Jeremias 23
1 Ve de hyrder som ødelegger og adspreder den hjord jeg før, sier Herren.
“Woe to the shepherds who destroy and scatter the sheep of My pasture!” declares the LORD.
2 Derfor sier Herren, Israels Gud, så om de hyrder som røkter mitt folk: I har adspredt mine får og jaget dem bort og ikke sett efter dem; se, jeg hjemsøker eder for eders onde gjerninger, sier Herren.
Therefore this is what the LORD, the God of Israel, says about the shepherds who tend My people: “You have scattered My flock and driven them away, and have not attended to them. Behold, I will attend to you for the evil of your deeds, declares the LORD.
3 Og jeg vil selv samle resten av mine får fra alle de land jeg har drevet dem bort til, og jeg vil føre dem tilbake til deres egne beitemarker, og de skal være fruktbare og bli mange.
Then I Myself will gather the remnant of My flock from all the lands to which I have banished them, and I will return them to their pasture, where they will be fruitful and multiply.
4 Og jeg vil sette hyrder over dem, og de skal røkte dem; og de skal ikke frykte mere og ikke forferdes, og ingen av dem skal savnes, sier Herren.
I will raise up shepherds over them who will tend them, and they will no longer be afraid or dismayed, nor will any go missing, declares the LORD.
5 Se, dager kommer, sier Herren, da jeg vil la stå frem for David en rettferdig spire, og han skal regjere som konge og gå frem med visdom og gjøre rett og rettferdighet i landet.
Behold, the days are coming, declares the LORD, when I will raise up for David a righteous Branch, and He will reign wisely as King and will administer justice and righteousness in the land.
6 I hans dager skal Juda bli frelst, og Israel bo trygt; og dette er det navn som han skal kalles med: Herren, vår rettferdighet.
In His days Judah will be saved, and Israel will dwell securely. And this is His name by which He will be called: The LORD Our Righteousness.
7 Se, derfor skal dager komme, sier Herren, da en ikke mere skal si: Så sant Herren lever, han som førte Israels barn op fra Egyptens land,
So behold, the days are coming, declares the LORD, when they will no longer say, ‘As surely as the LORD lives, who brought the Israelites up out of the land of Egypt.’
8 men: Så sant Herren lever, som førte Israels hus og ætt op og lot dem komme fra et land i nord og fra alle de land jeg hadde drevet dem bort til. Og de skal bo i sitt land.
Instead they will say, ‘As surely as the LORD lives, who brought and led the descendants of the house of Israel up out of the land of the north and all the other lands to which He had banished them.’ Then they will dwell once more in their own land.”
9 Om profetene. Mitt hjerte er sønderknust i mitt indre, alle mine ben skjelver, jeg er som en drukken mann, en mann som vinen har overveldet, for Herrens skyld og for hans hellige ords skyld.
As for the prophets: My heart is broken within me, and all my bones tremble. I have become like a drunkard, like a man overcome by wine, because of the LORD, because of His holy words.
10 For landet er fullt av horkarler; for forbannelsens skyld visner landet, for dens skyld er ørkenens beitemarker avsvidd; deres løp er ondt, og deres styrke er urett.
For the land is full of adulterers— because of the curse, the land mourns and the pastures of the wilderness have dried up— their course is evil and their power is misused.
11 For både profet og prest er gudløse; selv i mitt hus har jeg funnet deres ondskap, sier Herren.
“For both prophet and priest are ungodly; even in My house I have found their wickedness,”
12 Derfor skal deres vei bli for dem som glatte steder i mørket; de skal støtes over ende og falle der; for jeg lar ulykke komme over dem i det år da de blir hjemsøkt, sier Herren.
“Therefore their path will become slick; they will be driven away into the darkness and fall into it. For I will bring disaster upon them in the year of their punishment,”
13 Hos Samarias profeter har jeg sett dårskap; de profeterte ved Ba'al og førte mitt folk Israel vill.
“Among the prophets of Samaria I saw an offensive thing: They prophesied by Baal and led My people Israel astray.
14 Men hos Jerusalems profeter har jeg sett grufulle ting; de driver hor og farer med løgn og styrker de ondes hender, så ingen av dem vender om fra sin ondskap; de er alle sammen blitt for mig som Sodoma, og dets innbyggere som Gomorra.
And among the prophets of Jerusalem I have seen a horrible thing: They commit adultery and walk in lies. They strengthen the hands of evildoers, so that no one turns his back on wickedness. They are all like Sodom to Me; the people of Jerusalem are like Gomorrah.”
15 Derfor sier Herren, hærskarenes Gud, så om profetene: Se, jeg gir dem malurt å ete og beskt vann å drikke; for fra Jerusalems profeter er gudløshet gått ut over hele landet.
Therefore this is what the LORD of Hosts says concerning the prophets: “I will feed them wormwood and give them poisoned water to drink, for from the prophets of Jerusalem ungodliness has spread throughout the land.”
16 Så sier Herren, hærskarenes Gud: Hør ikke på de profeters ord som profeterer for eder! De fyller eder med tomme innbilninger; de bærer frem sitt eget hjertes syner, ikke ord av Herrens munn.
This is what the LORD of Hosts says: “Do not listen to the words of the prophets who prophesy to you. They are filling you with false hopes. They speak visions from their own minds, not from the mouth of the LORD.
17 De sier atter og atter til dem som forakter mig: Herren har sagt: I skal ha fred. Og til hver den som følger sitt hårde hjerte, sier de: Det skal ikke komme ulykke over eder.
They keep saying to those who despise Me, ‘The LORD says that you will have peace,’ and to everyone who walks in the stubbornness of his own heart, ‘No harm will come to you.’
18 For hvem av dem har stått i Herrens fortrolige råd, så han så og hørte hans ord? Hvem har gitt akt på mitt ord og hørt det?
But which of them has stood in the council of the LORD to see and hear His word? Who has given heed to His word and obeyed it?
19 Se, Herrens storm, hans vrede farer ut, en hvirvlende stormvind; den hvirvler over hodet på de ugudelige.
Behold, the storm of the LORD has gone out with fury, a whirlwind swirling down upon the heads of the wicked.
20 Herrens vrede skal ikke vende tilbake før han har utført og fullbyrdet sitt hjertes tanker; i de siste dager skal I forstå det helt.
The anger of the LORD will not turn back until He has fully accomplished the purposes of His heart. In the days to come you will understand this clearly.
21 Jeg har ikke sendt profetene, allikevel løp de; jeg har ikke talt til dem, allikevel profeterte de.
I did not send these prophets, yet they have run with their message; I did not speak to them, yet they have prophesied.
22 Og hadde de stått i mitt fortrolige råd, vilde de la mitt folk høre mine ord og føre dem tilbake fra deres onde vei og fra deres onde gjerninger.
But if they had stood in My council, they would have proclaimed My words to My people and turned them back from their evil ways and deeds.”
23 Er jeg en Gud bare nær ved, sier Herren, og ikke en Gud langt borte?
“Am I only a God nearby,” declares the LORD, “and not a God far away?”
24 Eller kan nogen skjule sig på lønnlige steder så jeg ikke kan se ham? sier Herren. Opfyller jeg ikke himmelen og jorden? sier Herren.
“Can a man hide in secret places where I cannot see him?” declares the LORD. “Do I not fill the heavens and the earth?” declares the LORD.
25 Jeg har hørt hvad de profeter har sagt som profeterer løgn i mitt navn og sier: Jeg har drømt, jeg har drømt.
“I have heard the sayings of the prophets who prophesy lies in My name: ‘I had a dream! I had a dream!’
26 Hvor lenge skal dette vare? Har de i sinne de profeter som profeterer løgn, og som bærer frem sitt eget hjertes svik -
How long will this continue in the hearts of these prophets who prophesy falsehood, these prophets of the delusion of their own minds?
27 tenker de på å få mitt folk til å glemme mitt navn ved sine drømmer som de forteller hverandre, likesom deres fedre glemte mitt navn for Ba'als skyld?
They suppose the dreams that they tell one another will make My people forget My name, just as their fathers forgot My name through the worship of Baal.
28 Den profet som har en drøm, han får fortelle en drøm, og den som har mitt ord, han skal tale mitt ord i sannhet! Hvad har halmen å gjøre med kornet? sier Herren.
Let the prophet who has a dream retell it, but let him who has My word speak it truthfully. For what is straw compared to grain?” declares the LORD.
29 Er ikke mitt ord som en ild, sier Herren, og lik en hammer som knuser berg?
“Is not My word like fire,” declares the LORD, “and like a hammer that smashes a rock?”
30 Se, derfor, sier Herren, kommer jeg over de profeter som stjeler mine ord fra hverandre.
“Therefore behold,” declares the LORD, “I am against the prophets who steal from one another words they attribute to Me.”
31 Se, jeg kommer over de profeter som bruker sin tunge og sier: Så sier Herren.
“Yes,” declares the LORD, “I am against the prophets who wag their own tongues and proclaim, ‘The LORD declares it.’”
32 Se, jeg kommer over dem som bærer frem løgnaktige drømmer, sier Herren, og som forteller dem og fører mitt folk vill ved sine løgner og ved sitt skryt; jeg har ikke sendt dem og ikke gitt dem befaling, og noget gagn gjør de ikke dette folk, sier Herren.
“Indeed,” declares the LORD, “I am against those who prophesy false dreams and retell them to lead My people astray with their reckless lies. It was not I who sent them or commanded them, and they are of no benefit at all to these people,” declares the LORD.
33 Og når dette folk eller en profet eller en prest spør dig: Hvad er Herrens byrde? - da skal du si dem hvad byrden er: I er byrden og jeg vil kaste eder bort, sier Herren.
“Now when this people or a prophet or priest asks you, ‘What is the burden of the LORD?’ you are to say to them, ‘What burden? I will forsake you, declares the LORD.’
34 Og den profet og den prest og den av folket som sier: Herrens byrde, den mann og hans hus vil jeg hjemsøke.
As for the prophet or priest or anyone who claims, ‘This is the burden of the LORD,’ I will punish that man and his household.
35 Således skal I si hver til sin næste og hver til sin bror: Hvad har Herren svart? Hvad har Herren talt?
This is what each man is to say to his friend and to his brother: ‘What has the LORD answered?’ or ‘What has the LORD spoken?’
36 Men "Herrens byrde" skal I ikke nevne mere; for hver manns eget ord skal være hans byrde, fordi I har forvendt den levende Guds, Herrens, hærskarenes Guds, vår Guds ord.
But refer no more to the burden of the LORD, for each man’s word becomes the burden, so that you pervert the words of the living God, the LORD of Hosts, our God.
37 Således skal du si til profeten: Hvad har Herren svart dig? Hvad har Herren talt?
Thus you are to say to the prophet: ‘What has the LORD answered you?’ and ‘What has the LORD spoken?’
38 Men dersom I sier "Herrens byrde", da sier Herren så: Fordi I sier dette ord, "Herrens byrde", enda jeg sendte eder bud og sa: I skal ikke si "Herrens byrde",
But if you claim, ‘This is the burden of the LORD,’ then this is what the LORD says: Because you have said, ‘This is the burden of the LORD,’ and I specifically told you not to make this claim,
39 se, derfor vil jeg aldeles glemme eder og kaste eder og den by jeg gav eder og eders fedre, bort fra mitt åsyn,
therefore I will surely forget you and will cast you out of My presence, both you and the city that I gave to you and your fathers.
40 og jeg vil legge på eder en evig skam og en evig vanære, som aldri skal glemmes.
And I will bring upon you everlasting shame and perpetual humiliation that will never be forgotten.”
