Esekiel 13

1 Og Herrens ord kom til mig, og det lød så:

The LORD’s word came to me, saying,

2 Menneskesønn! Spå mot Israels profeter, som gir sig av med å spå, og si til dem som spår efter sitt eget hjerte: Hør Herrens ord!

“Son of man, prophesy against the prophets of Israel who prophesy, and say to those who prophesy out of their own heart, ‘Hear the LORD’s word:

3 Så sier Herren, Israels Gud: Ve over de dårlige profeter, som følger sin egen ånd og syner som de ikke har sett!

The Lord GOD says, “Woe to the foolish prophets, who follow their own spirit, and have seen nothing!

4 Som rever blandt ruiner er dine profeter, Israel!

Israel, your prophets have been like foxes in the waste places.

5 I er ikke steget op i murbruddene og har ikke bygget nogen mur om Israels hus, så de kunde holde stand i striden på Herrens dag.

You have not gone up into the gaps or built up the wall for the house of Israel, to stand in the battle in the LORD’s day.

6 Deres syner var tomhet, og deres spådommer løgn, de som sier: Så sier Herren, enda Herren ikke har sendt dem, og som håper på at deres ord skal bli stadfestet.

They have seen falsehood and lying divination, who say, ‘The LORD says;’ but the LORD has not sent them. They have made men to hope that the word would be confirmed.

7 Er det ikke tomme syner I har skuet, og løgnaktige spådommer I har uttalt? I sier: Så sier Herren, enda jeg ikke har talt.

Haven’t you seen a false vision, and haven’t you spoken a lying divination, in that you say, ‘The LORD says;’ but I have not spoken?”

8 Derfor sier Herren, Israels Gud, så: Fordi I taler tomhet og skuer løgn, se, derfor vil jeg komme over eder, sier Herren, Israels Gud.

“‘Therefore the Lord GOD says: “Because you have spoken falsehood and seen lies, therefore, behold, I am against you,” says the Lord GOD.

9 Og min hånd skal være imot de profeter som skuer tomhet og spår løgn; i mitt folks råd skal de ikke være, og i Israels folks bok skal de ikke skrives, og til Israels land skal de ikke komme, og I skal kjenne at jeg er Herren, Israels Gud,

“My hand will be against the prophets who see false visions and who utter lying divinations. They will not be in the council of my people, neither will they be written in the writing of the house of Israel, neither will they enter into Eretz-Israel. Then you will know that I am the Lord GOD.”

10 fordi, ja fordi de har ført mitt folk vill og sagt: Fred! - enda det ikke er nogen fred. Når folket bygger en vegg, se, da stryker de den over med kalk.

“‘Because, even because they have seduced my people, saying, “Peace;” and there is no peace. When one builds up a wall, behold, they plaster it with whitewash.

11 Si til kalkstrykerne at den vil falle; det kommer et skyllregn, og I haglstener skal falle, og en stormvind skal bryte inn.

Tell those who plaster it with whitewash that it will fall. There will be an overflowing shower; and you, great hailstones, will fall. A stormy wind will tear it.

12 Når så veggen er falt, vil det da ikke bli sagt til eder: Hvor er kalken som I strøk den over med?

Behold, when the wall has fallen, won’t it be said to you, “Where is the plaster with which you have plastered it?”

13 Derfor sier Herren, Israels Gud, så: Ja, jeg vil i min harme la en stormvind bryte inn, og i min vrede la det komme et skyllregn og i min harme haglstener, så alt blir ødelagt.

“‘Therefore the Lord GOD says: “I will even tear it with a stormy wind in my wrath. There will be an overflowing shower in my anger, and great hailstones in wrath to consume it.

So I will break down the wall that you have plastered with whitewash, and bring it down to the ground, so that its foundation will be uncovered. It will fall, and you will be consumed in the middle of it. Then you will know that I am the LORD.

15 Og jeg vil uttømme min harme på veggen og på dem som strøk den over med kalk, og jeg vil si til eder: Veggen er ikke mere til, heller ikke de som strøk den over,

Thus I will accomplish my wrath on the wall, and on those who have plastered it with whitewash. I will tell you, ‘The wall is no more, nor those who plastered it—

16 Israels profeter, som spådde om Jerusalem og skuet fredssyner for det, enda det ikke er nogen fred, sier Herren, Israels Gud.

to wit, the prophets of Israel who prophesy concerning Jerusalem, and who see visions of peace for her, and there is no peace,’” says the Lord GOD.’”

17 Og du menneskesønn! Vend ditt ansikt mot ditt folks døtre, som spår efter sitt eget hjerte, og spå mot dem

You, son of man, set your face against the daughters of your people, who prophesy out of their own heart; and prophesy against them,

18 og si: Så sier Herren, Israels Gud: Ve dem som syr dekker over alle ledd på mine hender og gjør hetter til hodet på folk efter enhvers høide for å fange sjeler! Mitt folks sjeler fanger I, og eders egne sjeler holder I i live.

and say, “The Lord GOD says: ‘Woe to the women who sew magic bands on all elbows and make veils for the head of persons of every stature to hunt souls! Will you hunt the souls of my people and save souls alive for yourselves?

19 Og I vanhelliger mig hos mitt folk for nogen håndfull bygg og for nogen stykker brød, for å drepe sjeler som ikke skal dø, og for å holde sjeler i live som ikke skulde leve, idet I lyver for mitt folk, som gjerne hører på løgn.

You have profaned me among my people for handfuls of barley and for pieces of bread, to kill the souls who should not die and to save the souls alive who should not live, by your lying to my people who listen to lies.’

20 Derfor sier Herren, Israels Gud, så: Se, jeg vil ta fatt i eders dekker som I fanger sjelene med likesom fugler, og jeg vil rive dem bort fra eders armer, og de sjeler som I fanger, dem vil jeg la slippe fri som fugler.

“Therefore the Lord GOD says: ‘Behold, I am against your magic bands, with which you hunt the souls to make them fly, and I will tear them from your arms. I will let the souls fly free, even the souls whom you ensnare like birds.

21 Og jeg vil sønderrive eders hetter og utfri mitt folk av eders hånd, og de skal ikke mere være et bytte i eders hånd, og I skal kjenne at jeg er Herren.

I will also tear your veils and deliver my people out of your hand; and they will no longer be in your hand to be ensnared. Then you will know that I am the LORD.

22 Fordi I ved løgn gjør den rettferdiges hjerte motløst, uten at jeg har bedrøvet ham, og styrker den ugudeliges hender, så han ikke vender om fra sin onde vei, og jeg kan la ham leve,

Because with lies you have grieved the heart of the righteous, whom I have not made sad; and strengthened the hands of the wicked, that he should not return from his wicked way, and be saved alive.

23 derfor skal I ikke mere skue tomhet eller spå falske spådommer, og jeg vil utfri mitt folk av eders hånd, og I skal kjenne at jeg er Herren.

Therefore you shall no more see false visions nor practice divination. I will deliver my people out of your hand. Then you will know that I am the LORD.’”
