1 Og Jerubba'al, det er Gideon, og alt folket som var med ham, tok tidlig ut og leiret sig ved Harodkilden; men midianittenes leir lå nordenfor, fra More-høiden og ned i dalen.

3 La nu utrope for folket: Den som er fryktsom og redd, kan vende om og fare hjem igjen fra Gileadfjellet! Da vendte to og tyve tusen av folket om, og ti tusen blev igjen.

4 Men Herren sa til Gideon: Ennu er det for mange folk; la dem gå ned til vannet, så vil jeg prøve dem for dig der, og den som jeg sier skal gå med dig, han skal gå med dig; men hver den som jeg sier ikke skal gå med dig, skal ikke gå.

5 Så lot han folket gå ned til vannet, og Herren sa til Gideon: Alle som lepjer vannet i sig med tungen likesom hunden, skal du stille for sig selv, og likeså alle som legger sig på kne for å drikke.
and to go down [obj] [the] people: soldiers to(wards) [the] water and to say LORD to(wards) Gideon all which to lick in/on/with tongue his from [the] water like/as as which to lick [the] dog to set [obj] him to/for alone and all which to bow upon knee his to/for to drink
6 Og tallet på dem som lepjet med hånden til munnen, var tre hundre; men hele resten av folket la sig på kne og drakk av vannet.
and to be number [the] to lick in/on/with hand their to(wards) lip their three hundred man and all remainder [the] people: soldiers to bow upon knee their to/for to drink water
7 Da sa Herren til Gideon: Med de tre hundre mann som lepjet, vil jeg frelse eder og gi midianittene i din hånd; men resten av folket kan gå hver til sitt.
and to say LORD to(wards) Gideon in/on/with three hundred [the] man [the] to lick to save [obj] you and to give: give [obj] Midian in/on/with hand: power your and all [the] people: soldiers to go: went man: anyone to/for place his
8 Så tok de til sig folkets matforråd og deres basuner, og alle de andre Israels menn lot han fare hver til sitt telt; men de tre hundre mann lot han bli igjen hos sig. Og midianittenes leir var lenger nede i dalen.
and to take: take [obj] provision [the] people: soldiers in/on/with hand their and [obj] trumpet their and [obj] all man Israel to send: depart man: anyone to/for tent his and in/on/with three hundred [the] man to strengthen: hold and camp Midian to be to/for him from underneath: under in/on/with valley
9 Og samme natt sa Herren til ham: Stå op og dra ned imot leiren! Jeg har gitt den i din hånd.
and to be in/on/with night [the] he/she/it and to say to(wards) him LORD to arise: rise to go down in/on/with camp for to give: give him in/on/with hand: power your
10 Men er du redd for å dra ned, så gå med din tjener Pura ned til leiren
and if afraid you(m. s.) to/for to go down to go down you(m. s.) and Purah youth your to(wards) [the] camp
11 Og hør efter hvad de sier; så skal du kjenne dig så sterk at du tør dra ned imot leiren. Og han og hans tjener Pura gikk ned til de krigsfolk som holdt vakt ytterst i leiren.
and to hear: hear what? to speak: speak and after to strengthen: strengthen hand your and to go down in/on/with camp and to go down he/she/it and Purah youth his to(wards) end [the] armed which in/on/with camp
12 Men midianittene og amalekittene og alle Østens barn lå der i dalen så tett som gresshopper, og det var ikke tall på deres kameler; de var tallrike som sanden på havets bredd.

13 Med det samme Gideon kom, var der en mann som fortalte en annen en drøm og sa: Jeg hadde en drøm, og se, et byggbrød kom rullende imot midianittenes leir, og da det kom til teltet, støtte det til det, så det falt; det kastet det over ende, og teltet lå der.

14 Da svarte den andre og sa: Dette er ikke noget annet enn israelitten Gideons, Joas' sønns sverd; Gud har gitt midianittene og hele leiren i hans hånd.

15 Og da Gideon hørte denne drøm fortalt og hvorledes den blev tydet, tilbad han. og han vendte tilbake til Israels leir og sa: Stå op! Herren har gitt midianittenes leir i eders hånd.

16 Og han delte de tre hundre mann i tre flokker og gav dem alle sammen basuner i hendene og tomme krukker, og inne i krukkene var det fakler.
and to divide [obj] three hundred [the] man three head: group and to give: put trumpet in/on/with hand all their and jar worthless and torch in/on/with midst [the] jar
17 Og han sa til dem: I skal se på mig og gjøre som jeg; når jeg kommer til utkanten av leiren, så skal I gjøre som jeg gjør.
and to say to(wards) them from me to see: see and so to make: do and behold I to come (in): come in/on/with end [the] camp and to be like/as as which to make: do so to make: do [emph?]
18 Når jeg støter i basunen, jeg og alle de som er med mig, da skal også I støte i basunene rundt omkring hele leiren og rope: For Herren og for Gideon!
and to blow in/on/with trumpet I and all which with me and to blow in/on/with trumpet also you(m. p.) around: side all [the] camp and to say to/for LORD and to/for Gideon
19 Så kom Gideon og hundre mann som var med ham, til utkanten av leiren ved begynnelsen av den mellemste nattevakt; de hadde just satt ut vaktpostene. Og de støtte i basunene og slo i stykker krukkene som de hadde i hånden.
and to come (in): come Gideon and hundred man which with him in/on/with end [the] camp head: first [the] watch [the] middle surely to arise: guard to arise: guard [obj] [the] to keep: guard and to blow in/on/with trumpet and to shatter [the] jar which in/on/with hand their
20 Og alle de tre flokker støtte i basunene og slo i stykker krukkene; med venstre hånd grep de faklene og med høire hånd basunene og støtte i dem og ropte: Sverd for Herren og for Gideon!
and to blow three [the] head: group in/on/with trumpet and to break [the] jar and to strengthen: hold in/on/with hand left their in/on/with torch and in/on/with hand right their [the] trumpet to/for to blow and to call: call out sword to/for LORD and to/for Gideon
21 Og de blev stående hver på sitt sted rundt omkring leiren; da begynte alle i leiren å løpe og skrike og flykte.
and to stand: stand man: anyone underneath: stand him around to/for camp and to run: run all [the] camp and to shout (and to flee *Q(K)*)
22 Og de støtte i de tre hundre basuner, og Herren vendte den enes sverd imot den andre i hele leiren; og de som var i leiren, flyktet til Bet-Hasitta bortimot Serera, til elvebredden ved Abel-Mehola forbi Tabbat.
and to blow three hundred [the] trumpet and to set: make LORD [obj] sword man: anyone in/on/with neighbor his and in/on/with all [the] camp and to flee [the] camp till Beth-shittah [the] Beth-shittah Zererah till lip: edge Abel-meholah Abel-meholah upon Tabbath
23 Og Israels menn av Naftali og av Aser og av hele Manasse blev kalt til våben og forfulgte midianittene.
and to cry man Israel from Naphtali and from Asher and from all Manasseh and to pursue after Midian
24 Og Gideon sendte bud omkring på hele Efra'im-fjellet og lot si: Dra ned imot midianittene og avsteng dem fra vannene like til Bet-Bara og Jordan! Så blev da hver mann i Efra'im kalt til våben, Og de stengte veien til vannene like til Bet-Bara og Jordan.
