Salmenes 106
1 Halleluja! Prisa Herren, for han er god, for æveleg varer hans miskunn!
Alleluia. Give thanks to the Lord; for he is good: for his mercy [endures] for ever.
2 Kven kann fullt ut nemna Herrens velduge verk, forkynna all hans lov?
Who shall tell the mighty acts of the Lord? [who] shall cause all his praises to be heard?
3 Sæle er dei som tek vare på det som rett er, den som gjer rettferd til kvar tid!
Blessed are they that keep judgement, and do righteousness at all times.
4 Herre, kom meg i hug med den godhug du hev for ditt folk, gjesta meg med di frelsa!
Remember us, O Lord, with the favour [you have] to your people: visit us with your salvation;
5 so eg kann skoda lukka åt dine utvalde, gleda meg med ditt folks gleda, rosa meg med din arv.
that we may behold the good of your elect, that we may rejoice in the gladness of your nation, that we may glory with your inheritance.
6 Me hev synda med våre feder, me hev gjort ille, me hev vore ugudlege.
We have sinned with our fathers, we have transgressed, we have done unrighteously.
7 Våre feder i Egyptarland agta ikkje på dine under, dei kom ikkje i hug dine mange nådegjerningar, men dei var tråssuge ved havet, ved Raudehavet.
Our fathers in Egypt understood not your wonders, and remembered not the multitude of your mercy; but provoked [him] as they went up by the Red Sea.
8 Men endå frelste han deim for sitt namn skuld, av di han vilde kunngjera si magt,
Yet he saved them for his name's sake, that he might cause his mighty power to be known.
9 og han truga Raudehavet so det vart turt, og han let deim ganga gjenom djupi som på slette marki,
And he rebuked the Red Sea, and it was dried up: so he led them through the deep as through the wilderness.
10 og han frelste deim frå hans hand som hata deim, og løyste deim ut or fiendehand,
And he saved them out of the hand of them that hated [them], and redeemed them out of the hand of the enemy.
11 og vatn gøymde deira motstandarar, ikkje ein vart att av deim.
The water covered those that oppressed them: there was not one of them left.
12 Då trudde dei på ordi hans, då song dei hans lov.
Then they believed his words, and celebrated his praise.
13 Men snart gløymde dei hans gjerningar, dei bia ikkje på hans råd;
They made haste, they forgot his works; they waited not for his counsel.
14 men dei fekk ein gir i seg i øydemarki, og dei freista Gud på den ubygde stad.
And they lusted exceedingly in the wilderness, and tempted God in the dry [land].
15 Då gav han deim det dei vilde hava, men sende tærande sjukdom yver deira liv.
And he gave them their request, and sent fullness into their souls.
16 Og dei vart ovundsjuke på Moses i lægret, på Aron, Herrens heilage.
They provoked Moses also in the camp, and Aaron the holy one of the Lord.
17 Då opna jordi seg og slukte Datan, og ho let seg att yver flokken åt Abiram,
The earth opened and swallowed up Dathan, and closed upon the congregation of Abiron.
18 og det kveiktest eld på flokken deira, ein loge brende upp dei ugudlege.
And a fire was kindled in their congregation, and a flame burnt up the sinners.
19 Dei gjorde ein kalv ved Horeb og tilbad eit støypt bilæte,
And they made a calf in Choreb, and worshipped the graven image,
20 og dei bytte burt si æra for bilætet av ein ukse som et gras.
and they changed their glory into the similitude of a calf that feeds on grass.
21 Dei gløymde Gud, sin frelsar, som hadde gjort store ting i Egyptarland,
They forgot God that saved them, who had wrought great deeds in Egypt;
22 undergjerningar i Khams land, skræmelege ting ved Raudehavet.
wondrous [works] in the land of Cham, and terrible things at the Red Sea.
23 Og han tenktest til å tyna deim, dersom ikkje Moses, hans utvalde, hadde kasta seg imillom for hans åsyn til å avvenda hans vreide, at han ikkje skulde øydeleggja.
So he said that he would have destroyed them, had not Moses his chosen stood before him in the breach, to turn [him] away from the fierceness of his anger, so that he should not destroy them.
24 Og dei vanvyrde det herlege landet, dei trudde ikkje ordet hans,
Moreover they set at nothing the desirable land, and believed not his word.
25 og dei knurra i sine tjeld, høyrde ikkje på Herrens røyst.
And they murmured in their tents: they listened not to the voice of the Lord.
26 Då lyfte han si hand imot deim til å slå deim ned i øydemarki,
So he lifted up his hand against them, to cast them down in the wilderness;
27 og slå deira etterkomarar ned millom heidningarne og spreida deim kring i landi.
and to cast down their seed amongst the nations, and to scatter them in the countries.
28 Og dei batt seg saman med Ba’al-Peor, og dei åt av offer til dei daude,
They were joined also to Beelphegor, and ate the sacrifices of the dead. And they provoked him with their devices;
29 og dei vekte harm ved si åtferd, og ei plåga braut ut millom deim.
and destruction, was multiplied amongst them.
30 Då stod Pinehas fram og heldt dom, og plåga stilltest;
Then Phinees stood up, and made atonement: and the plague ceased.
31 og det vart rekna honom til rettferd frå ætt til ætt æveleg.
And it was counted to him for righteousness, to all generations for ever.
32 Og dei vekte vreide ved Meribavatnet, og det gjekk Moses ille for deira skuld;
They provoked him also at the water of Strife, and Moses was hurt for their sakes;
33 for dei var tråssuge mot hans ande, og han tala tankelaust med sine lippor.
for they provoked his spirit, and he spoke [unadvisedly] with his lips.
34 Dei øydelagde ikkje dei folki som Herren hadde tala med deim um,
They destroyed not the nations which the Lord told them [to destroy];
35 men dei blanda seg med heidningarne og lærde deira gjerningar,
but were mingled with the heathen, and learnt their works.
36 og dei tente deira avgudar, og desse vart deim til ei snara,
And they served their graven images; and it became an offence to them.
37 og dei ofra sine søner og døtter til magterne,
And they sacrificed their sons and their daughters to devils,
38 og dei rende ut skuldlaust blod, blod av sine søner og døtter som dei ofra til Kana’ans avgudar, og landet vart vanhelga med blodskuld.
and shed innocent blood, the blood of their sons and daughters, whom they sacrificed to the idols of Chanaan; and the land was defiled with blood.
39 Og dei vart ureine ved sine gjerningar og dreiv hor ved si åtferd.
and was polluted with their works; and they went a whoring with their own devices.
40 Då loga Herrens vreide upp imot hans folk, og han stygdest ved sin arv.
So the Lord was very angry with his people, and he abhorred his inheritance.
41 Og han gav deim i handi på heidningar, og dei som hata deim, vart herrar yver deim,
And he delivered them into the hands of [their] enemies; and they that hated them ruled over them.
42 og deira fiendar trengde deim, og dei laut bøygja seg under deira hand.
Ands their enemies oppressed them, and they were brought down under their hands.
43 Mange gonger fria han deim ut, men dei var tråssuge og sjølvrådige, og dei kom reint i vesaldom for si misgjerning.
Many a time he delivered them; but they provoked him by their counsel, and they were brought low by their iniquities.
44 Men han såg til deim då dei var i naud, med di han høyrde deira klagerop.
You the Lord looked upon their affliction, when he heard their petition.
45 Og han kom i hug si pakt for deim, og han ynkast etter si store miskunn.
And he remembered his covenant, and repented according to the multitude of his mercy.
46 Og han let deim finna miskunn hjå alle som hadde fanga deim.
And he caused them to be pitied in the sight of all who carried them captive.
47 Frels oss, Herre vår Gud, og samla oss frå heidningarne, so me kann prisa ditt heilage namn, rosa oss av ditt lov!
Save us, O Lord our God, and gather us from amongst the heathen, that we may give thanks to your holy name, that we may glory in your praise.
48 Lova vere Herren, Israels Gud, frå æva og til æva! Og alt folket segje: Amen. Halleluja!
Blessed be the Lord God of Israel from everlasting and to everlasting; and all the people shall say, Amen, Amen.
