Matteus 27
1 Det var morgon vorte då alle dei øvste prestarne og styresmennerne sagde daudedomen yver Jesus.
When the morning was come, all the chiefe Priests, and the elders of the people tooke counsell against Iesus, to put him to death,
2 So batt dei honom og førde honom burt og gav honom yver til Pilatus, landshovdingen.
And led him away bounde, and deliuered him vnto Pontius Pilate the gouernour.
3 Då Judas, svikaren, såg at dei hadde dømt Jesus frå livet, angra han på det han hadde gjort. Han bar dei tretti sylvdalarne attende til dei øvste prestarne og styresmennerne og sagde:
Then when Iudas which betraied him, sawe that hee was condemned, hee repented himselfe, and brought againe the thirtie pieces of siluer to the chiefe Priestes, and Elders,
4 «Eg hev synda! Det var skuldlaust blod eg gav yver til dykk.» «Kva skil det oss? Det vert di eigi sak, » svara dei.
Saying, I haue sinned, betraying the innocent bloud. But they sayde, What is that to vs? see thou to it.
5 Då kasta han pengarne frå seg i templet og tok ut; og sidan gjekk han burt og hengde seg upp.
And when hee had cast downe the siluer pieces in the Temple, hee departed, and went, and hanged himselfe.
6 Dei øvste prestarne tok pengarne og sagde: «Det er’kje rett å leggja deim i tempelkista; for det er blodpengar.»
And the chiefe Priestes tooke the siluer pieces, and sayde, It is not lawfull for vs to put them into the treasure, because it is the price of bloud.
7 So tok dei den rådi at dei for desse pengarne kjøpte Pottemakaråkeren til gravstad for framande.
And they tooke counsell, and bought with them a potters fielde, for the buriall of strangers.
8 Difor hev den åkeren vore kalla Blodåkeren alt til denne dag.
Wherefore that field is called, The field of bloud, vntill this day.
9 Då vart det sanna det som Jeremia, profeten, hev tala, når han segjer: «So tok dei desse tretti sylvdalarn’ - det var det verd dei hadde sett han i, han som dei verdsette for Israel -
(Then was fulfilled that which was spoken by Ieremias the Prophet, saying, And they tooke thirtie siluer pieces, ye price of him that was valued, whom they of ye children of Israel valued.
10 for Pottemakargården dei det gav, soleis som Herren hadde sagt meg til.»
And they gaue them for the potters fielde, as the Lord appointed me.)
11 So vart då Jesus førd fram for landshovdingen. Og landshovdingen spurde honom: «Er det du som er konge yver jødarne?» «Du segjer det sjølv, » sagde Jesus.
And Iesus stood before ye gouernour, and the gouernour asked him, saying, Art thou that King of the Iewes? Iesus said vnto him, Thou sayest it.
12 Men då dei øvste prestarne og styresmennerne kom med klagemåli sine, svara han ingen ting.
And when he was accused of the chiefe Priestes, and Elders, he answered nothing.
13 Då sagde Pilatus til honom: «Høyrer du ikkje alt det dei skuldar deg for?»
Then saide Pilate vnto him, Hearest thou not howe many things they lay against thee?
14 Men han svara honom ikkje på eit einaste ord, so landshovdingen undra seg storleg.
But he answered him not to one worde, in so much that the gouernour marueiled greatly.
15 Kvar høgtid hadde landshovdingen for vis å gjeva folket ein fange fri, kven dei vilde.
Nowe at the feast, the gouernour was wont to deliuer vnto the people a prisoner whom they would.
16 Den gongen hadde dei ein ordgjeten fange som heitte Barabbas.
And they had then a notable prisoner, called Barabbas.
17 Då dei no hadde samla seg, sagde Pilatus til deim: «Kven vil de eg skal gjeva dykk fri, Barabbas eller Jesus, han som dei kallar Messias?»
When they were then gathered together, Pilate said vnto the, Whether will ye that I let loose vnto you Barabbas, or Iesus which is called Christ?
18 For han visste at det var av ovund dei hadde gjeve Jesus yver til honom.
(For he knewe well, that for enuie they had deliuered him.
19 Og med han sat i domarsætet, sende kona hans bod til honom og sagde: «Du skal ikkje hava noko med saki mot denne rettferdige mannen! Eg hev drøymt so vondt i natt for hans skuld.»
Also when he was set downe vpon the iudgement seate, his wife sent to him, saying, Haue thou nothing to do with that iust man: for I haue suffered many things this day in a dreame by reason of him.)
20 Men dei øvste prestarne og styresmennerne talde folket til å beda Barabbas fri og lata Jesus drepast.
But the chiefe Priestes and the Elders had persuaded the people that they shoulde aske Barabbas, and should destroy Iesus.
21 Og då landshovdingen tok til ords att og spurde: «Kven av desse tvo vil de eg skal gjeva dykk fri?» svara dei: «Barabbas!»
Then the gouernour answered, and said vnto them, Whether of the twaine will ye that I let loose vnto you? And they said, Barabbas.
22 «Kva skal eg då gjera med Jesus, han som dei kallar Messias?» sagde han. Då svara deim alle: «Lat honom verta krossfest!»
Pilate said vnto them, What shall I do then with Iesus, which is called Christ? They all said to him, Let him be crucified.
23 «Kva vondt hev han då gjort?» sagde Pilatus. Men dei ropa berre sterkare og sterkare: «Lat honom verta krossfest!»
Then saide the gouernour, But what euill hath he done? Then they cryed the more, saying, Let him be crucified.
24 Då Pilatus såg at han ingen ting kunde gjera, men ståket heller vart verre, tok han vatn og tvo henderne sine midt for augo på folkehopen og sagde: «Eg hev ingi skuld i blodet åt denne rettferdige mannen. Dette lyt de svara for!»
When Pilate saw that he auailed nothing, but that more tumult was made, he tooke water and washed his hands before the multitude, saying, I am innocent of the blood of this iust man: looke you to it.
25 Då svara heile folket: «Blodet hans må koma yver oss og yver borni våre!»
Then answered all the people, and saide, His bloud be on vs, and on our children.
26 So gav han deim Barabbas fri, men Jesus let han piska, og gav honom yver til hermennerne sine, so dei skulde krossfesta honom.
Thus let he Barabbas loose vnto them, and scourged Iesus, and deliuered him to be crucified.
27 Hermennerne åt landshovdingen tok Jesus med seg inn i borgi og samla heile vakti kringum honom.
Then the souldiers of the gouernour tooke Iesus into the common hall, and gathered about him the whole band,
28 So klædde dei av honom, og hengde på honom ei skarlakskåpa,
And they stripped him, and put about him a skarlet robe,
29 og dei fletta ein krans av klunger og sette på hovudet hans, og gav honom ein røyrstav i høgre handi. Med so gjort, fall dei på kne for honom spotta honom og sagde: «Heil deg, jødekonge!»
And platted a crowne of thornes, and put it vpon his head, and a reede in his right hand, and bowed their knees before him, and mocked him, saying, God saue thee King of the Iewes,
30 So sputta dei på honom, og tok røyrstaven og slo honom i hovudet med,
And spitted vpon him, and tooke a reede, and smote him on the head.
31 og då dei hadde spotta honom det dei vilde, tok dei av honom kåpa og hadde på honom hans eigne klæde, og so førde dei honom burt og skulde krossfesta honom.
Thus when they had mocked him, they tooke the robe from him, and put his owne rayment on him, and led him away to crucifie him.
32 På vegen møtte dei ein mann frå Kyrene som heitte Simon. Honom nøydde dei til å bera krossen hans.
And as they came out, they found a man of Cyrene, named Simon: him they compelled to beare his crosse.
33 Då dei so kom til ein stad som heiter Golgata - det er det same som Skallestaden -
And when they came vnto the place called Golgotha, (that is to say, the place of dead mens skulles)
34 gav dei honom vin blanda med gall; men då han hadde smaka på det, vilde han ikkje drikka.
They gaue him vineger to drinke, mingled with gall: and when he had tasted thereof, he would not drinke.
35 So feste dei honom til krossen. Klædi hans bytte dei millom seg, og drog strå um deim,
And when they had crucified him, they parted his garments, and did cast lottes, that it might be fulfilled, which was spoken by the Prophet, They deuided my garments among them, and vpon my vesture did cast lottes.
36 og so vart dei sitjande der og heldt vakt yver honom.
And they sate, and watched him there.
37 Og uppyver hovudet hans hadde dei skrive klagemålet mot honom; det lydde so: Dette er Jesus, kongen yver jødarne.
They set vp also ouer his head his cause written, THIS IS IESVS THE KING OF THE IEVVES.
38 Saman med honom vart tvo røvarar krossfeste, ein på høgre og ein på vinstre sida.
And there were two theeues crucified with him, one on the right hand, and another on the left.
39 Dei som gjekk framum, hædde honom og riste på hovudet og sagde:
And they that passed by, reuiled him, wagging their heades,
40 «Du som riv ned templet og byggjer det upp att på tri dagar, hjelp deg no sjølv! Er du Guds Son, so stig ned av krossen!»
And saying, Thou that destroyest ye Temple, and buildest it in three dayes, saue thy selfe: if thou be ye Sonne of God, come downe from ye crosse.
41 Sameleis spotta dei honom, både dei øvste prestarne og dei skriftlærde og styresmennerne, og sagde:
Likewise also the hie Priests mocking him, with the Scribes, and Elders, and Pharises, said,
42 «Andre hev han hjelpt, seg sjølv kann han ikkje hjelpa! Han er konge i Israel! Lat honom no stiga ned av krossen, so skal me tru på honom.
He saued others, but he cannot saue him selfe: if he be ye King of Israel, let him now come downe from ye crosse, and we will beleeue in him.
43 Han leit på Gud; lat no Gud berga honom, dersom han bryr seg um honom! Han hev då sagt: «Eg er Guds Son!»»
He trusted in God, let him deliuer him nowe, if he will haue him: for he saide, I am the Sonne of God.
44 Jamvel røvarane som var krossfeste saman med honom, spotta på same visi.
The selfe same thing also ye theeues which were crucified with him, cast in his teeth.
45 Frå den sette timen vart det myrkt yver heile landet, alt til den niande timen.
Now from ye sixt houre was there darkenesse ouer all the land, vnto the ninth houre.
46 Og kring den niande timen ropa Jesus med høg røyst og sagde: «Eli, Eli, lama sabaktani!» Det er det same som: «Min Gud, min Gud, kvi hev du forlate meg?»
And about ye ninth houre Iesus cryed with a loud voyce, saying, Eli, Eli, lamasabachthani? that is, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?
47 Då sagde nokre av deim som stod der og høyrde det: «Han ropar på Elia.»
And some of them that stoode there, when they heard it, said, This man calleth Elias.
48 Og med det same sprang ein av deim fram og tok ein svamp og fyllte med vineddik og sette på ein tein, og let honom få drikka.
And straightway one of them ran, and tooke a spondge, and filled it with vineger, and put it on a reede, and gaue him to drinke.
49 Men dei hine sagde: «Venta! Lat oss sjå um Elia kjem og hjelper honom!»
Other said, Let be: let vs see, if Elias wil come and saue him.
50 Og Jesus ropa endå ein gong med høg røyst, og gav ut åndi.
Then Iesus cryed againe with a loude voyce, and yeelded vp the ghost.
51 Då rivna forhenget i templet midt i tvo, ovantil og heilt ned, og jordi skalv og bergi brast,
And behold, the vayle of the Temple was rent in twaine, from the top to the bottome, and the earth did quake, and the stones were cloue.
52 og graverne opna seg, og mange avlidne heilagmenne stod livs livande upp
And the graues did open themselues, and many bodies of the Saintes, which slept, arose,
53 og dei gjekk fram or graverne, og etter Jesus hadde stade upp att, kom dei inn i den heilage staden og synte seg for mange.
And came out of the graues after his resurrection, and went into the holy citie, and appeared vnto many.
54 Då hovudsmannen og dei som var med honom og heldt vakt yver Jesus, såg jordskjelven og alt det som hende, vart dei fulle av otte og sagde: «Dette var sanneleg Guds Son!»
When the Centurion, and they that were with him watching Iesus, saw the earthquake, and the thinges that were done, they feared greatly, saying, Truely this was the Sonne of God.
55 Det var og mange kvinnor der, som stod eit stykke undan og såg på; dei hadde fylgt Jesus frå Galilæa og tent honom.
And many women were there, beholding him a farre off, which had folowed Iesus from Galile, ministring vnto him.
56 Millom deim var Maria Magdalena, og Maria, mor åt Jakob og Josef, og mor åt Sebedæus-sønerne.
Among whom was Marie Magdalene, and Marie the mother of Iames, and Ioses, and the mother of Zebedeus sonnes.
57 Um kvelden kom det ein rik mann som heitte Josef, og var frå Arimatæa; han hadde og vorte ein læresvein åt Jesus.
And when the euen was come, there came a riche man of Arimathea, named Ioseph, who had also himselfe bene Iesus disciple.
58 Han gjekk til Pilatus og bad um han måtte få likamen åt Jesus; og Pilatus sende bod at dei skulde lata honom få han.
He went to Pilate, and asked ye body of Iesus. Then Pilate commanded ye body to be deliuered.
59 Då tok Josef likamen og sveipte honom inn i eit reint linty,
So Ioseph tooke the body, and wrapped it in a cleane linnen cloth,
60 og lagde honom i den nye gravi som han hadde hogge ut åt seg i berget. So velte han ein stor stein attfor gravopningi og gjekk burt.
And put it in his new tombe, which he had hewen out in a rocke, and rolled a great stone to the doore of the sepulchre, and departed.
61 Maria Magdalena og den andre Maria var der og; dei sat midt fyre gravi.
And there was Marie Magdalene, and the other Marie sitting ouer against the sepulchre.
62 Den andre dagen - det var den som kjem etter fyrebuingsdagen - gjekk dei øvste prestarne og farisæarane saman til Pilatus
Nowe the next day that followed the Preparation of the Sabbath, the hie Priestes and Pharises assembled to Pilate,
63 og sagde: «Herre, me kjem i hug at denne folkedåraren sagde med han livde: «Tri dagar etter stend eg upp att.»
And said, Syr, we remember that that deceiuer saide, while he was yet aliue, Within three dayes I will rise.
64 Set no folk til å vakta vel på gravi til tridje dagen! Elles kunde læresveinarne hans koma og stela honom burt, og segja til folket: «Han hev stade upp frå dei daude, » og då vert den siste dåringi verre enn den fyrste.»
Command therefore, that the sepulchre be made sure vntill the third day, lest his disciples come by night, and steale him away, and say vnto the people, He is risen from the dead: so shall the last errour be worse then the first.
65 Då sagde Pilatus: «Her hev de vakt! Gakk no og tak vare på gravi som de best kann!»
Then Pilate saide vnto them, Ye haue a watch: goe, and make it sure as ye knowe.
66 So gjekk dei og sette vakti til å varveitsla gravi, etter dei hadde forsigla steinen.
And they went, and made the sepulchre sure with the watch, and sealed the stone.
