2 Krønikebok 26
1 So tok heile folket i Juda Uzzia og gjorde honom til konge i staden for Amasja, far hans; han var sekstan år gamall.
And all the people of Judah took 'Uzziyahu, who was then sixteen years old, and made him king instead of his father Amazyahu.
2 Det var han som bygde Elot og lagde det under Juda att, då kongen hadde lagt seg til kvile hjå federne sine.
He it was that built Eloth, and brought it back to Judah, after the king slept with his fathers.
3 Sekstan år gamall var Uzzia då han vart konge, og tvo og femti år rådde han i Jerusalem. Mor hans heitte Jekilja og var frå Jerusalem.
Sixteen years old was 'Uzziyahu when he became king, and fifty and two years did he reign in Jerusalem. And his mother's name was Yecholyah of Jerusalem.
4 Han gjorde det som rett var i Herrens augo, plent som Amasja, far hans, hadde gjort.
And he did what is right in the eyes of the Lord, in accordance with all that his father Amazyahu had done.
5 Han heldt ved med å søkja Gud so lenge Zakarja livde, han som skyna Guds syner. Og so lenge som han held seg til Herren, gav Gud honom lukka.
And he was [inclined] to seek God in the days of Zecharyahu, who had understanding in the visions of God; and during the time that he sought the Lord, God caused him to prosper.
6 Han gjorde ei herferd imot filistarane og reiv ned bymurarne i Gat, Jabne og Asdod og bygde byar i Asdodbygderne og i Filistarlandet.
And he went forth and made war against the Philistines, and he broke down the wall of Gath, and the wall of Jabneh, and the wall of Ashdod; and he built cities in [the country of] Ashdod, and among the Philistines.
7 Gud hjelpte honom mot filistarane og mot dei arabarane som bur i Gur-Ba’al og mot me’unitarne.
And God helped him against the Philistines, and against the Arabians that dwelt in Gur-ba'al, and the Me'unim.
8 Ammonitarne svara skatt til Uzzia, og gjetordet um honom nådde til Egyptarland; for han vart overlag megtig.
And the 'Ammonites gave presents to 'Uzziyahu: and his name extended even to the entrance of Egypt; for he became exceedingly strong.
9 Uzzia bygde tårn i Jerusalem ved Hyrneporten, Dalporten og murhyrna og vigfeste deim.
And 'Uzziyahu built towers in Jerusalem, above the corner-gate, and above the valley-gate, and at the angle, and made them strong.
10 Framleides bygde han tårn på heidi og hogg ut mange brunnar, for han hadde store buskaper både i låglandet og på høgsletta, og han hadde jordbruks- og vinhage-arbeidarar i fjellbygdi og i fruktlandet, for han var ein ihuga jordbrukar.
He built also towers in the desert, and hewed out many wells; for he had much cattle, both in the lowlands and in the plain; [also] husbandmen, and vintners in the mountains, and in Carmel; for he loved husbandry.
11 Uzzia hadde ein krigsbudd her, som drog i herferd i flokkar etter teljing og mynstring ved riksskrivaren Je’uel og tilsynsmannen Ma’aseja og tilskipning av Hananja, som var ein av hovdingarne åt kongen.
Moreover 'Uzziyah had an army of fighting men, that went out to the host by bands, according to the number of those mustered of them through the hand of Je'iel the scribe and Ma'asseyahu the overseer, under the supervision of Chananyahu, one of the king's captains.
12 Det fulle talet av dei ættarhovdingarne som var stridsføre, var tvo tusund og seks hundrad.
The whole number of the chiefs of the family divisions of the mighty men of valor was two thousand and six hundred.
13 Under førarskapen deira stod det ein herstyrke på tri hundrad og sju tusund og fem hundrad våpnføre mann i full kraft til å hjelpa kongen mot fienden.
And under their supervision was an efficient army, [of] three hundred thousand and seven thousand and five hundred, that made war with mighty power, to help the king against the enemy.
14 Uzzia budde heile heren med skjoldar, spjot, hjelmar, brynjor, bogar og slyngjesteinar.
And 'Uzziyahu prepared for them, for all the host, shields, and spears, and helmets, and coats of mail, and bows, and stones for slinging.
15 I Jerusalem gjorde han kunstigt uttenkte maskinor; dei vart uppsette på tårni og murtindarne og sende ut piler og store steinar. Soleis nådde gjetordet hans vida ikring, for han vart hjelpt på ein underfull måte til han vart megtig.
And he made in Jerusalem artificial contrivances, contrived by a skilful man, to be [stationed] on the towers and upon the ramparts, to shoot off arrows and great stones. And his name extended ever so far abroad; for he was marvelously assisted, till he became strong.
16 Men då han var megtig vorten, vart hjarta hans ovmodigt, so han skjemde seg ut og gjorde urett mot Herren, sin Gud; han gjekk inn i Herrens hus og vilde kveikja røykjelse på røykjelsesaltaret.
But when he was strong, his heart was lifted up to his destruction; and he became unfaithful against the Lord his God, and went into the temple of the Lord to burn incense upon the altar of incense.
17 Då gjekk presten Azarja etter honom, og med honom åtteti av Herrens prestar, djerve menner.
And there went in after him 'Azaryahu the priest, and with him were priests of the Lord, valiant men, [to the number of] eighty;
18 Dei steig fram mot kong Uzzia og sagde til honom: «Du hev ingen ting med å brenna røykjelse for Herren, Uzzia, men berre prestarne, sønerne åt Aron, som er vigde til å brenna røykjelse. Gakk ut or heilagdomen, for du hev forbrote deg, og det tener ikkje til æra for deg for Herren Gud.»
And they stood forward against king 'Uzziyahu, and they said unto him, It is not for thee, O 'Uzziyahu, to burn incense unto the Lord, but for the priests the sons of Aaron, who are consecrated to burn incense: go out of the sanctuary; for thou hast trespassed; and it will not be for thy honor from the Lord God.
19 Uzzia stod med røykjelsesskåli i handi og skulde til å kveikja i røykjelsen, og han vart harm; men då vreiden hans bar laus imot prestarne, då slo spillsykja ut på panna hans, som han stod der framfyre prestarne attmed røykjelsesaltaret i Herrens hus.
But 'Uzziyahu became wroth, and in his hand was a censer to burn incense: and while he was wroth with the priests, the leprosy even broke out on his forehead before the priests in the house of the Lord, above the altar of the incense.
20 Og då øvstepresten Azarja og alle prestarne snudde seg imot honom, såg dei at han var spillsjuk på panna. Då førde dei honom straks burt, og sjølv skunda han seg med å ganga ut, då Herren hadde slege honom.
And when 'Azaryahu the chief priest, with all the priests, turned about toward him, behold, he was leprous on his forehead, and they hurried him away from there: yea, he also made haste to go out, because the Lord had afflicted him.
21 Soleis vart kong Uzzia spillsjuk til sin døyande dag, og han budde i eit hus for seg sjølv i spillsykja si; for han var utestengd ifrå Herrens hus. Og Jotam, son hans, var drottsete, og heldt rettargang for folket i landet.
And king 'Uzziyahu was a leper until the day of his death, and dwelt in the leper-house, as a leper; for he was excluded from the house of the Lord: and Jotham his son was over the king's house, [and] judged the people of the land.
22 Det som elles er å fortelja um Uzzia frå fyrst til sist, hev profeten Jesaja, son åt Amos, skrive upp.
And the rest of the acts of 'Uzziyahu, the first and the last, did Isaiah the prophet, the son of Amos write.
23 Og Uzzia lagde seg til kvile hjå federne sine, og dei gravla honom hjå federne hans på den marki der kongegravarne var; for dei kom i hug at han hadde vore spillsjuk. Og Jotam, son hans, vart konge i staden hans.
And 'Uzziyahu slept with his fathers, and they buried him with his fathers in the burial-field which belonged to the kings; for they said, He is a leper: and Jotham his son became king in his stead.
