ପ୍ରଥମ ଶାମୁୟେଲ 20
1 ଏଥିଉତ୍ତାରେ ଦାଉଦ ରାମାସ୍ଥିତ ନାୟୋତରୁ ପଳାଇ ଆସି ଯୋନାଥନ ଆଗରେ କହିଲେ, “ମୁଁ କଅଣ କଲି? ମୋହର ଅପରାଧ କଅଣ? ଓ ତୁମ୍ଭ ପିତାଙ୍କ ଛାମୁରେ ମୋହର ପାପ କଅଣ ଯେ, ସେ ମୋର ପ୍ରାଣ ଚାହୁଁଅଛନ୍ତି?”
And David fled from Naioth in Ramah, and came and said before Jonathan, What have I done? what is mine iniquity? and what is my sin before thy father, that he seeketh my life?
2 ତହୁଁ ସେ ତାଙ୍କୁ କହିଲା; “ଏହା ନ ହେଉ; ତୁମ୍ଭେ ମରିବ ନାହିଁ; ଦେଖ, ମୋହର ପିତା ମୋର କର୍ଣ୍ଣଗୋଚର ନ କରି ବଡ଼ କି ସାନ କୌଣସି କର୍ମ କରନ୍ତି ନାହିଁ; ତେବେ ମୋହର ପିତା ମୋʼ ଠାରୁ ଏହି କଥା କାହିଁକି ଗୋପନ କରିବେ? ସେପରି ନୁହେଁ।”
And he said unto him, God forbid; thou shalt not die: behold, my father doeth nothing either great or small, but that he discloseth it unto me: and why should my father hide this thing from me? it is not so.
3 ତହିଁରେ ଦାଉଦ ଶପଥ କରି ପୁନର୍ବାର କହିଲେ, “ମୁଁ ଯେ ତୁମ୍ଭ ଦୃଷ୍ଟିରେ ଅନୁଗ୍ରହ ପାଇଅଛି, ଏହା ତୁମ୍ଭ ପିତା ଉତ୍ତମ ରୂପେ ଜାଣନ୍ତି; ଏଣୁ ସେ କହନ୍ତି, ଯୋନାଥନ ଏହା ନ ଜାଣୁ, ଜାଣିଲେ ସେ ଦୁଃଖିତ ହେବ; ମାତ୍ର ଯାହାହେଉ, ସଦାପ୍ରଭୁ ଜୀବିତ ଥିବା ପ୍ରମାଣେ ଓ ତୁମ୍ଭ ପ୍ରାଣ ଜୀବିତ ଥିବା ପ୍ରମାଣେ ମୁଁ କହୁଅଛି ଯେ, ମୋର ଓ ମରଣ ମଧ୍ୟରେ ପାହୁଣ୍ଡେ ମାତ୍ର ଅଛି।”
And David sware moreover, and said, Thy father knoweth well that I have found grace in thine eyes; and he saith, Let not Jonathan know this, lest he be grieved: but truly as the LORD liveth, and as thy soul liveth, there is but a step between me and death.
4 ତେବେ ଯୋନାଥନ ଦାଉଦଙ୍କୁ କହିଲା, “ତୁମ୍ଭ ପ୍ରାଣ ଯାହା ବାଞ୍ଛା କରେ, ତାହା ମୁଁ ତୁମ୍ଭ ପାଇଁ କରିବି।”
Then said Jonathan unto David, Whatsoever thy soul desireth, I will even do it for thee.
5 ତହୁଁ ଦାଉଦ ଯୋନାଥନକୁ କହିଲେ, “ଦେଖ, କାଲି ଅମାବାସ୍ୟା, ପୁଣି, ରାଜାଙ୍କ ସଙ୍ଗେ ଭୋଜନରେ ବସିବା ପାଇଁ ମୋତେ ତ୍ରୁଟି କରିବାକୁ ହେବ ନାହିଁ; ମାତ୍ର ମୋତେ ଯିବାକୁ ଦିଅ, ମୁଁ ତୃତୀୟ ଦିନର ସନ୍ଧ୍ୟା ପର୍ଯ୍ୟନ୍ତ କ୍ଷେତ୍ରରେ ଲୁଚି ରହିବି।
And David said unto Jonathan, Behold, tomorrow is the new moon, and I should not fail to sit with the king at meat: but let me go, that I may hide myself in the field unto the third day at even.
6 ଯେବେ ତୁମ୍ଭ ପିତା ମୋʼ ବିଷୟ କିଛି ପଚାରିବେ, ତେବେ କହିବ, ‘ଦାଉଦ ଆପଣା ନଗର ବେଥଲିହିମକୁ ଧାଇଁ ଯିବା ପାଇଁ ମୋତେ ବହୁତ କହିଲା, କାରଣ ସେସ୍ଥାନରେ ସମୁଦାୟ ପରିବାର ନିମନ୍ତେ ବାର୍ଷିକ ବଳିଦାନ ହେବ।’
If thy father miss me at all, then say, David earnestly asked leave of me that he might run to Beth-lehem his city: for it is the yearly sacrifice there for all the family.
7 ଏଥିରେ ସେ ଯେବେ କହିବେ, ‘ଭଲ,’ ତେବେ ତୁମ୍ଭ ଦାସର କୁଶଳ ହେବ; ମାତ୍ର ସେ ଯେବେ ଅତି କ୍ରୋଧ କରନ୍ତି, ତେବେ ଜାଣ ଯେ, ତାଙ୍କ ଦ୍ୱାରା ଅମଙ୍ଗଳ ସ୍ଥିର ହୋଇଅଛି।
If he say thus, It is well; thy servant shall have peace: but if he be wroth, then know that evil is determined by him.
8 ଏହେତୁ ତୁମ୍ଭେ ଆପଣାର ଦାସ ପ୍ରତି ଦୟା କର; କାରଣ ତୁମ୍ଭେ ଆପଣା ସହିତ ଆପଣା ଦାସକୁ ସଦାପ୍ରଭୁଙ୍କ ଏକ ନିୟମରେ ଆବଦ୍ଧ କରିଅଛ; ମାତ୍ର ମୋହର ଯେବେ କୌଣସି ଅପରାଧ ଥାଏ, ତେବେ ତୁମ୍ଭେ ନିଜେ ମୋତେ ବଧ କର; ତୁମ୍ଭ ପିତାଙ୍କ ନିକଟକୁ କାହିଁକି ମୋତେ ନେଇଯିବ?”
Therefore deal kindly with thy servant; for thou hast brought thy servant into a covenant of the LORD with thee: but if there be in me iniquity, slay me thyself; for why shouldest thou bring me to thy father?
9 ତହିଁରେ ଯୋନାଥନ କହିଲା, “ତାହା ତୁମ୍ଭଠାରୁ ଦୂର ହେଉ; କାରଣ ତୁମ୍ଭ ପ୍ରତି ଅମଙ୍ଗଳ ଘଟଣା ମୋʼ ପିତାଙ୍କ ଦ୍ୱାରା ସ୍ଥିର ହୋଇଥିବାର ଯେବେ ମୁଁ ଜାଣିବି, ତେବେ ମୁଁ କି ତାହା ତୁମ୍ଭକୁ କହିବି ନାହିଁ?”
And Jonathan said, Far be it from thee: for if I should at all know that evil were determined by my father to come upon thee, then would not I tell it thee?
10 ତହୁଁ ଦାଉଦ ଯୋନାଥନକୁ କହିଲେ, “ତୁମ୍ଭ ପିତା ଯେବେ କଟୁ ଭାବରେ ତୁମ୍ଭକୁ ଉତ୍ତର ଦେବେ, ତେବେ କିଏ ମୋତେ କହିବ?”
Then said David to Jonathan, Who shall tell me if perchance thy father answer thee roughly?
11 ତହିଁରେ ଯୋନାଥନ ଦାଉଦଙ୍କୁ କହିଲା, “ଆସ, ଆମ୍ଭେମାନେ କ୍ଷେତ୍ରକୁ ଯାଉ।” ତହିଁରେ ସେ ଦୁହେଁ ବାହାରି କ୍ଷେତ୍ରକୁ ଗଲେ।
And Jonathan said unto David, Come and let us go out into the field. And they went out both of them into the field.
12 ଏଉତ୍ତାରେ ଯୋନାଥନ ଦାଉଦଙ୍କୁ କହିଲା, “ସଦାପ୍ରଭୁ ଇସ୍ରାଏଲର ପରମେଶ୍ୱର ସାକ୍ଷୀ ରହିଲେ; ମୁଁ କାଲି ଏହି ସମୟରେ ବା ତୃତୀୟ ଦିନରେ ଆପଣା ପିତାଙ୍କ ମନ ବୁଝିଲା ଉତ୍ତାରେ, ଦେଖ, ଯେବେ ଦାଉଦଙ୍କ ପକ୍ଷରେ ମଙ୍ଗଳ ଥାଏ, ତେବେ ମୁଁ ତୁମ୍ଭ କତିକି ଲୋକ ପଠାଇ କି ତାହା ତୁମ୍ଭ କର୍ଣ୍ଣଗୋଚର ନ କରିବି?
And Jonathan said unto David, The LORD, the God of Israel, [be witness]; when I have sounded my father about this time tomorrow, [or] the third day, behold, if there be good toward David, shall I not then send unto thee, and disclose it unto thee?
13 ତୁମ୍ଭର ଅମଙ୍ଗଳ କରିବା ମୋʼ ପିତାଙ୍କର ମାନସ ଥିଲେ, ଯେବେ ମୁଁ ତାହା ତୁମ୍ଭ କର୍ଣ୍ଣଗୋଚର ନ କରେ ଓ ତୁମ୍ଭେ କୁଶଳରେ ଯିବା ପାଇଁ ଯେବେ ତୁମ୍ଭକୁ ପଠାଇ ନ ଦିଏ, ତେବେ ସଦାପ୍ରଭୁ ସେହି ଦଣ୍ଡ, ମଧ୍ୟ ତହିଁରୁ ଅଧିକ ମୋତେ ଦେଉନ୍ତୁ। ସଦାପ୍ରଭୁ ଯେପରି ମୋ ପିତାଙ୍କ ସଙ୍ଗୀ ହୋଇଅଛନ୍ତି, ସେପରି ତୁମ୍ଭ ସଙ୍ଗରେ ହେଉନ୍ତୁ।
The LORD do so to Jonathan, and more also, should it please my father to do thee evil, if I disclose it not unto thee, and send thee away, that thou mayest go in peace: and the LORD be with thee, as he hath been with my father.
14 ହେଲେ ମୁଁ ଯେପରି ନ ମରେ, ଏଥିପାଇଁ ମୋହର ଯାବଜ୍ଜୀବନ ତୁମ୍ଭେ ସଦାପ୍ରଭୁଙ୍କ ଦୟା ମୋʼ ପ୍ରତି ପ୍ରକାଶ କରିବ;
And thou shalt not only while yet I live shew me the kindness of the LORD, that I die not:
15 କେବଳ ତାହା ନୁହେଁ, ସଦାକାଳ ମୋʼ ବଂଶରୁ ତୁମ୍ଭେ ଆପଣା ଦୟା ଉଚ୍ଛିନ୍ନ କରିବ ନାହିଁ; ନା, ସଦାପ୍ରଭୁ ଦାଉଦଙ୍କର ପ୍ରତ୍ୟେକ ଶତ୍ରୁକୁ ଭୂତଳରୁ ଉଚ୍ଛିନ୍ନ କଲା ଉତ୍ତାରେ ମଧ୍ୟ କରିବ ନାହିଁ।”
but also thou shalt not cut off thy kindness from my house for ever: no, not when the LORD hath cut off the enemies of David every one from the face of the earth.
16 ଏହିରୂପେ ଯୋନାଥନ ଦାଉଦ ବଂଶ ସହିତ ନିୟମ ସ୍ଥିର କରି କହିଲା, “ସଦାପ୍ରଭୁ ଦାଉଦଙ୍କ ଶତ୍ରୁମାନଙ୍କ ହସ୍ତରୁ ପରିଶୋଧ ନେବେ।”
So Jonathan made a covenant with the house of David, [saying], And the LORD shall require it at the hand of David’s enemies.
17 ଆଉ ଯୋନାଥନ ଦାଉଦଙ୍କୁ ସ୍ନେହ କରିବାରୁ ପୁନର୍ବାର ତାଙ୍କୁ ଶପଥ କରାଇଲା, କାରଣ ସେ ତାଙ୍କୁ ଆପଣା ପ୍ରାଣ ସମାନ ସ୍ନେହ କଲା।
And Jonathan caused David to swear again, for the love that he had to him: for he loved him as he loved his own soul.
18 ପୁଣି, ଯୋନାଥନ ତାଙ୍କୁ କହିଲା, “କାଲି ଅମାବାସ୍ୟା; ଆଉ ତୁମ୍ଭ ଆସନ ଶୂନ୍ୟ ହେଲେ ତୁମ୍ଭେ ଖୋଜାଯିବ।
Then Jonathan said unto him, Tomorrow is the new moon: and thou shalt be missed, because thy seat will be empty.
19 ଏଣୁ ତୁମ୍ଭେ ତିନି ଦିନ ରହିଲା ଉତ୍ତାରେ ଶୀଘ୍ର ଯାଇ କାର୍ଯ୍ୟଦିନରେ ଯେଉଁଠାରେ ଆପଣାକୁ ଲୁଚାଇଥିଲ, ସେହି ସ୍ଥାନରେ ଏଷଲ ନାମକ ପଥର ପାଖରେ ରହିବ।
And when thou hast stayed three days, thou shalt go down quickly, and come to the place where thou didst hide thyself when the business was in hand, and shalt remain by the stone Ezel.
20 ପୁଣି, ମୁଁ ଲକ୍ଷ୍ୟ କରିବା ଛଳରେ ତହିଁର ପାର୍ଶ୍ୱକୁ ତିନି ତୀର ମାରିବି।
And I will shoot three arrows on the side thereof, as though I shot at a mark.
21 ଆଉ ଦେଖ, ମୁଁ ଏକ ବାଳକକୁ ପଠାଇ କହିବି, ‘ଯାଇ ତୀର ଖୋଜ।’ ମୁଁ ଯେବେ ସେହି ବାଳକକୁ କହେ, ‘ଦେଖ, ତୀର ତୁମ୍ଭ ଏପାଖରେ ଅଛି,’ ତାହା ନେଇଆସ; ତେବେ ସଦାପ୍ରଭୁ ଜୀବିତ ଥିବା ପ୍ରମାଣେ ତୁମ୍ଭ ପାଇଁ ମଙ୍ଗଳ ଅଛି, କୌଣସି ଭୟ ନାହିଁ।
And, behold, I will send the lad, [saying], Go, find the arrows. If I say unto the lad, Behold, the arrows are on this side of thee: take them, and come; for there is peace to thee and no hurt, as the LORD liveth.
22 ମାତ୍ର ଦେଖ, ତୁମ୍ଭ ସେପାଖରେ ତୀର ଅଛି, ଯେବେ ମୁଁ ସେ ବାଳକକୁ ଏପରି କହେ; ତେବେ ତୁମ୍ଭେ ଚାଲିଯାଅ; କାରଣ ସଦାପ୍ରଭୁ ତୁମ୍ଭକୁ ବିଦାୟ କଲେ।
But if I say thus unto the boy, Behold, the arrows are beyond thee: go thy way; for the LORD hath sent thee away.
23 ଆଉ ଦେଖ, ତୁମ୍ଭର ଓ ମୋହର ଏହି କଥୋପକଥନ ବିଷୟରେ ସଦାପ୍ରଭୁ ତୁମ୍ଭ ଓ ମୋʼ ମଧ୍ୟରେ ସାକ୍ଷୀ ରହିଲେ।”
And as touching the matter which thou and I have spoken of, behold, the LORD is between thee and me for ever.
24 ତହିଁରେ ଦାଉଦ କ୍ଷେତ୍ରରେ ଲୁଚିଲେ; ପୁଣି, ଅମାବାସ୍ୟା ଉପସ୍ଥିତ ହୁଅନ୍ତେ, ରାଜା ଭୋଜନରେ ବସିଲେ।
So David hid himself in the field: and when the new moon was come, the king sat him down to eat meat.
25 ଆଉ ରାଜା ଅନ୍ୟ ସମୟ ପରି କାନ୍ଥ ନିକଟସ୍ଥ ଆପଣା ଆସନରେ ବସିଲେ; ଏଥିରେ ଯୋନାଥନ ଠିଆ ହେଲା ଓ ଅବ୍ନର ଶାଉଲଙ୍କ ପାଖରେ ବସିଲା; ମାତ୍ର ଦାଉଦଙ୍କର ସ୍ଥାନ ଶୂନ୍ୟ ଥିଲା।
And the king sat upon his seat, as at other times, even upon the seat by the wall; and Jonathan stood up, and Abner sat by Saul’s side: but David’s place was empty.
26 ତଥାପି ସେହି ଦିନ ଶାଉଲ କିଛି କହିଲେ ନାହିଁ; କାରଣ ସେ ବିଚାର କଲେ, ତାହାକୁ କିଛି ଘଟିଅଛି, ସେ ଶୁଚି ନାହିଁ; ସେ ଅବଶ୍ୟ ଶୁଚି ନ ଥିବ।
Nevertheless Saul spake not any thing that day: for he thought, Something hath befallen him, he is not clean; surely he is not clean.
27 ମାତ୍ର ଅମାବାସ୍ୟାର ପର ଦିବସ ଦ୍ୱିତୀୟ ଦିନରେ ଦାଉଦଙ୍କର ସ୍ଥାନ ଶୂନ୍ୟ ହେଲା; ତହିଁରେ ଶାଉଲ ଆପଣା ପୁତ୍ର ଯୋନାଥନକୁ କହିଲେ, “ଯିଶୀର ପୁତ୍ର କାହିଁକି ଭୋଜନକୁ ଆସୁ ନାହିଁ, କାଲି ନାହିଁ କି ଆଜି ନାହିଁ?”
And it came to pass on the morrow after the new moon, [which was] the second [day], that David’s place was empty: and Saul said unto Jonathan his son, Wherefore cometh not the son of Jesse to meat, neither yesterday, nor today?
28 ତହୁଁ ଯୋନାଥନ ଶାଉଲଙ୍କୁ ଉତ୍ତର କଲା, “ଦାଉଦ ବେଥଲିହିମକୁ ଯିବା ପାଇଁ ମୋତେ ବହୁତ କହିଲା,
And Jonathan answered Saul, David earnestly asked leave of me to go to Beth-lehem:
29 ଆଉ ସେ କହିଲା, ‘ବିନୟ କରୁଅଛି, ମୋତେ ଯିବାକୁ ଦିଅ; କାରଣ ନଗରରେ ମୋର ପରିବାର ପାଇଁ ବଳିଦାନ ହେବାର ଅଛି ଓ ସେଠାରେ ଉପସ୍ଥିତ ହେବା ପାଇଁ ମୋହର ଭାଇ ମୋତେ ଆଜ୍ଞା ଦେଇଅଛନ୍ତି।’ ଏହେତୁ ମୁଁ ଯେବେ ତୁମ୍ଭ ଦୃଷ୍ଟିରେ ଅନୁଗ୍ରହ ପାଇଅଛି, ତେବେ ବିନୟ କରୁଅଛି ମୋର ଭାଇମାନଙ୍କୁ ଦେଖିବା ପାଇଁ ମୋତେ ଛାଡ଼ିଦିଅ। ଏହି କାରଣରୁ ସେ ରାଜାଙ୍କ ମେଜକୁ ଆସି ନାହିଁ।”
and he said, Let me go, I pray thee; for our family hath a sacrifice in the city; and my brother, he hath commanded me [to be there]: and now, if I have found favour in thine eyes, let me get away, I pray thee, and see my brethren. Therefore he is not come unto the king’s table.
30 ଏଥିରେ ଯୋନାଥନ ପ୍ରତି ଶାଉଲଙ୍କ କ୍ରୋଧ ପ୍ରଜ୍ୱଳିତ ହେଲା ଓ ସେ ତାହାକୁ କହିଲେ, “ଆରେ ବିପଥଗାମିନୀ ଦ୍ରୋହିଣୀର ପୁତ୍ର, ତୁ ଯେ ଆପଣାର ଲଜ୍ଜା ଓ ଆପଣା ମାତାର ଆବରଣୀୟର ଲଜ୍ଜା ନିମନ୍ତେ ଯିଶୀର ପୁତ୍ରକୁ ମନୋନୀତ କରିଅଛୁ, ଏହା କʼଣ ମୁଁ ଜାଣୁ ନାହିଁ?
Then Saul’s anger was kindled against Jonathan, and he said unto him, Thou son of a perverse rebellious woman, do not I know that thou hast chosen the son of Jesse to thine own shame, and unto the shame of thy mother’s nakedness?
31 କାରଣ ସେହି ଯିଶୀର ପୁତ୍ର ଯେଯାଏ ଭୂତଳରେ ବଞ୍ଚିଥାଏ, ସେଯାଏ, ତୁ, କି ତୋʼ ରାଜ୍ୟ ସ୍ଥିର ହେବ ନାହିଁ। ଏଥିପାଇଁ ଏବେ ଲୋକ ପଠାଇ ତାକୁ ମୋʼ କତିକି ଆଣ, କାରଣ ସେ ନିଶ୍ଚୟ ମରିବ।”
For as long as the son of Jesse liveth upon the ground, thou shalt not be stablished, nor thy kingdom. Wherefore now send and fetch him unto me, for he shall surely die.
32 ତହିଁରେ ଯୋନାଥନ ଆପଣା ପିତା ଶାଉଲଙ୍କୁ ଉତ୍ତର କରି କହିଲା, “ସେ କାହିଁକି ହତ ହେବ? ସେ କଅଣ କରିଅଛି?”
And Jonathan answered Saul his father, and said unto him, Wherefore should he be put to death? what hath he done?
33 ତହୁଁ ଶାଉଲ ତାହାକୁ ଆଘାତ କରିବା ପାଇଁ ତାହା ଉପରକୁ ଆପଣା ବର୍ଚ୍ଛା ଫୋପାଡ଼ିଲେ; ତଦ୍ଦ୍ୱାରା ଯୋନାଥନ ଜାଣିଲା ଯେ, ଦାଉଦଙ୍କୁ ବଧ କରିବା ଆପଣା ପିତାଙ୍କ ଦ୍ୱାରା ସ୍ଥିରୀକୃତ ହୋଇଅଛି।
And Saul cast his spear at him to smite him: whereby Jonathan knew that it was determined of his father to put David to death.
34 ଏହେତୁ ଯୋନାଥନ ପ୍ରଚଣ୍ଡ କ୍ରୋଧରେ ମେଜରୁ ଉଠିଲା ଓ ମାସର ଦ୍ୱିତୀୟ ଦିନରେ କିଛି ଭୋଜନ କଲା ନାହିଁ; କାରଣ ତାହାର ପିତା ଦାଉଦଙ୍କର ଅପକାର କରିବାରୁ ସେ ତାଙ୍କ ଲାଗି ଦୁଃଖିତ ହେଲା।
So Jonathan arose from the table in fierce anger, and did eat no meat the second day of the month: for he was grieved for David, because his father had done him shame.
35 ଏଉତ୍ତାରେ ପ୍ରାତଃକାଳରେ ଯୋନାଥନ ଦାଉଦଙ୍କ ସହିତ ନିରୂପିତ ସମୟରେ କ୍ଷେତ୍ରକୁ ବାହାରିଗଲା, ଆଉ ତାହା ସଙ୍ଗେ ଗୋଟିଏ ସାନ ବାଳକ ଥିଲା।
And it came to pass in the morning, that Jonathan went out into the field at the time appointed with David, and a little lad with him.
36 ପୁଣି, ସେ ଆପଣା ବାଳକକୁ କହିଲା, “ମୁଁ ଯେଉଁ ତୀର ମାରିବି, ତାହାସବୁ ତୁ ଦୌଡ଼ିଯାଇ ଖୋଜ।” ଏଥିରେ ବାଳକ ଦୌଡ଼ନ୍ତେ, ସେ ତାହା ଉପର ଦେଇ ଯିବାକୁ ତୀର ମାରିଲା।
And he said unto his lad, Run, find now the arrows which I shoot. And as the lad ran, he shot an arrow beyond him.
37 ଆଉ ଯୋନାଥନ ଯେଉଁ ସ୍ଥାନକୁ ତୀର ମାରିଥିଲା, ସେହି ସ୍ଥାନରେ ବାଳକ ଉପସ୍ଥିତ ହୁଅନ୍ତେ, ଯୋନାଥନ ବାଳକକୁ ଡାକି କହିଲା, “ତୀର ତୋʼ ସେପାଖରେ ଅଛି ପରା?”
And when the lad was come to the place of the arrow which Jonathan had shot, Jonathan cried after the lad, and said, Is not the arrow beyond thee?
38 ଆହୁରି ଯୋନାଥନ ବାଳକକୁ ଡାକି କହିଲା, “ଚଞ୍ଚଳ ଦୌଡ଼୍, ରହ ନା।” ତହିଁରେ ଯୋନାଥନର ବାଳକ ତୀର ସାଉଣ୍ଟି ଆପଣା ପ୍ରଭୁ ନିକଟକୁ ଆସିଲା।
And Jonathan cried after the lad, Make speed, haste, stay not. And Jonathan’s lad gathered up the arrows, and came to his master.
39 ମାତ୍ର ସେ ବାଳକ କିଛି ଜାଣିଲା ନାହିଁ; କେବଳ ଯୋନାଥନ ଓ ଦାଉଦ ସେ କଥା ଜାଣିଲେ।
But the lad knew not any thing: only Jonathan and David knew the matter.
40 ଏଉତ୍ତାରେ ଯୋନାଥନ ଆପଣା ବାଳକ ହସ୍ତରେ ଆପଣା ଶସ୍ତ୍ରାଦି ଦେଇ ତାହାକୁ କହିଲା, “ଯା, ଏସବୁ ନଗରକୁ ନେ।”
And Jonathan gave his weapons unto his lad, and said unto him, Go, carry them to the city.
41 ପୁଣି, ବାଳକ ଯିବା ମାତ୍ରେ ଦାଉଦ ଦକ୍ଷିଣ ଆଡ଼ର ଏକ ସ୍ଥାନରୁ ଉଠିଲେ ଓ ଭୂମିଷ୍ଠ ହୋଇ ତିନି ଥର ପ୍ରଣାମ କଲେ; ପୁଣି, ସେମାନେ ପରସ୍ପରକୁ ଚୁମ୍ବନ କଲେ ଓ ଏକଆରେକ ସଙ୍ଗେ ରୋଦନ କଲେ, ମାତ୍ର ଦାଉଦ ବଳି ପଡ଼ିଲେ।
And as soon as the lad was gone, David arose out of [a place] toward the South, and fell on his face to the ground, and bowed himself three times: and they kissed one another, and wept one with another, until David exceeded.
42 ଏଥିରେ ଯୋନାଥନ ଦାଉଦଙ୍କୁ କହିଲା, “କୁଶଳରେ ଯାଅ, ଆମ୍ଭେ ଦୁହେଁ ତ ସଦାପ୍ରଭୁଙ୍କ ନାମରେ ଶପଥ କରି କହିଅଛୁ, ସଦାପ୍ରଭୁ ସର୍ବଦା ମୋର ଓ ତୁମ୍ଭର, ପୁଣି, ମୋʼ ବଂଶ ଓ ତୁମ୍ଭ ବଂଶର ମଧ୍ୟବର୍ତ୍ତୀ ହେଉନ୍ତୁ।” ତହୁଁ ସେ ଉଠି ପ୍ରସ୍ଥାନ କଲେ, ପୁଣି, ଯୋନାଥନ ନଗରକୁ ଗଲା।
And Jonathan said to David, Go in peace, forasmuch as we have sworn both of us in the name of the LORD, saying, The LORD shall be between me and thee, and between my seed and thy seed, for ever. And he arose and departed: and Jonathan went into the city.
