Salmenes 26

1 Av David. Søm meg til min rett, Herre! for eg hev fare fram i mi uskyld, og til Herren hev eg sett mi lit uruggeleg.

[A Psalm] of David. Judge me, O Jehovah, for I have walked in mine integrity, and I have confided in Jehovah: I shall not slip.

2 Prøv meg, Herre, og freista meg, ransaka mine nyro og mitt hjarta!

Prove me, Jehovah, and test me; try my reins and my heart:

3 For din nåde er for mine augo, og eg ferdast i di sanning.

For thy loving-kindness is before mine eyes, and I have walked in thy truth.

4 Eg sit ikkje saman med falske menner og gjeng ikkje inn hjå fule folk.

I have not sat with vain persons, neither have I gone in with dissemblers;

5 Eg hatar samkoma av illmenne, og hjå dei ugudlege sit eg ikkje.

I have hated the congregation of evil-doers, and I have not sat with the wicked.

6 Eg tvær mine hender i uskyld og vil gjerne ferdast um ditt altar, Herre,

I will wash my hands in innocency, and will encompass thine altar, O Jehovah,

7 til å kveda lydt med lovsongs røyst og fortelja um alle dine under.

That I may cause the voice of thanksgiving to be heard, and declare all thy marvellous works.

8 Herre, eg elskar di husvist og den stad der din herlegdom bur.

Jehovah, I have loved the habitation of thy house, and the place where thy glory dwelleth.

9 Rykk ikkje mi sjæl burt med syndarar eller mitt liv med blodgiruge menner,

Gather not my soul with sinners, nor my life with men of blood;

10 som hev skamgjerd i sine hender og si høgre hand full av mutor.

In whose hands are evil devices, and their right hand is full of bribes.

11 Men eg fer fram i mi uskyld; løys meg ut og ver meg nådig!

But as for me, I will walk in mine integrity. Redeem me, and be gracious unto me.

12 Min fot stend på slettlende. I samlingarne skal eg lova Herren.

My foot standeth in an even place; in the congregations will I bless Jehovah.
