Salmenes 26

1 Av David. Hjelp mig til min rett, Herre! for jeg har vandret i min uskyld, og på Herren stoler jeg uten å vakle.

Unto the end, a psalm for David. Judge me, O Lord, for I have walked in my innocence: and I have put my trust in the Lord, and shall not be weakened.

2 Prøv mig, Herre, og gransk mig, ransak mine nyrer og mitt hjerte!

Prove me, O Lord, and try me; burn my reins and my heart.

3 For din miskunnhet er for mine øine, og jeg vandrer i din trofasthet.

For thy mercy is before my eyes; and I am well pleased with thy truth.

4 Jeg sitter ikke hos løgnere og kommer ikke sammen med listige folk.

I have not sat with the council of vanity: neither will I go in with the doers of unjust things.

5 Jeg hater de ondes forsamling og sitter ikke hos de ugudelige.

I have hated the assembly of the malignant; and with the wicked I will not sit.

6 Jeg tvetter mine hender i uskyld og vil gjerne ferdes om ditt alter, Herre,

I will wash my hands among the innocent; and will compass thy altar, O Lord:

7 for å synge med lovsangs røst og fortelle alle dine undergjerninger.

That I may hear the voice of thy praise: and tell of all thy wondrous works.

8 Herre, jeg elsker ditt huses bolig, det sted hvor din herlighet bor.

I have loved, O Lord, the beauty of thy house; and the place where thy glory dwelleth.

9 Rykk ikke min sjel bort med syndere eller mitt liv med blodgjerrige menn,

Take not away my soul, O God, with the wicked: nor my life with bloody men:

10 som har skam i sine hender og sin høire hånd full av bestikkelse!

In whose hands are iniquities: their right hand is filled with gifts.

11 Men jeg vandrer i min uskyld; forløs mig og vær mig nådig!

But as for me, I have walked in my innocence: redeem me, and have mercy on me.

12 Min fot står på jevn jord; i forsamlingene skal jeg love Herren.

My foot hath stood in the direct way: in the churches I will bless thee, O Lord.
