Salmenes 105
1 Prisa Herren, kalla på hans namn! Kunngjer millom folkeslagi hans storverk!
O give thanks unto the Lord; call on his name: make known among the people his deeds.
2 Syng for honom, syng honom lov! tala um alle hans under.
Sing unto, him, sing praises unto him: speak of all his wonderful works.
3 Rosa dykk av hans heilage namn, hjarta glede seg hjå deim som søkjer Herren!
Glorify yourselves in his holy name: let the heart of those rejoice that seek the Lord.
4 Spør etter Herren og hans magt, søk hans åsyn alltid!
Inquire after the Lord and his strength: seek his presence evermore.
5 Kom i hug hans under som han hev gjort, hans undergjerningar og domsordi frå hans munn,
Remember his wonderful works which he hath done; his tokens, and the decrees of his mouth;
6 de, etterkomarar av Abraham, hans tenar, søner åt Jakob, hans utvalde!
O ye seed of Abraham his servant, ye children of Jacob, his elect.
7 Han er Herren, vår Gud, yver all jordi gjeng hans domar.
He is the Lord our God: over all the earth are his decrees.
8 Han kjem æveleg i hug si pakt, det ord han sette fast for tusund ætter,
He remembereth his covenant for ever, the word which he hath commanded, to the thousandth generation.
9 den pakt han gjorde med Abraham, og sin eid til Isak;
Which he covenanted with Abraham; and his oath unto Isaac;
10 og han gjorde det til ein rett for Jakob, for Israel ei æveleg pakt,
And which he established unto Jacob as a statute, unto Israel as an everlasting covenant:
11 med di han sagde: «Deg vil eg gjeva Kana’ans land til arvlut.»
Saying, “Unto thee will I give the land of Canaan, as the portion of your inheritance.”
12 Då dei var ein liten flokk, få og framande der,
When they were but a few men in number; yea, very few, and strangers in it;
13 og dei vandra frå folk til folk, frå eitt rike til eit anna folk,
And when they wandered from one nation to another, from one kingdom to another people:
14 let han ingen mann få gjera valdsverk mot deim, og han refste kongar for deira skuld:
He suffered no man to oppress them; yea, he reproved kings for their sake;
15 «Rør ikkje dei eg hev salva, og gjer ikkje vondt med mine profetar!»
[Saying, ] “Touch not my anointed, and do my prophets no harm,”—
16 Og han kalla hunger inn yver landet, kvar studnad av brød braut han sund.
And he called for a famine over the land; every staff of bread he broke.
17 Han sende ein mann fyre deim, til træl vart Josef seld.
He sent a man before them; for a servant was Joseph sold;
18 Dei plåga hans føter i lekkjor, i jarn vart han lagd,
They forced into fetters his feet; in iron was his body put:
19 til den tid då hans ord slo til, då Herrens ord viste at han var uskuldig.
Until the time that his word came to pass, [when] the saying of the Lord had purified him.
20 Då sende kongen bod og løyste honom, Herren yver folkeslag gav honom fri.
The king sent and unfettered him; the ruler of people, and let him go free.
21 Han sette honom til herre yver sitt hus, til å råda yver all hans eigedom;
He appointed him lord of his house, and ruler of all his possession:
22 so han skulde binda hans hovdingar etter sin vilje og læra hans eldste visdom.
That he might bind his princes at his pleasure; and teach his ancients wisdom.
23 Og Israel kom til Egyptarland, og Jakob budde som gjest i Khams land.
Then came Israel into Egypt, and Jacob sojourned in the land of Ham.
24 Og han let folket sitt aukast mykje og gjorde det sterkare enn fiendarne.
And he increased his people greatly, and made them stronger than their adversaries.
25 Deira hjarto vende han um, so dei hata hans folk og lagde løynderåder upp mot hans tenarar.
He turned their heart to hate his people, to deal subtilely with his servants.
26 Han sende Moses, sin tenar, Aron som han hadde valt ut.
He sent Moses his servant, Aaron also whom he had made choice of.
27 Dei gjorde hans teikn imillom deim og under i Khams land.
They displayed among them his effective signs, and wonders in the land of Ham.
28 Han sende myrker og gjorde det myrkt, og dei var ikkje ulyduge imot hans ord.
He sent darkness, and made it dark; and they rebelled not against his word.
29 Han gjorde vatni deira til blod, og han drap deira fiskar.
He changed their waters into blood, and slew their fish.
30 Deira land kom til å kreka av froskar, jamvel i salarne til deira kongar.
Their land brought forth frogs in abundance, in the very chambers of their kings.
31 Han tala, og det kom flugesvermar og my i heile landet deira.
He spoke, and there came various wild beasts, lice also within all their boundary.
32 Han gav deim hagl for regn, logande eld i landet deira,
He gave them as their rain hail, and flames of fire in their land.
33 og han slo ned deira vintre og fiketre og braut trei sund i landet deira.
And he smote their vines and their fig-trees, and broke the trees within their boundary.
34 Han tala, og det kom engsprettor og grashoppar i uteljande mengd,
He spoke, and the locusts came, and crickets, and that without number;
35 og dei åt upp all grode i deira land, og dei åt upp frukti av marki deira.
And they ate up all the herbs in their land, and ate up the fruit of their ground.
36 Og han slo alt fyrstefødt i landet deira, fyrstegrøda av all deira kraft.
And he smote all the first-born in their land, the first of all their strength.
37 Og han førde deim ut med sylv og gull, og det var ingen i hans ætter som snåva.
And he brought them forth with silver and gold: and there was not one that stumbled among his tribes.
38 Egyptarland gledde seg då dei drog ut; for rædsla for deim hadde falle yver deim.
Egypt rejoiced when they departed; for the dread of them was fallen upon them.
39 Han breidde ut ei sky til skyggje og eld til å lysa um natti.
He spread out a cloud for a covering, and fire to give light in the night.
40 Dei kravde, og han let vaktlar koma, og med himmelbrød metta han deim.
The people asked, and he brought quails, and with heavenly bread he satisfied them.
41 Han opna berget og vatn rann ut, det gjekk som ei elv gjenom turrlendet.
He opened the rock, and the waters gushed out: they ran in the dry places like a river.
42 For han kom i hug sitt heilage ord, Abraham, sin tenar,
For he remembered his holy word given to Abraham his servant.
43 og han førde sitt folk ut med gleda, sine utvalde med fagnadrop,
And he brought forth his people with gladness, with joyful song his elect.
44 og han gav deim landi åt heidningarne, og folkeslags arbeid tok dei til eigedom,
And he gave them the lands of nations; and the labor of people they obtained as an inheritance:
45 at dei skulde halda hans fyresegner og taka vare på hans lover. Halleluja!
So that they might observe his statutes, and keep his laws. Hallelujah.
