1 Sønerne hans Levi var Gerson, Kehat og Merari.
The sons of Levi: Gershon, Kohath, and Merari.
2 Sønerne hans Kahat var Amram og Jishar og Hebron og Uzziel.
And the sons of Kohath: Amram, Izhar, Hebron, and Uzziel.
3 Og borni hans Amram var Aron og Moses og Mirjam. Og sønerne åt Aron var Nadab og Abihu, Eleazar og Itamar.
And the sons of Amram: Aaron and Moses and Miriam. And the sons of Aaron: Nadab and Abihu, Eleazar and Ithamar.
4 Eleazar fekk sonen Pinehas; Pinehas fekk sonen Abisua,
Eleazar was the father of Phinehas; Phinehas was the father of Abishua;
5 og Abisua fekk sonen Bukki, og Bukki fekk sonen Uzzi,
And Abishua was the father of Bukki, and Bukki was the father of Uzzi,
6 og Uzzi fekk sonen Zerahja, og Zerahja fekk sonen Merajot;
And Uzzi was the father of Zerahiah, and Zerahiah was the father of Meraioth;
7 Merajot fekk sonen Amarja, og Amarja fekk sonen Ahitub,
Meraioth was the father of Amariah, and Amariah was the father of Ahitub,
8 og Ahitub fekk sonen Sadok, og Sadok fekk sonen Ahima’as,
And Ahitub was the father of Zadok, and Zadok was the father of Ahimaaz,
9 og Ahima’as fekk sonen Azarja, og Azarja fekk sonen Johanan;
And Ahimaaz was the father of Azariah, and Azariah was the father of Johanan,
10 Johanan fekk sonen Azarja; det var han som var prest i det huset Salomo bygde i Jerusalem.
And Johanan was the father of Azariah, (he was priest in the house which Solomon put up in Jerusalem: )
11 Og Azarja fekk sonen Amarja, og Amarja fekk sonen Ahitub,
And Azariah was the father of Amariah, and Amariah was the father of Ahitub,
12 og Ahitub fekk sonen Sadok, og Sadok fekk sonen Sallum,
And Ahitub was the father of Zadok, and Zadok was the father of Shallum,
13 og Sallum fekk sonen Hilkia, og Hilkia fekk sonen Azarja,
And Shallum was the father of Hilkiah, and Hilkiah was the father of Azariah,
14 og Azarja fekk sonen Seraja, og Seraja fekk sonen Josadak.
And Azariah was the father of Seraiah, and Seraiah was the father of Jehozadak;
15 Men Josadak laut ganga med då Herren let Nebukadnessar føra Juda og Jerusalem i utlægd.
And Jehozadak went as a prisoner when the Lord took away Judah and Jerusalem by the hand of Nebuchadnezzar.
16 Sønerne åt Levi var Gerson, Kahat og Merari.
The sons of Levi; Gershom, Kohath, and Merari.
17 Og dette var namni på sønerne hans Gersom: Libni og Sime’i.
And these are the names of the sons of Gershom: Libni and Shimei.
18 Og sønerne hans Kahat var Amram og Jishar og Hebron og Uzziel.
And the sons of Kohath were Amram, Izhar, Hebron, and Uzziel.
19 Sønerne hans Merari var Mahli og Musi. Dette var levitætterne etter federne deira.
The sons of Merari: Mahli and Mushi. And these are the families of the Levites listed by the names of their fathers.

The sons of Kohath: Amminadab his son, Korah his son, Assir his son,
23 hans son Elkana, hans son Ebjasaf, hans son Assir;
Elkanah his son, and Ebiasaph his son, and Assir his son,
24 hans son Tahat, hans son Uriel, hans son Uzzia, og hans son Saul.
Tahath his son, Uriel his son, Uzziah his son, and Shaul his son.
25 Sønerne hans Elkana var Amasai og Ahimot.
And the sons of Elkanah: Amasai and Ahimoth.

27 hans son Eliab; hans son Jeroham; hans son var Elkana.

28 Sønerne hans Samuel var Vasni, som var eldst, og Abia.
And the sons of Samuel: the oldest Joel, and the second Abiah.
29 Son hans Merari var Mahli; hans son var Libni; hans son Sime’i; hans son Uzza;
The sons of Merari: Mahli, Libni his son, Shimei his son, Uzzah his son,
30 hans son Simea; hans son Haggia; hans son Asaja.
Shimea his son, Haggiah his son, Asaiah his son.

And these are those whom David made responsible for the music in the house of the Lord, after the ark had rest.

They gave worship with songs before the House of the Tent of meeting, till Solomon put up the house of the Lord in Jerusalem; and they took their places for their work in their regular order.

And these are those who did this work, and their sons. Of the sons of the Kohathites: Heman, who made melody, the son of Joel, the son of Samuel,

The son of Elkanah, the son of Jeroham, the son of Eliel, the son of Toah,
35 son åt Sif, son åt Elkana, son åt Mahat, son åt Amasai,
The son of Zuph, the son of Elkanah, the son of Mahath, the son of Amasai,
36 son åt Elkana, son åt Joel, son åt Azarja, son åt Sefanja,
The son of Elkanah, the son of Joel, the son of Azariah, the son of Zephaniah,
37 son åt Tahat, son åt Assir, son åt Ebjasaf, son åt Korah,
The son of Tahath, the son of Assir, the son of Ebiasaph, the son of Korah,
38 son åt Jishar, son åt Kahat, son åt Levi, son åt Israel.
The son of Izhar, the son of Kohath, the son of Levi, the son of Israel.

44 Og brørne deira, Merari-sønerne, stod på den vinstre sida: Etan, son åt Kisi, son åt Abdi, son åt Malluk,
And on the left their brothers, the sons of Merari: Ethan, the son of Kishi, the son of Abdi, the son of Malluch,
45 son åt Hasabja, son åt Amasja, son åt Hilkia,
The son of Hashabiah, the son of Amaziah, the son of Hilkiah,
46 son åt Amsi, son åt Bani, son åt Semer,
The son of Amzi, the son of Bani, the son of Shemer,
47 son åt Mahli, son åt Musi, son åt Merari, son åt Levi.
The son of Mahli, the son of Mushi, the son of Merari, the son of Levi.
48 Og brørne deira, levitarne, var sette til alt slag tenesta i huset, Guds hus.
And their brothers the Levites were responsible for all the work of the Tent of the house of God.
49 Men Aron og sønerne hans ofra på brennofferaltaret og på røykjelsealtaret og skulde greida alle gjeremål i det høgheilage romet og gjera soning for Israel, i alle måtar so som Moses, Guds tenar, hadde sagt fyre.
But Aaron and his sons made offerings on the altar of burned offering, and on the altar of perfume, for all the work of the most holy place, and to take away the sin of Israel, doing everything ordered by Moses, the servant of God.

And these are the sons of Aaron: Eleazar his son, Phinehas his son, Abishua his son,
51 hans son var Bukki; hans son var Uzzi; hans son var Zerahja;

52 hans son var Merajot; hans son var Amarja; hans son var Ahitub;
Meraioth his son, Amariah his son, Ahitub his son,
53 hans son var Sadok; hans son var Ahima’as.
Zadok his son, Ahimaaz his son.

Now these are their living-places, the limits inside which they were to put up their tents: to the sons of Aaron, of the families of the Kohathites, because they had the first selection,

To them they gave Hebron and its outskirts in the land of Judah;

But the open country of the town, and the small places round it, they gave to Caleb, the son of Jephunneh.

And to the sons of Aaron they gave Hebron, the town to which men might go in flight and be safe, and Libnah with its outskirts, and Jattir, and Eshtemoa with its outskirts,

59 og Asan og Bet-Semes, alle desse byarne med bumarki som høyrde til,
And Ashan with its outskirts, and Beth-shemesh with its outskirts;
60 og i Benjaminsfylket Geba og Allemet og Anatot med bumarki som høyrde til; det var i alt trettan byar etter ætterne deira.
And from the tribe of Benjamin: Geba with its outskirts, and Alemeth with its outskirts, and Anathoth with its outskirts. All their towns among their families were thirteen towns.
61 Og dei andre Kehats-sønerne gav dei ti byar i det eine halve Manassefylket, og let deim draga strå um deim.
And to the rest of the sons of Kohath there were given by the Lord's decision ten towns out of the families of the tribe of Ephraim and out of the tribe of Dan and out of the half-tribe of Manasseh.
62 Og Gersoms-sønerne og ættgreinene deira fekk trettan byar hjå Issakars-ætti, Assers-ætti, Naftali-ætti, og Manasse-ætti i Basan.
And to the sons of Gershom, by their families, out of the tribe of Issachar, and out of the tribe of Asher, and out of the tribe of Naphtali, and out of the tribe of Manasseh in Bashan, thirteen towns.
63 Merari-sønerne og ættgreinene deira fekk tolv byar hjå Rubens-ætti og Gads-ætti og Sebulons-ætti, og let deim draga strå um deim.
And to the sons of Merari, by their families, twelve towns were given by the Lord's decision, out of the tribe of Reuben, and out of the tribe of Gad, and out of the tribe of Zebulun.
64 Dess byarne med bumarki som høyrde til, gav Israels-sønerne åt levitarne.
And the children of Israel gave to the Levites the towns with their outskirts.
65 Dei gav deim desse byarne, som dei nemde på namn, i Judafylket, Simeonsfylket og i Benjaminsfylket, og let deim draga strå um deim.
And they gave by the Lord's decision out of the tribe of the children of Judah, and out of the tribe of the children of Simeon, and out of the tribe of the children of Benjamin, these towns whose names are given.
66 Og nokre av greinerne i Kahats-ætti fekk desse byarne i Efraimsfylket:
And to the families of the sons of Kohath were given towns by the Lord's decision out of the tribe of Ephraim.
67 Fredstaderne Sikem på Efraimsfjellet og Gezer
And they gave them the town to which men might go in flight and be safe, Shechem in the hill-country of Ephraim with its outskirts, and Gezer with its outskirts,
68 og Jokmeam og Bet-Horon
And Jokmeam with its outskirts, and Beth-horon with its outskirts,
69 og Ajjalon og Gat-Rimmon,
And Aijalon with its outskirts, and Gath-rimmon with its outskirts;
70 og i det eine halve Manassefylket Aner og Bileam, med bumarki som høyrde kvar by til. Dette fekk dei hine greinerne av Kahats-ætti.
And out of the half-tribe of Manasseh, Aner with its outskirts, and Bileam with its outskirts, for the rest of the family of the sons of Kohath.
71 Gersoms-sønerne fekk i det andre halve Manassefylket Golan i Basan og Astarot, med bumarki som høyrde til,
To the sons of Gershom were given, out of the family of the half-tribe of Manasseh, Golan in Bashan with its outskirts, and Ashtaroth with its outskirts;
72 og i Issakarsfylket Kedes og Dobrat
And out of the tribe of Issachar, Kedesh with its outskirts, and Daberath with its outskirts,
73 og Ramot og Anem, med bumarki som høyrde til,
And Ramoth with its outskirts, and Anem with its outskirts;
74 og i Assersfylket Masal og Abdon
And out of the tribe of Asher, Mashal with its outskirts, and Abdon with its outskirts,
75 og Hukok og Rehob, med bumarki som høyrde til,
And Hukok with its outskirts, and Rehob with its outskirts;
76 og i Naftalifylket Kedes i Galilæa, og Hammon og Kirjatajim, med bumarki som høyrde kvar by til.
And out of the tribe of Naphtali, Kedesh in Galilee with its outskirts, and Hammon with its outskirts, and Kiriathaim with its outskirts.
77 Dei hine Merari-sønerne fekk i Sebulonsfylket Rimmono og Tabor, med bumarki som høyrde til,
To the rest of the Levites, the sons of Merari, were given, out of the tribe of Zebulun, Rimmono with its outskirts, Tabor with its outskirts;
78 og på hi sida Jordan ved Jeriko, austanfor Jordan, fekk dei i Rubensfylket Beser i øydemarki og Jahsa
And on the other side of Jordan, at Jericho, on the east side of Jordan, were given them, out of the tribe of Reuben, Bezer in the waste land with its outskirts, and Jahzah with its outskirts,
79 og Kedemot og Mefa’at, med bumarki som høyrde til,
And Kedemoth with its outskirts, and Mephaath with its outskirts;
80 og i Gadsfylket Ramot i Gilead og Mahanajim
And out of the tribe of Gad, Ramoth in Gilead with its outskirts, and Mahanaim with its outskirts,
81 og Hesbon og Jazer, med bumarki som høyrde til.
And Heshbon with its outskirts, and Jazer with its outskirts.
