ଦ୍ୱିତୀୟ ଶାମୁୟେଲ 20

1 ସେହି ସମୟରେ ବିନ୍ୟାମୀନୀୟ ବିଖ୍ରିର ପୁତ୍ର ଶେବଃ ନାମରେ ଜଣେ ଅସୁବିଧା ସୃଷ୍ଟିକାରୀ ଲୋକ ସେଠାରେ ଥିଲା; ପୁଣି ସେ ତୂରୀ ବଜାଇ କହିଲା, “ଦାଉଦଠାରେ ଆମ୍ଭମାନଙ୍କର କୌଣସି ଅଂଶ ନାହିଁ, କିଅବା ଯିଶୀର ପୁତ୍ରଠାରେ ଆମ୍ଭମାନଙ୍କର ଅଧିକାର ନାହିଁ; ହେ ଇସ୍ରାଏଲ, ପ୍ରତ୍ୟେକେ ଆପଣା ଆପଣା ତମ୍ବୁକୁ ଚାଲ।”

Now there happened to be a worthless man, whose name was Sheba, the son of Bikri, a Benjamite. And he blew the trumpet, and said, "We have no share in David, nor do we have any inheritance in the son of Jesse. Every man to his tents, Israel."

2 ତହିଁରେ ସମଗ୍ର ଇସ୍ରାଏଲ ଲୋକ ଦାଉଦଙ୍କର ପଶ୍ଚାତ୍‍ଗମନରୁ ଫେରି ବିଖ୍ରିିର ପୁତ୍ର ଶେବଃର ପଶ୍ଚାତ୍‍ଗମନ କଲେ; ମାତ୍ର ଯର୍ଦ୍ଦନଠାରୁ ଯିରୂଶାଲମ ପର୍ଯ୍ୟନ୍ତ ଯିହୁଦା-ଲୋକମାନେ ଆପଣା ରାଜାଙ୍କଠାରେ ଆସକ୍ତ ରହିଲେ।

So all Israel deserted David and followed Sheba the son of Bikri, but the men of Judah stayed by their king, from the Jordan to Jerusalem.

3 ଏଉତ୍ତାରେ ଦାଉଦ ଯିରୂଶାଲମର ଆପଣା ପ୍ରାସାଦକୁ ଆସିଲେ; ପୁଣି ରାଜା ଆପଣାର ଯେଉଁ ଦଶ ଉପପତ୍ନୀଙ୍କୁ ପ୍ରାସାଦ ଜଗିବାକୁ ଛାଡ଼ି ଯାଇଥିଲେ, ସେମାନଙ୍କୁ ପ୍ରହରୀ-ଗୃହରେ ରଖି ଖାଦ୍ୟ ଯୋଗାଇଲେ, ମାତ୍ର ସେମାନଙ୍କ ସହିତ ସହବାସ କଲେ ନାହିଁ। ଏଣୁ ସେମାନେ ମରଣ ଦିନ ପର୍ଯ୍ୟନ୍ତ ରୁଦ୍ଧ ହୋଇ ବିଧବା ପରି ରହିଲେ।

Then David came to his palace at Jerusalem, and the king took the ten women his secondary wives, whom he had left to keep the palace, and placed them under guard, and provided for them, but did not go in to them. So they were kept in confinement until the day of their death, living as widows.

4 ଏଉତ୍ତାରେ ରାଜା ଅମାସାଙ୍କୁ କହିଲେ, “ତିନି ଦିନ ମଧ୍ୟରେ ଯିହୁଦାର ଲୋକମାନଙ୍କୁ ଡକାଇ ମୋʼ ଠାରେ ଏକତ୍ର କର ଓ ତୁମ୍ଭେ ମଧ୍ୟ ଉପସ୍ଥିତ ହୁଅ।”

Then the king said to Amasa, "Summon the men of Judah to me within three days, and be present here yourself."

5 ତହିଁରେ ଅମାସା ଯିହୁଦାର ଲୋକମାନଙ୍କୁ ଡାକି ଏକତ୍ର କରିବାକୁ ଗଲା; ମାତ୍ର ସେ ରାଜାଙ୍କ ଦତ୍ତ ନିରୂପିତ ସମୟରୁ ଅଧିକ ବିଳମ୍ବ କଲା।

So Amasa went to summon Judah together, but he delayed beyond the set time that had been allotted him.

6 ତହିଁରେ ଦାଉଦ ଅବୀଶୟକୁ କହିଲେ, “ଏବେ ଅବଶାଲୋମ ଅପେକ୍ଷା ବିଖ୍ରିିର ପୁତ୍ର ଶେବଃ ଆମ୍ଭମାନଙ୍କର ଅଧିକ ଅନିଷ୍ଟ କରିବ; ତୁମ୍ଭେ ଆପଣା ପ୍ରଭୁଙ୍କ ଦାସମାନଙ୍କୁ ଓ ସୈନ୍ୟମାନଙ୍କୁ ନେଇ ତାହାର ପଛେ ପଛେ ଗୋଡ଼ାଅ, ନୋହିଲେ ସେ ପ୍ରାଚୀର-ବେଷ୍ଟିତ କୌଣସି କୌଣସି ନଗରକୁ ଯାଇ ଆମ୍ଭମାନଙ୍କ ଦୃଷ୍ଟିରୁ ପଳାଇବ।”

David said to Abishai, "Now Sheba the son of Bikri will do us more harm than Absalom did. Now then, take your lord's servants with you and pursue after him, otherwise he will get himself to fortified cities and escape from us."

7 ଏଣୁ ଯୋୟାବର ଲୋକ ଓ କରେଥୀୟ ଓ ପଲେଥୀୟ ଲୋକ ଓ ସମସ୍ତ ବୀର ଲୋକମାନେ ତାହା ପଛରେ ବାହାରିଲେ, ଆଉ ସେମାନେ ଯିରୂଶାଲମରୁ ବାହାରି ବିଖ୍ରିିର ପୁତ୍ର ଶେବଃର ପଛେ ପଛେ ଗୋଡ଼ାଇଲେ।

So there went out after him Joab's men and the Cherethites and the Pelethites, and all the warriors. And they went out from Jerusalem to pursue Sheba son of Bikri.

8 ସେମାନେ ଗିବୀୟୋନ୍‍ସ୍ଥ ବୃହତ ପ୍ରସ୍ତର ନିକଟରେ ଉପସ୍ଥିତ ହୁଅନ୍ତେ, ଅମାସା ସେମାନଙ୍କର ନିକଟକୁ ଆସିଲେ। ସେହି ସମୟରେ ଯୋୟାବ ଆପଣା ପରିହିତ ଯୁଦ୍ଧବସ୍ତ୍ର ଭିଡ଼ି ପିନ୍ଧିଥିଲା, ତହିଁ ଉପରେ ଏକ କଟିବନ୍ଧନ ଓ କୋଷାବଦ୍ଧ ଖଡ୍ଗ ତାହାର କଟିଦେଶରେ ବନ୍ଧା ଥିଲା; ପୁଣି ସେ ଯାଉ ଯାଉ ତାହା ବାହାରି ପଡ଼ିଲା।

When they were at the great stone that is in Gibeon, Amasa came to meet them. And Joab was wearing his military attire, and over it was a belt with a dagger in its sheath fastened at his waist, and as he advanced it fell out.

9 ଏଥିରେ ଯୋୟାବ ଅମାସାଙ୍କୁ ପଚାରିଲା, “କି ଭାଇ, ସବୁ ମଙ୍ଗଳ ତ?” ତହୁଁ ଯୋୟାବ ଅମାସାଙ୍କୁ ଚୁମ୍ବନ କରିବା ପାଇଁ ଆପଣା ଦକ୍ଷିଣ ହସ୍ତରେ ତାହାର ଦାଢ଼ି ଧରିଲା।

And Joab said to Amasa, "Is it well with you, my brother?" Then Joab took Amasa by the beard with his right hand to kiss him.

10 ମାତ୍ର ଯୋୟାବର ବାମ ହସ୍ତରେ ଥିବା ଖଡ୍ଗ ପ୍ରତି ଅମାସା କିଛି ମନୋଯୋଗ କଲା ନାହିଁ; ତହୁଁ ଯୋୟାବ ସେହି ଖଡ୍ଗରେ ତାହାର ଉଦରକୁ ଆଘାତ କରି ତାହାର ଅନ୍ତବୁଜୁଳି କାଢ଼ି ଭୂମିରେ ପକାଇଦେଲା, ସେ ଦ୍ୱିତୀୟ ଥର ଆଘାତ କଲା ନାହିଁ; ତହିଁରେ ହିଁ ସେ ମଲା। ଏଉତ୍ତାରେ ଯୋୟାବ ଓ ତାହାର ଭ୍ରାତା ଅବୀଶୟ ବିଖ୍ରିିର ପୁତ୍ର ଶେବଃର ପଛେ ଗୋଡ଼ାଇଲେ।

But Amasa did not notice the sword that was in Joab's hand. And he stabbed him with it in the abdomen, so that his intestines spilled out on the ground, and he did not do it to him again. Thus he died. Then Joab and Abishai his brother pursued Sheba son of Bikri.

11 ଏଥିମଧ୍ୟରେ ଯୋୟାବର ଜଣେ ଲୋକ ତାହା ନିକଟରେ ଠିଆ ହୋଇ କହିଲା, “ଯେ ଯୋୟାବକୁ ଭଲ ପାଏ ଓ ଯେ ଦାଉଦଙ୍କର ପକ୍ଷ, ସେ ଯୋୟାବର ପଛେ ଯାଉ।”

And one of Joab's young men stood beside Amasa and said, "Whoever is the one that favors Joab and whoever belongs to David, follow Joab."

12 ସେସମୟରେ ଅମାସା ରାସ୍ତା ମଧ୍ୟରେ ଆପଣା ରକ୍ତରେ ଲଟ୍‍ପଟ୍‍ ହୋଇ ପଡ଼ିଥିଲା। ପୁଣି ସେହି ମନୁଷ୍ୟ ସମସ୍ତ ଲୋକଙ୍କୁ ଠିଆ ହେବାର ଦେଖି ଅମାସାଙ୍କୁ ରାସ୍ତାରୁ କ୍ଷେତ୍ରକୁ ନେଇଗଲା, ଆଉ ଯେତେ ଲୋକ ତାହା ନିକଟ ଦେଇ ଆସିଲେ, ପ୍ରତ୍ୟେକଙ୍କୁ ଠିଆ ହେବାର ଦେଖନ୍ତେ, ସେ ତାହା ଉପରେ ଖଣ୍ଡେ ବସ୍ତ୍ର ପକାଇଦେଲା।

But Amasa lay covered with his blood in the midst of the road, and anyone who came by, seeing him, stopped. So when the man saw that all the people stopped, he dragged Amasa from the road into a field and threw a garment over him.

13 ଅମାସା ରାସ୍ତାରୁ ବାହର କରାଯାʼନ୍ତେ, ସମସ୍ତ ଲୋକ ବିଖ୍ରିିର ପୁତ୍ର ଶେବଃର ପଛେ ଗୋଡ଼ାଇବା ପାଇଁ ଯୋୟାବର ଅନୁଗାମୀ ହେଲେ।

When he was removed from the road, all the people followed Joab in pursuit of Sheba son of Bikri.

14 ଏଉତ୍ତାରେ ଯୋୟାବ ଇସ୍ରାଏଲର ସମସ୍ତ ବଂଶ ମଧ୍ୟଦେଇ ଆବେଲ୍‍ ଓ ବେଥ୍‍ମାଖା ଓ ସମସ୍ତ ବେରୀମ୍‍ ଅଞ୍ଚଳ ପର୍ଯ୍ୟନ୍ତ ଗମନ କଲା; ତହିଁରେ ଲୋକମାନେ ଏକତ୍ରିତ ହେଲେ, ମଧ୍ୟ ତାହାର ପଛେ ପଛେ ଗମନ କଲେ।

He went through all the tribes of Israel to Abel of Beth Maacah, and all the Bikrites assembled and followed him.

15 ପୁଣି ସେମାନେ ଆସି ବେଥ୍‍-ମାଖାସ୍ଥିତ ଆବେଲ୍‍ରେ ଶେବଃଙ୍କୁ ଆକ୍ରମଣ କଲେ ଓ ନଗର ନିକଟରେ ଓ ଗଡ଼-ପାଚେରୀ ନିକଟରେ ଏକ ଢିପିନିର୍ମିତ ହେଲା; ତହିଁରେ ଯୋୟାବର ସହିତ ଥିବା ସମସ୍ତ ସୈନ୍ୟ ପାଚେରୀ ଭୂମିସାତ୍‍ କରିବା ପାଇଁ ଭାଙ୍ଗିବାକୁ ଲାଗିଲେ।

And all the people who were with Joab came and besieged him in Abel of Beth Maacah. And they built a siege ramp against the city, and it stood against the rampart, and they were battering the wall so that it would collapse.

16 ସେତେବେଳେ ନଗର ମଧ୍ୟରୁ ଏକ ବୁଦ୍ଧିମତୀ ସ୍ତ୍ରୀ ଡାକି କହିଲା, “ଶୁଣ, ଶୁଣ! ମୁଁ ବିନୟ କରୁଅଛି, ଯୋୟାବକୁ ଏହି ସ୍ଥାନକୁ ଆସିବାକୁ କୁହ, ଯେପରି ମୁଁ ତାଙ୍କ ସହିତ କଥାବାର୍ତ୍ତା କରିପାରେ।”

Then a wise woman called out from the wall, "Listen, listen. Please tell Joab to come here so that I may speak to him.

17 ତହୁଁ ସେ ତାହା ନିକଟକୁ ଆସନ୍ତେ, ସେ ସ୍ତ୍ରୀ ପଚାରିଲା, “ଆପଣ କʼଣ ଯୋୟାବ?” ସେ ଉତ୍ତର କଲା, “ହଁ।” ତେବେ ସେ ସ୍ତ୍ରୀ ତାହାକୁ କହିଲା, “ଆପଣା ଦାସୀର କଥା ଶୁଣନ୍ତୁ।” ସେ ଉତ୍ତର କଲା, “ମୁଁ ଶୁଣୁଅଛି।”

So he approached her, and the woman said, "Are you Joab?" And he replied, "I am." Then she said, "Listen to the words of your servant." And he replied, "I'm listening."

18 ତହୁଁ ସେ କହିଲା, “ପୂର୍ବକାଳରେ ଲୋକମାନେ କହୁଥାʼନ୍ତି, ‘ଲୋକେ ଆବେଲ୍‍ରେ ଅବଶ୍ୟ ପରାମର୍ଶ ପଚାରିବେ,’ ଆଉ ଏହିରୂପେ କାର୍ଯ୍ୟ ସମାପ୍ତ ହେବ।

Then she said, "In the past they used to say, 'Let them inquire in Abel and in Dan whether

19 ମୁଁ ଇସ୍ରାଏଲର ଶାନ୍ତ ଓ ବିଶ୍ୱସ୍ତ ଲୋକମାନଙ୍କ ମଧ୍ୟରୁ ଜଣେ; ଆପଣ ଏକ ନଗରକୁ ଓ ଇସ୍ରାଏଲ ମଧ୍ୟରେ ଏକ ମାତାକୁ ବିନାଶ କରିବା ପାଇଁ ଚେଷ୍ଟା କରୁଅଛନ୍ତି; ଆପଣ ସଦାପ୍ରଭୁଙ୍କ ଅଧିକାରକୁ କାହିଁକି ଗ୍ରାସ କରିବେ?”

that which the faithful of Israel established has been carried out.' You seek to destroy a city that is a mother in Israel. Why do you want to swallow up the inheritance of the LORD?"

20 ଏଥିରେ ଯୋୟାବ ଉତ୍ତର କରି କହିଲା, “ଏହା ଦୂର ହେଉ, ମୁଁ ଯେ ଗ୍ରାସ କରିବି କି ବିନାଶ କରିବି, ତାହା ମୋʼ ଠାରୁ ଦୂର ହେଉ।

Joab answered, "Far be it from me that I should swallow up or destroy.

21 କଥା ସେପରି ନୁହେଁ; ମାତ୍ର ବିଖ୍ରିିର ପୁତ୍ର ଶେବଃ ନାମରେ ଜଣେ ଇଫ୍ରୟିମ-ପର୍ବତମୟ ଦେଶୀୟ ଲୋକ ଦାଉଦ ରାଜାଙ୍କ ପ୍ରତିକୂଳରେ ଆପଣା ହସ୍ତ ଉଠାଇଅଛି; କେବଳ ତାଙ୍କୁ ସମର୍ପି ଦିଅ, ତହିଁରେ ମୁଁ ଏ ନଗରରୁ ପ୍ରସ୍ଥାନ କରିବି।” ତହୁଁ ସେ ସ୍ତ୍ରୀ ଯୋୟାବକୁ କହିଲା, “ଦେଖନ୍ତୁ, ପ୍ରାଚୀର ଦେଇ ତାହାର ମସ୍ତକ ଆପଣଙ୍କ ନିକଟକୁ ପକାଯିବ।”

That is not the case. But a man of the hill country of Ephraim, Sheba the son of Bikri, has rebelled against king David. Give up him alone and I will withdraw from the city." Then the woman said to Joab, "Look, his head will be thrown to you from the wall."

22 ଏଉତ୍ତାରେ ସେ ସ୍ତ୍ରୀ ଆପଣା ବୁଦ୍ଧିରେ ସମସ୍ତ ଲୋକଙ୍କ ନିକଟକୁ ଗଲା। ତହୁଁ ଲୋକମାନେ ବିଖ୍ରିିର ପୁତ୍ର ଶେବଃର ମସ୍ତକ କାଟି ଯୋୟାବ ନିକଟକୁ ବାହାରେ ପକାଇଦେଲେ। ତହିଁରେ ସେ ତୂରୀ ବଜାନ୍ତେ, ଲୋକମାନେ ନଗରରୁ ଛିନ୍ନଭିନ୍ନ ହୋଇ ପ୍ରତ୍ୟେକ ଲୋକ ଆପଣା ଆପଣା ତମ୍ବୁକୁ ଗଲେ। ପୁଣି ଯୋୟାବ ଯିରୂଶାଲମକୁ ରାଜାଙ୍କ ନିକଟକୁ ଫେରିଗଲା।

Then she spoke to all the city with her wise advice, and they cut off the head of Sheba son of Bikri and threw it out to Joab. So he blew the trumpet, and they were dispersed from him, each returning to his home. And Joab went back to Jerusalem to the king.

23 ସେସମୟରେ ଯୋୟାବ ଇସ୍ରାଏଲର ସମସ୍ତ ସୈନ୍ୟଦଳର ଉପରେ ଥିଲା; ପୁଣି ଯିହୋୟାଦାର ପୁତ୍ର ବନାୟ କରେଥୀୟ ଓ ପଲେଥୀୟମାନଙ୍କ ଉପରେ ଥିଲା।

Now Joab was in command of the entire army of Israel; and Benaiah the son of Jehoiada was in command of the Cherethites and in command of the Pelethites;

24 ଆଉ ଅଦୋନୀରାମ୍‍ ବେଠିକର୍ମକାରୀଙ୍କ ଅଧ୍ୟକ୍ଷ ଥିଲା ଓ ଅହୀଲୂଦର ପୁତ୍ର ଯିହୋଶାଫଟ୍‍ ଇତିହାସ ଲେଖକ,

and Adoniram was in command of the forced labor; and Jehoshaphat the son of Ahilud was recorder;

25 ଶିବା ଲେଖକ ଥିଲା; ପୁଣି ସାଦୋକ ଓ ଅବୀୟାଥର ଯାଜକ ଥିଲେ;

and Shisha was scribe; and Zadok and Abiathar were priests;

26 ପୁଣି ଯାୟୀରୀୟ ଈରା ମଧ୍ୟ ଦାଉଦଙ୍କର ଯାଜକ ଥିଲା।

and also Ira the Jairite was David's priest.
