Esters 10

1 Kong Ahasveros lagde skatt på upplandet på sjøbygderne.

And the king Ahasuerus laid a tribute upon the land, and [upon] the isles of the sea.

2 Alt det han gjorde i si magt og sitt velde, og ei greinleg melding um den høge rang som kongen lyfte Mordokai upp til, det er uppskrive i krønikeboki åt dei mediske og persiske kongarne.

And all the acts of his power and of his might, and the declaration of the greatness of Mordecai, to which the king advanced him, [are] they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Media and Persia?

3 Jøden Mordokai var den som stod kong Ahasveros næmest, og han var stor millom jødarne og kjær for dei mange brørne sine; han søkte det som godt var for folket sitt, og tala til bate for all si ætt.

For Mordecai the Jew [was] next to king Ahasuerus, and great among the Jews, and accepted by the multitude of his brethren, seeking the wealth of his people, and speaking peace to all his seed.
