Matteus 1
1 Jesu Kristi, Davids sønns, Abrahams sønns ættetavle:
The book of the generation of Jesus Christ, the son of David, the son of Abraham.
2 Abraham fikk sønnen Isak; Isak fikk sønnen Jakob; Jakob fikk Juda og hans brødre;
Abraham brings forth Isaac; and Isaac brings forth Jacob; and Jacob brings forth Judas and his brethren;
3 Juda fikk sønnene Peres og Serah med Tamar; Peres fikk sønnen Hesron; Hesron fikk sønnen Ram;
And Judas brings forth Phares and Zara of Thamar; and Phares brings forth Esrom; and Esrom brings forth Aram;
4 Ram fikk sønnen Aminadab; Aminadab fikk sønnen Nahson; Nahson fikk sønnen Salmon;
And Aram brings forth Aminadab; and Aminadab brings forth Naasson; and Naasson brings forth Salmon;
5 Salmon fikk sønnen Boas med Rahab; Boas fikk sønnen Obed med Rut; Obed fikk sønnen Isai;
And Salmon brings forth Booz of Rachab; and Booz brings forth Obed of Ruth; and Obed brings forth Jesse;
6 Isai var far til kong David. David fikk sønnen Salomo med Urias hustru;
And Jesse brings forth David the king; and David the king brings forth Solomon of her that had been the wife of Urias;
7 Salomo fikk sønnen Rehabeam; Rehabeam fikk sønnen Abia; Abia fikk sønnen Asa;
And Solomon brings forth Roboam; and Roboam brings forth Abia; and Abia brings forth Asa;
8 Asa fikk sønnen Josafat; Josafat fikk sønnen Joram; Joram fikk sønnen Ussias;
And Asa brings forth Josaphat; and Josaphat brings forth Joram; and Joram brings forth Ozias;
9 Ussias fikk sønnen Jotam; Jotam fikk sønnen Akas; Akas fikk sønnen Esekias;
And Ozias brings forth Joatham; and Joatham brings forth Achaz; and Achaz brings forth Ezekias;
10 Esekias fikk sønnen Manasse; Manasse fikk sønnen Amon; Amon fikk sønnen Josias;
And Ezekias brings forth Manasses; and Manasses brings forth Amon; and Amon brings forth Josias;
11 Josias fikk Jekonja og hans brødre ved den tid da folket blev bortført til Babylon.
And Josias brings forth Jechonias and his brethren, about the time they were carried away to Babylon:
12 Efter bortførelsen til Babylon fikk Jekonja sønnen Sealtiel; Sealtiel fikk sønnen Serubabel;
And after they were brought to Babylon, Jechonias brings forth Salathiel; and Salathiel brings forth Zorobabel;
13 Serubabel fikk sønnen Abiud; Abiud fikk sønnen Eljakim; Eljakim fikk sønnen Asor;
And Zorobabel brings forth Abiud; and Abiud brings forth Eliakim; and Eliakim brings forth Azor;
14 Asor fikk sønnen Sadok; Sadok fikk sønnen Akim; Akim fikk sønnen Eliud;
And Azor brings forth Sadoc; and Sadoc brings forth Achim; and Achim brings forth Eliud;
15 Eliud fikk sønnen Eleasar; Eleasar fikk sønnen Mattan; Mattan fikk sønnen Jakob;
And Eliud brings forth Eleazar; and Eleazar brings forth Matthan; and Matthan brings forth Jacob;
16 Jakob var far til Josef, Marias mann, og av henne blev Jesus født, han som kalles Kristus.
And Jacob brings forth Joseph the husband of Mary, of whom was born Jesus, who is called Christ.
17 Således er alle ætt-leddene fra Abraham inntil David fjorten ledd, og fra David inntil bortførelsen til Babylon fjorten ledd, og fra bortførelsen til Babylon inntil Kristus fjorten ledd.
So all the generations from Abraham to David are fourteen generations; and from David until the carrying away into Babylon are fourteen generations; and from the carrying away into Babylon unto Christ are fourteen generations.
18 Men med Jesu Kristi fødsel gikk det således til: Da hans mor Maria var trolovet med Josef, viste det sig, før de var kommet sammen, at hun var fruktsommelig ved den Hellige Ånd.
Now the birth of Jesus Christ was likewise: When as his mother Mary was espoused to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Spirit. (pneuma)
19 Men Josef, hennes mann, som var rettferdig og ikke vilde føre skam over henne, vilde skille sig fra henne i stillhet.
Then Joseph her husband, being a just man, and not willing to make her a public example, was minded to put her away privately.
20 Mens han nu grundet på dette, se, da åpenbarte Herrens engel sig for ham i en drøm og sa: Josef, Davids sønn! frykt ikke for å ta din hustru Maria til dig! for det som er avlet i henne, er av den Hellige Ånd;
But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the LORD appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, you son of David, fear not to take unto you Mary your wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Spirit. (pneuma)
21 og hun skal føde en sønn, og du skal kalle ham Jesus; for han skal frelse sitt folk fra deres synder.
And she shall bring forth a son, and you shall call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.
22 Men alt dette skjedde forat det skulde opfylles som er talt av Herren ved profeten, som sier:
Now all this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying,
23 Se, en jomfru skal bli fruktsommelig og føde en sønn, og han skal kalles Immanuel, det er utlagt: Gud med oss.
Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.
24 Da nu Josef var våknet op av søvnen, gjorde han som Herrens engel hadde pålagt ham, og tok sin hustru til sig.
Then Joseph being raised from sleep did as the angel of the Lord had bidden him, and took unto him his wife:
25 Og han holdt sig ikke til henne før hun hadde født sin sønn, og han kalte ham Jesus.
And had sexual contact with her not till she had brought forth her firstborn son: and he called his name JESUS.
