1 Son min, tak vare på ordi mine, og gøym mine bodord hjå deg!
O son my keep words my and commandments my you will treasure with you.
2 Tak vare på bodordi mine, so skal du liva, og på læra mi som din augnestein!
Keep commandments my and live and instruction my like [the] pupil of eyes your.
3 Bitt deim på fingrarne dine, skriv deim på hjartetavla!
Bind them on fingers your write them on [the] tablet of heart your.
4 Seg til visdomen: «Du er mi syster», og kalla vitet din ven,
Say to wisdom [are] sister my you and a relative to discernment you will call.
5 so dei kann deg vara frå annanmanns kona, frå ei framand kvinna med sleipe ord.

6 For gjenom vindauga mitt, gjenom rimarne glytte eg ut.

17 Eg hev skvett utyver mi lega myrra, aloe og kanel.
I have sprinkled bed my myrrh aloes and cinnamon.
18 Kom til ein kjærleiks rus alt til morgons, lat oss hyggja oss saman i elskhug!
Come! let us take our fill of love until the morning let us delight ourselves with love.
19 For mannen er ikkje heime, han er på ferd langt burte,
For not the husband [is] in house his he has gone on a journey from a distance.

24 Og no, søner, høyr på meg, og lyd på det munnen min talar!
And therefore O children listen to me and be attentive to [the] words of mouth my.
25 Ei vende du hjarta til hennar vegar, vimra ikkje på hennar stigar!

26 For mange med ulivssår hev ho felt, og stort er talet på deim ho hev drepe.
