2 Mosebok 34
1 So sagde Herren til Moses: «Hogg deg ut tvo steintavlor liksom dei fyrste, so skal eg på deim skriva dei same ordi som stod på dei fyrste tavlorne, deim du slo sund.
Adonai said to Moses [Drawn out], “Chisel two stone tablets like the first: and I will write on the tablets the words that were on the first tablets, which you broke.
2 Haldt deg so ferdig til i morgon tidleg! Då skal du stiga upp på Sinaifjellet, og venta på meg der, på fjelltinden.
Be ready by the morning, and come up in the morning to Mount Sinai [Thorn], and present yourself there to me on the top of the mountain.
3 Ingen må vera med deg upp, og ingen må syna seg på heile fjellet; heller ikkje må naut eller sauer beita uppunder dette fjellet.»
No one shall come up with you or be seen anywhere on the mountain. Do not let the flocks or herds graze in front of that mountain.”
4 So hogg Moses ut tvo steintavlor liksom dei fyrste, og dagen etter reis han upp i otta, og gjekk upp på fjellet, som Herren hadde sagt honom til, og hadde båe steintavlorne i handi.
He chiseled two tablets of stone like the first; and Moses [Drawn out] rose up early in the morning, and went up to Mount Sinai [Thorn], as Adonai had enjoined him, and took in his hand two stone tablets.
5 Då steig Herren ned i skyi, og Moses gjekk innåt, og ropa Herren på namn.
Adonai descended in the cloud, and stood with him there, and proclaimed Adonai’s name.
6 Då for Herren fram midt for augo hans og ropa: «Det er Herren! Herren er ein mild og kjærleg Gud, tolug og full av nåde og truskap!
Adonai passed by before him, and proclaimed, “Yud-Hey-Vav-Hey! Yahweh a merciful and gracious God, slow to anger, and abundant in chesed ·loving-kindness· and truth,
7 Han let si miskunn vara i tusund mannsaldrar; han tilgjev brot og misgjerning og synd; men han vil ikkje at den skuldige skal vera strafflaus: han hemner broti åt federne på borni og barneborni, ja på barnebarns-borni og borni etter deim att.»
keeping chesed ·loving-kindness· for thousands, forgiving depravity (moral evil) and rebellious breach of relationship and habitual sin ·missing the mark·; and that will by no means clear the guilty, visiting the depravity (moral evil) of the fathers on the children, and on the children’s children, on the third and on the fourth generation.”
8 Då kasta Moses seg snøgt å gruve og bad.
Moses [Drawn out] hurried and bowed his head toward the earth, and worshiped.
9 «Å Herre, » sagde han, «hev du noko godvilje for meg, so gjer vel og gakk med oss! Um dette er eit hardkyndt folk, so tilgjev broti og synderne våre, og lata oss vera din eigen lyd!»
He said, “If now I have found chen ·grace· in your sight, Adonai, please let Adonai go among us; although this is a stiff-necked people; pardon our depravity (moral evil) and our habitual sin ·missing the mark·, and take us for your inheritance.”
10 Og han svara: «Ja, eg vil gjera eit samband med deg; midt for augo åt heile folket ditt vil eg gjera slike under at det aldri hev vore set maken på heile jordi eller hjå noko folkeslag, og heile det folket du bur imillom, skal sjå Herrens verk, kor ageleg det er, og kor store ting eg skal gjera for deg.
He said, “Behold, I make a covenant ·binding contract between two or more parties·: before all your people I will do marvels, such as have not been worked in all the earth, nor in any nation; and all the people among which you are shall see the work of Adonai; for it is an awesome thing that I do with you.
11 Kom no i hug det eg segjer med deg i dag! Sjå no vil eg jaga amoritarne og kananitarne og hetitarne og perizitarne og hevitarne og jebusitarne: dei skal røma for deg.
Observe that which I enjoin you today. Behold, I divorce from before you the Amorite [Descendants of Talkers], the Canaanite [Descendant of Humbled], the Hittite [Descendant of Trembling fear], the Perizzite [Descendant of Belonging to village], the Hivite [Wicked], and the Jebusite [Descendants of Thresher].
12 Agta deg då so du ikkje gjer noko samband med deim som bur i det landet du kjem til! For bur dei imillom dykk, so kunde dei verta ei snara for dykk.
Be careful, lest you make a covenant with the inhabitants of the land where you are going, lest it be for a snare in the middle of you:
13 De skal riva ned altari deira og slå sund minnesteinarne og hogga dei heilage trei.
but you shall break down their altars, and dash in pieces their pillars, and you shall cut down their Asherah poles;
14 Du skal ikkje beda til nokon annan gud; for Herren heiter den Strenge; han er ein streng Gud.
for you shall hawa ·bow low, prostrate· to worship no other deity: for Yahweh [He sustains breathing], whose name is Kana' [Jealous], is El Kana' [God Jealous].
15 Aldri må du gjera noko samband med deim som bur der i landet. For når dei held seg med gudarne sine og blotar til deim, so vil dei beda deg til seg, og du vil eta av blotmaten deira;
“Don’t make a covenant with the inhabitants of the land, lest they play the prostitute after their deities, and sacrifice to their deities, and one call you and you eat of his sacrifice;
16 du vil gifta sønerne dine med døtterne deira, og dei vil halda seg med gudarne sine og lokka sønerne dine til å gjera det same.
and you take of their daughters to your sons, and their daughters play the prostitute after their deities, and make your sons play the prostitute after their deities.
17 Gjer deg ikkje støypte gudebilæte!
“You shall make no molten elohim ·deities· for yourselves.
18 Søtebrødhelgi skal du halda: sju dagar skal du eta søtt brød, so som eg hev sagt deg, på den tid eg hev sett, i aksmånaden; for i aksmånaden tok du ut frå Egyptarland.
“You shall keep the festival of Matzah ·Unleavened bread·. Seven days you shall eat matzah ·unleavened bread·, as I enjoined you, at the time appointed in the first month Aviv ·Ripening grain (of a new crop), 1·; for in the first month Aviv ·Ripening grain (of a new crop), 1· you came out of Egypt [Abode of slavery].
19 Alt som kjem fyrst frå morsliv, skal høyra meg til, alt bufeet ditt som er han av slaget og som fell fyrst undan naut eller sau.
“All that opens the womb is mine; and all your livestock that is male, the firstborn of cow and sheep.
20 Det fyrste fylet som fell undan eit asen, skal du løysa med eit lamb eller kid, og løyser du det ikkje, so skal du brjota nakken på det. Kvart sveinbarn i ætti di som er frumbore, skal du løysa. Og ingen må lata seg sjå tomhendes for augo mine.
You shall redeem the firstborn of a donkey with a lamb. If you will not redeem it, then you shall break its neck. You shall redeem all the firstborn of your sons. No one shall appear before me empty.
21 Seks dagar lyt du arbeida, men den sjuande dagen skal du kvila; um det so er i våronni eller skurdonni, so skal du kvila den sjuande dagen.
“Six days you shall work, but on the seventh day you shall rest: in plowing time and in harvest you shall rest.
22 Sjuvikehelgi skal du halda når du tek inn fyrstegrøda av kveitehausten, og hausthelgi når året er utrunne.
“You shall observe the festival of Shavu'ot ·Weeks· / Pentacost ·Fifty· with the first fruits of wheat harvest, and the festival of in-gathering at the turn of the year.
23 Tri gonger um året skal alle karfolki dine møta for Drotten, for Herren, Israels Gud.
Three times in the year all your males shall appear before the Lord Yahweh, Elohim Isra'el [He sustains breathing, God of God prevails].
24 For eg vil driva ut heile folkeslag der du fer fram, og vidka ut riket ditt, og ingen skal trå etter landet ditt medan du fer upp og møter for Herren, din Gud - tri vendor um året.
For I will drive out nations before you and enlarge your borders; neither shall any man desire your land when you go up to appear before Adonai, your God, three times in the year.
25 Du skal ikkje bera fram blodet av offerdyri mine attåt syrt brød, og ikkje må påskehelgofferet verta liggjande natti yver, til morgondagen.
“You shall not offer the blood of my sacrifice with leavened bread. The sacrifice of the festival of the Pesac ·Passover· shall not be left to the morning.
26 Det allerfyrste av grøda på marki di skal du bera til huset åt Herren, din Gud. Du skal ikkje sjoda kidet i mjølki åt mor si.»
“You shall bring the first of the first fruits of your ground to the house of Adonai your God. “You shall not boil a young goat in its mother’s milk fat.”
27 Og Herren sagde til Moses: «Skriv no du upp desse ordi! For etter desse ordi vil eg gera eit samband med deg og med Israel.»
Adonai said to Moses [Drawn out], “Write you these words: for in accordance with these words I have made a covenant with you and with Israel [God prevails].”
28 Han var der hjå Herren, fyrti dagar og fyrti næter, og ikkje åt han og ikkje drakk han. Og Herren skreiv sambandslovi, dei ti bodordi, på tavlorne.
He was there with Adonai forty days and forty nights; he neither ate bread, nor drank water. He wrote on the tablets the words of the covenant, the Ten Words.
29 So gjekk Moses ned av Sinaifjellet med dei tvo lovtavlorne i handi, og då han kom ned, stråla og skein det av andlitet hans, av di at Gud hadde tala med honom, men sjølv visste han det ikkje.
When Moses [Drawn out] came down from Mount Sinai [Thorn] with the two tablets of the testimony in Moses [Drawn out]’ hand, when he came down from the mountain, Moses [Drawn out] didn’t know that the skin of his face shone by reason of his speaking with him.
30 Og Aron og heile Israels-folket såg at det skein av andlitet hans Moses, og dei torde ikkje ganga innåt honom.
When Aaron [Light-bringer] and all the children of Israel [God prevails] saw Moses [Drawn out], behold, the skin of his face shone; and they were afraid to come near him.
31 Då ropa Moses på deim, og so kom Aron og alle dei øvste av lyden hit til honom, og Moses tala med deim.
Moses [Drawn out] called to them, and Aaron [Light-bringer] and all the rulers of the congregation teshuvah ·completely returned· to him; and Moses [Drawn out] spoke to them.
32 Sidan kom alt Israels-folket burtåt, og han bar fram alle dei bodi som Herren hadde gjeve honom på Sinaifjellet.
Afterward all the children of Israel [God prevails] came near, and he enjoined to them all that Adonai had spoken with him on Mount Sinai [Thorn].
33 Og då Moses hadde sagt deim alt det han skulde, lagde han eit slør for andlitet sitt.
When Moses [Drawn out] was done speaking with them, he put a veil on his face.
34 Men når han gjekk fram for Herrens åsyn og skulde tala med honom, tok han sløret burt, til han skulde ut att; so kom han ut og tala til Israels-folket det han var fyresagd.
But when Moses [Drawn out] went in before Adonai to speak with him, he removed the veil, until he came out; and he came out, and spoke to the children of Israel [God prevails] that which he was enjoined.
35 Då såg Israels-folket korleis det stråla av andlitet hans Moses, og Moses hadde sløret for andlitet att, til dess han skulde inn og tala med Herren.
The children of Israel [God prevails] saw Moses [Drawn out]’ face, that the skin of Moses [Drawn out]’ face shone: and Moses [Drawn out] put the veil on his face again, until he went in to speak with him.
