Malakias 2
1 Og no kjem dette bodet til dykk prestar:
Now, therefore, for you, is this charge, O ye priests: —
2 Vil de ikkje høyra og ikkje leggja dykk på hjarta å gjeva mitt namn æra, segjer Herren, allhers drott, so sender eg forbanningi yver dykk, og eg forbannar velsigningarne dykkar; ja, eg hev alt forbanna deim, av di de ikkje legg det på hjarta.
If ye will not hear, and if ye will not lay it to heart, to give glory to my Name, saith Yahweh of hosts, then will I send among you the curse, and will curse your blessings, —and indeed I have cursed them, because ye are not at all laying it to heart.
3 Sjå, eg bannar avkjømet dykkar og kastar møk i andlitet på dykk, møk av dykkar høgtidsoffer, og dei skal bera dykk burti møki.
Behold me! threatening, on your account, the seed, and I will scatter refuse upon your faces, the refuse of your festivals, —and one shall carry you away unto it;
4 Då skal de sanna at eg hev sendt dykk dette bodet, av di det skal vera mi pakt med Levi, segjer Herren, allhers drott.
So shall ye know that I sent unto you this charge, —as being my covenant with Levi, saith Yahweh of hosts.
5 Mi pakt med honom var liv og fred. Eg gav honom deim til otte, og han ottast meg og skalv for mitt namn.
My covenant, was with him, Life and Well-being, so I gave them to him—[I] as One to be revered— and he did revere me, — and, before my Name, dismayed, was he.
6 Sannings læra var i hans munn, og det fanst ikkje svik på lipporne hans; fredsamt og ærleg gjekk han på min veg, og han vende mange burt ifrå misgjerd.
The deliverance of truth, was in his mouth, and, perverseness, was not found in his lips, — In well-doing and in uprightness, walked he with me, and, multitudes, did he turn from iniquity.
7 For prestelippor skal gøyma på kunnskap, upplæring ventar me av munnen hans, for han er sendebod frå Herren, allhers drott.
For, the lips of a priest, should keep knowledge, and, a deliverance, should men seek at his mouth, — for, the messenger of Yahweh of hosts, he is.
8 Men de hev vike av frå vegen, læra dykkar hev ført mange til fall; de hev skjemt ut Levi-pakti, segjer Herren, allhers drott.
But, ye, have departed out of the way, ye have caused multitudes to stumble at the deliverance, — ye have violated the covenant of Levi, saith Yahweh of hosts.
9 Difor hev eg og gjort dykk vanvyrde og nedsedde for alt folket, av di de ikkje agtar på mine vegar, men gjer skil på folk i lovlæra.
Therefore, I also, will suffer you to be despised and of no account unto all the people, —in proportion as none of you have been keeping my ways, but have had respect to persons, in giving your deliverance.
10 Hev ikkje me ein far alle saman? Hev ikkje ein Gud skapt oss? Kvi fer me då med svik mot kvarandre og vanhelgar fedrepakti?
Is there not, one Father, to us all? Did not, one GOD, create us? Wherefore should we deal treacherously one with another, profaning the covenant of our fathers?
11 Svik hev Juda fare med, og styggedom hev gjenge for seg i Israel og i Jerusalem; for Juda hev vanhelga Herrens heilagdom, som han elskar, og hev gift seg med dotter til ein framand gud.
Judah, hath dealt treacherously, and, an abomination, hath been wrought in Israel, and in Jerusalem, — for Judah, had profaned, the holy place of Yahweh, which he had loved, and hath taken to himself the daughter of a foreign GOD.
12 Hjå den mannen som gjer slikt - måtte Herren rydja ut kvar livande sjæl or Jakobs hyttor, og den som ber fram offergåva til Herren, allhers drott!
May Yahweh, cut off, from the man that doeth it—him that crieth out and him that answereth, out of the tents of Jacob, — him also that bringeth near a present to Yahweh of hosts.
13 Og endå ein ting til gjer de: Yver Herrens altar legg de tåror og gråt og sukkar, so han vil venda seg til offergåva meir eller med hugnad tek imot noko av dykkar hand.
And, this, a second time, will ye do, covering with tears, the altar of Yahweh, weeping and making outcry, —because he will not again turn unto the gift, and receive [it] with acceptance, at your hands?
14 De spør: «Korleis då?» Jau, Herren hev vore vitne millom deg og ditt ungdomsviv, henne som du hev svike, endå ho var festarmøyi di og egtemaken din.
Yet ye say, For what cause? Because, Yahweh, hath been witness between thee and the wife of thy youth, with whom, thou, hast dealt treacherously, though, she, was thy consort, and thy covenant wife.
15 Hev ikkje den eine og same skapt henne, med di han hadde endå meir ånd att? Og kva stila han på, den eine? Guddomleg ætt. Tak då vare på dykkar liv og svik ikkje ditt ungdomsviv!
Now was it not, One, [who] made [you] who had, the residue of the spirit? What, then, of that One? He was seeking a godly seed. Therefore should ye take heed to your spirit, and, with the wife of thy youth, do not thou deal treacherously.
16 Eg hatar skilsmål, segjer Herren, Israels Gud; med det sveiper ein vald um klædi sine, segjer Herren, allhers drott. So tak då vare på dykkar liv og far ikkje med svik.
For he hateth divorce, saith Yahweh, God of Israel, him also who covereth with violence his own clothing, saith Yahweh of hosts, —therefore should ye take heed to your spirit, and not deal treacherously.
17 De trøyttar Herren med dykkar ord. De spør: «Korleis trøytta me?» Jau, de segjer: «Kvar den som gjer vondt, er god i Herrens augo, og han hev hugnad i deim. Kvar er elles Gud som held dom?»
Ye have wearied Yahweh with your words, and yet ye say, Wherein have we been wearisome? When ye have said, Everyone who doeth wrong, is right in the eyes of Yahweh, and, in them, he hath taken delight, or, Where is the God of justice?
