4 Mosebok 16
1 Korah, son åt Jishar Kahatsson av Levi-ætti, og Datan og Abiram, sønerne hans Eliab, og On Peletsson av Rubens-ætti tok til å yppa seg mot Moses,
Nowe Korah the sonne of Izhar, the sonne of Kohath, the sonne of Leui went apart with Dathan, and Abiram the sonnes of Eliab, and On the sonne of Peleth, the sonnes of Reuben:
2 og saman med dei tvo hundrad og femti av dei øvste i Israels-lyden, som var kåra til tingmenner, og hadde eit godt namn.
And they rose vp against Moses, with certaine of the children of Israel, two hundreth and fiftie captaines of the assemblie, famous in the Congregation, and men of renoume,
3 Dei slo seg i hop mot Moses og Aron, og sagde til deim: «No lyt det vera nok! Heile lyden er heilag, alle saman, og Herren er midt imillom deim; kvi vil då de all tid halda dykk gildare enn Herrens lyd?»
Who gathered themselues together against Moses, and against Aaron, and sayde vnto them, Ye take too much vpon you, seeing all the Congregation is holie, euery one of them, and the Lord is among them: wherfore then lift ye your selues aboue the Congregation of the Lord?
4 Då Moses høyrde det, kasta han seg ned på jordi.
But when Moses heard it, hee fell vpon his face,
5 Og han tala til Korah og heile flokken hans, og sagde: «I morgon vil Herren syna kven som er hans folk, og kven som er heilag og kann koma inn til honom, og dei som han då vel, skal få koma inn til honom.
And spake to Korah and vnto all his companie, saying, To morow the Lord will shew who is his, and who is holy, and who ought to approche neere vnto him: and whom he hath chosen, hee will cause to come neere to him.
6 Gjer no so, du Korah og heile flokken din: Tak i morgon med dykk glodfat,
This doe therefore, Take you censers, both Korah, and all his companie,
7 og hav eld i deim, og legg røykjelse på elden for Herrens åsyn, og den som Herren vel, han skal vera heilag. Lat so det vera nok, de Levi-søner!»
And put fire therein, and put incense in the before the Lord to morowe: and the man whome the Lord doeth chuse, the same shalbe holie: ye take too much vpon you, ye sonnes of Leui.
8 Og endå sagde Moses til Korah: «Høyr no, de Levi-søner!
Againe Moses saide vnto Korah, Heare, I pray you, ye sonnes of Leui.
9 Er de ikkje nøgde med at Israels Gud hev skilt dykk ut frå Israels-lyden, so de skulde vera næmare honom og greida arbeidet i Herrens hus, og ganga lyden til handa?
Seemeth it a small thing vnto you that the God of Israel hath separated you from the multitude of Israel, to take you neere to himselfe, to doe the seruice of the Tabernacle of the Lord, and to stand before the Congregation and to minister vnto them?
10 Han hev teke deg og alle brørne dine, Levi-sønerne, innåt seg, og no trår de etter preste-embættet og?
He hath also taken thee to him, and all thy brethren the sonnes of Leui with thee, and seeke ye the office of the Priest also?
11 Det er mot Herren de hev slege dykk i hop, du og heile flokken din; for kva er Aron? Kann det vera verdt å setja seg upp i mot honom?»
For which cause, thou, and all thy companie are gathered together against the Lord: and what is Aaron, that ye murmure against him?
12 So sende Moses bod etter Datan og Abiram, sønerne hans Eliab; men dei svara: «Me kjem ikkje!
And Moses sent to call Dathan, and Abiram the sonnes of Eliab: who answered, We will not come vp.
13 Er det ikkje nok at du lokka oss burt frå eit land som fløymer med mjølk og honning, so me skulde døy i øydemarki? Vil du no attpå råda og rikja yver oss?
Is it a small thing that thou hast brought vs out of a lande that floweth with milke and honie, to kill vs in the wildernesse, except thou make thy selfe lord and ruler ouer vs also?
14 Ikkje heller hev du ført oss til eit land som fløymer med mjølk og honning, og gjeve oss åkrar og aldehagar til eiga! Trur du då du kann synkverva desse mennerne? Me kjem ikkje!»
Also thou hast not brought vs vnto a land that floweth with milke and honie, neither giuen vs inheritance of fieldes and vineyardes: wilt thou put out the eyes of these men? we will not come vp.
15 Då vart Moses brennande harm, og han sagde til Herren: «Ansa ikkje offeret deira! Ikkje so mykje som eit asen hev eg teke frå deim, og ingen av deim hev eg gjort noko til meins.»
Then Moses waxed verie angry, and saide vnto the Lord, Looke not vnto their offring: I haue not taken so much as an asse from them, neither haue I hurt any of them.
16 So sagde han til Korah: «Møt no fram for Herrens åsyn i morgon, du og heile flokken din! Aron skal og møta fram,
And Moses said vnto Korah, Bee thou and al thy companie before the Lord: both thou, they, and Aaron to morowe:
17 og de skal taka kvar sitt glodfat og leggja røykjelse på deim, og bera deim fram for Herrens åsyn, tvo hundrad og femti glodfat, og du og Aron skal og taka kvar sitt glodfat.»
And take euery man his censor, and put incense in them, and bring ye euery man his censor before the Lord, two hundreth and fiftie censors: thou also and Aaron, euery one his censor.
18 So tok dei kvar sitt glodfat, og hadde eld i deim, og lagde røykjelse på og stod i møtetjelddøri, og det same gjorde Moses og Aron;
So they tooke euery man his censor, and put fire in them, and laide incense thereon, and stoode in the doore of the Tabernacle of the Congregation with Moses and Aaron.
19 og Korah samla heile lyden imot dei framanfor møtetjelddøri. Då synte Herrens herlegdom seg for heile lyden.
And Korah gathered all the multitude against them vnto the doore of the Tabernacle of the Congregation: then the glorie of the Lord appeared vnto all the Congregation.
20 Og Herren tala til Moses og Aron, og sagde:
And the Lord spake vnto Moses and to Aaron, saying,
21 «Skil dykk frå denne lyden, so skal eg gjera ende på deim, so fort som ein blunkar med auga.»
Separate your selues from among this Cogregation, that I may consume them at once.
22 Men dei kasta seg på kne, og sagde: «Allvelduge Gud, du som råder yver alle manneliv, vert du vill på heile lyden, for di ein mann syndar?»
And they fell vpon their faces and saide, O God the God of the spirits, of all fleshe, hath not one man onely sinned, and wilt thou bee wroth with all the Congregation?
23 Og Herren svara Moses:
And the Lord spake vnto Moses, saying,
24 «Seg til folket at dei skal hava seg burt frå bustaden åt Korah og Datan og Abiram og frå alt som derikring er!»
Speake vnto the Congregation and say, Get you away from about the Tabernacle of Korah, Dathan and Abiram.
25 So reiste Moses seg upp og gjekk burt til Datan og Abiram, og Israels hovdingar fylgde honom.
Then Moses rose vp, and went vnto Dathan and Abiram, and the Elders of Israel followed him.
26 Og han tala til folket, og sagde: «Gakk burt frå husi åt desse gudlause mennerne, og kom ikkje innåt noko som høyrer deim til; elles kjem de og til å lida for alle synderne deira!»
And he spake vnto the Congregation, saying, Depart, I pray you, from the tentes of these wicked men, and touche nothing of theirs, lest ye perish in all their sinnes.
27 Då flutte dei seg burt frå buderne åt Korah og Datan og Abiram og alt som var ikring um. Men Datan og Abiram kom ut og stod i buddøri med konorne sine og borni, både store og små.
So they gate them away from the Tabernacle of Korah, Dathan and Abiram on euerie side: and Dathan, and Abiram came out and stood in the doore of their tentes with their wiues, and their sonnes, and their little children.
28 Og Moses sagde: «Dette skal de hava til merke på at Herren hev sendt meg til å gjera alle desse verki, og at det ikkje er av meg sjølv eg gjer det:
And Moses saide, Hereby yee shall knowe that the Lord hath sent me to do all these works: for I haue not done them of mine owne minde.
29 dersom desse døyr på same vis som anna folk, og møter lagnaden som alle andre menneskje, so hev Herren ikkje sendt meg;
If these men die the common death of all men, or if they be visited after the visitation of all men, the Lord hath not sent me.
30 men dersom Herren let henda noko som aldri fyrr hev hendt, dersom jordi let upp gapet sitt, og gløyper deim og alt som deira er, so dei fer livande ned i helheimen, so veit de at desse mennerne hev spotta Herren.» (Sheol h7585)
But if the Lord make a newe thing, and the earth open her mouth, and swallowe them vp with all that they haue, and they goe downe quicke into ye pit, then ye shall vnderstand that these men haue prouoked the Lord. (Sheol h7585)
31 Ikkje fyrr hadde han sagt dei ordi, so rivna grunnen under føterne deira;
And assoone as he had made an ende of speaking all these wordes, euen the ground claue asunder that was vnder them,
32 jordi let upp gapet sitt, og gløypte deim og husi deira og alt folket hans Korah og alt det dei åtte.
And the earth opened her mouth, and swallowed them vp, with their families, and all the men that were with Korah, and all their goods.
33 Dei for livande ned i helheimen med alt som deira var, jordi gøymde deim, og dei kvarv burt or lyden. (Sheol h7585)
So they and all that they had, went down aliue into the pit, and the earth couered them: so they perished from among the Congregation. (Sheol h7585)
34 Og heile Israel, som stod rundt ikring, rømde då dei høyrde skriket deira; dei var rædde jordi skulde gløypa deim med.
And all Israel that were about them, fled at the crie of them: for they said, Let vs flee, least the earth swalow vs vp.
35 So for det eld ut frå Herren, og brende upp dei tvo hundrad og femti mennerne som hadde bore fram røykjelse.
But there came out a fire from the Lord, and consumed the two hundreth and fiftie men that offred the incense.
36 Då tala Herren til Moses, og sagde:
And the Lord spake vnto Moses, saying,
37 «Seg til Eleazar, son åt Aron, øvstepresten, at han skal taka upp glodfati som ligg att der elden hev fare, og strå glørne vidt utyver! For heilage er dei,
Speake vnto Eleazar, the sonne of Aaron the Priest, that he take vp the censers out of the burning, and scatter the fire beyond the altar: for they are halowed,
38 glodfati åt desse mennerne som laut lata livet for syndi si; de skal hamra dei ut til plator, og klæda altaret med deim. Dei hev vorte framborne for Herrens åsyn; difor er dei heilage, og skal vera eit varsl for Israels-borni.»
The censers, I say, of these sinners, that destroyed themselues: and let them make of them broade plates for a couering of the Altar: for they offered them before the Lord, therefore they shalbe holy, and they shall be a signe vnto the children of Israel.
39 Og Eleazar, presten, gjorde som Moses hadde sagt honom frå Herren: han tok koparfati som dei hadde bore fram dei mennerne som brann upp, og smedarne hamra plator av deim til å klæda altaret med,
Then Eleazar the Priest tooke the brasen censers, which they, that were burnt, had offred, and made broade plates of them for a couering of the Altar.
40 so Israels-borni skulde koma i hug at ingen framand, ingen som ikkje er av Arons ætt, må ganga fram og brenna røykjelse for Herrens åsyn; elles kjem han til å fara same ferdi som Korah og hans flokk.
It is a remembrance vnto the children of Israel, that no stranger which is not of the seede of Aaron, come neere to offer incense before the Lord, that he be not like Korah and his company, as the Lord said to him by the hand of Moses.
41 Dagen etter mukka heile Israels-lyden mot Moses og Aron, og sagde: «Det er de som hev drepe Herrens folk!»
But on the morowe all the multitude of the children of Israel murmured against Moses and against Aaron, saying, Ye haue killed the people of the Lord.
42 og ålmugen tok til å samla seg mot deim. Moses og Aron vende seg mot møtetjeldet; då såg dei at skyi låg yver tjeldet, og herlegdomen åt Herren skein fram.
And when the Congregation was gathered against Moses and against Aaron, then they turned their faces toward the Tabernacle of the Congregation: and beholde, the cloude couered it, and the glory of the Lord appeared.
43 So gjekk dei fram for møtetjeldet,
Then Moses and Aaron were come before the Tabernacle of the Congregation.
44 Og Herren tala til Moses, og sagde:
And the Lord spake vnto Moses, saying,
45 «Sjå til å koma dykk burt frå denne hopen, so skal eg tyna dei i ein augneblink!» Då kasta dei seg på kne,
Get you vp from among this Congregation: for I wil consume them quickly: then they fell vpon their faces.
46 og Moses sagde til Aron: «Tak glodfatet; legg i gløder frå altaret, og hav røykjelse uppå, og skunda deg so burt til lyden med det, og gjer soning for deim! For Herren hev slept harmen sin laus - sotti er komi!»
And Moses said vnto Aaron, Take the censer and put fire therein of the Altar, and put therein incense, and goe quickly vnto the Congregation, and make an atonement for them: for there is wrath gone out from the Lord: the plague is begunne.
47 Aron gjorde som Moses sagde, og tok glodfatet og sprang midt inn i flokken; sotti hadde då alt teke til å herja millom folket. So lagde han røykjelsen på gløderne, og bad ei soningsbøn for folket,
Then Aaron tooke as Moses commanded him, and ranne into the middes of the Congregation, and beholde, the plague was begun among the people, and hee put in incense, and made an atonement for the people.
48 med han stod der millom daude og livande. Då stana sotti;
And when hee stoode betweene the dead, and them that were aliue, the plague was stayed.
49 men det var fjortan tusund og sju hundrad som døydde i den sotti, umfram deim som miste livet for Korahs skuld.
So they died of this plague fourtene thousande and seuen hundreth, beside them that dyed in the conspiracie of Korah.
50 Då sotti hadde gjeve seg, gjekk Aron attende til Moses, til møtetjelddøri.
And Aaron went againe vnto Moses before the doore of the Tabernacle of the Congregation, and the plague was stayed.
