1 Rosa deg ikkje av morgondagen, for du veit ikkje kva ein dag ber i fang.
May not you boast in a day tomorrow for not you know what? will it bring forth a day.
2 Lat ein annan rosa deg; ikkje din eigen munn, ein framand og ei dine eigne lippor!
May he praise you a stranger and not own mouth your a foreigner and may not own lips your.
3 Stein er tung, og sand veg mykje, men tyngre enn båe er dåreharm.
[the] heaviness of A stone and [the] weight of sand and [the] provocation of a fool [is] heavy more than both of them.
4 Sinne er fælslegt, og vreide ein flaum, men kven kann standa seg mot åbryskap?
[the] cruelty of Rage and [the] flood of anger and who? will he stand before jealousy.
5 Betre er openberrleg refsing enn kjærleik som held seg duld.

6 Trugne er slag av venehand, og mange er uvens kyssar.

8 Som ein fugl som rømer frå reiret sitt, er ein mann som rømer frå heimen sin.

9 Olje og røykjelse hjarta gled, og søte venar-ord frå rådvis sjæl.
Oil and perfume it makes glad a heart and [the] sweetness of friend his more than [the] counsel of a person.
10 Slepp ikkje frå deg venen din og far din’s ven, so du lyt heim til bror din når du er i naud! Ein granne nær attmed er betre enn ein bror langt burte.
Friend your (and [the] neighbor of *Q(K)*) father your may not you forsake and [the] house of brother your may not you go on [the] day of calamity your [is] good a neighbor near more than a brother far away.
11 Vert vis, min son, og gled mitt hjarta, so eg kann svara den som spottar meg!
Be wise O son my and make glad heart my so let me bring back [one who] taunts me a word.

14 Den som høgmælt signar sin ven um morgonen tidleg, han skal få det tilrekna som ei forbanning.

21 Diglen røyner sylvet og omnen gullet, og ein mann vert røynd av sin ros.
A crucible for silver and a smelting furnace for gold and a person to [the] mouth of praise his.
22 Um du støyte uvitingen i mortelen med støytaren i hop med gryn, so vilde ikkje vitløysa vika ifrå han.
If you will pound the fool - in mortar in among the grain with the pestle not it will depart from with him foolishness his.
23 God greide lyt du hava på koss sauerne dine ser ut, og agta vel på buskapen din!
Certainly you will know [the] face of flock your set heart your to [the] herds.
24 For velstand varer ikkje æveleg, og ikkje ei kruna frå ætt til ætt.
For not [is] for ever wealth and if a crown to a generation (and a generation. *Q(K)*)
25 Men er høyet burte og håi kjem att, og fjellgras vert sanka i hop,
It disappears grass and it appears grass and they are gathered [the] vegetation of [the] mountains.
26 då hev du lamb til klæde, og bukkar til å kjøpa deg åker for,
Lambs [are] for clothing your and [the] price of a field goats.
27 og geitemjølk nok til mat for deg, til mat for huset ditt og til livsupphald for gjentorne dine.
And a sufficiency of - [the] milk of goats for food your for [the] food of household your and life of maids your.
