Salmenes 149

1 Halleluja! Syng Herren en ny sang, hans pris i de frommes forsamling!

Praise ye the LORD! Sing unto the LORD a new song; His praise in the assembly of the godly!

2 Israel glede sig i sin skaper, Sions barn fryde sig i sin konge!

Let Israel rejoice in him that made him; Let the sons of Zion be joyful in their king!

3 De skal love hans navn med dans, lovsynge ham til pauke og citar.

Let them praise his name in the dance; Let them praise him with the timbrel and harp!

4 For Herren har behag i sitt folk, han pryder de saktmodige med frelse.

For the LORD taketh pleasure in his people; He will beautify the distressed with salvation.

5 De fromme skal fryde sig i herlighet, de skal juble på sitt leie.

Let the godly-rejoice in their glory; Let them shout for joy upon their beds!

6 Lovsang for Gud er i deres munn og et tveegget sverd i deres hånd,

Let the praises of God be in their mouth, And a two-edged sword in their hand,

7 for å fullbyrde hevn over hedningene, straff over folkene,

To execute vengeance upon the nations, And punishment upon the peoples!

8 for å binde deres konger med lenker og deres fornemme menn med jernbånd,

To bind their kings with chains. And their nobles with fetters of iron;

9 for å fullbyrde foreskreven straffedom over dem. Dette er en ære for alle hans fromme. Halleluja!

To execute upon them the sentence which is written: This honor have all his godly ones. Praise ye the LORD!
