1 Samuels 16
1 Herren sagde til Samuel: «Kor lenge etlar du å syrgja yver Saul? Eg hev då vanda honom, so han skal ikkje vera konge yver Israel. Fyll hornet ditt med olje og gakk av stad! Eg vil senda deg til Isai i Betlehem. Ein av sønerne hans hev eg etla til konge.»
And he said Yahweh to Samuel until when? [are] you mourning to Saul and I I have rejected him from reigning over Israel fill horn your oil and go I will send you to Jesse [the] Beth-lehemite for I have seen among sons his for myself a king.
2 Samuel sagde: «Kor kann eg ganga dit? Fær Saul fretta det, drep han meg.» Herren svara: «Tak ei kviga med deg, so kann du segja: «Eg er komen og vil ofra til Herren.»
And he said Samuel how? will I go and he will hear Saul and he will kill me. And he said Yahweh a heifer of cattle you will take in hand your and you will say to sacrifice to Yahweh I have come.
3 So skal du beda Isai til offermåltidi, so skal eg lata deg vita det du skal gjera; og du skal salva åt meg den eg segjer.»
And you will invite Jesse at the sacrifice and I I will make known to you [that] which you will do and you will anoint for me [the one] whom I will say to you.
4 Samuel gjorde som Herren sagde: Då han kom til Betlehem, kom dei øvste i byen skjelvande imot honom og spurde: «Varslar det godt at du kjem?»
And he did Samuel [that] which he said Yahweh and he came Beth-lehem and they trembled [the] elders of the city to meet him and someone said [in] peace [are] coming? you.
5 Han svara: «Ja, eg kjem og vil ofra til Herren. Det lyt helga dykk, so det kann vera med meg ved offermåltidi!» Og han helga Isai og sønerne hans og bad deim vera med ved offermåltidi.
And he said - peace to sacrifice to Yahweh I have come consecrate yourselves and you will come with me at the sacrifice and he consecrated Jesse and sons his and he invited them to the sacrifice.
6 Då dei kom, og han fekk sjå Eliab, tenkte han: «Der stend visst framfor Herren den han salvar.»
And it was when came they and he saw Eliab and he said surely [is] before Yahweh anointed his.
7 Men Herren sagde til Samuel: «Skoda ikkje på kor han ser ut, kor stor og høg han er på vokster; for honom vil eg ikkje hava. Det munar ikkje det menneskja ser; menneskja ser på utsyni, men Herren ser på hjarta.»
And he said Yahweh to Samuel may not you look to appearance his and to [the] height of stature his for I have rejected him for - not [that] which he sees man for man he sees to the eyes and Yahweh he sees to the heart.
8 Då kalla Isai på Abinadab og let honom ganga fram for Samuel. Men han sagde: «Heller ikkje denne hev Herren valt seg ut.»
And he called Jesse to Abinadab and he made pass by him before Samuel and he said also this one not he has chosen Yahweh.
9 Isai let Samma ganga fram. Men han sagde: «Heller ikkje denne hev Herren valt.»
And he made pass by Jesse Shammah and he said also this one not he has chosen Yahweh.
10 Isai sju av sønerne ganga fram for Samuel. Men Samuel sagde til Isai: «Herren hev ikkje valt ut nokon av desse.»
And he made pass by Jesse seven of sons his before Samuel and he said Samuel to Jesse not he has chosen Yahweh these.
11 «Er dette alle gutarne dine?» spurde han Isai. Han svara: «Endå er den yngste att. Men han gjæter smalen.» «Send bod etter honom!» sagde Samuel med Isai; «for me vil ikkje setja oss til bords fyrr han kjem hit.»
And he said Samuel to Jesse ¿ are they finished the young men and he said still he remains the young [one] and there! [he is] shepherding the flock and he said Samuel to Jesse send! and bring him for not we will turn round until comes he here.
12 Då sende han bod etter honom. Han var raudleitt, hadde bjarte øugo, og var væn å sjå til. Og Herren sagde: «Ris upp og salva honom; han er det!»
And he sent and he brought him and he [was] red with beautiful of eyes and good of appearance. And he said Yahweh arise anoint him for this [is] he.
13 Då tok Samuel oljehornet og salva honom, so brørne hans såg på. Og Herrens Ande kom yver David frå den dagen og sidan. So stod Samuel upp og drog til Rama.
And he took Samuel [the] horn of oil and he anointed him in [the] midst of brothers his and it rushed [the] spirit of Yahweh to David from the day that and on-wards and he arose Samuel and he went Ramah towards.
14 Etter Herrens Ande hadde vike frå Saul, kom det ei vond ånd frå Herren yver honom i brårider.
And [the] spirit of Yahweh it departed from with Saul and it terrified him a spirit evil from with Yahweh.
15 Tenarane åt Saul sagde med honom: «Sjå, du fær brårider av ei vond ånd frå Gud.
And they said [the] servants of Saul to him here! please a spirit of God evil [is] terrifying you.
16 Herre, seg med tenarane dine som stend framfor deg, at dei leitar upp ein som kann leika på harpa! Når so den vonde åndi frå Gud kjem yver deg, kann han spela; då vil du besna.»
Let him say please lord our servants your before you let them seek a person [who] knows playing on the harp and it will be when is on you a spirit of God evil and he will play with hand his and good [will belong] to you.
17 Saul sagde då med tenarane sine: «Sjå dykk ut for meg ein mann som er god til å spela, og få honom hit til meg!»
And he said Saul to servants his see please for me a person [who] does well to play and you will bring [him] to me.
18 Ein av sveinarne svara: «Eg veit ein son åt Isai i Betlehem som kann spela, ein gjæv gut, våpndjerv, ordhag og fager. Herren er med honom.»
And he answered one from the young men and he said here! I have seen a son of Jesse [the] Beth-lehemite [who] knows to play and a mighty [man] of strength and a man of war and [one] discerning of word and a man of form and Yahweh [is] with him.
19 Saul sende då bod til Isai og bad honom: «Send hit til meg David, son din, han som er med smalen!»
And he sent Saul messengers to Jesse and he said send! to me David son your who [is] with the flock.
20 Isai tok då og klyvja eit asen med mat, ei vinhit og eit kid og sende til Saul med David, son sin.
And he took Jesse a donkey bread and a skin-bottle of wine and a kid of goats one and he sent [them] by [the] hand of David son his to Saul.
21 So kom David til Saul og vart tenaren hans. Han vart svært glad i honom og gjorde honom til våpnsveinen sin.
And he came David to Saul and he stood before him and he loved him exceedingly and he was of him bearer of armor.
22 Og Saul sende bod til Isai og bad: «Kjære, lat David stogga hjå meg! for eg hev fenge godvilje for honom.»
And he sent Saul to Jesse saying let him stand please David before me for he has found favor in view my.
23 So tidt åndi frå Gud kom yver Saul, so tok David harpa og leika på henne. Då letna det for Saul. Han besna, og den vonde åndi slepte honom.
And it was when was a spirit of God to Saul and he took David the harp and he played with hand his and it was relief to Saul and good [belonged] to him and it departed from on him [the] spirit of evil.
