1 En salme av David. Gi Herren, I Guds sønner, gi Herren ære og makt!

A Melody of David. Give to Yahweh, ye sons of the mighty, —Give to Yahweh, [both] glory and strength:

2 Gi Herren hans navns ære, tilbed Herren i hellig prydelse!

Give to Yahweh, the glory of his Name, Bow down to Yahweh, in the adornment of holiness.

3 Herrens røst er over vannene, ærens Gud tordner, Herren over de store vann.

The voice of Yahweh, is upon the waters, —The GOD of glory, hath thundered, Yahweh, is upon mighty waters;

4 Herrens røst lyder med kraft, Herrens røst med herlighet.

The voice of Yahweh, is with power, The voice of Yahweh, is with majesty;

5 Herrens røst bryter sedrer, Herren sønderbryter Libanons sedrer,

The voice of Yahweh, is breaking cedars, Now hath Yahweh, broken down, the cedars of Lebanon!

6 og han får dem til å hoppe som en kalv, Libanon og Sirjon som en ung villokse.

And hath made them leap like a calf, Lebanon and Sirion, like the bull-calf of wild-oxen;

7 Herrens røst slynger ut kløvede ildsluer.

The voice of Yahweh, is cleaving out flames of fire;

8 Herrens røst får ørkenen til å beve, Herren får Kades' ørken til å beve.

The voice of Yahweh, bringeth birth-pains upon the wilderness; Yahweh bringeth birth-pains upon the wilderness of Kadesh!

9 Herrens røst får hindene til å føde og gjør skogene bare, og i hans tempel sier alt: Ære!

The voice of Yahweh, causeth the gazelles to bring forth, and hath stript forests; and, in his own temple, every one there, is saying, Glory!

10 Herren tronte på vannflommens tid, og Herren troner som konge evindelig.

Yahweh, at the Flood, was seated, And Yahweh hath taken his seat, as king, unto times age-abiding.

11 Herren skal gi sitt folk kraft, Herren skal velsigne sitt folk med fred.

Yahweh, will give, strength to his people, —Yahweh, will bless his people with prosperity.
