Josvas 2
1 Josva Nunsson sende i løynd tvo spæjarar ut frå Sittim, og sagde til deim: «Tak av stad, og sjå dykk um i landet, helst i Jeriko!» So for dei i veg, og då dei kom fram, gjekk dei inn til ei skjøkja som heitte Rahab, og der fekk dei hus.
And he sent Joshua [the] son of Nun from Shittim two men spies secretly saying go see the land and Jericho and they went and they went [the] house of a woman a prostitute and name her [was] Rahab and they lay down there.
2 Då vart det sagt kongen i Jeriko at nokre israelitiske menner var komne der um kvelden og vilde spæja ut landet.
And it was told to [the] king of Jericho saying here! men they have come hither this night from [the] people of Israel to spy out the land.
3 So sende kongen bod til Rahab, og sagde: «Kom fram med dei mennerne som er komne til deg, og som du hev lånt hus! Dei vil spæja ut heile landet; det er det dei er komne for.»
And he sent [the] king of Jericho to Rahab saying bring out the men who came to you who they came to house your for to spy out all the land they have come.
4 Men kvinna tok og løynde båe mennerne, og so sagde ho: «Ja, det er fulla so at det kom nokre menner til meg, men eg visste ikkje kvar dei var ifrå;
And she took the woman [the] two the men and she hid him and she said - right they came to me the men and not I knew from where [were] they.
5 og i skumingi, då porten skulde stengjast, tok dei ut att; eg veit ikkje kvar dei for av. Nøyt dykk og set etter deim, so tek de deim nok att!»
And it was the gate [about] to shut at darkness and the men they went out not I know where? did they go the men pursue quickly after them for you will overtake them.
6 Dette sagde ho; men ho hadde sjølv fylgt deim upp på taket, og løynt deim under noko lin som ho hadde breidt utyver der.
And she she had taken up them the roof towards and she had hidden them among [the] flax of the tree that had been arranged by her on the roof.
7 So tok kongsmennerne ut, og sette etter deim på vegen til Jordan, burtåt vadi; og porten vart stengd med same dei var farne.
And the men they pursued after them [the] road of the Jordan to the fords and the gate people closed after just when they had gone out the pursuers after them.
8 Fyrr ferdamennerne hadde lagt seg til å sova, kom Rahab upp på taket
And they not yet they had lain down! and she she went up to them on the roof.
9 og sagde til deim: «Eg veit at Herren hev gjeve dykk dette landet. For dykkar skuld hev det kome ein otte yver oss, og alle som bur her i landet, er so rædde dykk at dei skjelv.
And she said to the men I know that he has given Yahweh to you the land and that it has fallen dread your on us and that they have melted away all [the] inhabitants of the land because of you.
10 For me hev fenge spurt at Herren turka ut Sevhavet framfyre dykk då de for frå Egyptarland, og me hev høyrt kva de gjorde med båe amoritarkongarne på hi sida Jordan, Sihon og Og, dei som de bannstøytte.
For we have heard this: he dried up Yahweh [the] waters of [the] sea of reed[s] from before you when came out you from Egypt and [that] which you did to [the] two [the] kings of the Amorite[s] who [was] on [the] other side of the Jordan to Sihon and to Og whom you totally destroyed them.
11 Då me høyrde det, kolna me all igjenom, so rædde vart me, og no finst det ingen meir som hev hug til å møta dykk; for Herren, dykkar Gud, han er Gud både uppi himmelen og nedpå jordi.
And we heard and it melted heart our and not it arose again spirit in anyone because of you for Yahweh God your he [is] God in the heavens above and on the earth beneath.
12 So sver meg no ved Herren, at sidan eg hev gjort vel imot dykk, so skal de gjera vel mot folket mitt, og gjev med trygd for
And therefore swear please to me by Yahweh for I have done with you loyalty and you will do also you with [the] household of father my loyalty and you will give to me a sign of faithfulness.
13 at de vil spara foreldri og syskini mine og alt husfolket deira, og berga livet vårt!»
And you will let live father my and mother my and brothers my and (sisters my *Q(K)*) and all who [belong] to them and you will deliver lives our from death.
14 Då sagde mennerne: «Med vårt eige liv skal me svara for livet dykkar, so sant de ikkje let nokon få vita kva ærend me fer i; og når Herren gjev oss dette landet, so skal me vera trugne og gjera vel mot deg.»
And they said to her the men life our for you to die if not you will tell business our this and it will be when gives Yahweh to us the land and we will do with you loyalty and faithfulness.
15 So fira ho deim med eit reip ned frå vindauga; for ho budde attmed bymuren, og huset hennar gjekk i eitt med muren.
And she let down them with rope through the window for house her [was] in [the] wall of the city wall and in the city wall she [was] dwelling.
16 Og ho sagde til deim: «Far no til fjells, so de ikkje møter deim som leitar etter dykk, og haldt dykk løynde der i tri dagar, til dei kjem att; sidan kann de fara kvar de vil.»
And she said to them the hill country towards go lest they should meet you the pursuers and you will hide yourselves there three days until return the pursuers and after you will go to way your.
17 Då sagde mennerne til henne: «Gjer du ikkje som me no segjer, so held me oss for løyste frå den eiden du let oss sverja:
And they said to her the men [will be] free we from oath your this which you made swear us.
18 Når me kjem inn i landet, skal du binda denne raude snori i vindauga som du fira oss ned frå, og so skal du samla foreldri og brørne dine og alt skyldfolket ditt i huset hjå deg.
Here! we [are] about to come in the land [the] cord of [the] thread of the scarlet this you will bind in the window which you let down us in it and father your and mother your and brothers your and all [the] household of father your you will gather to you the house towards.
19 Gjeng då nokon ut or husdøri di, so er det hans eigi skuld um han vert drepen, og me er skuldlause; men vert det lagt hand på nokon av deim som er i huset hjå deg, so skal me svara for livet hans.
And it will be every [one] who he will go out from [the] doors of house your - the outside towards blood his [will be] on own head his and we [will be] free and every [one] who he will be with you in the house blood his [will be] on head our if a hand it will be on him.
20 Og talar du til nokon um ærendi vår, so er me og løyste frå den eiden du tok av oss.»
And if you will tell business our this and we will be free from oath your which you made swear us.
21 «Det skal vera som de segjer, » svara ho. So bad ho farvel med deim, og dei gjekk. Sidan batt ho den raude snori i vindauga.
And she said according to words your [be] so it and she sent off them and they went and she bound [the] cord of the scarlet in the window.
22 Dei gjekk til dei kom upp i fjellet; der heldt dei seg i tri dagar, til dei som hadde sett etter deim, var attkomne; dei hadde leita etter heile vegen, men ingen funne.
And they went and they came the hill country towards and they remained there three days until they returned the pursuers and they searched the pursuers in all the way and not they found [them].
23 So tok dei tvo ferdamennerne på heimvegen og gjekk ned frå fjellet, og sette yver elvi, og kom til Josva Nunsson, og sagde frå um alt det som hadde hendt deim.
And they returned [the] two the men and they went down from the hill country and they passed over and they came to Joshua [the] son of Nun and they recounted to him all the [things that] had found with them.
24 «Herren hev gjeve heile landet i våre hender, » sagde dei til Josva, «og alle som bur der, er so rædde oss at dei skjelv.»
And they said to Joshua that he has given Yahweh in hand our all the land and also they have melted away all [the] inhabitants of the land because of us.
