ପ୍ରେରିତ 23

1 ପୁଣି, ପାଉଲ ମହାସଭା ପ୍ରତି ସ୍ଥିର ଦୃଷ୍ଟିରେ ଚାହିଁ କହିଲେ, ଭାଇମାନେ, ମୁଁ ଏହି ଦିନ ପର୍ଯ୍ୟନ୍ତ ସମ୍ପୂର୍ଣ୍ଣ ସୁବିବେକରେ ଈଶ୍ବରଙ୍କ ସାକ୍ଷାତରେ ଆଚାର-ବ୍ୟବହାର କରି ଆସିଅଛି।

And Paul having earnestly beheld the Sanhedrin, said, “Men, brothers, I have lived to God in all good conscience to this day”;

2 ସେଥିରେ ମହାଯାଜକ ହାନାନ ତାହାଙ୍କ ପାଖରେ ଠିଆ ହୋଇଥିବା ଲୋକମାନଙ୍କୁ ତାହାଙ୍କ ମୁଖରେ ଆଘାତ କରିବା ପାଇଁ ଆଜ୍ଞା ଦେଲେ।

and the chief priest Ananias commanded those standing by him to strike him on the mouth,

3 ସେତେବେଳେ ପାଉଲ ତାହାଙ୍କୁ କହିଲେ, ହେ ଶୁକ୍ଳୀକୃତ ପ୍ରାଚୀର, ଈଶ୍ବର ତୁମ୍ଭକୁ ଆଘାତ କରିବେ, ତୁମ୍ଭେ ଏକାବେଳେ ବ୍ୟବସ୍ଥା ଅନୁସାରେ ମୋହର ବିଚାର କରିବାକୁ ବସି ବ୍ୟବସ୍ଥା ବିରୁଦ୍ଧରେ ମୋତେ ଆଘାତ କରିବା ପାଇଁ କି ଆଜ୍ଞା ଦେଉଅଛ?

then Paul said to him, “God is about to strike you, you whitewashed wall, and you sit judging me according to the Law, and violating law, order me to be struck!”

4 ସେଥିରେ ନିକଟରେ ଠିଆ ହୋଇଥିବା ଲୋକମାନେ କହିଲେ, ତୁ କି ଈଶ୍ବରଙ୍କ ମହାଯାଜକଙ୍କୁ ନିନ୍ଦା କରୁଅଛୁ?

And those who stood by said, “Do you revile the chief priest of God?”

5 ପୁଣି, ପାଉଲ କହିଲେ, ଭାଇମାନେ, ସେ ମହାଯାଜକ ବୋଲି ମୁଁ ଜାଣି ନ ଥିଲି; କାରଣ ଲିଖିତ ଅଛି, ତୁମ୍ଭେ ନିଜ ଲୋକମାନଙ୍କ ଅଧ୍ୟକ୍ଷଙ୍କୁ ଅଭିଶାପ ଦେବ ନାହିଁ।

And Paul said, “I did not know, brothers, that he is chief priest, for it has been written: You will not speak evil of the ruler of your people”;

6 ପାଉଲ ଏକ ଭାଗ ସାଦ୍ଦୂକୀ ଆଉ ଅପର ଭାଗ ଫାରୂଶୀ ବୋଲି ଜାଣି ମହାସଭାରେ ଉଚ୍ଚସ୍ୱରରେ କହିଲେ, ଭାଇମାନେ, ମୁଁ ଜଣେ ଫାରୂଶୀ ଓ ଫାରୂଶୀର ପୁତ୍ର; ପୁଣି, ଏହି ଭରସା, ଅର୍ଥାତ୍‍ ମୃତମାନଙ୍କ ପୁନରୁତ୍ଥାନ ସମ୍ବନ୍ଧରେ ମୁଁ ବିଚାରିତ ହେଉଅଛି।

and Paul having known that one part are Sadducees, and the other Pharisees, cried out in the Sanhedrin, “Men, brothers, I am a Pharisee—son of a Pharisee—concerning [the] hope and resurrection of [the] dead I am judged.”

7 ସେ ଏହି କଥା କହିବାରୁ ଫାରୂଶୀ ଓ ସାଦ୍ଦୂକୀମାନଙ୍କ ମଧ୍ୟରେ ବିବାଦ, ଓ ସଭାରେ ଦଳଭେଦ ଘଟିଲା।

And he having spoken this, there came a dissension of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees, and the crowd was divided,

8 କାରଣ ସାଦ୍ଦୂକୀମାନେ ପୁନରୁତ୍ଥାନ, ଦୂତ ଅବା ଆତ୍ମା ନାହାନ୍ତି ବୋଲି କହନ୍ତି, କିନ୍ତୁ ଫାରୂଶୀମାନେ ଉଭୟ ସ୍ୱୀକାର କରନ୍ତି।

for Sadducees, indeed, say there is no resurrection, nor messenger, nor spirit, but Pharisees confess both.

9 ଏଥିରେ ମହା କୋଳାହଳ ଘଟିଲା, ଆଉ ଫାରୂଶୀମାନଙ୍କ ଦଳର କେତେକ ଶାସ୍ତ୍ରୀ ଉଠି ଯୁକ୍ତିତର୍କ କରି କହିଲେ, ଆମ୍ଭେମାନେ ଏହି ଲୋକଠାରେ କୌଣସି ଦୋଷ ଦେଖୁ ନାହୁଁ, କେଜାଣି କୌଣସି ଆତ୍ମା କିମ୍ବା ଦୂତ ତାହା ସାଙ୍ଗରେ କଥା କହିଅଛନ୍ତି।

And there came a great cry, and the scribes of the Pharisees’ part having arisen, were striving, saying, “We find no evil in this man; and if a spirit spoke to him, or a messenger, we may not fight against God”;

10 ଏହି ପ୍ରକାରେ ମହା ବିବାଦ ଘଟନ୍ତେ, କାଳେ ପାଉଲ ସେମାନଙ୍କ ଦ୍ୱାରା ଖଣ୍ଡବିଖଣ୍ଡ ହେବେ, ଏହି ଭୟରେ ସହସ୍ର-ସେନାପତି ସେମାନଙ୍କ ମଧ୍ୟରୁ ତାହାଙ୍କୁ ବଳପୂର୍ବକ ଗଡ଼ ଭିତରକୁ ନେଇ ଆସିବା ପାଇଁ ସୈନ୍ୟମାନଙ୍କୁ ଯିବାକୁ ଆଦେଶ ଦେଲେ।

and a great dissension having come, the chief captain having been afraid lest Paul may be pulled to pieces by them, commanded the army, having gone down, to seize him out of their midst, and to bring [him] into the stronghold.

11 ପରରାତ୍ରରେ ପ୍ରଭୁ ତାହାଙ୍କ ପାଖରେ ଠିଆ ହୋଇ କହିଲେ, “ସାହସ ଧର, କାରଣ ତୁମ୍ଭେ ଯେପରି ଯିରୂଶାଲମ ସହରରେ ଆମ୍ଭ ବିଷୟରେ ସାକ୍ଷ୍ୟ ଦେଇଅଛ, ସେହିପରି ତୁମ୍ଭକୁ ରୋମରେ ମଧ୍ୟ ସାକ୍ଷ୍ୟ ଦେବାକୁ ହେବ।”

And on the following night, the LORD having stood by him, said, “Take courage, Paul, for as you fully testified [to] the things concerning Me at Jerusalem, so you must also testify at Rome.”

12 ଦିନ ହୁଅନ୍ତେ ଯିହୁଦୀମାନେ ଦଳବଦ୍ଧ ହୋଇ ପାଉଲଙ୍କୁ ବଧ ନ କରିବା ପର୍ଯ୍ୟନ୍ତ, ଅନ୍ନଜଳ ସ୍ପର୍ଶ କଲେ ଅଭିଶପ୍ତ ହେବେ ବୋଲି ଶପଥରେ ନିଜ ନିଜକୁ ଆବଦ୍ଧ କଲେ।

And day having come, certain of the Jews having made a concourse, cursed themselves, saying neither to eat nor to drink until they may kill Paul;

13 ଏହି ଷଡ଼ଯନ୍ତ୍ର କରିଥିବା ଲୋକମାନେ, ଚାଳିଶ ଜଣରୁ ଅଧିକ ଥିଲେ।

and they were more than forty who made this conspiracy by oath,

14 ସେମାନେ ପ୍ରଧାନ ଯାଜକ ଓ ପ୍ରାଚୀନମାନଙ୍କ ନିକଟକୁ ଆସି କହିଲେ, ଆମ୍ଭେମାନେ ପାଉଲଙ୍କୁ ବଧ ନ କରିବା ପର୍ଯ୍ୟନ୍ତ କିଛି ଖାଇବୁ ନାହିଁ ବୋଲି ନିଜ ନିଜକୁ ଦୃଢ଼ ଶପଥରେ ଆବଦ୍ଧ କରିଅଛୁ।

who having come near to the chief priests and to the elders said, “With a curse we accursed ourselves—to taste nothing until we have killed Paul;

15 ଅତଏବ ଆପଣମାନେ ଅଧିକ ସୂକ୍ଷ୍ମ ରୂପେ ତାହାର ବିଚାର କରିବାକୁ ଇଚ୍ଛା କରୁଅଛନ୍ତି ବୋଲି ଛଳନା କରି ତାହାକୁ ଆପଣମାନଙ୍କ ନିକଟକୁ ଆଣିବା ନିମନ୍ତେ ଏବେ ମହାସଭା ସହିତ ସହସ୍ର-ସେନାପତିଙ୍କୁ ନିବେଦନ କରନ୍ତୁ। ସେ ଆପଣମାନଙ୍କ ନିକଟକୁ ଆସିବା ପୂର୍ବେ ଆମ୍ଭେମାନେ ତାହାକୁ ବଧ କରିବାକୁ ପ୍ରସ୍ତୁତ ଅଛୁ।

now, therefore, you, signify to the chief captain, with the Sanhedrin, that tomorrow he may bring him down to you, as being about to know more exactly the things concerning him; and we, before his coming near, are ready to put him to death.”

16 କିନ୍ତୁ ପାଉଲଙ୍କ ଭଣଜା ସେମାନଙ୍କର ଛକି ରହିବା କଥା ଶୁଣିଲେ ଏବଂ ଆସି ଗଡ଼ ମଧ୍ୟରେ ପ୍ରବେଶ କରି ପାଉଲଙ୍କୁ ଜଣାଇଲେ।

And the son of Paul’s sister having heard of the lying in wait, having gone and entered into the stronghold, told Paul,

17 ସେଥିରେ ପାଉଲ ଜଣେ ଶତ-ସେନାପତିଙ୍କୁ ଡାକି କହିଲେ, ଏହି ଯୁବାଙ୍କୁ ସହସ୍ର-ସେନାପତିଙ୍କ ନିକଟକୁ ନେଇ ଯାଆନ୍ତୁ, କାରଣ ତାହାଙ୍କୁ ଜଣାଇବା ନିମନ୍ତେ ଏହାର କିଛି କଥା ଅଛି।

and Paul having called near one of the centurions, said, “Lead this young man to the chief captain, for he has something to tell him.”

18 ତେଣୁ ସେ ତାହାଙ୍କୁ ସହସ୍ର-ସେନାପତିଙ୍କ ନିକଟକୁ ନେଇଯାଇ କହିଲେ, ବନ୍ଦୀ ପାଉଲ ଆପଣା ନିକଟକୁ ମୋତେ ଡାକି ଆପଣଙ୍କ ପାଖକୁ ଏହି ଯୁବାକୁ ନେଇ ଆସିବା ପାଇଁ ଅନୁରୋଧ କଲା, ଆପଣଙ୍କୁ କହିବା ନିମନ୍ତେ ଏହାର କିଛି କଥା ଅଛି।

He indeed, then, having taken him, brought him to the chief captain and says, “The prisoner Paul, having called me near, asked [me] to bring to you this young man, having something to say to you.”

19 ସହସ୍ର-ସେନାପତି ତାହାକୁ ହାତ ଧରି ତାହାକୁ ନିର୍ଜନକୁ ନେଇଯାଇ ପଚାରିଲେ, ମୋତେ ଜଣାଇବା ନିମନ୍ତେ ତୁମ୍ଭର କଅଣ ଅଛି?

And the chief captain having taken him by the hand, and having withdrawn by themselves, inquired, “What is that which you have to tell me?”

20 ସେ କହିଲା, ପାଉଲଙ୍କ ବିଷୟରେ ଅଧିକ ସୂକ୍ଷ୍ମ ରୂପେ ଅନୁସନ୍ଧାନ କରିବା ଛଳରେ ଯିହୁଦୀମାନେ ତାହାଙ୍କୁ କାଲି ମହାସଭା ନିକଟକୁ ଆଣିବା ନିମନ୍ତେ ଆପଣଙ୍କୁ ଅନୁରୋଧ କରିବା ପାଇଁ ଏକମତ ହୋଇଅଛନ୍ତି।

And he said, “The Jews agreed to request you, that tomorrow you may bring down Paul to the Sanhedrin, as being about to inquire something more exactly concerning him;

21 ଏଣୁ ଆପଣ ସେମାନଙ୍କ କଥାରେ ସମ୍ମତ ହେବେ ନାହିଁ, କାରଣ ତାହାଙ୍କୁ ବଧ ନ କରିବା ଯାଏ ଅନ୍ନଜଳ ସ୍ପର୍ଶ କଲେ ଅଭିଶପ୍ତ ହେବେ ବୋଲି ନିଜ ନିଜକୁ ଶପଥରେ ଆବଦ୍ଧ କରି ଚାଳିଶ ଜଣରୁ ଅଧିକ ଲୋକ ତାହାଙ୍କୁ ଛକି ରହିଅଛନ୍ତି, ଆଉ ଏବେ ସେମାନେ ଆପଣଙ୍କଠାରୁ ଅନୁମତି ପାଇବା ନିମନ୍ତେ ଅପେକ୍ଷା କରି ପ୍ରସ୍ତୁତ ହୋଇ ରହିଅଛନ୍ତି।

you, therefore, may you not yield to them, for there more than forty men of them lie in wait for him, who cursed themselves—not to eat nor to drink until they kill him, and now they are ready, waiting for the promise from you.”

22 ସେଥିରେ ସହସ୍ର-ସେନାପତି ସେହି ଯୁବାକୁ ବିଦାୟ ଦେଇ ତାହାକୁ ଆଦେଶ କଲେ, ତୁମ୍ଭେ ଯେ ଏହି ସମସ୍ତ କଥା ମୋତେ ଜଣାଇଅଛ, ତାହା କାହାକୁ କହିବ ନାହିଁ।

The chief captain, then, indeed, let the young man go, having charged [him], “Tell no one that you have shown these things to me”;

23 ପରେ ସେ ଦୁଇ ଜଣ ଶତ-ସେନାପତିଙ୍କୁ ଡାକି କହିଲେ, କାଇସରିୟା ପର୍ଯ୍ୟନ୍ତ ଯିବା ନିମନ୍ତେ ରାତ୍ର ତିନି ଘଟିକା ସମୟରେ ଦୁଇ ଶହ ସୈନ୍ୟ, ସତୁରି ଜଣ ଅଶ୍ଵାରୋହୀ ଓ ଦୁଇ ଶହ ବର୍ଚ୍ଛାଧାରୀଙ୍କୁ ପ୍ରସ୍ତୁତ କର।

and having called a certain two of the centurions near, he said, “Make ready two hundred soldiers, that they may go on to Caesarea, and seventy horsemen, and two hundred spearmen, from the third hour of the night;

24 ପୁଣି, ସେମାନେ ଯେପରି ପାଉଲଙ୍କୁ ଅଶ୍ବବାହନ ଉପରେ ବସାଇ ଶାସନକର୍ତ୍ତା ଫେଲୀକ୍ସ୍‌ଙ୍କ ନିକଟକୁ ନିରାପଦରେ ନେଇଯାଆନ୍ତି, ଏଥିପାଇଁ ତାହା ଆୟୋଜନ କରିବା ନିମନ୍ତେ ସେ ଆଦେଶ ଦେଲେ।

also provide beasts, that, having set Paul on, they may bring him safe to Felix the governor”;

25 ଆଉ, ସେ ଏହି ପ୍ରକାରେ ଗୋଟିଏ ଚିଠି ଲେଖିଲେ,

he having written a letter after this description:

26 ମହାମହିମ ଶାସନକର୍ତ୍ତା ଫେଲୀକ୍ସ୍‌ଙ୍କୁ, କ୍ଲାଉଦିଅ ଲୂସୀୟାଙ୍କର ନମସ୍କାର।

“Claudius Lysias, to the most noble governor Felix, greetings:

27 ଯିହୁଦୀମାନେ ଏହି ଲୋକକୁ ଧରି ବଧ କରିବାକୁ ଯାଉଥିବା ସମୟରେ ମୁଁ ସୈନ୍ୟମାନଙ୍କ ସହିତ ଯାଇ ସେ ଜଣେ ରୋମୀୟ ବୋଲି ଜାଣି ଏହାକୁ ଉଦ୍ଧାର କଲି।

This man having been taken by the Jews, and being about to be killed by them—having come with the army, I rescued him, having learned that he is a Roman;

28 କେଉଁ କାରଣରୁ ସେମାନେ ଏହାର ବିରୁଦ୍ଧରେ ଦୋଷାରୋପ କରୁଅଛନ୍ତି, ତାହା ଜାଣିବାକୁ ଇଚ୍ଛା କରି ମୁଁ ଏହାକୁ ସେମାନଙ୍କର ମହାସଭା ନିକଟକୁ ନେଇଗଲି।

and intending to know the cause for which they were accusing him, I brought him down to their Sanhedrin,

29 ପ୍ରାଣଦଣ୍ଡ ବା ବନ୍ଧନ ଯୋଗ୍ୟ କୌଣସି ବିଷୟ ଏହାର ବିରୁଦ୍ଧରେ ଅଭିଯୋଗ କରା ନ ଯାଇ ସେମାନଙ୍କ ବ୍ୟବସ୍ଥା ସମ୍ବନ୍ଧୀୟ ବିବାଦ ବିଷୟରେ ଅଭିଯୋଗ କରାଯାଉଅଛି ବୋଲି ମୁଁ ବୁଝିଲି।

whom I found accused concerning questions of their law, and having no accusation worthy of death or bonds;

30 ଏହି ଲୋକ ବିରୁଦ୍ଧରେ ଷଡ଼ଯନ୍ତ୍ର ହେବ ବୋଲି ମୋତେ ଖବର ଦିଆଯିବାରୁ ମୁଁ ଏହାକୁ ଅବିଳମ୍ବରେ ଆପଣଙ୍କ ନିକଟକୁ ପଠାଇଲି; ଏହାର ଅଭିଯୋଗକାରୀମାନଙ୍କୁ ମଧ୍ୟ ଆପଣଙ୍କ ସମ୍ମୁଖରେ, ଏହା ବିରୁଦ୍ଧରେ ସାକ୍ଷ୍ୟ ଦେବାକୁ ଆଦେଶ ଦେଲି।

and a plot having been intimated to me against this man—about to be of the Jews—I sent to you at once, having also given command to the accusers to say the things against him before you; be strong.”

31 ସେଥିରେ ସୈନ୍ୟମାନେ ପ୍ରାପ୍ତ ଆଦେଶାନୁସାରେ ପାଉଲଙ୍କୁ ନେଇ ରାତ୍ରିକାଳରେ ତାହାଙ୍କୁ ଆନ୍ତିପାତ୍ରିକୁ ଆଣିଲେ।

Then, indeed, the soldiers according to that directed them, having taken up Paul, brought him through the night to Antipatris,

32 ପରଦିନ ସେମାନେ ଅଶ୍ୱାରୋହୀମାନଙ୍କୁ ତାହାଙ୍କ ସାଙ୍ଗରେ ଯିବା ପାଇଁ ଛାଡ଼ିଦେଇ ଗଡ଼କୁ ଫେରିଗଲେ।

and on the next day, having permitted the horsemen to go on with him, they returned to the stronghold;

33 ପରେ ଅଶ୍ୱାରୋହୀମାନେ କାଇସରିୟାକୁ ଆସି ଶାସନକର୍ତ୍ତା ଫେଲିକ୍ସ୍‍ଙ୍କୁ ଚିଠି ଦେଲେ, ପୁଣି, ପାଉଲଙ୍କୁ ମଧ୍ୟ ତାହାଙ୍କ ଛାମୁରେ ଉପସ୍ଥିତ କଲେ।

those having entered into Caesarea, and delivered the letter to the governor, also presented Paul to him.

34 ସେ ଚିଠିଟି ପଢ଼ିଲା ଉତ୍ତାରେ, ସେ କେଉଁ ପ୍ରଦେଶର ଲୋକ ବୋଲି ପଚାରିଲେ; ପୁଣି, ସେ ଯେ କିଲିକିୟାର ଲୋକ, ଏହା ଜାଣି ସେ କହିଲେ,

And the governor having read [it], and inquired of what province he is, and understood that [he is] from Cilicia;

35 ତୁମ୍ଭର ଅଭିଯୋଗକାରୀମାନେ ମଧ୍ୟ ଉପସ୍ଥିତ ହେଲେ ଆମ୍ଭେ ତୁମ୍ଭର କଥା ଶୁଣିବା। ଆଉ ସେ ହେରୋଦଙ୍କ ପ୍ରାସାଦରେ ତାହାଙ୍କୁ ରଖିବା ନିମନ୍ତେ ଆଦେଶ ଦେଲେ।

“I will hear you,” he said, “when your accusers may also have come”; he also commanded him to be kept in the Praetorium of Herod.
