1 Av David; en salme. Jorden hører Herren til - og alt det som fyller den, jorderike og de som bor der.

A Psalm for David on the first day of the week. A Psalm for David on the first day of the week. The earth is the Lord's and the fullness thereof; the world, and all that dwell in it.

2 For han har grunnlagt den på hav og stilt den fast på strømmer.

He has founded it upon the seas, and prepared it upon the rivers.

3 Hvem skal stige op på Herrens berg, og hvem skal stå på hans hellige sted?

Who shall go up to the mountain of the Lord, and who shall stand in his holy place?

4 Den som har uskyldige hender og et rent hjerte, som ikke har vendt sin hu til løgn og ikke har svoret falskelig.

He that is innocent in his hands and pure in his heart; who has not lifted up his soul to vanity, nor sworn deceitfully to his neighbor.

5 Han skal motta velsignelse fra Herren og rettferdighet fra sin frelses Gud.

He shall receive a blessing from the Lord, and mercy from God his Saviour.

6 Dette er deres ætt som spør efter ham, de som søker ditt åsyn, Jakobs barn. (Sela)

This is the generation of them that seek him, that seek the face of the God of Jacob. (Pause)

7 Løft, I porter, eders hoder, og løft eder, I evige dører, så herlighetens konge kan dra inn!

Lift up your gates, you princes, and be you lifted up, you everlasting doors; and the king of glory shall come in.

8 Hvem er den herlighetens konge? Herren, sterk og veldig, Herren veldig i strid.

Who is this king of Glory? the Lord strong and mighty, the Lord mighty in battle.

9 Løft, I porter, eders hoder, og løft eder, I evige dører, så herlighetens konge kan dra inn!

Lift up your gates, you princes; and be you lift up, you everlasting doors; and the king of glory shall come in.

10 Hvem er den herlighetens konge? Herren, hærskarenes Gud, han er herlighetens konge. (Sela)

Who is this king of glory? The Lord of hosts, he is this king of glory.
