4 Mosebok 3

1 Dette var Arons og Moses' ætt på den tid Herren talte med Moses på Sinai berg.

And these are the generations of Aaron and Moses, on the day that the Lord spoke with Moses on mount Sinai.

2 Navnene på Arons sønner var: Nadab, som var den førstefødte, dernæst Abihu, Eleasar og Itamar.

And these are the names of the sons of Aaron: the firstborn Nadab, and Abihu, Elazar, and Ithamar.

3 Dette var navnene på Arons sønner, de salvede prester, som var innvidd til å gjøre prestetjeneste.

These are the names of the sons of Aaron, the priests that were anointed, who were consecrated to minister as priests.

4 Men Nadab og Abihu døde for Herrens åsyn, dengang de bar fremmed ild inn for Herrens åsyn i Sinai ørken, og de hadde ingen sønner; siden utførte Eleasar og Itamar prestetjenesten for Arons, sin fars øine.

And Nadab and Abihu died before the Lord, when they offered a strange fire before the Lord, in the wilderness of Sinai, and they had no children: and Elazar and Ithamar ministered as priests in the life-time of Aaron their father.

5 Og Herren talte til Moses og sa:

And the Lord spoke unto Moses, saying,

6 La Levi stamme komme hit og still den frem for Aron, presten, så de kan tjene ham.

Bring the tribe of Levi near, and present the same before Aaron the priest, that they may serve him.

7 Og de skal ta vare på det han og hele menigheten skulde varetatt foran sammenkomstens telt, og således utføre tjenesten ved tabernaklet.

And they shall keep his charge, and the charge of the whole congregation before the tent of the congregation, to do the service of the tabernacle.

8 Og de skal ta vare på alt som hører til sammenkomstens telt, og på det som Israels barn skulde varetatt; og således skal de utføre tjenesten ved tabernaklet.

And they shall keep all the vessels of the tent of the congregation, and the charge of the children of Israel, to do the service of the tabernacle.

9 Du skal gi levittene til Aron og hans sønner; blandt Israels barn skal de være helt overgitt til ham.

And thou shalt give the Levites unto Aaron and to his sons: as associates are they given unto him out of the children of Israel.

10 Men Aron og hans sønner skal du sette til å ta vare på sin prestetjeneste; kommer en fremmed nær til, skal han late livet.

And Aaron and his sons shalt thou instruct, that they shall guard well their priest's office; and the stranger that cometh nigh shall be put to death.

11 Og Herren talte til Moses og sa:

And the Lord spoke unto Moses, saying,

12 Se, jeg har tatt levittene ut blandt Israels barn i stedet for alle førstefødte, dem som åpner morsliv blandt Israels barn, forat levittene skal høre mig til.

And I, behold, I have taken the Levites from the midst of the children of Israel instead of every first-born that openeth the womb among the children of Israel; and the Levites shall be mine.

13 For mig hører alt førstefødt til; den dag jeg slo alt førstefødt i Egyptens land, helliget jeg mig alt som førstefødt er i Israel, både folk og fe; de skal høre mig til, mig, Herren.

Because mine is every first-born; on the day when I smote every first-born in the land of Egypt I hallowed unto me every first-born in Israel, both man and beast: mine shall they be; I am the Lord.

14 Og Herren talte til Moses i Sinai ørken og sa:

And the Lord spoke unto Moses in the wilderness of Sinai, saying,

15 Du skal mønstre Levis barn efter deres familier og ætter! Alt mannkjønn, fra den som er en måned gammel, og opover, skal du mønstre.

Number the children of Levi after their divisions, by their families; every male of them from a month old and upward shalt thou number.

16 Så mønstret Moses dem efter Herrens ord, som det var befalt ham.

And Moses numbered them according to the order of the Lord, as he had been commanded.

17 Navnene på Levis sønner var: Gerson og Kahat og Merari.

And these were the sons of Levi by their names: Gershon, and Kehath, and Merari.

18 Og navnene på Gersons sønner efter deres ætter var: Libni og Sime'i.

And these are the names of the sons of Gershon after their families: Libni, and Shimi.

19 Og Kahats sønner efter sine ætter var Amram og Jishar, Hebron og Ussiel.

And the sons of Kehath after their families: 'Amram, and Yizhar, Chebron, and 'Uzziel.

20 Og Meraris sønner efter sine ætter var Mahli og Musi. Dette var Levis ætter med sine familier.

And the sons of Merari after their families: Machli, and Mushi; these are the families of the Levites according to their family divisions.

21 Til Gerson hørte libnittenes ætt og sime'ittenes ætt; dette var gersonittenes ætter.

Of Gershon: the family of the Libnites, and the family of the Shimites; these are the families of the Gershunites.

22 De av dem som blev mønstret, idet der blev tatt tall på alt mannkjønn, fra den som var en måned gammel, og opover, var syv tusen og fem hundre.

Those that were numbered of them, by the numbering of all the males from a month old and upward, even those that were numbered of them, were seven thousand and five hundred.

23 Gersonittenes ætter hadde sin leir bak tabernaklet, mot vest.

The families of the Gershunites used to encamp behind the tabernacle, westward.

24 Og høvdingen for gersonittenes familie var Eljasaf, Laels sønn.

And the prince of the family division of the Gershunites was Elyassaph the son of Lael.

25 Og det som Gersons barn hadde å ta vare på ved sammenkomstens telt, var selve tabernaklet med dekke og varetak og dekket for inngangen til sammenkomstens telt,

And the charge of the sons of Gershon in the tabernacle of the congregation was the tabernacle and the tent, its covering, and the hanging for the door of the tabernacle of the congregation,

26 og omhengene til forgården og forhenget for inngangen til forgården som er rundt om tabernaklet og alteret, og dets snorer og alt arbeidet derved.

And the hangings of the court, and the curtain for the door of the court, which is by the tabernacle and by the altar, round about, and its cords for all the service thereof.

27 Til Kahat hørte amramittenes ætt og jisharittenes ætt og hebronittenes ætt og ussielittenes ætt; dette var kahatittenes ætter.

And of Kehath: the family of the 'Amramites, and the family of the Yizharites, and the family of the Chebronites, and the family of the 'Uzzielites; these are the families of the Kehathites.

28 Da der blev tatt tall på alt mannkjønn, fra den som var en måned gammel, og opover, var de åtte tusen og seks hundre mann, som skulde ta vare på det som var å vareta ved helligdommen.

By the numbering of all the males, from a month old and upward, they were eight thousand and six hundred, keeping the charge of the sanctuary.

29 Kahats barns ætter hadde sin leir ved siden av tabernaklet mot syd.

The families of the sons of Kehath used to encamp on the side of the tabernacle, southward.

30 Og høvdingen for Kahat-ættenes familie var Elisafan, Ussiels sønn.

And the prince of the division of the families of the Kehathites was Elizaphan the son of 'Uzziel.

31 Og det de hadde å ta vare på, var arken og bordet og lysestaken og alterne og helligdommens redskaper som bruktes ved tjenesten, og forhenget og alt arbeidet derved.

And their charge was the ark, and the table, and the candlestick, and the altars, and the vessels of the sanctuary which are used for the service, and the vail, and all belonging thereto.

32 Men den øverste høvding for levittene var Eleasar, sønn til Aron, presten; han var satt over dem som skulde ta vare på det som var å vareta ved helligdommen.

And the chief over the princes of the Levites was Elazar the son of Aaron the priest, having the oversight of those that kept the charge of the sanctuary.

33 Til Merari hørte mahlittenes ætt og musittenes ætt; dette var merarittenes ætter.

Of Merari: the family of the Machlites, and the family of the Mushites; these are the families of Merari.

34 De av dem som blev mønstret, idet der blev tatt tall på alt mannkjønn, fra dén som var en måned gammel, og opover, var seks tusen og to hundre.

And those that were numbered of them, by the numbering of all the males, from a month old and upward, were six thousand and two hundred.

35 Og høvdingen for Merariættenes familie var Suriel, Abiha'ils sønn; de hadde sin leir ved siden av tabernaklet mot nord.

And the chief of the division of the families of Merari was Zuriel the son of Abichayil: they used to encamp on the side of the tabernacle, northward.

36 Og det som Meraris barn var satt til å ta vare på, var tabernaklets planker og dets tverrstenger og dets stolper og dets fotstykker og alt som hørte til, og alt arbeidet derved

And under the custody and charge of the sons of Merari were the boards of the tabernacle, and its bars, and its pillars, and its sockets, and all its vessels, and all that belongeth thereto,

37 og stolpene til forgården rundt omkring og fotstykkene og pluggene og snorene som hørte til.

And the pillars of the court round about, and their sockets, and their pins, and their cords.

38 Men foran tabernaklet, mot øst, foran sammenkomstens telt, mot solens opgang, hadde Moses og Aron og hans sønner sin leir, og de tok vare på det som var å vareta ved helligdommen, det som Israels barn skulde varetatt; men kom en fremmed nær til, skulde han late livet.

But those that encamped before the tabernacle toward the east, even before the tabernacle of the congregation toward the rising of the sun, were Moses, and Aaron, and his sons, keeping the charge of the sanctuary for the charge of the children of Israel; and the stranger that came nigh was to be put to death.

39 Alle de av levittene som blev mønstret, de som Moses og Aron mønstret efter Herrens ord, ætt for ætt, alt mannkjønn, fra den som var en måned gammel, og opover, var to og tyve tusen.

All that were numbered of the Levites, whom Moses numbered with Aaron, at the order of the Lord, according to their families, all the males from a month old and upward, were twenty and two thousand.

40 Og Herren sa til Moses: Du skal mønstre alle førstefødte av mannkjønn blandt Israels barn, fra den som er en måned gammel, og opover, og føre deres navn inn i manntallet.

And the Lord said unto Moses, Number all the first-born males of the children of Israel from a month old and upward, and take the number of their names.

41 Og så skal du la mig, Herren, få levittene i stedet for alle førstefødte blandt Israels barn, og levittenes fe i stedet for alt førstefødt blandt Israels barns fe.

And thou shalt take the Levites for me, I am the Lord, instead of all the first-born among the children of Israel; and the cattle of the Levites instead of all the first-born among the cattle of the children of Israel.

42 Da mønstret Moses alle førstefødte blandt Israels barn, således som Herren hadde befalt ham.

And Moses numbered, as the Lord had commanded him, all the first-born among the children of Israel.

43 Og da han tok tall på alle førstefødte av mannkjønn og skrev op deres navn, fra den som var en måned gammel, og opover, var de, så mange som blev mønstret, to og tyve tusen, to hundre og tre og sytti.

And all the first-born males, by the numbering of the names, from a month old and upward, of those that were numbered of them, were twenty and two thousand two hundred and seventy and three.

44 Og Herren talte til Moses og sa:

And the Lord spoke unto Moses, saying,

45 Du skal ta levittene i stedet for alle førstefødte blandt Israels barn og levittenes fe i stedet for deres fe; og levittene skal høre mig til, mig, Herren.

Take the Levites instead of all the first-born among the children of Israel, and the cattle of the Levites instead of their cattle; and the Levites shall be mine: I am the Lord.

46 Men som løsepenger for de to hundre og tre og sytti førstefødte av Israels barn som overskrider levittenes tall,

And [for] those that are to be redeemed, the two hundred and seventy and three of the first-born of the children of Israel, who are more than the Levites,

47 skal du ta fem sekel for hver; efter helligdommens sekel skal du ta dem, sekelen regnet til tyve gera.

Thou shalt take five shekels apiece for the poll; after the shekel of the sanctuary shalt thou take, twenty gerahs to the shekel;

48 Og du skal gi Aron og hans sønner disse penger som løsepenger for de overtallige blandt dem.

And thou shalt give unto Aaron and to his sons the money, [for] those who are to be redeemed of those that are over the number of them.

49 Så tok Moses løsepengene for dem som overskred deres tall som blev utløst ved levittene;

And Moses took the redemption-money of those that were over in number above those who were redeemed by the Levites:

50 av Israels barns førstefødte fikk han pengene, et tusen, tre hundre og fem og seksti sekel efter helligdommens sekel.

Of the first-born of the children of Israel did he take the money; a thousand three hundred and sixty and five shekels, after the shekel of the sanctuary.

51 Og Moses gav Aron og hans sønner løsepengene efter Herrens ord, således som Herren hadde befalt Moses.

And Moses gave the money of those who were redeemed unto Aaron and unto his sons, by the order of the Lord; as the Lord had commanded Moses.
