କରିନ୍ଥୀୟ 8
1 ଦେବପ୍ରସାଦ ସମ୍ବନ୍ଧରେ ମୋହର ଉତ୍ତର ଏହି, ଆମ୍ଭ ସମସ୍ତଙ୍କର ଜ୍ଞାନ ଅଛି ବୋଲି ତୁମ୍ଭେମାନେ ଯାହା କହୁଅଛ, ତାହା ଆମ୍ଭେମାନେ ଜାଣୁ। ଜ୍ଞାନ ଅହଙ୍କାର ଜନ୍ମାଏ, କିନ୍ତୁ ପ୍ରେମରୁ ନିଷ୍ଠା ଜାତ ହୁଏ।
Now concerning things sacrificed to idols: We know that we all have knowledge. Knowledge puffeth up, but love edifieth.
2 ଯଦି କେହି କୌଣସି ବିଷୟରେ ଜ୍ଞାନୀ ବୋଲି ମନେ କରେ, ତେବେ ତାହାର ଯେପରି ଜାଣିବା ଉଚିତ୍, ସେ ଏପର୍ଯ୍ୟନ୍ତ ସେପରି ଜାଣି ନାହିଁ;
If any man thinketh that he knoweth anything, he knoweth not yet as he ought to know;
3 କିନ୍ତୁ ଯଦି କେହି ଈଶ୍ବରଙ୍କୁ ପ୍ରେମ କରେ, ସେହି ଜଣ ତାହାଙ୍କ ପରିଚିତ।
but if any man loveth God, the same is known of him.
4 ଏଣୁ ଦେବପ୍ରସାଦ ଭୋଜନ ବିଷୟରେ ଆମ୍ଭେମାନେ ଜାଣୁ ଯେ, ଜଗତରେ ଦେବତା ବୋଲି କିଛି ନାହିଁ, ଆଉ ଏକ ଈଶ୍ବର ବିନା ଦ୍ୱିତୀୟ ନାହିଁ।
Concerning therefore the eating of things sacrificed to idols, we know that no idol is [anything] in the world, and that there is no God but one.
5 କାରଣ ସ୍ୱର୍ଗରେ ହେଉ ବା ପୃଥିବୀରେ ହେଉ, ଯେଉଁମାନଙ୍କୁ ଦେବତା ବୋଲି କୁହାଯାଏ, ଯଦ୍ୟପି ସେମାନେ ଥାଇ ପାରନ୍ତି (ଏପରି ତ ଅନେକ ଦେବତା ଓ ଅନେକ ପ୍ରଭୁ ଅଛନ୍ତି),
For though there be that are called gods, whether in heaven or on earth; as there are gods many, and lords many;
6 ତଥାପି ଆମ୍ଭମାନଙ୍କର ଏକମାତ୍ର ଈଶ୍ବର, ଅର୍ଥାତ୍ ଯେଉଁ ପିତାଙ୍କଠାରୁ ସମସ୍ତ ବିଷୟ ହୋଇଅଛି, ଆଉ ଆମ୍ଭେମାନେ ତାହାଙ୍କ ନିମନ୍ତେ ହୋଇଅଛୁ, ପୁଣି, ଏକମାତ୍ର ପ୍ରଭୁ, ଅର୍ଥାତ୍ ଯୀଶୁ ଖ୍ରୀଷ୍ଟ, ତାହାଙ୍କ ଦ୍ୱାରା ସମସ୍ତ ବିଷୟ ହୋଇଅଛି, ପୁଣି, ତାହାଙ୍କ ଦ୍ୱାରା ଆମ୍ଭେମାନେ ହୋଇଅଛୁ।
yet to us there is one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we unto him; and one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom are all things, and we through him.
7 ତଥାପି ସମସ୍ତଙ୍କର ଏହି ଜ୍ଞାନ ନାହିଁ; କିନ୍ତୁ କେତେକ ଲୋକ ଏପର୍ଯ୍ୟନ୍ତ ଦେବତା ଅଛି ବୋଲି ଭାବି ଦେବପ୍ରସାଦ ଭୋଜନ କରନ୍ତି, ଆଉ ସେମାନଙ୍କର ବିବେକ ଦୁର୍ବଳ ଥିବାରୁ କଳୁଷିତ ହୁଏ।
Howbeit in all men there is not that knowledge: but some, being used until now to the idol, eat as [of] a thing sacrificed to an idol; and their conscience being weak is defiled.
8 କିନ୍ତୁ ଖାଦ୍ୟଦ୍ରବ୍ୟ ଆମ୍ଭମାନଙ୍କୁ ଈଶ୍ବରଙ୍କ ନିକଟରେ ଗ୍ରାହ୍ୟ କି ଅଗ୍ରାହ୍ୟ କରାଏ ନାହିଁ; ଭୋଜନ ନ କଲେ ଆମ୍ଭମାନଙ୍କର କ୍ଷତି ହୁଏ ନାହିଁ, କିମ୍ବା ଭୋଜନ କଲେ ଆମ୍ଭମାନଙ୍କର ଲାଭ ହୁଏ ନାହିଁ।
But meat will not commend us to God: neither, if we eat not, are we the worse; nor, if we eat, are we the better.
9 କିନ୍ତୁ ସାବଧାନ, କାଳେ ତୁମ୍ଭମାନଙ୍କର ଏହି ଅଧିକାର ଦୁର୍ବଳମାନଙ୍କର ଝୁଣ୍ଟିବାର କାରଣ ହୁଏ।
But take heed lest by any means this liberty of yours become a stumblingblock to the weak.
10 କାରଣ ଜ୍ଞାନୀ ଯେ ତୁମ୍ଭେ, ତୁମ୍ଭକୁ ଯଦି କେହି ପ୍ରତିମାର ମନ୍ଦିରରେ ଭୋଜନରେ ବସିବାର ଦେଖେ, ତେବେ ସେ ଦୁର୍ବଳ ହୋଇଥିଲେ ତାହାର ବିବେକ କଅଣ ଦେବପ୍ରସାଦ ଭୋଜନ କରିବାକୁ ସାହସିକ ହେବ ନାହିଁ?
For if a man see thee which hast knowledge sitting at meat in an idol’s temple, will not his conscience, if he is weak, be emboldened to eat things sacrificed to idols?
11 ଏଣୁ ଯେଉଁ ଦୁର୍ବଳ ଭ୍ରାତା ନିମନ୍ତେ ଖ୍ରୀଷ୍ଟ ମୃତ୍ୟୁଭୋଗ କଲେ, ସେ ତୁମ୍ଭ ଜ୍ଞାନ ଦ୍ୱାରା ନଷ୍ଟ ହେଉଅଛି।
For through thy knowledge he that is weak perisheth, the brother for whose sake Christ died.
12 ଏହି ପ୍ରକାରେ ଭାଇମାନଙ୍କ ବିରୁଦ୍ଧରେ ପାପ କରି ଓ ସେମାନଙ୍କ ଦୁର୍ବଳ ବିବେକକୁ ଆଘାତ କରି ତୁମ୍ଭେମାନେ ଖ୍ରୀଷ୍ଟଙ୍କ ବିରୁଦ୍ଧରେ ପାପ କରୁଅଛ।
And thus, sinning against the brethren, and wounding their conscience when it is weak, ye sin against Christ.
