Haggai 1
1 I andre styringsåret åt kong Darius, fyrste dagen i sette månaden, kom Herrens ord ved profeten Haggai til Zerubbabel Sealtielsson, jarl yver Juda, og til øvstepresten Josva Josadaksson:
In the second year of Darius the king, in the sixth month, on the first of the month, came the word of Yahweh, by the hand of Haggai the prophet, unto Zerubbabel son of Shealtiel, pasha of Judah, and unto Jehoshua son of Jehozadak the high priest, saying:
2 So segjer Herren, allhers drott: Dette folket segjer: «Det er ikkje enno tid til å koma, tid til å byggja Herrens hus.»
Thus, speaketh Yahweh of hosts, saying, —This people, have said, Not yet hath come the time for the house of Yahweh to be built.
3 Men so kom Herrens ord ved profeten Haggai:
Therefore hath come the word of Yahweh by the hand of Haggai the prophet, saying:
4 Er det då tid for dykk sjølve å bu i dykkar bordklædde hus, medan dette huset ligg i øyde?
Is it a time that, ye yourselves, should be dwelling in your own paneled houses? and, this house, be in ruins?
5 Og no segjer Herren, allhers drott, so: Agta på korleis det gjeng dykk!
Now, therefore, Thus, saith Yahweh of hosts, —Apply your heart unto your own experience—
6 De sår mykje, og haustar lite; de et og vert ikkje mette; de drikk og sløkkjer ikkje torsten; de klæder dykk og vert ikkje varme; leigetenaren fær si løn i ein botnelaus pung.
Ye have sown much, but have brought in little, have eaten, and not been filled, have drunk, and not been satisfied with drink, have clothed you, and none hath been warm, —and, he that hath hired himself out, hath put his wages into a bag with holes.
7 So segjer Herren, allhers drott: «Agta på korleis det gjeng dykk!»
Thus, saith Yahweh of hosts, —Apply your heart to your own experience:
8 Far til fjells og henta timber og bygg upp templet, so eg kann hava hugnad i det og syna meg herleg, segjer Herren.
Ascend the mountain—and bring in wood and build the house, —that I may be pleased therewith and get myself glory, saith Yahweh.
9 De vona mykje og vann lite; de førde heim og eg bles det burt. Kvifor? segjer Herren, allhers drott. Jau, for mitt hus skuld, av di det ligg i øyde, medan de sjølve hev det annsamt kvar med sitt hus.
When ye looked for much, then lo! it came to little, when ye brought it home, then I did blow into it, — Because of what? Demandeth Yahweh of hosts, Because of my house, the which is in ruins, while ye keep running every man to his own house.
10 Difor hev himmelen meinka dykk dogg og jordi meinka dykk grøda.
Wherefore—on your account, have the heavens, held back, dew, — and, the earth, held back her fruit;
11 Eg hev kalla turk yver land og fjell, yver korn og druvesaft og olje og alt som gror på marki, yver folk og fe og all dykkar arbeidsvinning.
And I have called for drought, upon the land and upon the mountains, and upon the corn and upon the new wine and upon the oil, and upon that which the ground, bringeth forth, —and upon man, and upon beast, and upon all the labour of the hands.
12 Zerubbabel Sealtielsson og øvstepresten Josva Josadaksson og alt det som var att av folket lydde på Herren, sin Gud, og ordi frå profeten Haggai, av di Herren, deira Gud, hadde sendt honom; og folket bar age for Herren.
Then hearkened Zerubbabel son of Shealtiel, and Jehoshua son of Jehozadak the high priest, and all the remnant of the people, unto the voice of Yahweh their God, and unto the words of Haggai the prophet, as Yahweh their God, had sent him, —and the people, stood in awe, before Yahweh.
13 Og Herrens sendebod Haggai bar fram Herrens bod til folket: Eg er med dykk, segjer Herren.
Then spake Haggai the messenger of Yahweh, in the message of Yahweh, to the people saying, —I, am with you, Declareth Yahweh.
14 Og Herren kveikte hugen hjå Zerubbabel Sealtielsson, jarlen yver Juda, og hjå øvstepresten Josva Josadaksson og hjå alle deim som var att av folket, so dei lagde i veg og arbeidde på huset åt Herren, allhers drott, deira Gud;
Thus did Yahweh, stir up—the spirit of Zerubbabel son of Shealtiel, pasha of Judah, and the spirit of Jehoshua son of Jehozadak the high priest, and the spirit of all the remnant of the people, —and they came in and did service in the house of Yahweh of hosts their God:
15 den fire og tjugande dagen i sette månaden i andre styringsåret åt kong Darius.
on the twenty-fourth day of the month, in the sixth month, —in the second year of Darius the king.
