ଦ୍ୱିତୀୟ ଶାମୁୟେଲ 13

1 ଏଥିଉତ୍ତାରେ ଏହି ଘଟଣା ହେଲା; ଦାଉଦଙ୍କର ପୁତ୍ର ଅବଶାଲୋମର ତାମର ନାମରେ ଏକ ସୁନ୍ଦରୀ ଭଉଣୀ ଥିଲା; ନିଜର ସାବତ ଭଉଣୀ ପ୍ରତି ଦାଉଦଙ୍କର ପୁତ୍ର ଅମ୍ନୋନ କାମାସକ୍ତ ହେଲା।

Now after these things, it happened that Amnon, the son of David, was in love with the very beautiful sister of Absalom, the son of David, and she was called Tamar.

2 ପୁଣି ଅମ୍ନୋନ ଆପଣା ଭଉଣୀ ତାମର ଲାଗି ଏପରି ଆକୁଳ ହେଲା ଯେ, ସେ ପୀଡ଼ିତ ହେଲା; କାରଣ ତାମର ଅନୂଢ଼ା ଥିଲା ଓ ତାହା ପ୍ରତି କିଛି କରିବାକୁ ଅମ୍ନୋନକୁ କଷ୍ଟକର ବୋଧ ହେଲା।

And he pined for her exceedingly, so much so that, out of love for her, he became ill. For, since she was a virgin, it seemed a difficulty to him that he would do anything dishonest with her.

3 ମାତ୍ର ଦାଉଦଙ୍କର ଭ୍ରାତା ଶିମୀୟର ପୁତ୍ର ଯୋନାଦବ୍‍ ନାମରେ ଅମ୍ନୋନର ଜଣେ ବନ୍ଧୁ ଥିଲା; ସେହି ଯୋନାଦବ୍‍ ଅତି ଚତୁର।

Now Amnon had a friend named Jonadab, the son of Shimeah, the brother of David: a very prudent man.

4 ଏଣୁ ଯୋନାଦବ୍‍ ଅମ୍ନୋନକୁ କହିଲା, “ହେ ରାଜପୁତ୍ର, ତୁମ୍ଭେ କାହିଁକି ଦିନକୁ ଦିନ ଏପରି କ୍ଷୀଣ ହୋଇ ଯାଉଅଛ; ମୋତେ କʼଣ ତାହା କହିବ ନାହିଁ?” ଏଥିରେ ଅମ୍ନୋନ ତାହାକୁ କହିଲା, “ମୁଁ ମୋର ଭ୍ରାତା ଅବଶାଲୋମର ଭଉଣୀ ତାମର ପ୍ରତି କାମାସକ୍ତ ଅଟେ।”

And he said to him: “Why are you becoming so thin from day to day, O son of the king? Why won’t you tell me?” And Amnon said to him, “I am in love with Tamar, the sister of my brother Absalom.”

5 ଏଥିରେ ଯୋନାଦବ୍‍ ତାହାକୁ କହିଲା, “ତୁମ୍ଭେ ଶଯ୍ୟାରେ ପଡ଼ି ରୋଗର ବାହାନା କର; ପୁଣି ତୁମ୍ଭ ପିତା ତୁମ୍ଭକୁ ଦେଖିବାକୁ ଆସିଲେ ତାଙ୍କୁ କୁହ, ‘ମୋହର ଭଗିନୀ ତାମରକୁ ମୋʼ ନିକଟକୁ ଆସି ମୋତେ ଖାଦ୍ୟ ଦେବାକୁ ଅନୁମତି ଦେଉନ୍ତୁ, ସେ ମୋʼ ଆଗରେ ଖାଦ୍ୟ ରାନ୍ଧିବ, ତହିଁରେ ମୁଁ ତାହା ଦେଖି ତାହା ହାତରୁ ଭୋଜନ କରିବି।’”

And Jonadab said to him: “Lie down upon your bed, and feign sickness. And when your father will come to visit you, say to him: ‘I ask you to let my sister Tamar come to me, so that she may give me food, and may make a small meal, so that I may eat it from her hand.’”

6 ଏଣୁ ଅମ୍ନୋନ ରୋଗର ବାହାନା କରି ପଡ଼ି ରହିଲା; ପୁଣି ରାଜା ତାହାକୁ ଦେଖିବାକୁ ଆସନ୍ତେ, ଅମ୍ନୋନ ରାଜାଙ୍କୁ କହିଲା, “ଦୟାକରି ମୋʼ ଭଗିନୀ ତାମରକୁ ଆସିବାକୁ ଦେଉନ୍ତୁ, ପୁଣି ମୁଁ ଦେଖିବା ସମୟରେ ସେ ମୋʼ ନିମନ୍ତେ ଦୁଇ ରୁଟି ପ୍ରସ୍ତୁତ କରୁ, ତହିଁରେ ମୁଁ ତାହା ହାତରୁ ଖାଇବି।”

And so, Amnon lay down, and he began to act as if he were ill. And when the king had come to visit him, Amnon said to the king, “I beg you to let my sister Tamar come to me, and make in my sight two little portions of food, so that I take it from her hand.”

7 ତେବେ ଦାଉଦ ତାମରର ଗୃହକୁ ଲୋକ ପଠାଇ କହିଲେ, “ତୁମ୍ଭ ଭାଇ ଅମ୍ନୋନର ଘରକୁ ଟିକିଏ ଯାଇ ତାହାର ଖାଇବା ପାଇଁ କିଛି ରାନ୍ଧିଦିଅ।”

Therefore, David sent home to Tamar, saying, “Come to the house of your brother Amnon, and make a small meal for him.”

8 ତହିଁରେ ତାମର ଆପଣା ଭାଇ ଅମ୍ନୋନର ଗୃହକୁ ଗଲା; ସେତେବେଳେ ସେ ଶଯ୍ୟାରେ ଥିଲା। ତହୁଁ ତାମର ଚକଟା ମଇଦା ନେଇ ଦଳି ତାହା ଆଗରେ ରୁଟି ପ୍ରସ୍ତୁତ କରି ତାହା ସେକିଲା।

And Tamar went into the house of her brother Amnon. But he was lying down. And taking flour, she mixed it. And dissolving it in his sight, she cooked little portions of food.

9 ପୁଣି ସେ ପାତ୍ର ନେଇ ତାହା ଆଗରେ ତାହା ଦେଲା, ମାତ୍ର ସେ ଭୋଜନ କରିବାକୁ ମନା କଲା। ଆଉ ଅମ୍ନୋନ ସେବକଙ୍କୁ କହିଲା, “ଆମ୍ଭ ନିକଟରୁ ସମସ୍ତଙ୍କୁ ବାହାର କରିଦିଅ।” ତହିଁରେ ସମସ୍ତେ ତାହା ନିକଟରୁ ବାହାରିଗଲେ।

And taking what she had cooked, she poured it out, and she set it before him. But he refused to eat. And Amnon said, “Send everyone away from me.” And when they had sent everyone away,

10 ତହୁଁ ଅମ୍ନୋନ ତାମରକୁ କହିଲା, “ଖାଦ୍ୟଦ୍ରବ୍ୟ ଶୟନ-ଗୃହକୁ ଆଣ, ମୁଁ ତୁମ୍ଭ ହାତରେ ଭୋଜନ କରିବି।” ଏଥିରେ ତାମର ଆପଣା ପ୍ରସ୍ତୁତ ରୁଟି ନେଇ ତାହା ଭାଇ ଅମ୍ନୋନର ଶୟନ-ଗୃହକୁ ଗଲା।

Amnon said to Tamar, “Bring the food into the bedroom, so that I may eat from your hand.” Therefore, Tamar took the little portions of food that she had made, and she brought them to her brother Amnon in the bedroom.

11 ପୁଣି ତାହାକୁ ଖୁଆଇବା ପାଇଁ ତାହା ନିକଟକୁ ନିଅନ୍ତେ, ସେ ତାମରକୁ ଧରି କହିଲା, “ଆସ, ମୋʼ ଭଉଣୀ, ମୋʼ ସଙ୍ଗରେ ଶୁଅ।”

And when she had presented the food to him, he took hold of her, and he said, “Come lie with me, my sister.”

12 ତହିଁରେ ସେ ଉତ୍ତର କଲା, “ନା ନା, ମୋର ଭାଇ, ମୋତେ ଭ୍ରଷ୍ଟ ନ କର; କାରଣ ଇସ୍ରାଏଲ ମଧ୍ୟରେ ଏହିପରି କର୍ମ ନ କରାଯିବା ଉଚିତ। ତୁମ୍ଭେ ଏହି ମୂଢ଼ କର୍ମ ନ କର!

She answered him: “Do not do so, my brother! Do not force me. For no such thing must be done in Israel. Do not choose to do this senseless act.

13 ମୁଁ ମଧ୍ୟ ଆପଣା କଳଙ୍କ କେଉଁଠାକୁ ନେଇଯିବି? ପୁଣି ତୁମ୍ଭେ ମଧ୍ୟ ଇସ୍ରାଏଲର ମୂଢ଼ମାନଙ୍କ ମଧ୍ୟରେ ଜଣକ ପରି ହେବ। ଏଣୁ ମୁଁ ବିନୟ କରୁଅଛି, ରାଜାଙ୍କ ସଙ୍ଗେ କଥାବାର୍ତ୍ତା କର, ସେ ତୁମ୍ଭ ପ୍ରତି ମୋତେ ଦେବା ପାଇଁ ଅସମ୍ମତ ହେବେ ନାହିଁ।”

For I will not be able to bear my shame. And you will be like one of the foolish in Israel. For it is better to speak to the king, and he will not deny me to you.”

14 ତଥାପି ଅମ୍ନୋନ ତାହାର ରବ ଶୁଣିଲା ନାହିଁ; ମାତ୍ର ଆପେ ତାହା ଅପେକ୍ଷା ବଳବାନ ହେବାରୁ ତାହାକୁ ବଳାତ୍କାର କରି ତାହା ସଙ୍ଗେ ଶୟନ କଲା।

But he was not willing to agree to her petition. Instead, prevailing by strength, he forced her, and he lay with her.

15 ଏଉତ୍ତାରେ ଅମ୍ନୋନ ତାହାକୁ ଅତିଶୟ ଘୃଣା କଲା; ସେ ତାହାକୁ ଯେପରି ପ୍ରେମ କରିଥିଲା, ତାʼଠାରୁ ଅଧିକ ଘୃଣା କଲା। ଏଣୁ ଅମ୍ନୋନ ତାହାକୁ କହିଲା, ଉଠ, ଯା।

And Amnon held hatred for her with an exceedingly great hatred, so much so that the hatred with which he hated her was greater than the love with which he had loved her before. And Amnon said to her, “Rise up, and go away.”

16 ତହିଁରେ ସେ କହିଲା, “ସେପରି ନ ହେଉ! କାରଣ ତୁମ୍ଭେ ମୋʼ ପ୍ରତି ଯାହା କରିଅଛ, ତା ଅପେକ୍ଷା ମୋତେ ଏପରି ବାହାର କରିଦେବା ଅଧିକ ଅନ୍ୟାୟ!” ମାତ୍ର ସେ ତାହା କଥା ଶୁଣିବାକୁ ଅସମ୍ମତ ହେଲା।

And she answered him, “This evil is greater, which you are now doing against me in driving me away, than what you did before.” But he was not willing to listen to her.

17 ଏଥିରେ ଅମ୍ନୋନ ଆପଣା ସେବାକାରୀ ଯୁବାକୁ ଡାକି କହିଲା, “ତାମରକୁ ଆମ୍ଭ ନିକଟରୁ ବାହାର କରି କବାଟରେ ଅର୍ଗଳ ଦିଅ।”

Instead, calling the servants who were ministering to him, he said, “Cast this woman out from me, and close the door behind her.”

18 ତାମର ଦେହରେ ଲମ୍ବା ଅଙ୍ଗରଖା ଥିଲା, କାରଣ ଅନୂଢ଼ା ରାଜକନ୍ୟାମାନେ ସେହି ପ୍ରକାର ବସ୍ତ୍ର ପିନ୍ଧୁଥିଲେ। ଏଥିରେ ଅମ୍ନୋନର ଦାସ ତାହାକୁ ବାହାରେ ଆଣି ତାହା ପଛେ କବାଟରେ ଅର୍ଗଳ ଦେଲା।

Now she was clothed with an ankle-length robe. For the virgin daughters of the king made use of this kind of garment. And so, his servant cast her out, and he closed the door behind her.

19 ତହୁଁ ତାମର ଆପଣା ମସ୍ତକରେ ଭସ୍ମ ଦେଇ ତାହା ଦେହର ଲମ୍ବା ଅଙ୍ଗରଖା ଚିରିଲା, ପୁଣି ସେ ଆପଣା ମସ୍ତକରେ ହସ୍ତ ଦେଇ କ୍ରନ୍ଦନ କରୁ କରୁ ଚାଲିଗଲା।

And she sprinkled ashes upon her head, and she tore her ankle-length robe. And placing her hands upon her head, she went forth, walking and crying out.

20 ଏଥିରେ ତାହାର ଭାଇ ଅବଶାଲୋମ ତାହାକୁ କହିଲା, “ତୁମ୍ଭ ଭାଇ ଅମ୍ନୋନ କି ତୁମ୍ଭର ବଳାତ୍କାର କରିଅଛି? ହେଉ, ଆମ୍ଭ ଭଉଣୀ, ଏବେ ତୁନି ହୁଅ, ସେ ତୁମ୍ଭର ଭାଇ; ଏ କଥା ମନେ ଧର ନାହିଁ।” ତହିଁରେ ତାମର ଉଦାସିନୀ ହୋଇ ଆପଣା ସହୋଦର ଅବଶାଲୋମର ଗୃହରେ ରହିଲା।

Then her brother Absalom said to her: “Has your brother Amnon lain with you? But now, sister, be quiet. For he is your brother. And you should not afflict your heart because of this matter.” And so, Tamar remained, wasting away in the house of her brother Absalom.

21 ମାତ୍ର ଦାଉଦ ରାଜା ଏହିସବୁ କଥା ଶୁଣି ଅତ୍ୟନ୍ତ କ୍ରୁଦ୍ଧ ହେଲେ।

And when king David had heard about these things, he was deeply grieved. But he was not willing to afflict the spirit of his son Amnon. For he loved him, since he was his firstborn.

22 ପୁଣି ଅବଶାଲୋମ ଅମ୍ନୋନକୁ ଭଲ କି ମନ୍ଦ କିଛି କହିଲା ନାହିଁ; କାରଣ ତାହାର ଭଉଣୀ ତାମରକୁ ବଳାତ୍କାର କରିବାରୁ ଅବଶାଲୋମ ଅମ୍ନୋନକୁ ଘୃଣା କଲା।

Yet Absalom did not speak to Amnon, neither good nor evil. For Absalom hated Amnon because he had violated his sister Tamar.

23 ଏଥିଉତ୍ତାରେ ସମ୍ପୂର୍ଣ୍ଣ ଦୁଇ ବର୍ଷ ଉତ୍ତାରେ ଇଫ୍ରୟିମ ନିକଟସ୍ଥ ବାଲ-ହାସୋରରେ ଅବଶାଲୋମର ମେଷର ଲୋମ ଛେଦନ ହେଲା; ତହୁଁ ଅବଶାଲୋମ ସମସ୍ତ ରାଜପୁତ୍ରଙ୍କୁ ନିମନ୍ତ୍ରଣ କଲା।

Then, after the time of two years, it happened that the sheep of Absalom were being shorn in Baal-hazor, which is near Ephraim. And Absalom invited all the sons of the king.

24 ପୁଣି ଅବଶାଲୋମ ରାଜାଙ୍କ ନିକଟକୁ ଆସି କହିଲା, “ଦେଖନ୍ତୁ, ଆପଣଙ୍କ ଦାସର ମେଷଲୋମ ଛେଦନ ହେଉଅଛି, ଏଣୁ ମହାରାଜ ଓ ରାଜାଙ୍କ ଦାସମାନେ ଆପଣଙ୍କ ଏହି ଦାସର ସଙ୍ଗରେ ଆସନ୍ତୁ।”

And he went to the king, and he said to him: “Behold, the sheep of your servant are being shorn. I ask that the king, with his servants, may come to his servant.”

25 ଏଥିରେ ରାଜା ଅବଶାଲୋମଙ୍କୁ କହିଲେ, “ନାହିଁ, ମୋହର ପୁତ୍ର, ଆମ୍ଭେ ସମସ୍ତେ ନ ଯାଉ, ଗଲେ ତୁମ୍ଭ ପ୍ରତି ଭାର ସ୍ୱରୂପ ହେବୁ।” ମାତ୍ର ସେ ବହୁତ ବାଧ୍ୟ କଲା; ତଥାପି ରାଜା ଯିବାକୁ ସମ୍ମତ ନ ହୋଇ ତାହାକୁ ଆଶୀର୍ବାଦ କଲେ।

And the king said to Absalom: “Do not, my son, do not choose to ask that we may all come and be a burden to you.” Then, after he urged him, and he had refused to go, he blessed him.

26 ଏଥିରେ ଅବଶାଲୋମ କହିଲା, “ଯେବେ ଏହା ନ ହୁଏ, ତେବେ ଆପଣ ଆମ୍ଭ ଭାଇ ଅମ୍ନୋନକୁ ଆମ୍ଭମାନଙ୍କ ସଙ୍ଗରେ ଯିବାକୁ ଦିଅନ୍ତୁ।” ତେବେ ରାଜା ତାହାକୁ କହିଲେ, “ଅମ୍ନୋନ କାହିଁକି ତୁମ୍ଭ ସଙ୍ଗେ ଯିବ?”

And Absalom said, “If you are not willing to come, I beg you, at least let my brother Amnon come with us.” And the king said to him, “It is not necessary that he go with you.”

27 ମାତ୍ର ଅବଶାଲୋମ ବାଧ୍ୟ କରିବାରୁ ରାଜା ଅମ୍ନୋନକୁ ଓ ସବୁ ରାଜପୁତ୍ରଙ୍କୁ ତାହା ସଙ୍ଗେ ପଠାଇଲେ।

But Absalom pressed him, and so he sent with him Amnon and all the sons of the king. And Absalom made a feast, like the feast of a king.

28 ଏଉତ୍ତାରେ ଅବଶାଲୋମ ଆପଣା ଯୁବାମାନଙ୍କୁ ଆଜ୍ଞା ଦେଇ କହିଲା, “ତୁମ୍ଭେମାନେ ଦେଖୁଥାଅ, ଦ୍ରାକ୍ଷାରସରେ ଅମ୍ନୋନର ଚିତ୍ତ ପ୍ରଫୁଲ୍ଲ ହେଲେ, ଯେତେବେଳେ ମୁଁ ତୁମ୍ଭମାନଙ୍କୁ କହିବି, ‘ଅମ୍ନୋନକୁ ମାର,’ ସେତେବେଳେ ତୁମ୍ଭେମାନେ ତାହାକୁ ବଧ କରିବ, ଭୟ କରିବ ନାହିଁ; ମୁଁ କʼଣ ତୁମ୍ଭମାନଙ୍କୁ ଆଜ୍ଞା ଦେଇ ନାହିଁ? ବଳ ବାନ୍ଧ ଓ ବିକ୍ରମଶାଳୀ ହୁଅ।”

Then Absalom commanded his servants, saying: “Observe when Amnon will have become drunk with wine. And when I say to you, ‘Strike and kill him!’ do not be afraid. For it is I who commands you. Be strong and valiant men.”

29 ଏଥିରେ ଅବଶାଲୋମର ଆଜ୍ଞା ପ୍ରମାଣେ ଅବଶାଲୋମର ଯୁବାମାନେ ଅମ୍ନୋନ ପ୍ରତି କଲେ। ତହୁଁ ରାଜପୁତ୍ର ସମସ୍ତେ ଉଠି ପ୍ରତ୍ୟେକେ ଆପଣା ଆପଣା ଖଚର ଉପରେ ଚଢ଼ି ପଳାଇଲେ।

Therefore, the servants of Absalom acted against Amnon, just as Absalom had commanded them. And all the sons of the king rose up, and each one climbed upon his mule and fled.

30 ସେମାନେ ବାଟରେ ଥାଉ ଥାଉ ଦାଉଦଙ୍କ ନିକଟରେ ସମ୍ବାଦ ଉପସ୍ଥିତ ହେଲା ଯେ, “ଅବଶାଲୋମ ସମସ୍ତ ରାଜପୁତ୍ରଙ୍କୁ ବଧ କରିଅଛି, ସେମାନଙ୍କ ମଧ୍ୟରୁ ଜଣେ ଅବଶିଷ୍ଟ ନାହିଁ।”

And while they were still traveling on the journey, a rumor reached David, saying, “Absalom has struck down all the sons of the king, and there is not one of them remaining.”

31 ତହିଁରେ ରାଜା ଉଠି ଆପଣା ବସ୍ତ୍ର ଚିରି ଭୂମିରେ ଲମ୍ବ ହୋଇ ପଡ଼ିଲେ ଓ ତାଙ୍କର ଦାସ ସମସ୍ତେ ଆପଣା ଆପଣା ବସ୍ତ୍ର ଚିରି ତାଙ୍କ ନିକଟରେ ଠିଆ ହେଲେ।

And so the king rose up, and he tore his garments, and he fell upon the ground. And all his servants, who were standing near him, tore their garments.

32 ସେତେବେଳେ ଦାଉଦଙ୍କର ଭ୍ରାତା ଶିମୀୟର ପୁତ୍ର ଯୋନାଦବ୍‍ ଉତ୍ତର ଦେଇ କହିଲା, “ସେମାନେ ରାଜକୁମାର ସମସ୍ତଙ୍କୁ ବଧ କରିଅଛନ୍ତି ବୋଲି ମୋହର ପ୍ରଭୁ ବୋଧ ନ କରନ୍ତୁ; କେବଳ ଅମ୍ନୋନ ମରିଅଛି, କାରଣ ଅବଶାଲୋମର ଭଗିନୀ ତାମରକୁ ଅମ୍ନୋନ ବଳାତ୍କାର କରିବା ଦିନାବଧି ଅବଶାଲୋମର ମୁଖରେ ଏହା ସ୍ଥିରୀକୃତ ହୋଇଥିଲା।

But Jonadab, the son of Shimeah, David’s brother, responding, said: “My lord the king should not consider that all the sons of the king have been slain. Amnon alone is dead. For he was set against by the mouth of Absalom from the day that he raped his sister Tamar.

33 ଏହେତୁ ସମସ୍ତ ରାଜପୁତ୍ର ମରିଅଛନ୍ତି ବୋଲି ମୋହର ପ୍ରଭୁ ମହାରାଜ ମନରେ ନ ଘେନନ୍ତୁ; କାରଣ କେବଳ ଅମ୍ନୋନ ମରିଅଛି।”

Now therefore, let not my lord the king set this word in his heart, saying, ‘All the sons of the king have been slain.’ For only Amnon is dead.”

34 ଏଥିମଧ୍ୟରେ ଅବଶାଲୋମ ପଳାଇ ଯାଇଥିଲା। ଏଉତ୍ତାରେ ଯେଉଁ ଯୁବା ଲୋକ ପ୍ରହରୀକର୍ମ କରୁଥିଲା, ସେ ଅନାନ୍ତେ, ଦେଖିଲା ଯେ, ଦେଖ, ଆପଣା ପଶ୍ଚାଦ୍ଦିଗରୁ ପର୍ବତ-ପାର୍ଶ୍ୱସ୍ଥ ପଥ ଦେଇ ଅନେକ ଲୋକ ଆସୁଅଛନ୍ତି।

Now Absalom fled. And the young man keeping watch, lifted up his eyes and gazed out. And behold, many people were arriving along a remote road at the side of the mountain.

35 ତହିଁରେ ଯୋନାଦବ୍‍ ରାଜାଙ୍କୁ କହିଲା, “ଦେଖନ୍ତୁ, ରାଜପୁତ୍ରମାନେ ଆସୁଅଛନ୍ତି; ଆପଣଙ୍କ ଦାସ ଯେପରି କହିଲା, ସେପରି ହେଲା।”

And Jonadab said to the king: “Behold, the sons of the king are here. In accord with the word of your servant, so it has happened.”

36 ସେ ଏହି କଥା କହିବା ସମାପ୍ତ କଲାକ୍ଷଣେ ଦେଖ, ରାଜପୁତ୍ରମାନେ ଉପସ୍ଥିତ ହେଲେ ଓ ଆପଣା ଆପଣା ରବ ଉଠାଇ ରୋଦନ କଲେ; ଆଉ ରାଜା ଓ ତାଙ୍କ ଦାସମାନେ ମଧ୍ୟ ଅତିଶୟ ରୋଦନ କଲେ।

And when he had ceased speaking, the sons of the king also appeared. And entering, they lifted up their voice, and they wept. And the king also, and all his servants, wept with an exceedingly great weeping.

37 ମାତ୍ର ଅବଶାଲୋମ ପଳାଇ ଗଶୂରର ରାଜା ଅମ୍ମୀହୂଦର ପୁତ୍ର ତଲ୍ମୟ ନିକଟକୁ ଗଲା। ପୁଣି ଦାଉଦ ପ୍ରତିଦିନ ଆପଣା ପୁତ୍ର ପାଇଁ ଶୋକ କଲେ।

But Absalom, fleeing, went to Talmai, the son of Ammihud, the king of Geshur. Then David mourned for his son every day.

38 ଏହିରୂପେ ଅବଶାଲୋମ ପଳାଇ ଗଶୂରକୁ ଯାଇ ସେଠାରେ ତିନି ବର୍ଷ ରହିଲା।

Now after he had fled and had arrived in Geshur, Absalom was in that place for three years.

39 ପୁଣି ଦାଉଦ ରାଜାଙ୍କର ପ୍ରାଣ ଅବଶାଲୋମ ଆଡ଼େ ଯିବା ଆକାଂକ୍ଷାରେ ବ୍ୟାକୁଳ ହେଲା; କାରଣ ସେ ଅମ୍ନୋନକୁ ମୃତ ଜାଣି ତାହା ବିଷୟରେ ସାନ୍ତ୍ୱନାପ୍ରାପ୍ତ ହେଲେ।

And king David ceased to pursue Absalom, because he had been consoled over the passing of Amnon.
