1 Ein salme av David. Herre, eg ropar på deg, skunda deg til meg! Vend øyra til mi røyst når eg ropar til deg!

Jehovah, I have called upon thee. Make haste to me. Give ear to my voice when I call to thee.

2 Lat bøni mi gjelda som røykoffer for ditt andlit, mi hand-upplyfting som kvelds-grjonoffer!

Let my prayer be set forth as incense before thee, the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice.

3 Herre, set vakt for munnen min, vara mi lippe-dør!

Set a watch, O Jehovah, before my mouth. Keep the door of my lips.

4 Bøyg ikkje mitt hjarta til noko vondt til å gjera ugudlege gjerningar saman med menner som gjer urett, og ikkje lat meg eta av deira lostemat!

Incline not my heart to any evil thing, to practice deeds of wickedness with men who work iniquity. And let me not eat of their dainties.

5 Lat ein rettferdig slå meg i kjærleik og tukta meg! Slik hovudsalve skal ikkje mitt hovud forsmå! Um det varer, so set eg mi bøn mot deira vondskap.

Let a righteous man smite me, as a kindness. And let him reprove me, as oil upon the head. Let not my head refuse it. For even in their wickedness my prayer shall continue.

6 Deira domarar vert sturta utfyre fjellveggen, og sjølv skal dei høyra mine ord, at dei er yndelege.

Their judges are thrown down by the sides of the rock. And they shall hear my words, for they are sweet.

7 Som når ein pløgjer og rotar i jordi, so ligg beini våre spreidde kring ved døri til helheimen. (Sheol h7585)

Like plowing and furrowing the earth, our bones are scattered at the mouth of Sheol. (Sheol h7585)

8 For upp til deg, Herre, Herre, ser mine augo, til deg flyr eg, tøm ikkje ut mi sjæl!

For my eyes are to thee, O Jehovah the Lord. In thee do I take refuge. Leave not my soul destitute.

9 Vara meg ifrå fella dei hev sett for meg, og snarorne til deim som gjer urett!

Keep me from the snare which they have laid for me, and from the traps of the workers of iniquity.

10 Lat dei ugudlege falla i sine eigne garn, medan eg gjeng uskadd framum!

Let the wicked fall into their own nets, while I pass over.
