Salmenes 10
1 Herre, kvi stend du so langt undan, held deg løynd dei tider me er i trengd?
Yahweh, (why are you far away [from us]?/it seems that you are far away [from us].) [RHQ] Why do you not pay attention when we have troubles [RHQ]?
2 Ved ovmodet hjå dei ugudlege illhugast den arme; lat deim vert fanga i dei meinråder dei hev tenkt upp!
People who are proud gladly cause poor people to suffer. So [cause what they do to others to happen to them]! May they be caught in the [same] traps that they set to catch others [MET]!
3 For den ugudlege rosar det hans sjæl lyster, og den vinnekjære byd farvel og spottar Herren.
They brag about the [evil] things that they want to do. They praise people who seize from others things that do not belong to them, and they curse you, Yahweh.
4 Den ugudlege set nosi høgt og segjer: «Han heimsøkjer ikkje. Det er ingen Gud til!» det er alle hans tankar.
Wicked people are very proud. As a result, they do not (seek help from/are not concerned about) God; they do not even think that God exists.
5 Hans vegar lukkast alle tider; langt burte frå honom i det høge er dine domar; alle sine motstandarar - deim blæs han åt.
But [it seems that] they succeed in everything that they do. They do not think that they will be condemned/punished for their deeds, and they (sneer at/make fun of) their enemies.
6 Han segjer i sitt hjarta: «Eg skal ikkje verta rikka, frå ættled til ættled kjem eg ikkje i ulukka.»
They think, “Nothing bad will happen to us! We will never have troubles!”
7 Hans munn er full av forbanning og av svik og vald; under hans tunga er tjon og ulukka.
When they talk [MTY], they are always cursing, lying, and threatening to harm others. They constantly say [MTY] evil things that show that they are ready to do cruel things to others.
8 Han ligg på lur ved gardarne, på løynlege stader myrder han den uskuldige, hans augo spæjar etter den verjelause.
They hide in villages, ready to (ambush/suddenly attack) and kill people who (are innocent/have done nothing wrong). They constantly search for people who will not be able to (resist/defend themselves) [when they are attacked].
9 Han lurer i løyne som løva i si kjørr, han lurer etter å gripa den arme; han grip den arme, med di han dreg honom i sitt garn.
They are like [MET] lions that crouch down and hide, waiting to pounce on their prey. They are like hunters that catch their prey with a net and then drag it away.
10 Han luter seg, duvar seg ned, og dei verjelause fell for hans sterke klør.
Just like helpless animals are crushed, people who cannot defend themselves are killed because wicked people are very strong.
11 Han segjer i sitt hjarta: «Gud hev gløymt det, han hev løynt sitt andlit, han ser det aldri.»
Wicked people say, “God will not pay any attention [to what we do]. His eyes are covered, so he never sees anything.”
12 Statt upp, Herre! Gud, lyft upp di hand, gløym ikkje dei arme!
Yahweh God, arise [and help us] Punish [IDM] those wicked people! And do not forget those who are suffering!
13 Kvi skal den ugudlege vanvyrda Gud og segja i sitt hjarta: «Du heimsøkjer ikkje?»
Wicked people revile you [RHQ] continually. They think, “God will never punish us!”
14 Du hev set det; for du skodar naud og hjartesorg til å leggja deim i di hand; til deg yvergjev den verjelause si sak, du er ein hjelpar for dei farlause.
But you see the trouble and the distress [that they cause]. People who are suffering expect that you will help them; and you help orphans, [also].
15 Slå armen sund på den ugudlege, og den vonde - heimsøk hans gudløysa, so du ikkje finn honom meir!
(Break the arms/Destroy the power) of wicked [DOU] people! Continue to pursue and punish them for the wicked things that they do, until they stop doing those things.
16 Herren er konge æveleg og alltid heidningarne er øydde ut or hans land.
Yahweh, you are our king forever, but [wicked] nations will disappear from the earth.
17 Herre, du hev høyrt ynskjet frå dei arme, du styrkjer deira hjarta, du vender øyra ditt til,
You have listened to afflicted/suffering people when they cry out to you. You hear them [when they pray], and you encourage [IDM] them.
18 so du gjev den farlause og nedtyngde sin rett. Ikkje lenger skal menneskjet som er av jordi halda fram med å skræma.
You show that orphans and oppressed people have not done things that are wrong, with the result that human beings will not cause people to be terrified any more.
