2 Krønikebok 22
1 So tok Jerusalems-buarne Ahazja, den yngste son hans, til konge i staden hans; for dei eldste hadde røvarflokken drepe som hadde kome til lægret saman med arabarane. Soleis vart Ahazja Joramsson konge i Juda.
Then the inhabitants of Jerusalem appointed his youngest son, Ahaziah, as king in his place. For the robbers of the Arabians, who had fallen upon the camp, had put to death all those who were greater by birth before him. And so Ahaziah, the son of Jehoram, reigned as king of Judah.
2 Tvo og tjuge år gamall var Ahazja då han vart konge, og eitt år var han konge i Jerusalem. Mor hans heitte Atalja og var dotter åt Omri.
Ahaziah was forty-two years old when he had begun to reign, and he reigned for one year in Jerusalem. And the name of his mother was Athaliah, the daughter of Omri.
3 Han gjekk på vegarne åt Ahabs hus; for mor hans forførde honom til gudløysa med råderne sine.
But he too went forth in the ways of the house of Ahab. For his mother impelled him to act impiously.
4 Han gjorde det som vondt var i Herrens augo, liksom Ahabs hus; for til hans eige tjon vart dei rådgjevarene hans etter far hans var avliden.
And so he did evil in the sight of the Lord, just as the house of Ahab did. For after the death of his father, they were counselors to him, to his destruction.
5 Etter deira råd for han og i herferd saman med Israels-kongen Joram Ahabsson, imot syrarkongen Hazael ved Ramot i Gilead. Men syrarane særde Joram.
And he walked in their counsels. And he went with Joram, the son of Ahab, the king of Israel, to war against Hazael, the king of Syria, at Ramoth Gilead. And the Syrians wounded Joram.
6 Då snudde han attende og vilde få lækt dei såri i Jizre’el som dei hadde gjeve honom ved Rama, då han stridde med syrarkongen Hazael. Og Azarja, kongen i Juda, son åt Joram, drog ned til Jizre’el og vilde sjå um Joram Ahabsson, av di han var sjuk.
And he returned, so that he might be cured at Jezreel. For he had received many wounds in the above-stated battle. And so Ahaziah, the son of Jehoram, the king of Judah, descended, so that he might visit Joram, the son of Ahab, at Jezreel, while he was ill.
7 Men til undergang for Ahazja hadde Gud laga det so, at han skulde koma til Joram, og når han kom, skulde han draga ut med Joram imot Jehu Nimsison, som Herren hadde salva til å øyda ut Ahabs hus.
Indeed, it was the will of God against Ahaziah that he would go to Joram, and when he had gone, that he also would go out with him against Jehu, the son of Nimshi, whom the Lord had anointed to destroy the house of Ahab.
8 For då Jehu sette i verk domen yver Ahabs hus, då råka han hovdingarne i Juda og brorsønerne åt Ahazja, som gjekk Ahazja til handa, og han drap deim.
Therefore, when Jehu was overthrowing the house of Ahab, he found the leaders of Judah, with the sons of the brothers of Ahaziah, who were ministering to him, and he put them to death.
9 So leita han etter Ahazja, og dei greip honom då han gøymde seg i Samaria, og leidde honom til Jehu, som let honom drepa. Like vel gravlagde dei honom; for dei kom i hug at han var son åt Josafat, som heldt seg til Herren med heile sitt hjarta. Men det var ingen att av huset åt Ahazja som var sterk nok til å taka kongedømet.
Also, while he himself was seeking Ahaziah, he found him to be hiding in Samaria. And having been led to him, he killed him. And they buried him, because he was the son of Jehoshaphat, who had sought the Lord with all his heart. But there was no longer any hope that someone from the stock of Ahaziah would reign.
10 Då Atalja, mor åt Ahazja, fekk vita at son hennar var dåen, tok ho seg fyre å tyna heile kongsætti i Judas hus.
For indeed, his mother, Athaliah, seeing that her son had died, rose up and killed the entire royal stock of the house of Jehoram.
11 Men Josabat, dotter åt kongen, tok Joas Ahazjason, og fekk honom burt ifrå kongssønerne, som var drepne, og fekk honom og fostermor hans inn i sengkammerset. Soleis gøymde Josabat, dotter åt kong Joram og kona åt presten Jojada - for ho var syster åt Ahazja - honom for Atalja, so ho fekk ikkje drepe honom.
But Jehosheba, the daughter of the king, took Joash, the son of Ahaziah, and stole him from the midst the king’s sons when they were being slain. And she hid him with his nurse in a bedroom. Now Jehosheba, the one who had hidden him, was the daughter of king Jehoram, and the wife of the high priest Jehoiada, and the sister of Ahaziah. And because of this, Athaliah did not kill him.
12 So var han hjå deim i Guds hus burtgøymd i seks år, medan Atalja styrde i landet.
Therefore, he was with them, hidden in the house of God, for six years, while Athaliah reigned over the land.
