ପ୍ରେରିତ 17
1 ପରେ ପାଉଲ ଏବଂ ଶିଲା ଆଂଫିପଲି ଓ ଆପଲ୍ଲୋନିଆ ସହରଗୁଡ଼ିକ ଦେଇ ଯାତ୍ରା କରି ଥେସଲନୀକୀ ସହରକୁ ଆସିଲେ; ସେଠାରେ ଯିହୁଦୀମାନଙ୍କର ଗୋଟିଏ ସମାଜଗୃହ ଥିଲା।
And when they had passed through Amphipolis and Apollonia, they came to Thessalonica, where there was a synagogue of the Jews.
2 ଆଉ ପାଉଲ ଆପଣା ରୀତି ଅନୁସାରେ ସେମାନଙ୍କ ନିକଟକୁ ଗଲେ, ପୁଣି, ତିନୋଟି ବିଶ୍ରାମବାର ପର୍ଯ୍ୟନ୍ତ ଶାସ୍ତ୍ରର ବାକ୍ୟ ଘେନି ସେମାନଙ୍କୁ ଉପଦେଶ ଦେଲେ,
And Paul, according to his custom, went in to them, and, for three sabbath-days, he reasoned with them from the Scriptures,
3 ପୁଣି, ଖ୍ରୀଷ୍ଟଙ୍କର ଯେ ଦୁଃଖଭୋଗ ଓ ମୃତମାନଙ୍କ ମଧ୍ୟରୁ ଉତ୍ଥାନ କରିବା ଆବଶ୍ୟକ ଥିଲା, ଆଉ ସେ ଯେଉଁ ଯୀଶୁଙ୍କୁ ସେମାନଙ୍କ ନିକଟରେ ଘୋଷଣା କରୁଅଛନ୍ତି, ସେ ଯେ ଖ୍ରୀଷ୍ଟ, ଏହାର ସ୍ପଷ୍ଟ ପ୍ରମାଣ ଦେଲେ।
explaining and affirming that it was necessary for the Christ to suffer and to rise from the dead; and that this Jesus whom I preach to you is the Christ.
4 ସେଥିରେ ସେମାନଙ୍କ ମଧ୍ୟରୁ କେତେକ ଜଣ ବିଶ୍ୱାସ କରି ପାଉଲ ଓ ଶୀଲାଙ୍କ ସହିତ ଯୋଗ ଦେଲେ; ପୁଣି, ଯିହୁଦୀମତାବଲମ୍ବୀ ଗ୍ରୀକ୍ମାନଙ୍କ ମଧ୍ୟରୁ ବହୁସଂଖ୍ୟକ ଲୋକ ଓ ଅନେକ ଭଦ୍ର ମହିଳା ସେମାନଙ୍କ ସହିତ ଯୋଗ ଦେଲେ।
And some of them believed, and associated themselves with Paul and Silas; of the devout Greeks, a great multitude, and of the chief women, not a few.
5 କିନ୍ତୁ ଯିହୁଦୀମାନେ ଈର୍ଷାରେ ଜଳିଉଠି ବଜାରର କେତେକ ଦୁଷ୍ଟ ଲୋକଙ୍କୁ ସାଙ୍ଗରେ ଘେନି ଲୋକଗହଳ କରି ନଗରରେ ଗଣ୍ଡଗୋଳ ଲଗାଇଦେଲେ, ଆଉ ଯାସୋନଙ୍କ ଗୃହ ଆକ୍ରମଣ କରି ସେମାନଙ୍କୁ ଲୋକମାନଙ୍କ ନିକଟକୁ ବାହାର କରି ଆଣିବା ପାଇଁ ଚେଷ୍ଟା କଲେ।
But the unbelieving Jews, taking with them some evil men, who were loungers about the markets, and collecting a mob, set the city in an uproar; and having assaulted the house of Jason, they sought to bring them out to the people.
6 ମାତ୍ର ସେମାନଙ୍କୁ ନ ପାଇବାରୁ ସେମାନେ ଯାସୋନ ଓ କେତେକ ବିଶ୍ୱାସୀ ଭାଇମାନଙ୍କୁ ନଗରର ଶାସନକର୍ତ୍ତାମାନଙ୍କ ନିକଟକୁ ଟାଣିଆଣି ଉଚ୍ଚସ୍ୱରରେ ଡାକି କହିଲେ, ଏ ଯେଉଁ ଲୋକଗୁଡ଼ାକ ଜଗତକୁ ଓଲଟପାଲଟ କରିପକାଇଲେଣି, ସେମାନେ ଏଠାକୁ ମଧ୍ୟ ଆସିଅଛନ୍ତି; ସେମାନଙ୍କୁ ଯାସୋନ ଗ୍ରହଣ କରିଅଛି।
But not finding them, they dragged Jason and certain brethren before the rulers of the city, crying out: These men, who have thrown the world into confusion, have come hither also;
7 ଯୀଶୁ ନାମରେ ଆଉ ଜଣେ ରାଜା ଅଛି ବୋଲି କହି ଏମାନେ ସମସ୍ତେ କାଇସରଙ୍କ ଆଜ୍ଞାର ବିରୁଦ୍ଧାଚରଣ କରୁଅଛନ୍ତି।
whom Jason has received into his house: and they all act in opposition to the decrees of Cæsar, saying, That there is another king, Jesus.
8 ସେମାନଙ୍କର ଏହି କଥା ଶୁଣି ଲୋକସମୂହ ଓ ନଗରର ଶାସନକର୍ତ୍ତାମାନେ ବିଚଳିତ ହେଲେ।
And the multitude, and the rulers of the city, were troubled when they heard these things.
9 ପରେ ସେମାନେ ଯାସୋନ ଓ ତାହାଙ୍କ ସଙ୍ଗୀମାନଙ୍କଠାରୁ ଜାମିନ୍ ନେଇ ସେମାନଙ୍କୁ ଛାଡ଼ିଦେଲେ।
And they took security of Jason, and of the others, and let them go.
10 ପୁଣି, ଭାଇମାନେ ଅବିଳମ୍ବରେ ପାଉଲ ଓ ଶୀଲାଙ୍କୁ ରାତି ସମୟରେ ବେରିୟା ନଗରକୁ ପଠାଇଦେଲେ; ସେମାନେ ସେହି ସ୍ଥାନରେ ପହଞ୍ଚି ଯିହୁଦୀମାନଙ୍କ ସମାଜଗୃହକୁ ଗଲେ।
And the brethren immediately sent away Paul and Silas by night to Berea; and when they had come, they went into the synagogue of the Jews.
11 ଥେସଲନୀକୀ ସହରରେ ଥିବା ଯିହୁଦୀମାନଙ୍କଠାରୁ ଏମାନେ ସୁଶୀଳ ଥିଲେ। ଏମାନେ ପୂର୍ଣ୍ଣ ଆଗ୍ରହରେ ବାକ୍ୟ ଗ୍ରହଣ କଲେ, ପୁଣି, ଏହି ସମସ୍ତ ସତ୍ୟ କି ନା, ତାହା ଜାଣିବା ନିମନ୍ତେ ପ୍ରତିଦିନ ଶାସ୍ତ୍ର ଅନୁସନ୍ଧାନ କରୁଥିଲେ।
These were of a better disposition than those in Thessalonica, for they received the word with all readiness of mind, examining the Scriptures daily, whether these things were so.
12 ତେଣୁ ସେମାନଙ୍କ ମଧ୍ୟରୁ ଅନେକେ ଓ ଗ୍ରୀକ୍ମାନଙ୍କ ମଧ୍ୟରୁ ଅନେକ ସମ୍ଭ୍ରାନ୍ତ ମହିଳା ଓ ପୁରୁଷ ମଧ୍ୟ ବିଶ୍ୱାସ କଲେ।
Therefore, many of them believed; both of influential women, who were Greeks, and of men, not a few.
13 କିନ୍ତୁ ଯେତେବେଳେ ଥେସଲନୀକୀ ସହରରେ ଯିହୁଦୀମାନେ ଜାଣିଲେ ଯେ, ଈଶ୍ବରଙ୍କ ବାକ୍ୟ ପାଉଲଙ୍କ ଦ୍ୱାରା ବେରିୟାରେ ସୁଦ୍ଧା ପ୍ରଚାରିତ ହେଉଅଛି, ସେତେବେଳେ ସେମାନେ ସେ ସ୍ଥାନକୁ ମଧ୍ୟ ଆସି ଲୋକସମୂହଙ୍କୁ ଉତ୍ତେଜିତ ଓ ବିଚଳିତ କଲେ।
But when the Jews of Thessalonica learned that the word of God was preached by Paul in Berea also, they came thither, and excited the multitude.
14 ସେଥିରେ ଭାଇମାନେ ଅବିଳମ୍ବରେ ପାଉଲଙ୍କୁ ସମୁଦ୍ର ଆଡ଼କୁ ଯିବା ପାଇଁ ପଠାଇଦେଲେ, ଆଉ ଶୀଲା ଓ ତୀମଥି ସେହି ସ୍ଥାନରେ ରହିଲେ।
Then the brethren immediately sent Paul away, to go as if to the sea; but Silas and Timothy remained there.
15 କିନ୍ତୁ ଯେଉଁମାନେ ପାଉଲଙ୍କୁ ସାଙ୍ଗରେ ଘେନିଗଲେ, ସେମାନେ ତାହାଙ୍କୁ ଆଥିନୀ ପର୍ଯ୍ୟନ୍ତ ଆଣିଲେ, ଆଉ ଶୀଲା ଓ ତୀମଥି ଯେପରି ଅତି ଶୀଘ୍ର ତାହାଙ୍କ ନିକଟକୁ ଆସନ୍ତି, ଏହି ଆଜ୍ଞା ପାଇ ସେମାନେ ପ୍ରସ୍ଥାନ କଲେ।
And those who conducted Paul brought him to Athens: and having received a commandment for Silas and Timothy, that they should come to him as soon as possible, they departed.
16 ଆଥିନୀରେ ପାଉଲ ସେମାନଙ୍କ ଅପେକ୍ଷାରେ ଥିବା ସମୟରେ ସେହି ନଗରକୁ ପ୍ରତିମାରେ ପରିପୂର୍ଣ୍ଣ ଦେଖି ତାହାଙ୍କ ଆତ୍ମା ଉତ୍ତପ୍ତ ହୋଇ ଉଠିଲା।
Now while Paul was waiting for them at Athens, his spirit was stirred within him, when he saw the city full of idols.
17 ତେଣୁ ସେ ସମାଜଗୃହରେ ଯିହୁଦୀ ଓ ଯିହୁଦୀମତାବଲମ୍ବୀ ଅଣଯିହୁଦୀମାନଙ୍କ ସହିତ, ଆଉ ବଜାର ଛକରେ ପ୍ରତିଦିନ ଯେଉଁମାନଙ୍କ ସାଙ୍ଗରେ ଦେଖା ହେଉଥିଲା, ସେମାନଙ୍କୁ ଉପଦେଶ ଦେଉଥିଲେ।
Accordingly, he reasoned in the synagogue with the Jews and devout persons, and in the market daily, with those who chanced to meet him.
18 ସେଥିରେ ଏପିକୂୂରୀୟ ଓ ସ୍ତୋୟିକ ଦର୍ଶନଶାସ୍ତ୍ରର କେତେକ ଦାର୍ଶନିକ ମଧ୍ୟ ତାହାଙ୍କ ସହିତ ବାଦାନୁବାଦ କରିବାକୁ ଲାଗିଲେ, ପୁଣି, କେହି କେହି କହିଲେ, ଏ ବାଚାଳଟା କଅଣ କହିବାକୁ ଇଚ୍ଛା କରୁଅଛି? ଆଉ କେହି କେହି କହିଲେ, ସେ ଅଜଣା ଦେବତାମାନଙ୍କର ପ୍ରଚାରକ ହେଲା ପରି ଜଣାଯାଉଅଛି; କାରଣ ସେ ଯୀଶୁ ଓ ପୁନରୁତ୍ଥାନ ବିଷୟକ ସୁସମାଚାର ପ୍ରଚାର କରୁଥିଲେ।
And some of the Epicurean and Stoic philosophers disputed with him; and some said: What can this babbler possibly wish to say? Others said: He seems to be a proclaimer of strange demons: for he preached to them Jesus and the Resurrection.
19 ପରେ ସେମାନେ ତାହାଙ୍କୁ ଆରିୟପାଗକୁ ଘେନିଯାଇ କହିଲେ, ଏହି ଯେ ନୂତନ ଶିକ୍ଷା ଆପଣ ଦେଉଅଛନ୍ତି, ତାହା କଅଣ ବୋଲି ଆମ୍ଭେମାନେ ଜାଣି ପାରିବା କି?
And they took him, and brought him to Mars hill, saying: Are we able to understand what this new teaching is, which is announced by you?
20 କାରଣ ଆପଣ କେତେକ ଅଦ୍ଭୁତ ବିଷୟ ଆମ୍ଭମାନଙ୍କ କର୍ଣ୍ଣଗୋଚର କରୁଅଛନ୍ତି; ଅତଏବ ଏହି ସମସ୍ତ କଥାର ଅର୍ଥ କଅଣ, ଆମ୍ଭେମାନେ ତାହା ଜାଣିବାକୁ ଇଚ୍ଛା କରୁ।
For you bring some strange things to our ears: we wish to understand then what these things mean.
21 ଆଥିନୀ ସହରର ଲୋକ ସମସ୍ତେ ଓ ସେଠାରେ ପ୍ରବାସୀ ବିଦେଶୀୟମାନେ କେବଳ କୌଣସି ନୂତନ କଥା କହିବା ଓ ଶୁଣିବା ଛଡ଼ା ଆଉ କାହିଁରେ କାଳକ୍ଷେପଣ କରୁ ନ ଥିଲେ।
For all the Athenians and resident strangers have leisure for nothing else than to tell or to hear some new thing.
22 ଏଥିରେ ପାଉଲ ଆରିୟପାଗର ମଧ୍ୟସ୍ଥଳରେ ଠିଆ ହୋଇ କହିଲେ, ହେ ଆଥିନୀ ସହରର ଲୋକମାନେ, ଆପଣମାନେ ଯେ ସମସ୍ତ ବିଷୟରେ ବଡ଼ ଦେବ ଭକ୍ତ, ଏହା ମୁଁ ଦେଖୁଅଛି।
Then Paul stood in the midst of Mars hill, and said: Men of Athens, I perceive that in all respects your reverence for demons excels that of other men.
23 କାରଣ ମୁଁ ଭ୍ରମଣ କରିବା ସମୟରେ ଆପଣମାନଙ୍କର ପୂଜିତ ବସ୍ତୁସମସ୍ତ ଦେଖୁ ଦେଖୁ ଗୋଟିଏ ବେଦି ମଧ୍ୟ ଦେଖିଲି, ଯାହା ଉପରେ ଏହି କଥା ଲେଖା ହୋଇଅଛି, “ଅଜ୍ଞାତ ଦେବତାଙ୍କ ଉଦ୍ଦେଶ୍ୟରେ।” ଅତଏବ, ଆପଣମାନେ ନ ଜାଣି ଯାହାଙ୍କର ପୂଜା କରୁଅଛନ୍ତି, ମୁଁ ତାହାଙ୍କୁ ଆପଣମାନଙ୍କ ନିକଟରେ ପ୍ରଚାର କରୁଅଛି।
For as I was passing through, and looking attentively at the objects of your worship, I dis covered also an altar with this inscription: TO THE UNKNOWN GOD. Whom therefore you ignorantly worship, him I make known to you.
24 ଯେଉଁ ଈଶ୍ବର ଜଗତ ଓ ତନ୍ମଧ୍ୟସ୍ଥ ସମସ୍ତ ପଦାର୍ଥ ସୃଷ୍ଟି କରିଅଛନ୍ତି, ସେ ସ୍ୱର୍ଗ ଓ ପୃଥିବୀର ପ୍ରଭୁ ହେବାରୁ ହସ୍ତନିର୍ମିତ ମନ୍ଦିର-ସମୂହରେ ବାସ କରନ୍ତି ନାହିଁ,
God, who made the world, and all things that are in it, being Lord of heaven and earth, dwells not in temples made with hands;
25 କିଅବା ତାହାଙ୍କର କୌଣସି ଅଭାବ ଥିବାରୁ ମନୁଷ୍ୟହସ୍ତ ଦ୍ୱାରା ସେବିତ ହୁଅନ୍ତି ନାହିଁ, ଯେଣୁ ସେ ସ୍ୱୟଂ ସମସ୍ତଙ୍କୁ ଜୀବନ, ନିଶ୍ୱାସ, ଓ ସମସ୍ତ ପଦାର୍ଥ ଦାନ କରନ୍ତି।
nor is he ministered to by the hands of men, as if he needed any thing: for he himself gives to all life, and breath, and all things:
26 ଆଉ, ସେ ପୃଥିବୀର ସର୍ବତ୍ର ବାସ କରିବା ନିମନ୍ତେ ଏକ ବ୍ୟକ୍ତିଠାରୁ ସମସ୍ତ ମାନବଜାତି ସୃଷ୍ଟି କରିଅଛନ୍ତି; ସେ ସେମାନଙ୍କର ନିର୍ଦ୍ଦିଷ୍ଟ କାଳ ଓ ନିବାସର ସୀମା ସ୍ଥିର କରିଅଛନ୍ତି,
and he has made from one blood every nation of men, that they might dwell on all the face of the earth, having marked out their appointed times, and the bounds of their dwelling:
27 ସେମାନେ ଯେପରି ଈଶ୍ବରଙ୍କର ଅନ୍ୱେଷଣ କରି କାଳେ ଦରାଣ୍ଡି ଦରାଣ୍ଡି ତାହାଙ୍କର ଉଦ୍ଦେଶ୍ୟ ପାଇ ପାରନ୍ତି, ଯଦ୍ୟପି ସେ ଆମ୍ଭମାନଙ୍କର କାହାରିଠାରୁ ଦୂରରେ ନାହାନ୍ତି।
that they might seek for God, if perhaps they would feel after him, and find him, although, indeed, he is not far from every one of us.
28 କାରଣ ତାହାଙ୍କଠାରେ ଆମ୍ଭମାନଙ୍କର ଅସ୍ତି, ଗତି ଓ ସ୍ଥିତି, ଯେପରି ଆପଣମାନଙ୍କର ନିଜ କବିମାନଙ୍କ ମଧ୍ୟରୁ ସୁଦ୍ଧା କେତେକ କହିଅଛନ୍ତି, “କାରଣ ଆମ୍ଭେମାନେ ମଧ୍ୟ ତାହାଙ୍କ ବଂଶ।”
For in him we live, and move, and have our being: as also some of your own poets have said: For we his offspring are.
29 ତେବେ, ଆମ୍ଭେମାନେ ଈଶ୍ବରଙ୍କର ବଂଶ ହେବାରୁ ଈଶ୍ବରଙ୍କ ସ୍ୱରୂପକୁ ମନୁଷ୍ୟର ଶିଳ୍ପ ଓ କଳ୍ପନା ଅନୁସାରେ ଖୋଦିତ ସ୍ୱର୍ଣ୍ଣ କି ରୌପ୍ୟ କି ପ୍ରସ୍ତର ତୁଲ୍ୟ ବୁଝିବା ଆମ୍ଭମାନଙ୍କର ଉଚିତ୍ ନୁହେଁ।
Therefore, being the offspring of God, we ought not to think that the Godhood is like gold, or silver, or stone, sculptured by art and the device of man.
30 ଈଶ୍ବର ସେହି ଅଜ୍ଞାନତାର କାଳ ଉପେକ୍ଷା କରିଅଛନ୍ତି ସତ୍ୟ, କିନ୍ତୁ ଏବେ ସେ ସର୍ବତ୍ର ସମସ୍ତ ମନୁଷ୍ୟଙ୍କୁ ମନ-ପରିବର୍ତ୍ତନ କରିବା ନିମନ୍ତେ ଜଣାନ୍ତି;
Yet the times of this ignorance God overlooked; but now, he commands all men everywhere to repent:
31 କାରଣ ଯେଉଁ ଦିନ ସେ ଆପଣା ନିରୂପିତ ବ୍ୟକ୍ତିଙ୍କ ଦ୍ୱାରା ଧାର୍ମିକତାରେ ଜଗତର ବିଚାର କରିବେ, ଏହିପରି ଗୋଟିଏ ଦିନ ସ୍ଥିର କରିଅଛନ୍ତି, ଆଉ ତାହାଙ୍କୁ ମୃତମାନଙ୍କ ମଧ୍ୟରୁ ଉତ୍ଥାପନ କରି ଏହି ବିଷୟରେ ସମସ୍ତଙ୍କ ନିକଟରେ ପ୍ରମାଣ ଦେଇଅଛନ୍ତି।
because he has appointed a day in which he will judge the world, in righteousness, by the man whom he has chosen, giving to all assurance of this, by having raised him from the dead.
32 ମୃତମାନଙ୍କର ପୁନରୁତ୍ଥାନ କଥା ଶୁଣି କେହି କେହି ପରିହାସ କରିବାକୁ ଲାଗିଲେ; ଆଉ କେହି କେହି କହିଲେ, ଆମ୍ଭେମାନେ ଆଉ ଥରେ ଆପଣଙ୍କଠାରୁ ଏହି ବିଷୟ ଶୁଣିବା।
And when they heard of the resurrection of the dead, some mocked; others said: We will hear you again concerning this matter.
33 ଏହି ପ୍ରକାରେ ପାଉଲ ସେମାନଙ୍କ ମଧ୍ୟରୁ ବାହାରିଗଲେ।
And so Paul departed from among them.
34 କିନ୍ତୁ କୌଣସି କୌଣସି ଲୋକ ତାହାଙ୍କ ସପକ୍ଷ ହୋଇ ବିଶ୍ୱାସ କଲେ; ସେମାନଙ୍କ ମଧ୍ୟରେ ଏରିୟପାଗୀୟ ଦିୟନୂସୀୟ, ଦାମାରି ନାମ୍ନୀ ଜଣେ ମହିଳା ସେମାନଙ୍କ ସହିତ ଆଉ କେତେକ ଲୋକ ଥିଲେ।
But certain men associated with him, and believed; among whom was Dionysius the Areopagite, and a woman named Damaris, and others with them.
