Salmenes 11

1 Til sangmesteren; av David. Til Herren tar jeg min tilflukt; hvorledes kan I da si til min sjel: Fly til eders fjell som en fugl?

I trust that Yahweh will protect [MTY] me. So do not [RHQ] say to me, “You need to escape/flee to the mountains like birds do,

2 For se, de ugudelige spenner buen, de legger sin pil på strengen for å skyte i mørket på de opriktige av hjertet.

because wicked people have hidden in the darkness, they have pulled back their bowstrings and aimed their arrows to shoot them at godly/righteous [IDM] people [like you].

3 Når grunnvollene nedbrytes, hvad makter da den rettferdige?

When people are not punished for disobeying the laws, (what can righteous people do?/there is not much that righteous people can do.)” [RHQ]

4 Herren er i sitt hellige tempel, Herrens trone er i himmelen, hans øine skuer, hans blikk prøver menneskenes barn.

But Yahweh is sitting on his throne in his sacred temple in heaven, and he [SYN] watches everything that people do.

5 Herren prøver den rettferdige; men den ugudelige og den som elsker vold, hater hans sjel.

Yahweh examines what righteous people do and what wicked people do, and he hates those who like to perform violent actions [to injure others].

6 Han lar snarer regne ned over de ugudelige; ild og svovel og glødende vind er deres begers del.

He will send down [from the sky] flaming coals and burning sulfur, and send scorching hot winds to punish wicked people.

7 For Herren er rettferdig, elsker rettferdighet; på den opriktige ser hans åsyn.

Yahweh is righteous and he loves those who act righteously; righteous people are able to come into his presence.
