Esaias 11
1 Men en kvist skal skyte frem av Isais stubb, og et skudd fra hans røtter skal bære frukt.
But there shall come forth a shoot from the stock of Jesse, —And, a sprout from his roots, shall bear fruit;
2 Og Herrens Ånd skal hvile over ham, visdoms og forstands Ånd, råds og styrkes Ånd, den Ånd som gir kunnskap om Herren og frykt for ham.
And the spirit of Yahweh shall rest upon him, —The spirit of wisdom and understanding, The spirit of counsel and might, The spirit of knowledge and reverence of Yahweh;
3 Han skal ha sitt velbehag i Herrens frykt, og han skal ikke dømme efter det hans øine ser, og ikke skifte rett efter det hans ører hører,
So will he find fragrance, in the reverence of Yahweh, And not, by the sight of his eyes, will he judge, Nor by the hearing of his ears, will he decide;
4 men han skal dømme de ringe med rettferdighet og skifte rett med rettvishet for de saktmodige på jorden, og han skal slå jorden med sin munns ris og drepe den ugudelige med sine lebers ånde.
But he will judge with righteousness! them who are poor, And decide with equity! for the oppressed of the land, —And he will smite the land With the sceptre of his mouth, And with the breath of his lips, will he slay the lawless one;
5 Rettferdighet skal være beltet om hans lender, og trofasthet beltet om hans hofter.
And righteousness shall be the girdle of his loins, —And faithfulness the girdle of his reins;
6 Da skal ulven bo sammen med lammet, og leoparden ligge hos kjeet, og kalven og den unge løve og gjøfeet skal holde sig sammen, og en liten gutt skal drive dem.
And the wolf shall dwell with the lamb, And, the leopard, with the kid, shall lie down, —And the calf and the young lion and the fatling—together, With, a little child, leading them;
7 Ku og bjørn skal beite sammen, deres unger skal ligge hos hverandre, og løven skal ete halm som oksen.
And the cow, with the bear shall find pasture, Together, shall their young ones, lie down, —And, the lion, like the ox, shall eat straw;
8 Diebarnet skal leke ved huggormens hule, og over basiliskens hull skal det avvente barn rekke ut sin hånd.
And the sucking child shall caress over the hole of the asp, Yea over the viper’s den, hath the weaned child stretched out his hand:
9 Ingen skal gjøre noget ondt og ingen ødelegge noget på hele mitt hellige berg; for jorden er full av Herrens kunnskap, likesom vannet dekker havets bunn.
They shall not hurt—nor destroy, in all my holy mountain, —For filled is the land with the knowledge of Yahweh, As the waters, to the sea, form a covering.
10 På den tid skal hedningefolkene søke til Isais rotskudd, som står som et banner for folkeslag, og hans bolig skal være herlighet.
And there shall come to be, in that day, A root of Jesse, which shall be standing as an ensign of peoples, Unto him, shall nations seek, —And, his resting-place, shall be, glorious.
11 På den tid skal Herren ennu en gang rekke ut sin hånd for å vinne levningen av sitt folk, de som blir reddet fra Assyria og Egypten og Patros og Etiopia og Elam og Sinear og Hamat og havets øer.
And it shall come to pass in that day, That My Lord will again a second time set his hand, to possess himself of the remnant of his people, —who shall be left—from Assyria and from Egypt and from Pathros and from Ethiopia and from Elam and from Shinar and from Hamath and from the Coastlands of the sea;
12 Og han skal løfte et banner for folkene og samle de fordrevne av Israel og sanke de adspredte av Juda fra jordens fire hjørner.
And he will lift up a standard to the nations, And will gather the outcasts of Israel, —And the dispersed of Judah, will he collect, From the four corners of the earth.
13 Da skal Efra'ims misunnelse vike, og de som overfaller Juda, skal utryddes; Efra'im skal ikke misunne Juda og Juda ikke overfalle Efra'im.
And the envy of Ephraim shall be removed, And the vexatious doings of Judah, shall be cut off: Ephraim shall not envy Judah, and Judah, shall not vex Ephraim;
14 Og de skal slå ned på filistrenes skulder mot vest; sammen skal de plyndre Østens barn; på Edom og Moab skal de legge hånd, og Ammons barn skal lyde dem.
But they shall fly on the wing of the Philistines in the west, Together, shall they make prey of the sons of the east, —On Edom and Moab, putting forth their hand, With the sons of Ammon hearkening unto them.
15 Og Herren skal slå bukten av Egyptens hav med bann og svinge sin hånd over elven med sin sterke storm, og han skal kløve den til syv bekker, så en kan gå over den med sko.
And Yahweh, will devote to destruction, the gulf of the Egyptian sea, And will brandish his hand against the River ["Euphrates"], in the full force of his spirit, —And will smite it in the seven streams And cause a marching through in sandals,
16 Og der skal være en ryddet vei for levningen av hans folk, de som blir reddet fra Assyria, likesom det var for Israel den dag de drog op fra Egyptens land.
So shall there be a highway for the remnant of his people who shall be left out of Assyria, —Like as it was to Israel, in the day that he came up out of the land of Egypt!
