< Salmenes 3 >

1 Ein salme av David, då han flydde for Absalom, son sin. Herre, kor mange mine fiendar er! Mange reiser seg imot meg.
A psalm of David concerning the time he had to flee from his son Absalom. Lord, my enemies have become so many; so many are rebelling against me.
2 Mange segjer til mi sjæl: «Det finst ikkje frelsa for honom hjå Gud.» (Sela)
So many are telling me, “God can't save you!” (Selah)
3 Men du, Herre, er min skjold, mi æra og den som lyfter mitt hovud.
But you, Lord, are a shield protecting me. You give me victory; you hold my head high.
4 Eg ropar høgt til Herren, og han svarar meg frå sitt heilage fjell. (Sela)
I cry out to the Lord for help, and he answers me from his holy mountain. (Selah)
5 Eg lagde meg og sovna; eg vakna upp, for Herren held meg uppe.
I lie down to sleep, and in the morning I wake up because the Lord takes care of me.
6 Eg ottast ikkje for ti tusund av folk, som hev lægra seg imot meg rundt ikring.
I'm not afraid of tens of thousands who surround me, people who are against me.
7 Statt upp, Herre, frels meg, min Gud! For du hev slege alle mine fiendar på kinni, du hev knasa tennerne på dei ugudlege.
Stand up for me, Lord! Save me, my God! Hit all my enemies on the cheek; break the teeth of the wicked!
8 Herren høyrer frelsa til. Lat di velsigning vera yver ditt folk! (Sela)
Salvation belongs to you, Lord; may you be a blessing to your people. (Selah)
