1 Mosebok 45
1 Da kunde ikke Josef lenger legge bånd på sig for alle dem som stod hos ham; han ropte: La hver mann gå ut fra mig! Og det var ingen tilstede da Josef gav sig til kjenne for sine brødre.
And Joseph has not been able to refrain himself before all those standing by him, and he calls, “Put out every man from me”; and no man has stood with him when Joseph makes himself known to his brothers,
2 Og han brast i gråt og gråt så høit at egypterne hørte det, og de hørte det i Faraos hus.
and he gives forth his voice in weeping, and the Egyptians hear, and the house of Pharaoh hears.
3 Og Josef sa til sine brødre: Jeg er Josef, lever min far ennu? Men hans brødre kunde ikke svare ham, så forferdet stod de der foran ham.
And Joseph says to his brothers, “I [am] Joseph, is my father yet alive?” And his brothers have not been able to answer him, for they have been troubled at his presence.
4 Da sa Josef til sine brødre: Kjære, kom hit til mig! Så gikk de bort til ham; og han sa: Jeg er Josef, eders bror, som I solgte til Egypten.
And Joseph says to his brothers, “Please come near to me,” and they come near; and he says, “I [am] your brother Joseph, whom you sold into Egypt;
5 Men vær nu ikke bekymret og sørg ikke over at I solgte mig hit! For å holde eder i live har Gud sendt mig hit i forveien for eder;
and now, do not be grieved, nor let it be displeasing in your eyes that you sold me here, for God has sent me before you to preserve life.
6 for nu har det vært hungersnød i landet i to år, og ennu kommer det fem år da der hverken skal pløies eller høstes.
Because these two years the famine [is] in the heart of the land, and yet five years [remain in] which there is neither plowing nor harvest;
7 Men Gud har sendt mig i forveien for eder fordi han vilde levne eder en rest på jorden, og fordi han vilde holde eder i live, så det blev en stor frelse.
and God sends me before you, to place a remnant of you in the land, and to give life to you by a great escape;
8 Så er det da ikke I som har sendt mig hit, men Gud; og han har satt mig til far for Farao og til herre over hele hans hus og til hersker i hele Egyptens land.
and now, you have not sent me here, but God, and He sets me for a father to Pharaoh, and for lord to all his house, and ruler over all the land of Egypt.
9 Skynd eder og dra op til min far og si til ham: Så sier din sønn Josef: Gud har satt mig til herre over hele Egypten; kom ned til mig, dryg ikke!
Hurry, and go up to my father, then you have said to him, Thus said your son Joseph: God has set me for lord to all Egypt; come down to me, do not stay,
10 Du skal få bo i landet Gosen og være mig nær, både du og dine barn og dine barnebarn med ditt småfe og storfe og alt det du har.
and you have dwelt in the land of Goshen, and been near to me, you and your sons, and your son’s sons, and your flock, and your herd, and all that you have,
11 Og jeg vil sørge for dig der - for ennu kommer det fem hungersår - forat du ikke skal utarmes, du og ditt hus og alle de som hører dig til.
and I have nourished you there—for yet [are] five years of famine—lest you become poor, you and your household, and all that you have.
12 Og nu ser både I og min bror Benjamin med egne øine at det er jeg som taler med eder.
And behold, your eyes are seeing, and the eyes of my brother Benjamin, that [it is] my mouth which is speaking to you;
13 Fortell da min far om all min herlighet i Egypten og om alt det I har sett; og skynd eder å føre min far her ned!
and you have declared to my father all my glory in Egypt, and all that you have seen, and you have hurried, and have brought down my father here.”
14 Så falt han sin bror Benjamin om halsen og gråt, og Benjamin gråt i hans armer.
And he falls on the neck of his brother Benjamin, and weeps, and Benjamin has wept on his neck;
15 Og han kysset alle sine brødre og gråt ved deres bryst; og siden talte hans brødre med ham.
and he kisses all his brothers, and weeps over them; and afterward his brothers have spoken with him.
16 Og da det spurtes i Faraos hus at Josefs brødre var kommet, blev Farao og hans tjenere glade.
And the sound has been heard in the house of Pharaoh, saying, “The brothers of Joseph have come”; and it is good in the eyes of Pharaoh, and in the eyes of his servants,
17 Og Farao sa til Josef: Si til dine brødre: Så skal I gjøre: I skal lesse på eders dyr og fare hjem til Kana'ans land,
and Pharaoh says to Joseph, “Say to your brothers, This you do: load your beasts, and go, enter the land of Canaan,
18 og ta så eders far og eders husfolk og kom til mig, og jeg vil gi eder det beste i Egyptens land, og I skal ete av landets fedme.
and take your father, and your households, and come to me, and I give to you the good of the land of Egypt, and you eat the fat of the land.
19 Dette byder jeg dig nu å si til dem: Så skal I gjøre: I skal ta med eder vogner fra Egypten til eders barn og hustruer og hente eders far og komme hit,
Indeed, you have been commanded: this you do, take for yourselves out of the land of Egypt, wagons for your infants, and for your wives, and you have brought your father, and come;
20 og I skal ikke kvie eder for å reise fra eders eiendeler; for det beste i hele Egyptens land skal være eders.
and your eye has no pity on your vessels, for the good of all the land of Egypt [is] yours.”
21 Og Israels sønner gjorde så; og Josef gav dem vogner efter Faraos befaling og gav dem niste med på veien.
And the sons of Israel do so, and Joseph gives wagons to them by the command of Pharaoh, and he gives to them provision for the way;
22 Og han gav dem alle hver sin høitidsklædning, men Benjamin gav han tre hundre sekel sølv og fem høitidsklædninger.
to all of them has he given—to each changes of garments, and to Benjamin he has given three hundred pieces of silver, and five changes of garments;
23 Likeledes sendte han til sin far ti asener som bar av det beste Egypten hadde, og ti aseninner som bar korn og brød og fødevarer for hans far. på reisen.
and to his father he has sent thus: ten donkeys carrying of the good things of Egypt, and ten female donkeys carrying grain and bread, even food for his father for the way.
24 Så lot han sine brødre fare, og de reiste; og han sa til dem: Trett ikke med hverandre på veien!
And he sends his brothers away, and they go; and he says to them, “Do not be angry in the way.”
25 Så drog de op fra Egypten og kom til Kana'ans land, til Jakob, sin far.
And they go up out of Egypt, and come to the land of Canaan, to their father Jacob,
26 Og de fortalte ham at Josef ennu var i live, og at han var hersker over hele Egyptens land. Men hans hjerte var og blev koldt, for han trodde dem ikke.
and they declare to him, saying, “Joseph [is] yet alive,” and that he [is] ruler over all the land of Egypt; and his heart ceases, for he has not given credence to them.
27 Så fortalte de ham alt det Josef hadde sagt til dem, og han så vognene som Josef hadde sendt til å hente ham i; da oplivedes Jakobs deres fars ånd.
And they speak to him all the words of Joseph, which he has spoken to them, and he sees the wagons which Joseph has sent to carry him away, and the spirit of their father Jacob lives;
28 Og Israel sa: Det er nok; Josef, min sønn, lever ennu; jeg vil dra avsted og se ham før jeg dør.
and Israel says, “Enough! My son Joseph [is] yet alive; I go and see him before I die.”
