ଦ୍ୱିତୀୟ ଶାମୁୟେଲ 10
1 ଏଥିଉତ୍ତାରେ ଅମ୍ମୋନ-ସନ୍ତାନଗଣର ରାଜା ମରନ୍ତେ, ତାହାର ପୁତ୍ର ହାନୂନ୍ ତାହାର ବଦଳରେ ରାଜା ହେଲା।
And it came to pass after this, that the king of the children of Ammon died, and Hanon his son reigned in his stead.
2 ତହିଁରେ ଦାଉଦ କହିଲେ, “ହାନୂନ୍ର ପିତା ନାହଶ୍ ଯେପରି ମୋʼ ପ୍ରତି ଦୟା ପ୍ରକାଶ କରିଥିଲା, ସେପରି ମୁଁ ହାନୂନ୍ ପ୍ରତି ଦୟା ପ୍ରକାଶ କରିବି।” ତେଣୁ ତାହାକୁ ପିତୃଶୋକରୁ ସାନ୍ତ୍ୱନା କରିବା ନିମନ୍ତେ ଦାଉଦ ଆପଣା ଦାସମାନଙ୍କୁ ପଠାଇଲେ। ତହୁଁ ଦାଉଦଙ୍କର ଦାସମାନେ ଅମ୍ମୋନ-ସନ୍ତାନଗଣର ଦେଶରେ ଉପସ୍ଥିତ ହେଲେ।
And David said: I Will shew kindness to Hanon the son of Daas, as his father shewed kindness to me. So David sent his servants to comfort him for the death of his father. But when the servants of David were come into the land of the children of Ammon,
3 ମାତ୍ର ଅମ୍ମୋନ-ସନ୍ତାନଗଣର ଅଧିପତିମାନେ ସେମାନଙ୍କ ପ୍ରଭୁ ହାନୂନ୍କୁ କହିଲେ, “ଦାଉଦ ଆପଣଙ୍କ ନିକଟକୁ ସାନ୍ତ୍ୱନାକାରୀମାନଙ୍କୁ ପଠାଇଅଛି ବୋଲି ସେ ଯେ ଆପଣଙ୍କ ପିତାଙ୍କର ସମ୍ଭ୍ରମ କରୁଅଛି, ଏହା କି ଆପଣ ବିଚାର କରନ୍ତି? ଦାଉଦ କି ନଗର ଅନୁସନ୍ଧାନ କରିବା ଅଭିପ୍ରାୟରେ ତହିଁରେ ଭ୍ରମଣ କରିବାକୁ ଓ ତାହା ନାଶ କରିବାକୁ ଆପଣା ଦାସମାନଙ୍କୁ ତୁମ୍ଭ କତିକି ପଠାଇ ନାହିଁ?”
The princes of the children of Ammon said to Hanon their lord: Thinkest thou that for the honour of thy father, David hath sent comforters to thee, and hath not David rather sent his servants to thee to search, and spy into the city, and overthrow it?
4 ତହିଁରେ ହାନୂନ୍ ଦାଉଦଙ୍କର ଦାସମାନଙ୍କୁ ଧରି ସେମାନଙ୍କ ଦାଢ଼ିର ଅଧେ କ୍ଷୌର କଲା ଓ ସେମାନଙ୍କ ପିଚା ପାଖ ବସ୍ତ୍ର ମଝିରୁ କାଟି ପକାଇ ସେମାନଙ୍କୁ ବିଦାୟ କରିଦେଲା।
Wherefore Hanon took the servants of David, and shaved off the one half of their beards, and cut away half of their garments even to the buttocks, and sent them away.
5 ତହୁଁ ସେମାନେ ଦାଉଦଙ୍କୁ ଏହା ଜ୍ଞାତ କରାନ୍ତେ, ସେ ସେମାନଙ୍କୁ ଭେଟିବା ପାଇଁ ଲୋକ ପଠାଇଲେ; କାରଣ ସେମାନେ ଅତିଶୟ ଲଜ୍ଜିତ ଥିଲେ। ପୁଣି ରାଜା କହିଲେ, “ତୁମ୍ଭମାନଙ୍କ ଦାଢ଼ି ବଢ଼ିବା ପର୍ଯ୍ୟନ୍ତ ଯିରୀହୋ ନଗରରେ ଥାଅ, ତହିଁ ଉତ୍ତାରେ ଫେରି ଆସିବ।”
When this was told David, he sent to meet them: for the men were sadly put to confusion, and David commanded them, saying: Stay at Jericho, till your beards be grown, and then return.
6 ଏଥିରେ ଅମ୍ମୋନ-ସନ୍ତାନମାନେ ଦେଖିଲେ ଯେ, ସେମାନେ ଦାଉଦଙ୍କ ସମ୍ମୁଖରେ ଦୁର୍ଗନ୍ଧ ସ୍ୱରୂପ ହୋଇଅଛନ୍ତି, ଏହେତୁ ଅମ୍ମୋନ-ସନ୍ତାନଗଣ ଲୋକ ପଠାଇ ବେଥ୍-ରହୋବସ୍ଥ ଓ ସୋବାସ୍ଥିତ ଅରାମୀୟ କୋଡ଼ିଏ ହଜାର ପଦାତିକକୁ ଓ ଏକ ହଜାର ଲୋକ ସହିତ ମାଖାର ରାଜାକୁ ଓ ଟୋବର ବାର ହଜାର ଲୋକଙ୍କୁ ବେତନ ଦେଇ ରଖିଲେ।
And the children of Ammon seeing that they had done an injury to David, Bent and hired the Syrians of Rohob, and the Syrians of Soba, twenty thousand footmen, and of the king of Maacha a thousand men, and of Istob twelve thousand men.
7 ଆଉ ଦାଉଦ ଏହା ଶୁଣି ଯୋୟାବକୁ ଓ ବୀର ସୈନ୍ୟ ସମସ୍ତଙ୍କୁ ପଠାଇଲେ।
And when David heard this, he sent Joab and the whole army of warriors.
8 ତହିଁରେ ଅମ୍ମୋନ-ସନ୍ତାନଗଣ ବାହାର ହୋଇ ଆସି ଦ୍ୱାର-ପ୍ରବେଶ ସ୍ଥାନ ନିକଟରେ ଯୁଦ୍ଧ କରିବାକୁ ପ୍ରସ୍ତୁତ କଲେ; ପୁଣି ସୋବା ଓ ରହୋବର ଅରାମୀୟ ଲୋକମାନେ, ଆଉ ଟୋବର ଓ ମାଖାର ଲୋକମାନେ କ୍ଷେତ୍ରରେ ଅଲଗା ରହିଲେ।
And the children of Ammon came out, and set their men in array at the entering in of the gate: but the Syrians of Soba, and of Rohob, and of Istob, and of Maacha were by themselves in the field.
9 ଏହିରୂପେ ଯୋୟାବ ଆପଣା ବିରୁଦ୍ଧରେ ଆଗେ ଓ ପଛେ ଯୁଦ୍ଧ ପ୍ରସ୍ତୁତ ହେବାର ଦେଖି ଇସ୍ରାଏଲର ସମୁଦାୟ ବଛା ଲୋକ ମଧ୍ୟରୁ ଲୋକ ବାଛି ଅରାମୀୟମାନଙ୍କ ବିରୁଦ୍ଧରେ ସୈନ୍ୟ ସଜାଇଲା।
Then Joab seeing that the battle was prepared against him, both before and behind, chose of all the choice men of Israel, and put them in array against the Syrians:
10 ପୁଣି ସେ ଅବଶିଷ୍ଟ ଲୋକମାନଙ୍କୁ ଆପଣା ଭାଇ ଅବୀଶୟ ହସ୍ତରେ ସମର୍ପଣ କଲା; ତହିଁରେ ସେ ସେମାନଙ୍କୁ ନେଇ ଅମ୍ମୋନ-ସନ୍ତାନଗଣ ବିରୁଦ୍ଧରେ ସୈନ୍ୟ ସଜାଇଲା।
And the rest of the people he delivered to Abisai his brother, who set them in array against the children of Ammon.
11 ପୁଣି ସେ କହିଲା, “ଯଦି ଅରାମୀୟମାନେ ମୋ ନିମନ୍ତେ ଅଧିକ ଶକ୍ତିଶାଳୀ ହେବେ, ତେବେ ତୁମ୍ଭେ ମୋତେ ସାହାଯ୍ୟ କରିବ; ମାତ୍ର ଯଦି ଅମ୍ମୋନ-ସନ୍ତାନମାନେ ତୁମ୍ଭ ନିମନ୍ତେ ଅଧିକ ଶକ୍ତିଶାଳୀ ହେବେ, ତେବେ ମୁଁ ଆସି ତୁମ୍ଭକୁ ସାହାଯ୍ୟ କରିବି।
And Joab said: If the Syrians are too strong for me, then thou shalt help me: but if the children of Ammon are too strong for thee, then I will help thee.
12 ବଳବାନ ହୁଅ, ଆମ୍ଭେମାନେ ଆପଣା ଲୋକମାନଙ୍କ ନିମନ୍ତେ ଓ ଆମ୍ଭମାନଙ୍କ ପରମେଶ୍ୱରଙ୍କ ନଗରମାନଙ୍କ ନିମନ୍ତେ ଆପଣାମାନଙ୍କୁ ବଳବାନ କରୁ; ପୁଣି ସଦାପ୍ରଭୁଙ୍କ ଦୃଷ୍ଟିରେ ଯାହା ଭଲ, ସେ ତାହା କରନ୍ତୁ।”
Be of good courage, and let us fight for our people, and for the city of our God: and the Lord will do what is good in his sight.
13 ତହିଁରେ ଯୋୟାବ ଓ ତାହାର ସଙ୍ଗୀ ଲୋକମାନେ ଅରାମୀୟମାନଙ୍କ ବିରୁଦ୍ଧରେ ଯୁଦ୍ଧ କରିବା ପାଇଁ ନିକଟକୁ ଆସନ୍ତେ, ସେମାନେ ତାଙ୍କ ସମ୍ମୁଖରୁ ପଳାଇଲେ।
And Joab and the people that were with him, began to fight against the Syrians: and they immediately fled before him.
14 ଏଥିରେ ଅରାମୀୟମାନଙ୍କୁ ପଳାଇବାର ଦେଖି ଅମ୍ମୋନ-ସନ୍ତାନଗଣ ମଧ୍ୟ ଅବୀଶୟ ସମ୍ମୁଖରୁ ପଳାଇ ନଗରରେ ପ୍ରବେଶ କଲେ। ତେବେ ଯୋୟାବ ଅମ୍ମୋନ-ସନ୍ତାନମାନଙ୍କ ନିକଟରୁ ଯିରୂଶାଲମକୁ ଫେରି ଆସିଲା।
And the children of Ammon seeing that the Syrians were fled, they fled also before Abisai, and entered into the city: and Joab returned from the children of Ammon, and came to Jerusalem.
15 ଏଉତ୍ତାରେ ଅରାମୀୟମାନେ ଇସ୍ରାଏଲ ସମ୍ମୁଖରେ ଆପଣାମାନଙ୍କୁ ପରାସ୍ତ ଦେଖି ଏକତ୍ର ହେଲେ।
Then the Syrians seeing that they had fallen before Israel, gathered themselves together.
16 ପୁଣି ହଦଦେଷର ଲୋକ ପଠାଇ ଫରାତ୍ ନଦୀର ସେପାରିସ୍ଥିତ ଅରାମୀୟମାନଙ୍କୁ ଅଣାଇଲା; ତହୁଁ ସେମାନେ ହେଲମକୁ ଆସିଲେ; ହଦଦେଷରର ସେନାପତି ଶୋବକ ସେମାନଙ୍କର ଅଗ୍ରଗାମୀ ଥିଲା।
And Adarezer sent and fetched the Syrians, that were beyond the river, and brought over their army: and Sobach, the captain of the host of Adarezer, was their general.
17 ଏଉତ୍ତାରେ ଦାଉଦଙ୍କୁ ଏହା ଜ୍ଞାତ କରାଯାʼନ୍ତେ, ସେ ସମୁଦାୟ ଇସ୍ରାଏଲକୁ ଏକତ୍ର କରି ଯର୍ଦ୍ଦନ ପାର ହୋଇ ହେଲମକୁ ଆସିଲେ। ତହିଁରେ ଅରାମୀୟମାନେ ଦାଉଦଙ୍କ ସମ୍ମୁଖରେ ସୈନ୍ୟ ସଜାଇ ତାଙ୍କ ସଙ୍ଗେ ଯୁଦ୍ଧ କଲେ।
And when this was told David, he gathered all Israel together, and passed over the Jordan, and came to Helam: and the Syrians set themselves in array against David, and fought against him.
18 ମାତ୍ର ଅରାମୀୟମାନେ ଇସ୍ରାଏଲ ସମ୍ମୁଖରୁ ପଳାଇଲେ; ପୁଣି ଦାଉଦ ଅରାମୀୟମାନଙ୍କ ସାତ ଶହ ରଥାରୂଢ଼ ଓ ଚାଳିଶ ହଜାର ଅଶ୍ୱାରୂଢ଼ ସୈନ୍ୟ ବଧ କଲେ, ପୁଣି ସେ ସେମାନଙ୍କ ସେନାପତି ଶୋବକକୁ ଆଘାତ କରନ୍ତେ, ସେ ସେହିଠାରେ ମଲା।
And the Syrians fled before Israel, and David slew of the Syrians the men of seven hundred chariots, and forty thousand horsemen: and smote Sobach the captain of the army, who presently died.
19 ତହୁଁ ହଦଦେଷରର ଅଧୀନ ସମସ୍ତ ରାଜା ଇସ୍ରାଏଲ ସମ୍ମୁଖରେ ଆପଣାମାନଙ୍କୁ ପରାସ୍ତ ଦେଖି ଇସ୍ରାଏଲ ସହିତ ଶାନ୍ତିର ଚୁକ୍ତି କରି ସେମାନଙ୍କର ଦାସ ହେଲେ। ଏହେତୁ ଅରାମୀୟମାନେ ଅମ୍ମୋନ-ସନ୍ତାନଗଣକୁ ଆଉ ସାହାଯ୍ୟ କରିବାକୁ ଭୟ କଲେ।
And all the kings that were auxiliaries of Adarezer, seeing themselves overcome by Israel, were afraid and fled away, eight and fifty thousand men before Israel. And they made peace with Israel: and served them, and all the Syrians were afraid to help the children of Ammon any more.
