1 So drog han frå Aten og kom til Korint.
AND when Paulos had gone forth from Athinos, he came unto Kurinthos.
2 Der fann han ein jøde med namnet Akvilas, som var fødd i Pontus og nyst var komen frå Italia, og Priskilla, kona hans; for Klaudius hadde påbode at alle jødar skulde hava seg burt frå Rom; og han gjekk til deim,
And he found there a certain man, a Jihudoya, whose name was Akilos, who was from the country of Pontos, (and) who at that time had come from the country of Italia, himself and Priskila his wife, because Klaudios Cesar had commanded that all the Jihudoyee should go out from Ruma; and he drew near to them:
3 og då han dreiv same handverket, budde han hjå deim og arbeidde der; for dei var tjeldmakarar av handverk.
(and) because he was a son of their art, he dwelt with them and wrought with them: but in their art they were tentmakers.
4 Men han heldt samtalar i synagoga kvar kviledag og yvertydde jødar og grækarar.
And he discoursed in the synagogue every shabath, and persuaded the Jihudoyee and the Heathens.
5 Då so Silas og Timoteus kom ned frå Makedonia, var Paulus fullt uppteken med å læra, med di han vitna for jødarne, at Jesus er Messias.
And when from Makedunia Shilo and Timotheos had come, Paulos was constrained in his speech, because the Jihudoyee arose against him and blasphemed, while he testified to them that Jeshu is the Meshiha.
6 Men då dei stod imot og spotta, riste han dusti av klædi sine og sagde til deim: «Dykkar blod kome yver dykkar hovud! Eg er rein; frå denne stundi gjeng eg til heidningarne.»
And he shook his garments and said to them, From now I am clean: I go unto the Gentiles.
7 So gjekk han burt derifrå og kom i huset til ein mann med namnet Justus, som dyrka Gud, og hans hus låg vegg i vegg med synagoga.
And he went forth from thence, and entered into the house of a man named Titos, who worshipped Aloha; and his house adjoined the synagogue.
8 Men Krispus, synagoge-forstandaren, kom til tru på Herren med heile sitt hus; og mange av folket i Korint kom til tru då dei høyrde honom, og let seg døypa.
And Krispos, master of the synagogue, believed in our Lord, he and all the sons of his house. And many of the Kurinthoyee heard and believed in Aloha, and were baptized.
9 Og Herren sagde til Paulus i ei syn um natti: «Ottast ikkje, men tala, og teg ikkje!
And the Lord said in a vision unto Paulos, Fear not, but speak and be not silent;
10 For eg er med deg, og ingen skal leggja hand på deg og gjera deg vondt; for eg hev mykje folk i denne byen.»
for I am with thee, and no man can do thee harm; and I have much people in this city.
11 Og han vart buande der eit år og seks månader, og lærde Guds ord millom deim.
But he abode a year and six months in Kurinthos, and taught them the word of Aloha.
12 Men då Gallio var landshovding yver Akaia, reiste jødarne seg alle som ein mot Paulus og førde ham fram for domstolen og sagde.
AND when Galion was proconsul of Akaia, they gathered together against Paulos, and brought him before the tribunal,
13 «Denne set folk upp til å dyrka Gud imot lovi.»
saying, This (man) part from the law persuadeth men to worship Aloha.
14 Då Paulus vilde opna munnen, sagde Gallio til jødarne: «Var det nokor illgjerning eller noko vondt ustykke, de jødar, då hadde eg med god grunn høyrt på dykk med tolmod.
And when Paulos sought to open his mouth and speak, Galion said to the Jihudoyee, If it were concerning some thing of evil, or of wickedness, or of abomination, you would complain, O Jihudoyee, it would be proper for me to receive you;
15 Men er det stridsspursmål um ei læra og um namn og um dykkar lov, so stell med det sjølve! for i dei ting vil ikkje eg vera domar.»
but if they be questions concerning language and names, and concerning your law, let them be known among yourselves; for I am not willing to be a judge of these matters.
16 Og so dreiv han deim burt frå domstolen.
And he drove them from his tribunal.
17 Men då tok dei alle fat på Sostenes, synagoge-forstandaren, og slo honom midt for domstolen. Og Gallio brydde seg ikkje noko um alt dette.
And all the Heathens seized Sosthenis the presbyter of the synagogue, and beat him before the tribunal. And Galion was careless of these.
18 Paulus vart der endå ei lang tid; so bad han velfar med brørne og siglde burt til Syria, og Priskilla og Akvilas i fylgje med honom, etter at han fyrst i Kenkreæ hadde klypt håret sitt, for han hadde ein lovnad på seg.
And when Paulos had been there many days, he gave the salutation to the brethren, and proceeded by sea to go to Syria: and Priskila and Akilos went with him, when he had shaved his head at Kankreos, because he had vowed a vow.
19 So kom dei til Efesus; der let han dei andre vera att, og sjølv gjekk han inn i synagoga og gav seg i samtale med jødarne.
And they came to Ephesos. And Paulos entered the synagogue and discoursed with the Jihudoyee;
20 Då dei bad honom vera der lenger, samtykte han ikkje,
and they requested of him to tarry with them; and he was not willing;
21 men baud deim velfar og sagde: «Eg skal koma til dykk att, um Gud so vil.» So siglde han frå Efesus,
for he said, It behoveth me faithfully to perform the feast which cometh at Urishlem; and if Aloha willeth, I will come again to you. And Akilos and Priskila he left at Ephesos;
22 og han kom til Cæsarea, og han drog upp og helsa på kyrkjelyden og drog so ned til Antiokia.
and he voyaged by sea and came to Cesarea: and he went up and wished the peace of the sons of the church, and went unto Antiokia.
23 Då han hadde vore der ei tid, drog han ut og for gjenom Galatarlandet og Frygia frå ende til ende og styrkte alle læresveinarne.
And when he had been there certain days, he went forth and itinerated successively through Phrygia and Galatia, confirming all the disciples.
24 Men ein jøde med namnet Apollos, fødd i Aleksandria, ein ordhag mann, kom til Efesus; han var sterk i skrifterne.
And a certain man whose name was Apolu, a Jihudoya, who was by family of Aleksandria, and erudite in speech, and accurate in the scriptures, came to Ephesos.
25 Han var upplærd um Herrens veg, og brennande i åndi tala og lærde han grannleg um Herren, endå han kjende berre Johannes-dåpen.
This was discipled in the way of the Lord, and was fervid in spirit, and he spake and taught freely concerning Jeshu, while knowing not any thing but the baptism of Juhanon.
26 Og han tok til å tala frimodigt i synagoga. Då Priskilla og Akvilas høyrde honom, tok dei honom til seg og greidde Guds veg grannare ut for honom.
And he began boldly to speak in the synagogue. And when Akilos and Priskila heard him, they brought him to their house, and fully showed to him the way of the Lord.
27 Då han so vilde draga derifrå til Akaia, talde brørne honom til og skreiv til læresveinarne um å taka imot honom. Og då han kom dit, var han ved Guds nåde til stor hjelp for dei truande.
And when he willed to go to Akaia, the brethren were careful of him, and wrote to the disciples to receive him. And when he had gone he helped much, through grace, all the believers.
28 For med kraft målbatt han jødarne openberrleg for alle, med di han synte ut or skrifterne at Jesus er Messias.
For he disputed forcibly against the Jihudoyee before the assemblies, while he showed from the scriptures concerning Jeshu, that he is the Meshiha.
