4 Mosebok 26
1 Då sotti var yver, tala Herren so til Moses og Eleazar, son åt Aron, øvstepresten:
After the blood of the guilty was shed, the Lord said to Moses, and to Eleazar the son of Aaron the priest:
2 «Tak tal på heile Israels-lyden, ættgrein for ættgrein, alle dei våpnføre i Israel som hev fyllt tjuge år!»
“Number the entire sum of the sons of Israel, from twenty years and above, by their houses and kinships, all who are able to go forth to war.”
3 So tala Moses og Eleazar, øvstepresten, åt deim på Moabmoarne ved Jordan, midt for Jeriko, og sagde:
And so, Moses and Eleazar the priest, who were in the plains of Moab, above the Jordan, opposite Jericho, spoke to those who were
4 «Stig fram, alle menner som hev fyllt tjuge år!» - soleis som Herren hadde sagt med Moses. Israels-sønerne som for frå Egyptarland, det var.
from twenty years and above, just as the Lord had commanded. And this is their number:

and Hezron, from whom is the family of the Hezronites; and Carmi, from whom is the family of the Carmites.
7 Dette var Rubens-ætterne, og av deim var det tri og fyrti tusund og sju hundrad og tretti mann som vart innskrivne i manntalet.
These are the families of the stock of Ruben, whose number was found to be forty-three thousand and seven hundred thirty.

The son of Phallu: Eliab;
9 Og borni åt Eliab heitte Nemuel og Datan og Abiram. Men Datan og Abiram, det var dei same som var valde til folketinget, og var med og yppa strid mot Moses og Aron den gongen Korah og flokken hans sette seg upp mot Herren,
his sons, Nemuel and Dathan and Abiram. These are Dathan and Abiram, the leaders of the people, who rose up against Moses and Aaron in the sedition at Korah, when they rebelled against the Lord.
10 og jordi let upp gapet sitt og gløypte både deim og Korah, og elden gjorde ende på dei tvo hundrad og femti mennerne, so heile flokken umkomst og vart til eit varsl.
And the earth, opening its mouth, devoured Korah, with many others dying, when the fire burned two hundred fifty men. And a great miracle was wrought,
11 Men sønerne åt Korah miste ikkje livet.
so that, when Korah perished, his sons did not perish.
12 Simeons-sønerne, og det var, etter ætterne deira: Nemuelitarne, ætti etter Nemuel, jaminitarne, ætti etter Jamin, jakinitarne, ætti etter Jakin,
The sons of Simeon, by their kinships: Nemuel, from him is the family of the Nemuelites; Jamin, from him is the family of the Jaminites; Jachin, from him is the family of the Jachinites;
13 zerahitarne, ætti etter Zerah, sa’ulitarne, ætti etter Sa’ul.
Sohar, from him is the family of the Soharites; Shaul, from him is the family of the Shaulites.
14 Dette var Simeons-ætterne, tvo og tjuge tusund og tvo hundrad mann.
These are the families of the stock of Simeon, whose entire number was twenty-two thousand two hundred.
15 Gads-sønerne, og det var, etter ætterne deira: Sefonitarne, ætti etter Sefon, haggitarne, ætti etter Haggi, sunitarne, ætti etter Suni,
The sons of Gad, by their kinships: Zephon, from him is the family of the Zephonites; Haggi, from him is the family of the Haggites; Shuni, from him is the family of the Shunites;
16 oznitarne, ætti etter Ozni, eritarne, ætti etter Eri,
Ozni, from him is the family of the Oznites; Eri, from him is the family of the Erites;
17 aroditarne, ætti etter Arod, arelitarne, ætti etter Areli.
Arod, from him is the family of the Arodites; Areli, from him is the family of the Arelites.
18 Dette var Gads-ætterne; dei var etter manntalet fyrti tusund og fem hundrad mann.
These are the families of Gad, whose entire number was forty thousand five hundred.
19 Av borni åt Juda døydde tvo i Kana’ans-landet; dei heitte Er og Onan.
The sons of Judah: Er and Onan, who both died in the land of Canaan.
20 Dei hine Juda-sønerne det var, etter ætterne deira: Selanitarne, ætti etter Sela, parsitarne, ætti etter Peres, zerahitarne, ætti etter Zerah.
And these were the sons of Judah, by their kinships: Shelah, from whom is the family of the Shelahites; Perez, from whom is the family of the Perezites; Zerah, from whom is the family of the Zerahites.
21 Og Peres-sønerne det var, etter ætterne deira: Hesronitarne, ætti etter Hesron, hamulitarne, ætti etter Hamul.
Moreover, the sons of Phares were: Hezron, from whom is the family of the Hezronites; and Hamul, from whom is the family of the Hamulites.
22 Dette var Juda-ætterne. Av deim vart seks og sytti tusund og fem hundrad mann skrivne i rullorne.
These are the families of Judah, whose entire number was seventy-six thousand five hundred.
23 Issakars-sønerne, og det var, etter ætterne deira: Tola’itarne, ætti etter Tola, punitarne, ætti etter Puvva,
The sons of Issachar, by their kinships: Tola from whom is the family of the Tolaites; Puvah, from whom is the family of the Puvahites;
24 jasubitarne, ætti etter Jasub, simronitarne, ætti etter Simron.
Jashub, from whom is the family of the Jashubites; Shimron, from whom is the family of the Shimronites.
25 Dette var Issakars-ætterne. Av deim var det fire og seksti tusund og tri hundrad mann som vart mynstra.
These are the kinships of Issachar, whose number was sixty-four thousand three hundred.
26 Sebulons-sønerne, og det var, etter ætterne deira: Sarditarne, ætti etter Sered, elonitarne, ætti etter Elon, jahle’elitarne, ætti etter Jahle’el.
The sons of Zebulon by their kinships: Sered, from whom is the family of the Seredites; Elon, from whom is the family of the Elonites; Jahleel, from whom is the family of the Jahleelites.
27 Dette var Sebulons-ætterne. Av deim vart det mynstra seksti tusund og fem hundrad mann.
These are the kinships of Zebulun, whose number was sixty thousand five hundred.
28 Sønerne åt Josef med ætterne sine var Manasse og Efraim.
The sons of Joseph by their kinships: Manasseh and Ephraim.
29 Manasse-sønerne det var: Makiritarne, ætti etter Makir. Makir fekk sonen Gilead; frå honom var gileaditarne ætta.
From Manasseh was born Machir, from whom is the family of the Machirites. Machir conceived Gilead, from whom is the family of the Gileadites.
30 Gileads-sønerne det var: I’ezritarne, ætti etter I’ezer, helkitarne, ætti etter Helek,
Gilead had sons: Jezer, from whom is the family of the Jezerites; and Helek, from whom is the family of the Helekites;
31 asrielitarne, ætti etter Asriel, sikmitarne, ætti etter Sekem,
and Asriel, from whom is the family of the Asrielites; and Shechem, from whom is the family of the Shechemites;
32 semida’itarne, ætti etter Semida, hefritarne, ætti etter Hefer.
and Shemida, from whom is the family of the Shemidaites; and Hepher, from whom is the family of the Hepherites.
33 Men Selofhad, son åt Hefer, hadde ingi søner, berre døtter, og namni på døtterne hans var Mahla og Noa og Hogla og Milka og Tirsa.
Now Hepher was the father of Zelophehad, who had no sons, but only daughters, whose names are these: Mahlah, and Noa, and Hoglah, and Milcah, and Tirzah.
34 Dette var Manasse-ætterne. Av deim var det tvo og femti tusund og sju hundrad mann som vart innskrivne.
These are the families of Manasseh, and their number was fifty-two thousand seven hundred.
35 Efraims-sønerne det var, etter ætterne deira: Sutalhitarne, ætti etter Sutelah, bakritarne, ætti etter Beker, tahanitarne, ætti etter Tahan.
Now the sons of Ephraim by their kinships were these: Shuthelah, from whom is the family of the Shuthelahites; Becher, from whom is the family of the Becherites; Tahan, from whom is the family of the Tahanites.
36 Og Sutelah-sønerne det var: Eranitarne, ætti etter Eran.
Furthermore, the son of Shuthelah was Eran, from whom is the family of the Eranites.
37 Dette var Efraims-ætterne; dei var tvo og tretti tusund og fem hundrad mann som vart skrivne. Det var Josefs-sønerne etter ætterne deira.
These are the kinships of the sons of Ephraim, whose number was thirty-two thousand five hundred.
38 Benjamins-sønerne, og det var, etter ætterne deira: Balitarne, ætti etter Bela, asbelitarne, ætti etter Asbel, ahiramitarne, ætti etter Ahiram,
These are the sons of Joseph by their families: the sons of Benjamin in their kinships: Bela, from whom is the family of the Belaites; Ashbel, from whom is the family of the Ashbelites; Ahiram, from whom is the family of the Ahiramites;
39 sufamitarne, ætti etter Sefufam, hufamitarne, ætti etter Hufam.
Shupham, from whom is the family of the Shuphamites; Hupham, from whom is the family of the Huphamites.
40 Og Bela-sønerne var: Arditarne og na’amanitarne; ætterne etter Ard og Na’aman.
The sons of Bela: Arad and Naaman. From Arad, the family of the Aradites; from Naaman, the family of the Naamanites.
41 Dette var Benjamins-sønerne etter ætterne deira; av deim var det fem og fyrti tusund og seks hundrad mann som stod i manntalet.
These are the sons of Benjamin by their kinships, whose number was forty-five thousand six hundred.
42 Dans-sønerne det var, etter ætterne deira: Suhamitarne, ætti etter Suham. Dette var Dans-ætterne etter ættetavla deira;
The sons of Dan by their kinships: Shuham, from whom is the family of the Shuhamites. These are the kinships of Dan by their families.
43 Suhamit-ætterne var etter manntalet i alt fire og seksti tusund og fire hundrad mann.
All these were Shuhamites, whose number was sixty-four thousand four hundred.
44 Assers-sønerne, og det var, etter ætterne deira: Jimnitarne, ætti etter Jimna, jisvitarne, ætti etter Jisvi, beri’itarne, ætti etter Beria.
The sons of Asher by their kinships: Imnah, from whom is the family of the Imnahites; Ishvi, from whom is the family of the Ishvites; Beriah, from whom is the family of the Beriahites.
45 Og Beria-sønerne det var: Hebritarne, ætti etter Heber, malkielitarne, ætti etter Malkiel.
The sons of Beriah: Heber, from whom is the family of the Heberites; and Malchiel, from whom is the family of the Malchielites.
46 Dotter åt Asser heitte Serah.
Now the name of the daughter of Asher was Serah.

These are the kinships of the sons of Asher, and their number was fifty-three thousand four hundred.
48 Naftali-sønerne, og det var, etter ætterne deira: Jahse’elitarne, ætti etter Jahse’el, gunitarne, ætti etter Guni,
The sons of Naphtali by their kinships: Jahzeel, from whom is the family of the Jahzeelites; Guni, from whom is the family of the Gunites;
49 jisritarne, ætti etter Jeser, sillemitarne, ætti etter Sillem.
Jezer, from whom is the family of the Jezerites; Shillem, from whom is the family of the Shillemites.
50 Dette var Naftali-ætterne etter ættetalet deira; av deim vart det innskrive fem og fyrti tusund og fire hundrad mann.
These are the kinships of the sons of Naphtali by their families, whose number was forty-five thousand four hundred.
51 So mange var det som vart mynstra av Israels-sønerne, seks hundrad og eitt tusund og sju hundrad og tretti mann.
This is the sum of the sons of Israel, who were counted: six hundred thousand and one thousand seven hundred thirty.
52 Og Herren sagde til Moses:
And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying:
53 «Åt desse skal landet skiftast ut til eigedom, etter folketalet.
“The land shall be divided to these, as their possessions, according to the number of their names.
54 Den som hev mykje folk, skal du gjeva mykje land, og den som hev lite folk mindre; kvar ætt skal få so mykje land som han hev våpnføre menner.
To the greater number you shall give a greater portion, and to the lesser number, a lesser portion. To each one, just as they have now been counted, a possession shall be delivered.
55 Landet skal skiftast på den måten at dei dreg strå um bygderne, og alle som hev same ættarnamnet, skal få sin eigedom i same bygdelaget.
Yet only in so far as the land is divided by lot to a tribe and to families.
56 Kvar skal få det som fell på honom etter strået, men den som hev mykje folk, skal få meir enn den som hev lite; soleis skal landet bytast millom deim.»
Whatever the lot will happen to be, it shall be accepted, either by the greater, or by the lesser.
57 Levi-ætterne det var etter manntalet: Gersonitarne, ætti etter Gerson, kahatitarne, ætti etter Kahat, meraritarne, ætti etter Merari.
Likewise, this is the number of the sons of Levi by their families: Gershon, from whom is the family of the Gershonites; Kohath, from whom is the family of the Kohathites; Merari, from whom is the family of the Merarites.
58 Desse ættgreinerne var det i Levi-ætti: Libnitarne, hebronitarne, mahlitarne, musitarne, korahitarne. Kahat var far åt Amram.
These are the families of Levi: The family of Libni, the family of Hebroni, the family of Mahli, the family of Mushi, the family of Korah. Yet truly, Kohath conceived Amram,
59 Kona åt Amram heitte Jokebed; ho var dotter åt Levi og fødd i Egyptarland. Amram fekk med henne sønerne Aron og Moses, og Mirjam, syster deira.
who had a wife, Jochebed, the daughter of Levi, who was born to him in Egypt. She bore, to her husband Amram: sons, Aaron and Moses, as well as their sister, Miriam.
60 Og Aron fekk sønerne Nadab og Abihu, Eleazar og Itamar.
From Aaron were born Nadab and Abihu, and Eleazar and Ithamar.
61 Men Nadab og Abihu døydde då dei bar uvigd eld fram for Herrens åsyn.
Of these, Nadab and Abihu died, when they had offered strange fire before the Lord.
62 Av levitarne vart tri og tjuge tusund innskrivne i manntalet, alle karfolk som var yver ein månad gamle. Dei vart ikkje talde saman med dei hine Israels-borni, av di dei ikkje fekk nokon odel millom deim.
And these were all who were numbered: twenty-three thousand of the male gender, from one month and above. For they were not counted among the sons of Israel, neither was a possession given to them with the others.
63 Dette var dei som Moses og Eleazer, øvstepresten, talde då dei mynstra Israels-sønerne på Moabmoarne ved Jordan, midt for Jeriko.
This is the number of the sons of Israel, who were enrolled by Moses and by Eleazar the priest, in the plains of Moab, above the Jordan, opposite Jericho.
64 Millom deim fanst det ingen som Moses og Aron, øvstepresten, hadde skrive inn i manntalet då dei mynstra Israels-sønerne i Sinaiheidi.
Among these, not one of them was numbered before, by Moses and Aaron in the desert of Sinai.
65 For Herren hadde sagt at dei skulde døy i øydemarki, og no var det ingen annan att enn Kaleb, son åt Jefunne, og Josva, son åt Nun.
For the Lord had foretold that all would die in the wilderness. And not one of them remained, except Caleb the son of Jephunneh, and Joshua the son of Nun.
