1 Og David og herhovdingarne skilde ut til gudstenesta sønerne åt Asaf og Heman og Jedutun, som med profetisk eldhug spela på cithrar og harpor og cymblar, og dette er lista på dei mennerne som skulde hadde hava dette gjeremålet:
David and the leaders of the Levites chose men from the families of Asaph, Heman, and Jeduthun to serve by prophesying accompanied by lyres, harps, and cymbals. Here is the list of those who performed this service:
2 Av Asafs-sønerne Zakkur og Josef og Netanja og Asarela, Asafs-sønerne med rettleiding av Asaf, som spela med profetisk eldhug etter tilskiping av kongen;
From the sons of Asaph: Zaccur, Joseph, Nethaniah, and Asarelah. These sons of Asaph were under the supervision of Asaph, who prophesied under the supervision of the king.
3 Av Jedutun: Jedutuns-sønerne Gedalja, Seri og Jesaja, Hasabja og Mattitja, seks mann, med rettleiding av Jedutun, far deira, som med profetisk eldhug spela takkesongar og lovsongar åt Herren.
From the sons of Jeduthun: Gedaliah, Zeri, Jeshaiah, Shimei, Hashabiah, and Mattithiah, six in total, under the supervision of their father Jeduthun, who prophesied accompanied by the harp, giving thanks and praise to the Lord.
4 Av Heman: Hemans-sønerne Bukkia, Mattanja, Uzziel, Sebuel og Jerimot, Hananja, Hanani, Eliata, Giddalti, Romamti-Ezer, Josbekasa, Malloti, Hotir, Mahaziot.
From the sons of Heman: Bukkiah, Mattaniah, Uzziel, Shebuel, Jerimoth, Hananiah, Hanani, Eliathah, Giddalti, Romamti-ezer, Joshbekashah, Mallothi, Hothir, and Mahazioth.
5 Alle desse var søner åt Heman, som var kongens sjåar, etter den lovnaden gud hadde gjeve, at han vilde hevja upp hornet hans; difor gav Gud Heman fjortan søner og tri døtter.
All these sons of Heman, the king's seer, were given to him through the promises of God to honor him, for God gave Heman fourteen sons and three daughters.
6 Alle desse, kvar med sin far til rettleidar, greidde med songen i Herrens hus, med cymblar, harpor og cithrar, og gjorde soleis tenesta i Guds hus; kongen, Asaf, Jedutun og Heman rettleide dem.
All of them were under the supervision of their fathers for the music of the house of the LORD with cymbals, harps, and lyres, for the service of the house of God. Asaph, Jeduthun, and Heman were under the supervision of the king.
7 Og talet på deim og frendarne deira, som var upplærde i songen for Herren, alle dei kunnige, det tvo hundrad og åtte og åtteti.
Along with their relatives, all of them trained and skilled in singing to the LORD, they totaled 288.
8 Og dei drog strå um kva dei skulde gjera, alle saman, den minste som den største, læraren som læresveinen.
They cast lots for whatever responsibility they had, the least important equal to the most important, the teacher to the student.
9 Og den fyrste luten fall på Asaf, det vil segja på Josef; den andre vart Gedalja, han sjølv med brørne og sønerne sine, tolv i talet;
The first lot, which was for Asaph, fell to Joseph, his sons, and his brother, 12 in total. The second fell to Gedaliah, his sons, and his brothers, 12 in total.
10 den tridje vart Zakkur, han og sønerne og brørne hans, tolv i talet;
The third fell to Zaccur, his sons, and his brothers, 12 in total.
11 den fjorde luten fall på Jisri med sønerne og brørne hans, tolv i talet;
The fourth fell to Izri, his sons, and his brothers, 12 in total.
12 den femte vart Netanja med sønerne og brørne hans, tolv i talet;
The fifth to Nethaniah, his sons and his brothers, 12 in total.
13 den sette vart Bukkia og sønerne og brørne hans, tolv i talet;
The sixth fell to Bukkiah, his sons and his brothers, 12 in total.
14 den sjuande vart Jesarela og sønerne og brørne hans, tolv i talet;
The seventh fell to Jesarelah, his sons and his brothers, 12 in total.
