ଦ୍ୱିତୀୟ ଶାମୁୟେଲ 3
1 ଏଥିଉତ୍ତାରେ ଶାଉଲ ବଂଶ ଓ ଦାଉଦ ବଂଶ ମଧ୍ୟରେ ଦୀର୍ଘ କାଳ ଯୁଦ୍ଧ ହେଲା; ପୁଣି ଦାଉଦ ଧୀରେ ଧୀରେ ବଳବାନ ହେଲେ, ମାତ୍ର ଶାଉଲ ବଂଶ ଧୀରେ ଧୀରେ କ୍ଷୀଣ ହେଲେ।
Now there was long war between the house of Saul and the house of David: but David grew stronger and stronger, and the house of Saul became weaker and weaker.
2 ପୁଣି ହିବ୍ରୋଣରେ ଦାଉଦଙ୍କର କେତେକ ପୁତ୍ର ଜାତ ହେଲେ; ତାଙ୍କର ପ୍ରଥମଜାତ ଅମ୍ନୋନ, ସେ ଯିଷ୍ରିୟେଲୀୟା ଅହୀନୋୟମ୍ଠାରୁ ଜାତ;
And to David were sons born in Hebron: and his firstborn was Amnon, of Ahinoam the Jezreelitess;
3 ପୁଣି ଦ୍ୱିତୀୟ ପୁତ୍ର କିଲାବ୍, ସେ କର୍ମିଲୀୟ ନାବଲର ଭାର୍ଯ୍ୟା ଅବୀଗଲଠାରୁ ଜାତ, ପୁଣି ତୃତୀୟ ଅବଶାଲୋମ, ସେ ଗଶୂରର ରାଜା ତଲ୍ମୟର କନ୍ୟା ମାଖାର ପୁତ୍ର।
And his second, Chileab, of Abigail the wife of Nabal the Carmelite; and the third, Absalom the son of Maacah the daughter of Talmai king of Geshur;
4 ପୁଣି ଚତୁର୍ଥ ଅଦୋନୀୟ, ସେ ହଗୀତର ପୁତ୍ର; ପୁଣି ପଞ୍ଚମ ଶଫଟୀୟ, ସେ ଅବିଟଲର ପୁତ୍ର।
And the fourth, Adonijah the son of Haggith; and the fifth, Shephatiah the son of Abital;
5 ଷଷ୍ଠ ଯିତ୍ରୀୟମ, ସେ ଦାଉଦଙ୍କର ଭାର୍ଯ୍ୟା ଇଗ୍ଲାର ପୁତ୍ର; ହିବ୍ରୋଣରେ ଦାଉଦଙ୍କର ଏହିସବୁ ପୁତ୍ର ଜାତ ହେଲେ।
And the sixth, Ithream, by Eglah David’s wife. These were born to David in Hebron.
6 ଶାଉଲ ବଂଶ ଓ ଦାଉଦ ବଂଶ ମଧ୍ୟରେ ଯୁଦ୍ଧ ଲାଗିଥିବା ବେଳେ ଅବ୍ନର ଶାଉଲ ବଂଶ ମଧ୍ୟରେ ଆପଣାକୁ ବଳବାନ କଲା।
And it came to pass, while there was war between the house of Saul and the house of David, that Abner made himself strong for the house of Saul.
7 ମାତ୍ର ଶାଉଲଙ୍କର ଏକ ଉପପତ୍ନୀ ଥିଲା, ତାହାର ନାମ ରିସ୍ପା, ସେ ଅୟାର କନ୍ୟା; ପୁଣି ଈଶ୍ବୋଶତ ଅବ୍ନରକୁ କହିଲା, “ତୁମ୍ଭେ କାହିଁକି ମୋହର ପିତାଙ୍କ ଉପପତ୍ନୀ ସହିତ ସହବାସ କଲ?”
And Saul had a concubine, whose name was Rizpah, the daughter of Aiah: and Ishbosheth said to Abner, Why hast thou gone in to my father’s concubine?
8 ତେବେ ଅବ୍ନର ଈଶ୍ବୋଶତର କଥା ସକାଶୁ ଅତି କ୍ରୋଧ କରି କହିଲା, “ମୁଁ କି ଯିହୁଦାର କୁକ୍କୁର ମୁଣ୍ଡ? ମୁଁ ଆଜି ତୁମ୍ଭ ପିତା ଶାଉଲ ବଂଶକୁ ଓ ତାଙ୍କର ଭାଇ ଓ ବନ୍ଧୁମାନଙ୍କୁ ଦୟା କରୁଅଛି, ମଧ୍ୟ ତୁମ୍ଭକୁ ଦାଉଦ ହସ୍ତରେ ସମର୍ପଣ କରି ନାହିଁ, ତଥାପି ତୁମ୍ଭେ ଆଜି ଏହି ସ୍ତ୍ରୀ ବିଷୟରେ ମୋʼ ଉପରେ ଆରୋପ କରୁଅଛ?
Then was Abner very angry for the words of Ishbosheth, and said, Am I a dog’s head, who against Judah do show kindness this day to the house of Saul thy father, to his brethren, and to his friends, and have not delivered thee into the hand of David, that thou chargest me to day with a fault concerning this woman?
9 ଶାଉଲ ବଂଶରୁ ରାଜ୍ୟ ଅନ୍ତର କରିବାକୁ ଓ ଦାନ୍ଠାରୁ ବେର୍ଶେବା ପର୍ଯ୍ୟନ୍ତ ଇସ୍ରାଏଲ ଓ ଯିହୁଦା ଉପରେ ଦାଉଦଙ୍କର ସିଂହାସନ ସ୍ଥାପନ କରିବାକୁ,
So do God to Abner, and more also, except, as the LORD hath sworn to David, even so I do to him;
10 ସଦାପ୍ରଭୁ ଦାଉଦଙ୍କ ବିଷୟରେ ଯେଉଁ ଶପଥ କରିଅଛନ୍ତି, ତଦନୁସାରେ ଯଦି ମୁଁ ତାଙ୍କ ପ୍ରତି ନ କରେ, ତେବେ ପରମେଶ୍ୱର ଅବ୍ନରକୁ ସେହି ଦଣ୍ଡ ଓ ତହିଁରୁ ଅଧିକ ଦିଅନ୍ତୁ।”
To pass on the kingdom from the house of Saul, and to set up the throne of David over Israel and over Judah, from Dan even to Beersheba.
11 ତହିଁରେ ସେ ଅବ୍ନରକୁ ଗୋଟିଏ କଥା ଉତ୍ତର ଦେଇ ପାରିଲା ନାହିଁ, କାରଣ ସେ ତାହାକୁ ଭୟ କଲା।
And he could not answer Abner a word again, because he feared him.
12 ଏଉତ୍ତାରେ ଅବ୍ନର ଆପଣା ପକ୍ଷରୁ ଦାଉଦଙ୍କ ନିକଟକୁ ବାର୍ତ୍ତାବହ ପଠାଇ କହିଲା, “ଏ ଦେଶ କାହାର?” ଆହୁରି କହିଲା, “ଆପଣ ମୋʼ ସଙ୍ଗରେ ନିୟମ କରନ୍ତୁ, ତହିଁରେ ଦେଖନ୍ତୁ, ସମସ୍ତ ଇସ୍ରାଏଲକୁ ଆପଣଙ୍କ ନିକଟକୁ ଆଣିବା ପାଇଁ ମୋʼ ହସ୍ତ ଆପଣଙ୍କର ସହାୟ ହେବ।”
And Abner sent messengers to David on his behalf, saying, Whose is the land? saying also, Make thy league with me, and, behold, my hand shall be with thee, to bring about all Israel to thee.
13 ଏଥିରେ ଦାଉଦ କହିଲେ, “ଭଲ; ମୁଁ ତୁମ୍ଭ ସଙ୍ଗରେ ନିୟମ କରିବି; ମାତ୍ର ମୁଁ ତୁମ୍ଭଠାରୁ ଗୋଟିଏ କଥା ଚାହେଁ, ତାହା ଏହି, ତୁମ୍ଭେ ମୋʼ ମୁଖ ଦେଖିବାକୁ ଆସିବା ବେଳେ ପ୍ରଥମେ ଶାଉଲଙ୍କର କନ୍ୟା ମୀଖଲକୁ ନ ଆଣିଲେ ମୋʼ ମୁଖ ଦେଖି ପାରିବ ନାହିଁ।”
And he said, Well; I will make a league with thee: but one thing I require of thee, that is, Thou shalt not see my face, except thou shalt first bring Michal Saul’s daughter, when thou comest to see my face.
14 ତହୁଁ ଦାଉଦ ଶାଉଲଙ୍କର ପୁତ୍ର ଈଶ୍ବୋଶତ ନିକଟକୁ ବାର୍ତ୍ତାବହମାନଙ୍କୁ ପଠାଇ କହିଲେ, “ମୁଁ ପଲେଷ୍ଟୀୟମାନଙ୍କର ଏକ ଶହ ସୁନ୍ନତ ଚର୍ମ ଦେଇ ଯାହାକୁ ବିବାହ କରିଅଛି, ମୋହର ଭାର୍ଯ୍ୟା ସେହି ମୀଖଲକୁ ମୋତେ ଦିଅ।”
And David sent messengers to Ishbosheth Saul’s son, saying, Deliver to me my wife Michal, whom I betrothed to me for an hundred foreskins of the Philistines.
15 ତହିଁରେ ଈଶ୍ବୋଶତ ଲୋକ ପଠାଇ ଲୟିଶର ପୁତ୍ର ପଲ୍ଟୀୟେଲ ନାମକ ତାହାର ସ୍ୱାମୀ ନିକଟରୁ ମୀଖଲକୁ ନେଲା।
And Ishbosheth sent, and took her from her husband, even from Phaltiel the son of Laish.
16 ଏଣୁ ତାହାର ସ୍ୱାମୀ ରୋଦନ କରି କରି ତାହା ସଙ୍ଗେ ଆସି ବହୁରୀମ ନଗର ପର୍ଯ୍ୟନ୍ତ ତାହା ପଛେ ପଛେ ଗଲା। ଏଥିରେ ଅବ୍ନର ତାହାକୁ କହିଲା, “ଯାଅ ଗୃହକୁ ଫେରିଯାଅ,” ତହୁଁ ସେ ଫେରିଗଲା।
And her husband went with her weeping behind her to Bahurim. Then said Abner to him, Go, return. And he returned.
17 ଏଥିଉତ୍ତାରେ ଅବ୍ନର ଇସ୍ରାଏଲର ପ୍ରାଚୀନବର୍ଗ ସହିତ ଏରୂପ କଥାବାର୍ତ୍ତା କଲା, “ପୂର୍ବରେ ତୁମ୍ଭେମାନେ ଆପଣାମାନଙ୍କ ଉପରେ ରାଜା ହେବା ପାଇଁ ଦାଉଦଙ୍କୁ ଚାହିଁ ଥିଲ;
And Abner had communication with the elders of Israel, saying, Ye sought for David in times past to be king over you:
18 ଏବେ ତାହା କର; କାରଣ ସଦାପ୍ରଭୁ ଦାଉଦଙ୍କ ବିଷୟରେ କହିଅଛନ୍ତି, ‘ଆମ୍ଭେ ଆପଣା ଦାସ ଦାଉଦର ହସ୍ତ ଦ୍ୱାରା ଆପଣା ଇସ୍ରାଏଲ ଲୋକମାନଙ୍କୁ ପଲେଷ୍ଟୀୟମାନଙ୍କ ହସ୍ତରୁ ଓ ସେମାନଙ୍କ ସମସ୍ତ ଶତ୍ରୁ ହସ୍ତରୁ ଉଦ୍ଧାର କରିବା।’”
Now then do it: for the LORD hath spoken of David, saying, By the hand of my servant David I will save my people Israel from the hand of the Philistines, and from the hand of all their enemies.
19 ଆଉ ଅବ୍ନର ବିନ୍ୟାମୀନ୍ର କର୍ଣ୍ଣଗୋଚରରେ ମଧ୍ୟ ସେହି କଥା କହିଲା; ପୁଣି ଇସ୍ରାଏଲ ଓ ବିନ୍ୟାମୀନ୍ର ସମସ୍ତ ବଂଶ ଦୃଷ୍ଟିରେ ଯାହା ଭଲ ଦେଖାଗଲା, ଅବ୍ନର ସେହି ସମସ୍ତ କଥା ଦାଉଦଙ୍କର କର୍ଣ୍ଣଗୋଚରରେ ମଧ୍ୟ କହିବା ପାଇଁ ହିବ୍ରୋଣକୁ ଯାତ୍ରା କଲା।
And Abner also spoke in the ears of Benjamin: and Abner went also to speak in the ears of David in Hebron all that seemed good to Israel, and that seemed good to the whole house of Benjamin.
20 ଏରୂପେ ଅବ୍ନର ଆପଣା ସଙ୍ଗରେ କୋଡ଼ିଏ ଜଣକୁ ନେଇ ହିବ୍ରୋଣରେ ଦାଉଦଙ୍କ ନିକଟରେ ଉପସ୍ଥିତ ହେଲା। ତହିଁରେ ଦାଉଦ ଅବ୍ନର ଓ ତାହାର ସଙ୍ଗୀ ଲୋକମାନଙ୍କ ପାଇଁ ଭୋଜ ପ୍ରସ୍ତୁତ କଲେ।
So Abner came to David in Hebron, and twenty men with him. And David made Abner and the men that were with him a feast.
21 ଏଉତ୍ତାରେ ଅବ୍ନର ଦାଉଦଙ୍କୁ କହିଲା, “ମୁଁ ଉଠିଯାଇ ସମସ୍ତ ଇସ୍ରାଏଲକୁ ମୋହର ପ୍ରଭୁ ମହାରାଜଙ୍କ ନିକଟରେ ସଂଗ୍ରହ କରିବି; ତହିଁରେ ସେମାନେ ଆପଣଙ୍କ ସହିତ ନିୟମ କରିବେ ଓ ଆପଣ ସମସ୍ତଙ୍କ ଉପରେ ନିଜ ପ୍ରାଣର ଇଚ୍ଛାମତେ ରାଜତ୍ୱ କରିବେ।” ତହୁଁ ଦାଉଦ ଅବ୍ନରକୁ ବିଦାୟ କରନ୍ତେ, ସେ କୁଶଳରେ ପ୍ରସ୍ଥାନ କଲା।
And Abner said to David, I will arise and go, and will gather all Israel to my lord the king, that they may make a league with thee, and that thou mayest reign over all that thy heart desireth. And David sent Abner away; and he went in peace.
22 ଏଉତ୍ତାରେ, ଦାଉଦଙ୍କର ସୈନ୍ୟଦଳ ଓ ଯୋୟାବ ପ୍ରଚୁର ଲୁଟିତ ଦ୍ରବ୍ୟ ସଙ୍ଗରେ ନେଇ ଆସିଲେ; ମାତ୍ର ଅବ୍ନର ହିବ୍ରୋଣରେ ଦାଉଦଙ୍କ ସଙ୍ଗରେ ନ ଥିଲା, କାରଣ ଦାଉଦ ତାହାକୁ ବିଦାୟ କରିବାରୁ ସେ କୁଶଳରେ ଯାଇଥିଲା।
And, behold, the servants of David and Joab came from pursuing a troop, and brought in a great spoil with them: but Abner was not with David in Hebron; for he had sent him away, and he had gone in peace.
23 ଯୋୟାବ ଓ ତାହାର ସଙ୍ଗୀ ସୈନ୍ୟଦଳ ଉପସ୍ଥିତ ହୁଅନ୍ତେ, ଲୋକମାନେ ଯୋୟାବକୁ କହିଲେ, “ନେର୍ର ପୁତ୍ର ଅବ୍ନର ରାଜାଙ୍କ ନିକଟକୁ ଆସିଥିଲା ଓ ସେ ତାହାକୁ ବିଦାୟ କରିବାରୁ ସେ କୁଶଳରେ ଯାଇଅଛି।”
When Joab and all the host that was with him had come, they told Joab, saying, Abner the son of Ner came to the king, and he hath sent him away, and he hath gone in peace.
24 ଏଥିରେ ଯୋୟାବ ରାଜାଙ୍କ ନିକଟକୁ ଆସି କହିଲା, “ଆପଣ କଅଣ କଲେ? ଦେଖନ୍ତୁ, ଅବ୍ନର ଆପଣଙ୍କ ନିକଟକୁ ଆସିଥିଲା, ଆପଣ କାହିଁକି ତାହାକୁ ବିଦାୟ କରିଦେଲେ, ସେ ତ ଗଲାଣି?
Then Joab came to the king, and said, What hast thou done? behold, Abner came to thee; why is it that thou hast sent him away, and he is quite gone?
25 ଆପଣ କʼଣ ଜାଣନ୍ତି ନାହିଁ, ନେର୍ର ପୁତ୍ର ଅବ୍ନର ଆପଣଙ୍କୁ ଭୁଲାଇବାକୁ ଓ ଆପଣଙ୍କ ଗମନାଗମନ ଜାଣିବାକୁ ଓ ଆପଣ ଯାହା ଯାହା କରନ୍ତି, ସେହି ସବୁ ଜାଣିବାକୁ ଆସିଥିଲା?”
Thou knowest Abner the son of Ner, that he came to deceive thee, and to know thy going out and thy coming in, and to know all that thou doest.
26 ଏଉତ୍ତାରେ ଯୋୟାବ ଦାଉଦଙ୍କ ନିକଟରୁ ବାହାରି ଆସି ଅବ୍ନରର ପଛରେ ବାର୍ତ୍ତାବହ ପଠାନ୍ତେ, ସେମାନେ ସିରା କୂପ ନିକଟରୁ ତାହାକୁ ଫେରାଇ ଆଣିଲେ; ମାତ୍ର ଦାଉଦ ଏହା ଜାଣିଲେ ନାହିଁ।
And when Joab had come out from David, he sent messengers after Abner, who brought him again from the well of Sirah: but David knew it not.
27 ପୁଣି ଅବ୍ନର ହିବ୍ରୋଣକୁ ଫେରି ଆସନ୍ତେ, ଯୋୟାବ ତାହା ସଙ୍ଗରେ ନିରୋଳାରେ ଆଳାପ କରିବା ପାଇଁ ତାହାକୁ ନଗରର ଦ୍ୱାର ଭିତରକୁ ନେଇଗଲା, ମାତ୍ର ଆପଣା ଭାଇ ଅସାହେଲର ରକ୍ତପାତ ସକାଶୁ ତାହାର ପେଟରେ ଆଘାତ କରନ୍ତେ, ସେ ମଲା।
And when Abner had returned to Hebron, Joab took him aside in the gate to speak with him quietly, and smote him there under the fifth rib, that he died, for the blood of Asahel his brother.
28 ଏଥିଉତ୍ତାରେ ଦାଉଦ ତାହା ଶୁଣି କହିଲେ, “ନେର୍ର ପୁତ୍ର ଅବ୍ନରର ରକ୍ତପାତ ବିଷୟରେ ମୁଁ ଓ ମୋହର ରାଜ୍ୟ ସଦାପ୍ରଭୁଙ୍କ ସାକ୍ଷାତରେ ଅନନ୍ତକାଳ ନିର୍ଦ୍ଦୋଷ;
And afterward when David heard it, he said, I and my kingdom are guiltless before the LORD for ever from the blood of Abner the son of Ner:
29 ତାହା ଯୋୟାବର ମସ୍ତକରେ ଓ ତାହାର ପିତୃବଂଶ ସମସ୍ତଙ୍କ ଉପରେ ବର୍ତ୍ତୁ ଓ ଯୋୟାବ-ବଂଶରେ ପ୍ରମେହୀ କି କୁଷ୍ଠୀ କି ଯଷ୍ଟିରେ ନିର୍ଭରଶୀଳ କି ଖଡ୍ଗହତ କି ଭକ୍ଷ୍ୟହୀନ ଲୋକର ଅଭାବ ନ ହେଉ।”
Let it rest on the head of Joab, and on all his father’s house; and let there never cease from the house of Joab one that hath an issue, or that is a leper, or that leaneth on a staff, or that falleth on the sword, or that lacketh bread.
30 ଏହିରୂପେ ଯୋୟାବ ଓ ତାହାର ଭାଇ ଅବୀଶୟ, ଅବ୍ନରକୁ ବଧ କଲେ; ଯେହେତୁ ସେ ଗିବୀୟୋନ୍ରେ ଯୁଦ୍ଧ ସମୟରେ ସେମାନଙ୍କ ଭାଇ ଅସାହେଲକୁ ମାରିଥିଲା।
So Joab and Abishai his brother slew Abner, because he had slain their brother Asahel at Gibeon in the battle.
31 ଏଥିଉତ୍ତାରେ ଦାଉଦ ଯୋୟାବକୁ ଓ ତାହାର ସଙ୍ଗୀ ଲୋକ ସମସ୍ତଙ୍କୁ କହିଲେ, “ତୁମ୍ଭେମାନେ ଆପଣା ଆପଣା ବସ୍ତ୍ର ଚିରି ଅଖା ପିନ୍ଧ ଓ ଅବ୍ନରର ଆଗେ ଆଗେ ଶୋକ କରି ଚାଲ।” ପୁଣି ଦାଉଦ ରାଜା ଶବଶଯ୍ୟାର ପଛେ ପଛେ ଚାଲିଲେ।
And David said to Joab, and to all the people that were with him, Rend your clothes, and gird yourselves with sackcloth, and mourn before Abner. And king David himself followed the bier.
32 ଆଉ ସେମାନେ ହିବ୍ରୋଣରେ ଅବ୍ନରକୁ କବର ଦେଲେ ଓ ରାଜା ରବ ଉଠାଇ ଅବ୍ନର-କବର ନିକଟରେ ରୋଦନ କଲେ ଓ ସମସ୍ତ ଲୋକ ମଧ୍ୟ ରୋଦନ କଲେ।
And they buried Abner in Hebron: and the king lifted up his voice, and wept at the grave of Abner; and all the people wept.
33 ପୁଣି ରାଜା ଅବ୍ନର ପାଇଁ ବିଳାପ କରି କହିଲେ, “ଯେପରି ମୂଢ଼ ମରେ, ସେପରି କି ଅବ୍ନରକୁ ମରିବାକୁ ହେଲା?
And the king lamented over Abner, and said, Died Abner as a fool dieth?
34 ତୁମ୍ଭ ହାତ ବନ୍ଧା ନ ଥିଲା, କି ବେଡ଼ିରେ ତୁମ୍ଭ ପାଦ ବନ୍ଧା ନ ଥିଲା; ଯେପରି ମନୁଷ୍ୟ ଅଧର୍ମୀ-ସନ୍ତାନମାନଙ୍କ ଆଗରେ ପଡ଼େ, ସେପରି ତୁମ୍ଭେ ପଡ଼ିଲ।” ଏଥିରେ ସମସ୍ତ ଲୋକ ପୁନର୍ବାର ତାହା ପାଇଁ ରୋଦନ କଲେ।
Thy hands were not bound, nor thy feet put into fetters: as a man falleth before wicked men, so fellest thou. And all the people wept again over him.
35 ଏଉତ୍ତାରେ ଦିନ ଥାଉ ଥାଉ ଦାଉଦଙ୍କୁ ଭୋଜନ କରାଇବା ନିମନ୍ତେ ସମସ୍ତ ଲୋକ ଆସିଲେ; ମାତ୍ର ଦାଉଦ ଶପଥ କରି କହିଲେ, “ସୂର୍ଯ୍ୟାସ୍ତ ପର୍ଯ୍ୟନ୍ତ ଯେବେ ମୁଁ ରୁଟି କି ଆଉ କିଛି ସ୍ପର୍ଶ କରେ, ତେବେ ପରମେଶ୍ୱର ମୋତେ ସେହି ଦଣ୍ଡ ଓ ତହିଁରୁ ଅଧିକ ଦିଅନ୍ତୁ।”
And when all the people came to cause David to eat food while it was yet day, David swore, saying, So do God to me, and more also, if I taste bread, or any thing else, till the sun is down.
36 ତହିଁରେ ସମସ୍ତ ଲୋକ ବୁଝିଲେ ଓ ତାହା ସେମାନଙ୍କ ଦୃଷ୍ଟିରେ ଭଲ ଦେଖାଗଲା; ରାଜା ମଧ୍ୟ ଯାହା ଯାହା କଲେ, ତାହାସବୁ ସମସ୍ତ ଲୋକଙ୍କ ଦୃଷ୍ଟିରେ ଭଲ ଥିଲା।
And all the people took notice of it, and it pleased them: as whatever the king did pleased all the people.
37 ଏହିରୂପେ ନେର୍ର ପୁତ୍ର ଅବ୍ନରକୁ ବଧ କରାଇବା ଯେ ରାଜାଙ୍କ ଆଡ଼ୁ ହୋଇ ନାହିଁ, ଏହା ସମସ୍ତ ଲୋକ ଓ ସମୁଦାୟ ଇସ୍ରାଏଲ ସେହି ଦିନ ଜାଣିଲେ।
For all the people and all Israel understood that day that it was not of the king to slay Abner the son of Ner.
38 ଆହୁରି ରାଜା ଆପଣା ଦାସମାନଙ୍କୁ କହିଲେ, “ଆଜି ଇସ୍ରାଏଲ ମଧ୍ୟରେ ଜଣେ ଅଧିପତି ଓ ମହାନ ପୁରୁଷ ଯେ ପତିତ ହେଲା, ଏହା କି ତୁମ୍ଭେମାନେ ଜାଣ ନାହିଁ?
And the king said to his servants, Know ye not that there hath a prince and a great man fallen this day in Israel?
39 ଏଣୁ ମୁଁ ରାଜାଭିଷିକ୍ତ ହେଲେ ହେଁ ଆଜି ଦୁର୍ବଳ ହେଲି; ଏହି ପୁରୁଷମାନେ, ଅର୍ଥାତ୍, ସରୁୟାର ପୁତ୍ରମାନେ ଆମ୍ଭ ପ୍ରତି ନିଷ୍ଠୁର; ସଦାପ୍ରଭୁ ଏହି କୁକ୍ରିୟାକାରୀକୁ ତାହାର କୁକର୍ମ ଅନୁସାରେ ପ୍ରତିଫଳ ଦିଅନ୍ତୁ।”
And I am this day weak, though anointed king; and these men the sons of Zeruiah are too hard for me: the LORD shall reward the doer of evil according to his wickedness.
