Hoseas 14
1 Vend um, du Israel, til Herren, din Gud! For med di misgjerning hev du ført deg i fall.
O Israel, return unto Jehovah thy God; for thou hast fallen by thine iniquity.
2 Tak med dykk ord, og vend um til Herren! Seg til honom: «Forlat all misgjerning og tak imot det som godt er, lat oss betala med uksar - med våre lippor!
Take with you words, and turn to Jehovah; say unto him, Forgive all iniquity, and receive [us] graciously; so will we render the calves of our lips.
3 Assur skal ikkje frelsa oss. På hestar skal me ikkje rida. Og ikkje meir skal me segja: «Vår Gud!» til det som henderne våre hev gjort. For hjå deg er det at den faderlause fær miskunn.»
Assyria shall not save us; we will not ride upon horses: neither will we say any more to the work of our hands, [Thou art] our God; because in thee the fatherless findeth mercy.
4 Ja, deira fråfall vil eg lækja. Eg vil elska deim av fri hug, av di vreiden min hev vendt seg ifrå deim.
I will heal their backsliding, I will love them freely; for mine anger is turned away from him.
5 Eg skal vera som dogg for Israel. Bløma skal han som ei lilja, og røtast skal han som Libanon.
I will be as the dew unto Israel: he shall blossom as the lily, and cast forth his roots as Lebanon.
6 Renningarne hans skal spreida seg, og skal vera som eit oljetre i fagerleik, og anga som Libanon.
His shoots shall spread, and his beauty shall be as the olive-tree, and his smell as Lebanon.
7 Dei som bur i skuggen hans, skal atter avla korn og bløma som vintreet. Minnet um honom skal vera som vin ifrå Libanon.
They shall return and sit under his shadow; they shall revive [as] corn, and blossom as the vine: the renown thereof shall be as the wine of Lebanon.
8 Men du, Efraim! Kva skal eg med avgudarne meir? Eg bønhøyrer og ser til honom. Eg er som eit grønt cypresstre. Frå meg skal di frukt vera å finna.
Ephraim [shall say], What have I to do any more with idols? (I answer [him], and I will observe him.) I am like a green fir-tree. — From me is thy fruit found.
9 Den som er vis, han agte på dette, den som er vitug, merke seg det! For Herrens vegar er rette, og rettvise ferdast på deim, men illgjerdsmenner stuper på deim.
Who is wise, and he shall understand these things? intelligent, and he shall know them? For the ways of Jehovah are right, and the just shall walk in them; but the transgressors shall fall therein.
