2 Kongebok 11

1 Da Akasjas mor Atalja fikk vite at hennes sønn var død, tok hun sig for å utrydde hele den kongelige ætt.

And Athaliah [the] mother of Ahaziah (she saw *Q(K)*) that he was dead son her and she arose and she destroyed all [the] offspring of royalty.

2 Men Akasjas søster Joseba, kong Jorams datter, tok Joas, Akasjas sønn, og førte ham hemmelig bort fra kongesønnene som skulde drepes, og førte ham og hans amme inn i sengekammeret. Således skjulte de ham for Atalja, så han ikke blev drept.

And she took Jehosheba [the] daughter of the king Joram [the] sister of Ahaziah Joash [the] son of Ahaziah and she stole him from among [the] sons of the king (who were about to be put to death *Q(K)*) him and suckling-nurse his in [the] chamber of the beds and they hid him from before Athaliah and not he was put to death.

3 Siden var han hos henne i Herrens hus og blev holdt skjult i seks år, mens Atalja regjerte i landet.

And he was with her [the] house of Yahweh hiding himself six years and Athaliah [was] reigning over the land.

4 Men i det syvende år sendte Jojada bud efter livvaktens høvedsmenn og lot dem komme inn til sig i Herrens hus og gjorde en pakt med dem og tok dem i ed der i Herrens hus og viste dem kongens sønn.

And in the year seventh he sent Jehoiada and he took - [the] commanders of (the hundreds *Q(k)*) of the Carian[s] and of the runners and he brought them to himself [the] house of Yahweh and he made to them a covenant and he made to swear an oath with them in [the] house of Yahweh and he showed them [the] son of the king.

5 Og han bød dem og sa: Hør nu hvad I skal gjøre: Den ene tredjedel av eder skal tiltrede vakten på sabbaten og holde vakt ved kongens hus,

And he commanded them saying this [is] the thing which you will do! the third [part] of you [who] come the sabbath and [who] keep [the] watch of [the] house of the king.

6 og den annen tredjedel i Surporten og den tredje tredjedel i porten bak drabantene; således skal I holde vakt ved huset og avstenge det;

And the third [part] [will be] at [the] gate of Sur and the third [part] [will be] at the gate behind the runners and you will keep [the] watch of the house by turns.

7 men de to deler av eder, de som treder av på sabbaten, de skal holde vakt i Herrens hus hos kongen.

And [the] two the hands in you all [those who] go out the sabbath and they will keep [the] watch of [the] house of Yahweh to the king.

8 I skal stille eder rundt omkring kongen, hver mann med våben i hånd, og den som vil trenge inn i rekkene, skal drepes; I skal være om kongen, bade når han går ut, og når han går inn.

And you will surround the king all around everyone and weapons his in hand his and the [one who] comes into the ranks he will be put to death and be with the king when goes out he and when comes he.

9 Høvedsmennene gjorde aldeles som presten Jojada bød dem; de tok hver sine menn, både dem som tiltrådte på sabbaten, og dem som trådte av på sabbaten, og kom til presten Jojada.

And they did [the] commanders of (the hundreds *Q(k)*) according to all that he commanded Jehoiada the priest and they took each men his [those who] came the sabbath with [those who] went out the sabbath and they came to Jehoiada the priest.

10 Og presten gav høvedsmennene de spyd og skjold som hadde tilhørt kong David, og som var i Herrens hus.

And he gave the priest to [the] commanders of (the hundreds *Q(k)*) the spear and the shields which [had belonged] to the king David which [were] in [the] house of Yahweh.

11 Og drabantene stod opstilt, hver mann med våben i hånd, fra husets høire side til husets venstre side bortimot alteret og bortimot huset rundt omkring kongen.

And they stood the runners everyone - and weapons his in hand his from [the] side of the house south to [the] side of the house north to the altar and to the house at the king all around.

12 Så førte han kongesønnen ut og satte kronen på ham og overgav ham vidnesbyrdet, og de gjorde ham til konge og salvet ham; og de klappet i hendene og ropte: Kongen leve!

And he brought out [the] son of the king and he put on him the crown and the testimony and they made king him and they anointed him and they struck a palm and they said may he live the king.

13 Da Atalja hørte drabantenes og folkets rop, gikk hun inn i Herrens hus til folket.

And she heard Athaliah [the] sound of the runners the people and she went to the people [the] house of Yahweh.

14 Der fikk hun se at kongen stod på forhøiningen, som skikk var, og høvedsmennene og trompetblåserne stod hos ham, og hele folkemengden gledet sig og støtte i trompetene; da sønderrev Atalja sine klær og ropte: Oprør, oprør!

And she saw and there! the king [was] standing at the pillar according to the custom and the commanders and the trumpets [were] with the king and all [the] people of the land [was] joyful and [was] giving a blast on trumpets and she tore Athaliah clothes her and she called out treason treason.

15 Men presten Jojada bød høvedsmennene, dem som var satt over hæren, og sa til dem: Før henne ut mellem rekkene, og om nogen følger henne, så drep ham med sverd! For presten hadde sagt: Hun må ikke drepes i Herrens hus!

And he commanded Jehoiada the priest [the] commanders of (the hundreds *Q(k)*) [the] officers of the army and he said to them bring out her to from between to the ranks and the [one who] comes behind her put to death with the sword for he had said the priest may not she be put to death [the] house of Yahweh.

16 Så gjorde de plass for henne til begge sider, og hun gikk den vei som hestene pleier å kjøre inn til kongens hus; og der blev hun drept.

And they put to her hands and she went [the] way of [the] entrance of the horses [the] house of the king and she was put to death there.

17 Og Jojada gjorde en pakt mellem Herren og kongen og folket at de skulde være Herrens folk, og en pakt mellem kongen og folket.

And he made Jehoiada the covenant between Yahweh and between the king and between the people to become a people of Yahweh and between the king and between the people.

18 Og hele folkemengden gikk inn i Ba'als hus og rev det ned; hans altere og hans billeder knuste de aldeles, og Ba'als prest Mattan drepte de foran alterne. Og presten satte folk til å ha tilsyn med Herrens hus.

And they went all [the] people of the land [the] house of Baal and they pulled down it (altars its *Q(K)*) and images its they broke thoroughly and Mattan [the] priest of Baal they killed before the altars and he appointed the priest overseers over [the] house of Yahweh.

19 Så tok han med sig høvedsmennene og livvakten og drabantene og hele folkemengden, og de førte kongen ned fra Herrens hus og gikk inn i kongens hus gjennem drabantenes port; og han satte sig på kongetronen.

And he took [the] commanders of the hundreds and the Carian[s] and the runners and - all [the] people of the land and they took down the king from [the] house of Yahweh and they came [the] way of [the] gate of the runners [the] house of the king and he sat on [the] throne of the kings.

20 Og hele folkemengden gledet sig, og byen var rolig; men Atalja hadde de drept med sverd i kongens hus.

And it rejoiced all [the] people of the land and the city it was at peace and Athaliah they had put to death with the sword [the] house of (the king. *Q(K)*)

21 Joas var syv år gammel da han blev konge.
