1 Og Herren talte til Moses i Sinai ørken i sammenkomstens telt på den første dag i den annen måned i det annet år efterat de var gått ut av Egyptens land, og sa:
And the Lord spoke to Moses in the wilderness of Sina, in the tabernacle of witness, on the first day of the second month, in the second year of their departure from the land of Egypt, saying,

Take the sum of all the congregation of Israel according to their kindred, according to the houses of their fathers' families, according to their number by their names, according to their heads: every male

from twenty years old and upwards, every one that goes forth in the forces of Israel, take account of them with their strength; you and Aaron take account of them.

And with you there shall be each one of the rulers according to the tribe of each: they shall be according to the houses of their families.

Of Zabulon, Eliab the son of Chaelon.
10 for Josefs sønner, for Efra'im: Elisama, Ammihuds sønn, for Manasse: Gamliel, Pedasurs sønn,
Of the sons of Joseph, of Ephraim, Elisama the son of Emiud: of Manasses, Gamaliel the son of Phadasur.
11 for Benjamin: Abidan, Gideonis sønn,
Of Benjamin, Abidan the son of Gadeoni.
12 for Dan: Akieser, Ammisaddais sønn,
Of Dan, Achiezer the son of Amisadai.
13 for Aser: Pagiel, Okrans sønn,
Of Aser, Phagaiel the son of Echran.
14 for Gad: Eljasaf, De'uels sønn,
Of Gad, Elisaph the son of Raguel.
15 for Naftali: Akira, Enans sønn.
Of Nephthali, Achire the son of Aenan.

These were famous men of the congregation, heads of the tribes according to their families: these are heads of thousands in Israel.

as the Lord commanded Moses, so they were numbered in the wilderness of Sina.
20 Efterkommerne av Rubens sønner - han som var Israels førstefødte - opskrevet efter sine ætter og familier, med sine navn, en for en, alt mannkjønn fra tyveårsalderen og opover, alle som kunde dra ut i krig,
And the sons of Ruben the firstborn of Israel according to their kindred, according to their divisions, according to the houses of their families, according to the number of their names, according to their heads, were—all males from twenty years old and upward, every one that went out with the host—
21 så mange som blev mønstret av Rubens stamme, var seks og firti tusen og fem hundre.
the numbering of them of the tribe of Ruben, was forty-six thousand and four hundred.
22 Efterkommerne av Simeons sønner, opskrevet efter sine ætter og familier, med sine navn, så mange av dem som blev mønstret, en for en, alt mannkjønn fra tyveårsalderen og opover, alle som kunde dra ut i krig,
For the children of Symeon according to their kindred, according to their divisions, according to the houses of their families, according to the number of their names, according to their polls, all males from twenty years old and upward, every one that goes out with the host,
23 så mange som blev mønstret av Simeons stamme, var ni og femti tusen og tre hundre.
the numbering of them of the tribe of Symeon, was fifty-nine thousand and three hundred.
24 Efterkommerne av Gads sønner, opskrevet efter sine ætter og familier, med sine navn, fra tyveårsalderen og opover, alle som kunde dra ut i krig,
For the sons of Juda according to their kindred, according to their divisions, according to the houses of their families, according to the number of their names, according to their polls, all males from twenty years old and upward, every one that goes forth with the host,
25 så mange som blev mønstret av Gads stamme, var fem og firti tusen, seks hundre og femti.
the numbering of them of the tribe of Juda, was seventy-four thousand and six hundred.
26 Efterkommerne av Judas sønner, opskrevet efter sine ætter og familier, med sine navn, fra tyveårsalderen og opover, alle som kunde dra ut i krig,
For the sons of Issachar according to their kindred, according to their divisions, according to the houses of their families, according to the number of their names, according to their polls, all males from twenty years old and upward, every one that goes forth with the host,
27 så mange som blev mønstret av Juda stamme, var fire og sytti tusen og seks hundre.
the numbering of them of the tribe of Issachar, was fifty-four thousand and four hundred.

29 så mange som blev mønstret av Issakars stamme, var fire og femti tusen og fire hundre.
the numbering of them of the tribe of Zabulon, was fifty-seven thousand and four hundred.

the numbering of them of the tribe of Manasse, was thirty-two thousand and two hundred.

35 så mange som blev mønstret av Manasse stamme, var to og tretti tusen og to hundre.
the numbering of them of the tribe of Benjamin, was thirty-five thousand and four hundred.

the numbering of them of the tribe of Dan, was sixty and two thousand and seven hundred.
40 Efterkommerne av Asers sønner, opskrevet efter sine ætter og familier, med sine navn, fra tyveårsalderen og opover, alle som kunde dra ut i krig,

41 så mange som blev mønstret av Asers stamme, var en og firti tusen og fem hundre.
the numbering of them of the tribe of Aser, was forty and one thousand and five hundred.
42 Efterkommerne av Naftalis sønner, opskrevet efter sine ætter og familier, med sine navn, fra tyveårsalderen og opover, alle som kunde dra ut i krig,
For the sons of Nephthali according to their kindred, according to their divisions, according to the houses of their families, according to the number of their names, according to their polls, every male from twenty years old and upward, every one who goes forth with the host,
43 så mange som blev mønstret av Naftali stamme, var tre og femti tusen og fire hundre.
the numbering of them of the tribe of Nephthali, was fifty-three thousand and four hundred.
44 Dette var de som blev mønstret, de som Moses og Aron og Israels høvdinger mønstret, og høvdingene var tolv i tallet, en for hver stamme.
This is the numbering which Moses and Aaron and the rulers of Israel, being twelve men, conducted: there was a man for each tribe, they were according to the tribe of the houses of their family.
45 Og alle de av Israels barn som blev mønstret efter sine familier, fra tyveårsalderen og opover, alle i Israel som kunde dra ut i krig,
And the whole numbering of the children of Israel with their host from twenty years old and upward, every one that goes out to set himself in battle array in Israel, came to
46 så mange som blev mønstret, var seks hundre og tre tusen, fem hundre og femti;
six hundred thousand and three thousand and five hundred and fifty.
47 Men levittene efter sin fedrenestamme blev ikke mønstret sammen med dem.
But the Levites of the tribe of their family were not counted amongst the children of Israel.
48 For Herren talte til Moses og sa:
And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying,
49 Bare Levi stamme skal du ikke mønstre, og over dem skal du ikke opta manntall sammen med de andre Israels barn.
See, you shall not muster the tribe of Levi, and you shall not take their numbers, in the midst of the children of Israel.
50 Men du skal sette levittene over vidnesbyrdets tabernakel og over alle dets redskaper og over alt som hører til; de skal bære tabernaklet og alle dets redskaper, og de skal tjene ved tabernaklet og leire sig rundt omkring det.
And do you set the Levites over the tabernacle of witness, and over all its furniture, and over all things that are in it; and they shall do service in it, and they shall encamp round about the tabernacle.
51 Når tabernaklet skal bryte op, skal levittene ta det ned, og når tabernaklet skal leire sig, skal levittene reise det op; kommer nogen fremmed;
And in removing the tabernacle, the Levites shall take it down, and in pitching the tabernacle they shall set it up: and let the stranger that advances [to touch it] die.
52 Israels barn skal leire sig, hver i sin leir og hver ved sitt banner, hær for hær.
And the children of Israel shall encamp, every man in his own order, and every man according to his company, with their host.
53 Men levittene skal leire sig rundt omkring vidnesbyrdets tabernakel, forat det ikke skal komme vrede over Israels barns menighet; og levittene skal ta vare på det som er å vareta ved vidnesbyrdets tabernakel.
But let the Levites encamp round about the tabernacle of witness fronting it, and [so] there shall be no sin amongst the children of Israel; and the Levites themselves shall keep the guard of the tabernacle of witness.

And the children of Israel did according to all that the Lord commanded Moses and Aaron, so did they.
