2 Mosebok 9
1 Og Herren sagde til Moses: «Gakk fram for Farao og seg med honom: «So segjer Herren, Hebræarguden: «Lat folket mitt fara, so dei kann tena meg!
Then Yahweh said to Moses, “Go to Pharaoh and tell him, 'Yahweh, the God of the Hebrews, says this: “Let my people go so that they may worship me.”
2 For meinkar du deim å fara, og held du deim att endå lenger,
But if you refuse to let them go, if you still keep them back,
3 so skal Herren leggja si hand på feet ditt, som beiter på bøen, både hestar og asen og kamelar og naut og sauer, og søkja deim med ei øgjeleg drepsott.
then Yahweh's hand will be on your cattle in the fields and on the horses, donkeys, camels, herds, and flocks, and it will cause a terrible disease.
4 Men Herren skal gjera skil på israelsfeet og egyptarfeet, og det skal ikkje døy noko av det som høyrer Israel til.»»»
Yahweh will treat Israel's cattle and Egypt's cattle differently and no animal that belongs to the Israelites will die.
5 Og Herren sette tidi og sagde: «I morgon vil Herren lata dette henda i landet.»
Yahweh has fixed a time; he has said, “It is tomorrow that I will do this thing in the land.”'”
6 Dagen etter gjorde Herren som han hadde sagt, og alt egyptarfeet døydde, men av feet åt Israels-folket døydde ikkje eit liv.
Yahweh did this the next day: All the cattle of Egypt died, but none of the Israelites' animals died, not one animal.
7 Og Farao sende bod, og då hadde det ikkje døytt eit einaste liv av israelsfeet. Men Farao sette hardt imot hardt, og meinka folket å fara.
Pharaoh investigated, and, behold, not even one animal of the Israelites died. But his heart was stubborn, so he did not let the people go.
8 Då sagde Herren til Moses og Aron: «Tak henderne fulle med omnsoska, og Moses skal kasta henne upp i veret, so Farao ser på det.
Then Yahweh said to Moses and to Aaron, “Take some handfuls of ashes from a kiln. You, Moses, must throw the ashes up into the air while Pharaoh is watching.
9 Då skal ho verta til dumba og fjuka utyver heile Egyptarland, og av dumba skal det koma ei sott som bryt ut med kaunar på folk og fe i alt Egyptarlandet.»
They will become fine dust over all the land of Egypt. They will cause blisters and sores to break out on people and animals throughout all the land of Egypt.”
10 So tok dei oska or masomnen, og steig fram for Farao, og Moses kasta henne upp i veret; då kom det ei kaunsott som braut ut på folk og på fe.
So Moses and Aaron took ashes from a kiln and stood in front of Pharaoh. Then Moses threw the ashes up into the air. The ashes caused blisters and sores to break out on people and animals.
11 Og runemeistrarne orka ikkje å standa framfor Moses for verken skuld; for kaunarne hadde sett seg på runemeistrarne som på alle egyptarane.
The magicians could not resist Moses because of the blisters, because the blisters were on them and on all the other Egyptians.
12 Men Herren gjorde Farao strid i hugen; og det gjekk som han hadde sagt med Moses: Farao høyrde ikkje på deim.
Yahweh hardened Pharaoh's heart, so Pharaoh did not listen to Moses and Aaron. This was just as Yahweh had said to Moses that Pharaoh would do.
13 Då sagde Herren til Moses: «Ris tidleg upp i morgon, og stig beint fram for Farao, og seg med honom: «So segjer Herren, Hebræarguden: «Lat folket mitt fara, so dei kann tena meg!
Then Yahweh said to Moses, “Get up early in the morning, stand in front of Pharaoh, and say to him, 'Yahweh, the God of the Hebrews, says this: “Let my people go so that they may worship me.
14 For denne gongen vil eg senda alle mine plågor yver deg sjølv og mennerne dine og folket ditt, so du skal sanna at ingen er som eg på heile jordi.
For this time I will send all my plagues on you yourself, on your servants and your people. I will do this so that you may know that there is no one like me in all the earth.
15 No hadde eg alt lyft handi mi, og vilde slege deg og folket ditt med drepsott, og då hadde du vorte utrudd av verdi.
By now I could have reached out with my hand and attacked you and your people with disease, and you would have been eradicated from the land.
16 Men eg sparde deg, av di eg vilde syna deg magti mi og gjera namnet mitt kunnigt yver all jordi.
But it was for this reason I allowed you to survive: In order to show you my power, so that my name may be proclaimed throughout all the earth.
17 Endå legg du deg i vegen for folket mitt, og vil ikkje lata deim fara.
You are still lifting yourself up against my people by not letting them go.
18 Sjå, difor vil eg i morgon dette bil senda eit øgjeleg haglver, som det aldri hev vore maken til i Egyptarlandet, frå den dag det vart grunna og til no.»»
Listen! Tomorrow about this time I will bring a very strong hail storm, such as has not been seen in Egypt since the day it was begun until now.
19 Send no bod, og berga buskapen din og alt de du hev på marki! Alt som er ute og ikkje kjem seg i hus, anten det er folk eller fe, skal haglet koma yver, og dei skal døy.»
Now then, send men and gather your cattle and everything you have in the fields to a safe place. Every man and animal that is in the field and is not brought home—the hail will come down on them, and they will die.”'”
20 Dei av kongsmennerne som hadde age for ordi åt Herren, dei berga då tenarane og buskapen sin i hus.
Then those of Pharaoh's servants who believed in Yahweh's message hurried to bring their slaves and cattle into the houses.
21 Men dei som ikkje agta på Herrens ord, let både tenarane og buskapen vera ute.
But those who did not take Yahweh's message seriously left their slaves and cattle in the fields.
22 Då sagde Herren til Moses: «Rett handi di upp imot himmelen, so skal haglet koma sturtande yver heile Egyptarland, på folk og på fe og på kvart strå som på marki veks i Egyptarlandet.»
Then Yahweh said to Moses, “Reach out with your hand toward the sky so that there will be hail in all the land of Egypt, on people, on animals, and on all the plants in the fields throughout the land of Egypt.”
23 So rette Moses staven sin upp imot himmelen. Då sende Herren torever og hagl, og eldingarne for ned til jordi, medan Herren let det hagla yver Egyptarlandet.
Moses reached out with his staff toward the sky, and Yahweh sent thunder, hail, and lightning to the ground. He also rained hail on the land of Egypt.
24 Haglet kom drusande, og midt i haglflodi gjekk det ljon i ljon. Aldri hadde det vore slikt uver i Egyptarlandet, frå den tid det vart bygt.
So there were hail and lightning mixed with hail, very severe, such as had not been in all the land of Egypt since it became a nation.
25 Og haglet slo ned alt som ute var i heile Egyptarland, både folk og fe, og all grøda på marki slo haglet ned, og kvart tre braut det sund.
Throughout all the land of Egypt, the hail struck everything in the fields, both people and animals. It struck every plant in the fields and broke every tree.
26 Men i Gosenlandet, der Israels-folket budde, der gjekk ikkje haglflodi.
Only in the land of Goshen, where the Israelites lived, was there no hail.
27 Då sende Farao bod etter Moses og Aron, og sagde med deim: «Denne gongen hev eg synda. Herren er den som hev rett, og eg og folket mitt me hev urett.
Then Pharaoh sent men to summon Moses and Aaron. He said to them, “I have sinned this time. Yahweh is righteous, and I and my people are wicked.
28 Bed til Herren at det må hava ein ende med toreslåtten og haglet, so skal eg lata dykk fara, og de tarv ikkje bia lenger.»
Pray to Yahweh, because the mighty thunderbolts and hail are too much. I will let you go, and you will stay here no longer.”
29 «Med same eg kjem ut or byen, skal eg lyfta henderne og beda til Herren, » svara Moses. «Då skal tora halda upp, og haglet driva av, so du skal sanna at jordi høyrer Herren til.
Moses said to him, “As soon as I leave the city, I will spread my hands out to Yahweh. The thunder will stop, and there will not be any more hail. In this way you will know that the earth belongs to Yahweh.
30 Men det veit eg vel at du og mennerne dine endå ikkje hev age for Herren Gud.»
But as for you and your servants, I know that you do not yet really honor Yahweh God.”
31 Både lin og bygg var nedslege; for bygget stod med aks, og linet med blom.
Now the flax and the barley were ruined, for the barley was maturing in the ear, and the flax was in bloom.
32 Men kveiten og rugen var ikkje nedslege; for dei årar seinare.
But the wheat and the spelt were not harmed because they were later crops.
33 Og Moses gjekk burt frå Farao og ut or byen, og lyfte henderne til Herren. Då heldt tora og haglveret upp, og regnet hylja ikkje meir ned på jordi.
When Moses had left Pharaoh and the city, he spread out his hands to Yahweh; the thunder and hail stopped, and the rain came down no more.
34 Men då Farao såg at regnet og haglet og tora hadde stogga, so heldt han på og synda, og herde seg til, både han og mennerne hans.
When Pharaoh saw that the rain, hail, and thunder had ceased, he sinned again and hardened his heart, together with his servants.
35 Det gjekk som Herren hadde havt Moses til å segja: Farao var hard som stein, og vilde ikkje lata Israels-folket fara.
Pharaoh's heart was hardened, so he did not let the people of Israel go. This was the way that Yahweh had said to Moses that Pharaoh would act.
