ପ୍ରେରିତ 24

1 ପାଞ୍ଚ ଦିନ ପରେ ହାନାନ ମହାଯାଜକ କେତେକ ପ୍ରାଚୀନ ଓ ତର୍ତ୍ତୁଲ୍ଲ ନାମକ ଜଣେ ଓକିଲଙ୍କ ସାଙ୍ଗରେ ଆସିଲେ, ଆଉ ସେମାନେ ପାଉଲଙ୍କ ବିରୁଦ୍ଧରେ ଶାସନକର୍ତ୍ତାଙ୍କ ନିକଟରେ ଆବେଦନ କଲେ।

Now after five days the high priest Ananias went down with the elders and a certain orator, Tertullus, and they informed the governor against Paul.

2 ତାହାଙ୍କୁ ଡକାଯାଆନ୍ତେ ତର୍ତ୍ତୁଲ୍ଲ ତାହାଙ୍କୁ ଅଭିଯୋଗ କରି କହିବାକୁ ଲାଗିଲେ, ହେ ମହାମହିମ ଫେଲୀକ୍ସ୍, ଆପଣଙ୍କ ଦ୍ୱାରା ଆମ୍ଭେମାନେ ଯେ ମହା ଶାନ୍ତି ଭୋଗ କରୁଅଛୁ, ପୁଣି, ଆପଣଙ୍କର ଦୂରଦର୍ଶିତାରେ ଏହି ଜାତି ନିମନ୍ତେ ନାନା ମଙ୍ଗଳ ସାଧିତ ହୋଇଅଛି,

So when he had been called in, Tertullus began his accusation, saying: “Seeing that by you we enjoy much peace, and your foresight has brought prosperity to this nation,

3 ଏହା ଆମ୍ଭେମାନେ ସର୍ବତୋଭାବରେ ଓ ସର୍ବସ୍ଥାନରେ ସମ୍ପୂର୍ଣ୍ଣ କୃତଜ୍ଞତା ସହିତ ସ୍ୱୀକାର କରୁଅଛୁ।

we recognize this, most noble Felix, with full gratitude, always and everywhere.

4 କିନ୍ତୁ ମୁଁ ଯେପରି ଆପଣଙ୍କର ଅଧିକ କ୍ଳାନ୍ତ ନ ଜନ୍ମାଏ, ଏଥିପାଇଁ ଆପଣ ନିଜ ଦୟା ଗୁଣରେ ଆମ୍ଭମାନଙ୍କ କେତୋଟି କଥା ଶୁଣିବା ପାଇଁ ମୁଁ ଆପଣଙ୍କୁ ନିବେଦନ କରୁଅଛି।

But so as not to detain you unduly, I would request that you be kind enough to hear us briefly.

5 କାରଣ ଆମ୍ଭେମାନେ ଏହି ଲୋକକୁ ମହାମାରୀ ସ୍ୱରୂପ, ଜଗତର ସର୍ବତ୍ର ସମସ୍ତ ଯିହୁଦୀମାନଙ୍କ ମଧ୍ୟରେ ବିଦ୍ରୋହର ପରିଚାଳକ ଓ ନାଜରିତୀୟ ଦଳର ଜଣେ ପ୍ରଧାନ ନେତା ବୋଲି ଜାଣିଅଛୁ;

We have found this man to be a plague, a creator of discord among all the Jews throughout the world, a ringleader of the Natsorean sect,

6 ଆହୁରି ମଧ୍ୟ ଏ ମନ୍ଦିର ଅଶୁଚି କରିବାକୁ ଚେଷ୍ଟା କରିଥିଲା, କିନ୍ତୁ ଆମ୍ଭେମାନେ ଏହାକୁ ଧରିଲୁ ଆଉ ଆପଣମାନଙ୍କ ବ୍ୟବସ୍ଥା ଅନୁସାରେ ଏହାର ବିଚାର କରିବାକୁ ଇଚ୍ଛା କରିଥିଲୁ।

and he even tried to profane the temple; so we arrested him.

7 କିନ୍ତୁ ସହସ୍ର-ସେନାପତି ଲୂସୀୟା ଆସି ଅତିଶୟ ଜୋର୍‍ରେ ଏହାକୁ ଆମ୍ଭମାନଙ୍କ ହାତରୁ ଛଡ଼ାଇନେଲେ,

8 ଆଉ ଏହାର ଅଭିଯୋଗକାରୀମାନଙ୍କୁ ଆପଣଙ୍କ ସମ୍ମୁଖରେ ଉପସ୍ଥିତ ହେବା ପାଇଁ ଆଦେଶ ଦେଲେ। ଏହି ଯେ ସମସ୍ତ ବିଷୟରେ ଆମ୍ଭେମାନେ ଏହା ବିରୁଦ୍ଧରେ ଅଭିଯୋଗ କରୁଅଛୁ, ଆପଣ ନିଜେ ଏହାକୁ ପଚାରିଲେ ସେହିସବୁ ଅବଗତ ହୋଇପାରିବେ।

By examining him yourself you may ascertain all these things of which we accuse him.”

9 ଅନ୍ୟ ଯିହୁଦୀମାନେ ମଧ୍ୟ ଅଭିଯୋଗରେ ମିଶି ଏହି ସମସ୍ତ କଥା ସତ୍ୟ ବୋଲି କହିଲେ।

And the Jews also joined in the attack, affirming that these things were so.

10 ସେଥିରେ ଶାସନକର୍ତ୍ତା କଥା କହିବା ନିମନ୍ତେ ପାଉଲଙ୍କୁ ସଙ୍କେତ କରନ୍ତେ ସେ ଉତ୍ତର ଦେଲେ, ଆପଣ ଅନେକ ବର୍ଷ ହେଲା ଏହି ଜାତିର ବିଚାରକର୍ତ୍ତା ଅଟନ୍ତି ବୋଲି ଜାଣିବାରୁ ମୁଁ ସାହସରେ ମୋହର ପକ୍ଷ ସମର୍ଥନ କରୁଅଛି।

When the governor had nodded to him to speak, Paul answered: “Knowing, as I do, that you have been an equitable judge of this nation for many years, I do the more cheerfully answer for myself,

11 ବାର ଦିନରୁ ଅଧିକ ହେବ ନାହିଁ ମୁଁ ଉପାସନା କରିବା ନିମନ୍ତେ ଯିରୂଶାଲମ ସହରକୁ ଯାଇଥିଲି, ଏହା ଆପଣ ଜାଣି ପାରନ୍ତି

because you can ascertain that it is not more than twelve days since I went up to Jerusalem to worship.

12 ଆଉ ଏମାନେ ମନ୍ଦିରରେ କି ସମାଜଗୃହରେ କି ନଗରରେ ମୋତେ କାହାରି ସହିତ ବିବାଦ କରିବାର କିମ୍ବା ଜନତାକୁ ମତାଇବାର ଦେଖି ନାହାନ୍ତି,

They did not find me disputing with anyone or stirring up a crowd—not in the temple, not in the synagogues, not around the city.

13 ପୁଣି, ଏବେ ଏମାନେ ମୋ ବିରୁଦ୍ଧରେ ଯେଉଁ ସମସ୍ତ ବିଷୟ ନେଇ ଅଭିଯୋଗ କରୁଅଛନ୍ତି, ସେହିସବୁ ଆପଣଙ୍କ ନିକଟରେ ପ୍ରମାଣ କରିପାରନ୍ତି ନାହିଁ।

Nor can they prove the things of which they now accuse me.

14 କିନ୍ତୁ ଏମାନେ ଯାହାକୁ ଗୋଟିଏ ବିଧର୍ମଦଳ ବୋଲି କହନ୍ତି, ମୁଁ ସେହି ମାର୍ଗ ଅନୁସାରେ ଆମ୍ଭମାନଙ୍କ ପିତୃ-ପୁରୁଷଙ୍କ ଈଶ୍ବରଙ୍କର ଉପାସନା କରିଥାଏ; ଯାହା ଯାହା ମୋଶାଙ୍କ ବ୍ୟବସ୍ଥା ଅନୁଯାୟୀ ଓ ଯାହା ଯାହା ଭାବବାଦୀମାନଙ୍କ ପୁସ୍ତକରେ ଲିଖିତ ଅଛି, ସେହିସବୁ ମୁଁ ବିଶ୍ୱାସ କରେ;

But I do profess this to you, that according to the Way that they call a sect, that is how I worship the ancestral God, believing all things that stand written throughout the Law and the Prophets,

15 ପୁଣି, ଧାର୍ମିକ ଓ ଅଧାର୍ମିକ ଉଭୟଙ୍କର ପୁନରୁତ୍ଥାନ ହେବ ବୋଲି ଯାହା ଏମାନେ ନିଜେ ଅପେକ୍ଷା କରନ୍ତି, ମୁଁ ମଧ୍ୟ ଈଶ୍ବରଙ୍କଠାରେ ସେହି ପ୍ରକାର ଭରସା ରଖିଅଛି ବୋଲି ଆପଣଙ୍କ ନିକଟରେ ସ୍ୱୀକାର କରୁଅଛି।

having hope in God, which these themselves also look for, that there will be a resurrection of the dead, both the just and unjust.

16 ଏହେତୁରୁ ମୁଁ ମଧ୍ୟ ନିଜେ ସର୍ବଦା ଈଶ୍ବରଙ୍କ ଓ ମନୁଷ୍ୟର ପ୍ରତି ନିର୍ଦ୍ଦୋଷ ବିବେକ ରକ୍ଷା କରିବାକୁ ଯତ୍ନ କରୁଥାଏ।

And this is why I apply myself to always have a clear conscience before both God and men.

17 ଅନେକ ବର୍ଷ ପରେ ମୁଁ ମୋହର ଜାତି ନିକଟକୁ ଦାନ କରିବା ନିମନ୍ତେ ଓ ନୈବେଦ୍ୟ ଉତ୍ସର୍ଗ କରିବା ନିମନ୍ତେ ଆସିଥିଲି।

Now after many years I came to bring alms and offerings to my nation,

18 ସେହି ସମୟରେ ଏମାନେ ମୋତେ ମନ୍ଦିରରେ ଶୁଚି ହୋଇଥିବାର ଦେଖିଲେ; ମୁଁ କୌଣସି ଜନତା କିମ୍ବା ଗଣ୍ଡଗୋଳରେ ମିଶି ନ ଥିଲି, କିନ୍ତୁ ଏସିଆ ପ୍ରଦେଶର କେତେକ ଯିହୁଦୀ ଲୋକମାନେ ଥିଲେ;

in the midst of which certain Jews from Asia found me purified in the temple, with neither crowd nor confusion.

19 ଯଦି ସେମାନଙ୍କର ମୋ, ବିରୁଦ୍ଧରେ କୌଣସି କଥା ଥାଆନ୍ତା, ତାହାହେଲେ ଆପଣଙ୍କ ସମ୍ମୁଖରେ ଉପସ୍ଥିତ ହୋଇ ଅଭିଯୋଗ କରିବା ସେମାନଙ୍କର ଉଚିତ୍ ହୋଇଥାଆନ୍ତା।

They are the ones that had to be here before you and make accusation, if they had anything against me.

20 ନତୁବା ମୃତମାନଙ୍କ ପୁନରୁତ୍ଥାନ ସମ୍ବନ୍ଧରେ ମୁଁ ଆଜି ଆପଣମାନଙ୍କ ସମ୍ମୁଖରେ ବିଚାରିତ ହେଉଅଛି ବୋଲି ମୁଁ ସେମାନଙ୍କ ମଧ୍ୟରେ ଠିଆ ହୋଇ ଉଚ୍ଚସ୍ୱରରେ ଏହି ଯେଉଁ କଥା କହିଥିଲି,

Or let these themselves say what wrong they found in me, when I stood before the council,

21 କେବଳ ସେହି ଗୋଟିଏ କଥା ଛଡ଼ା ମୁଁ ମହାସଭା ସମ୍ମୁଖରେ ଠିଆ ହେବା ସମୟରେ ଏମାନେ ମୋହର କି ଦୋଷ ପାଇଅଛନ୍ତି ତାହା ଏମାନେ ନିଜେ କହନ୍ତୁ।

unless it be for this one statement that I called out, standing among them, ‘Concerning the resurrection of the dead I am being judged by you today.’”

22 କିନ୍ତୁ ଫେଲୀକ୍ସ୍‌ ସେହି ମାର୍ଗ ବିଷୟରେ ଅଳ୍ପ ଜାଣିଥିବାରୁ ବିଚାର ସ୍ଥଗିତ ରଖି କହିଲେ ଯେ ସହସ୍ର-ସେନାପତି ଲୂସୀୟା ଆସିଲା ପରେ ଆମ୍ଭେ ତୁମ୍ଭମାନଙ୍କ ବିଷୟ ନିର୍ଣ୍ଣୟ କରିବା।

Upon hearing these things Felix, having an accurate knowledge of the things concerning the Way, adjourned the proceedings and said, “When Lysias the commander comes down I will decide your case.”

23 ପୁଣି, ସେ ଶତ-ସେନାପତିଙ୍କୁ ତାଙ୍କର କୌଣସି ଆତ୍ମୀୟ ସ୍ୱଜନଙ୍କୁ ତାହାଙ୍କର ସେବା କରିବା ପାଇଁ ବାରଣ ନ କରିବାକୁ, ପୁଣି, ତାହାଙ୍କୁ ବନ୍ଦୀ ରୂପେ ରକ୍ଷା କରି ତାହାଙ୍କ ପ୍ରତି କୋମଳ ବ୍ୟବହାର କରିବାକୁ ଆଦେଶ ଦେଲେ।

And he ordered the centurion that Paul should be kept in custody but have some freedom, and not to forbid any of his friends to provide for or to visit him.

24 କେତେକ ଦିନ ପରେ ଫେଲୀକ୍ସ୍‌ ଦ୍ରୂସିଲ୍ଲା ନାମ୍ନୀ ଆପଣା ଯିହୁଦୀୟା ଭାର୍ଯ୍ୟାଙ୍କ ସହିତ ଆସି ପାଉଲଙ୍କୁ ଡକାଇ ଖ୍ରୀଷ୍ଟ ଯୀଶୁଙ୍କଠାରେ ବିଶ୍ୱାସ ବିଷୟ ତାଙ୍କଠାରୁ ଶୁଣିଲେ।

Now after some days, when Felix came with his wife Drusilla, who was a Jewess, he sent for Paul and heard him concerning the faith into Christ Jesus.

25 କିନ୍ତୁ ସେ ଧାର୍ମିକତା, ଆତ୍ମସଂଯମ ଓ ଆଗାମୀ ବିଚାର ବିଷୟରେ କଥା କହିବା ସମୟରେ ଫେଲୀକ୍ସ୍‌ ଭୟର ସହିତ ଉତ୍ତର ଦେଲେ, ବର୍ତ୍ତମାନ ତୁମ୍ଭେ ଯାଅ, ସୁବିଧା ସମୟ ପାଇଲେ ଆମ୍ଭେ ତୁମ୍ଭକୁ ଡକାଇବା।

But as he expounded on righteousness, self-control, and the judgment to come, Felix became afraid and answered, “Go away for now; when I have occasion I will summon you.”

26 ଆହୁରି ମଧ୍ୟ ପାଉଲ ତାହାଙ୍କୁ ଲାଞ୍ଚ ଦେବେ ବୋଲି ସେ ଆଶା କରୁଥିଲେ, ସେଥିପାଇଁ ଥରକୁ ଥର ତାହାଙ୍କୁ ଡକାଇ ତାହାଙ୍କ ସହିତ କଥାବାର୍ତ୍ତା କରୁଥିଲେ।

At the same time he was also hoping that Paul would give him money, that he might release him; so he frequently summoned and conversed with him.

27 କିନ୍ତୁ ଦୁଇ ବର୍ଷ ପୂର୍ଣ୍ଣ ହେଲା ଉତ୍ତାରେ ପର୍କୀୟ ଫେଷ୍ଟସ୍ ଫେଲୀକ୍ସ୍‌ଙ୍କ ପଦରେ ନିଯୁକ୍ତ ହେଲେ, ଆଉ ଫେଲୀକ୍ସ୍ ଯିହୁଦୀମାନଙ୍କ ପ୍ରିୟପାତ୍ର ହେବାକୁ ଇଚ୍ଛା କରି ପାଉଲଙ୍କୁ ବନ୍ଦୀ ଅବସ୍ଥାରେ ରଖି ଚାଲିଗଲେ।

But after two years, Felix was succeeded by Porcius Festus; so Felix, wanting to do the Jews a favor, left Paul in prison.
