2 Krønikebok 9
1 Da dronningen av Saba hørte Salomos ry, kom hun til Jerusalem med et stort følge og med kameler som bar krydderier og gull i mengde og dyre stener; hun vilde sette Salomo på prøve med gåter. Og da hun var kommet til ham, talte hun med ham om alt som lå henne på hjerte.
And the queen of Saba heard [of] the name of Solomon, and she came to Jerusalem with a very large force, to prove Solomon with hard questions, and [she had] camels bearing spices in abundance, and gold, and precious stones: and she came to Solomon, and told him all that was in her mind.
2 Men Salomo tydet alle hennes gåter; det var ikke et ord av det hun sa, som var dulgt for Salomo, så han ikke kunde tyde det.
And Solomon told her all her words; and there passed not a word from Solomon which he told her not.
3 Da dronningen av Saba så Salomos visdom og så det hus han hadde bygget,
And the queen of Saba saw the wisdom of Solomon, and the house which he had built,
4 og rettene på hans bord, og hvorledes hans tjenere satt ved bordet, og bordsvennene stod omkring, og hvorledes de var klædd, og hans munnskjenker og deres drakt og den trapp han gikk op på til Herrens hus, var hun rent ute av sig selv av forundring.
and the meat of the tables, and the sitting of his servants, and the standing of his ministers, and their raiment; and his cupbearers, and their apparel; and the whole burnt offerings which he offered up in the house of the Lord; then she was in ecstasy.
5 Og hun sa til kongen: Så var det da sant det jeg hørte hjemme i mitt land om dig og din visdom.
And she said to the king, [It was] a true report which I heard in my land concerning your words, and concerning your wisdom.
6 Jeg trodde ikke det de fortalte, før jeg kom og fikk se det med egne øine; men nu ser jeg at de ikke har fortalt mig halvdelen om din store visdom; du overgår det rykte jeg har hørt.
Yet I believed not the reports until I came, and my eyes saw: and, behold, the half of the abundance of your wisdom was not told me: you have exceeded the report which I heard.
7 Lykkelige er dine menn og lykkelige disse dine tjenere som alltid står for ditt åsyn og hører din visdom.
Blessed [are] your men, blessed [are] these your servants, who stand before you continually, and hear your wisdom.
8 Lovet være Herren din Gud, som hadde velbehag i dig, så han satte dig på sin trone som konge for Herren din Gud! Fordi din Gud elsker Israel og vil holde det oppe til evig tid, satte han dig til konge over dem for å håndheve rett og rettferdighet.
Blessed be the Lord your God, who took pleasure in you, to set you upon his throne for a king, to the Lord your God: forasmuch as the Lord your God loved Israel to establish them for ever, therefore he has set you over them for a king to execute judgement and justice.
9 Så gav hun kongen hundre og tyve talenter gull og krydderier i stor mengde og dyre stener; aldri har det vært slik mengde krydderier i landet som det dronningen av Saba gav kong Salomo.
And she gave the king a hundred and twenty talents of gold, and spices in very great abundance, and precious stones: and there were not [any where else] such spices as those which the queen of Saba gave king Solomon.
10 Men også Hirams folk og Salomos folk som hentet gull fra Ofir, hadde ført sandeltre og dyre stener med derfra.
And the servants of Solomon and the servants of Chiram brought gold to Solomon out of Suphir, and pine timber, and precious stones.
11 Av sandeltreet lot kongen gjøre trapper til Herrens hus og til kongens hus og citarer og harper for sangerne; maken til det var aldri før blitt sett i Juda land.
And the king made of the pine timber steps to the house of the Lord, and to the king's house, and harps and lutes for the singers: and such were not seen before in the land of Juda.
12 Og kong Salomo gav dronningen av Saba alt det hun hadde lyst til og bad om, foruten det han gav til gjengjeld for det hun hadde hatt med til kongen. Så tok hun avsted og drog hjem til sitt land med sine tjenere.
And king Solomon gave to the queen of Saba all that she requested, besides all that she brought to king Solomon: and she returned to her [own] land.
13 Vekten av det gull som i ett år kom inn til Salomo, var seks hundre og seks og seksti talenter,
And the weight of the gold that was brought to Solomon in one year was six hundred and sixty-six talents of gold,
14 foruten det som kom inn fra kjøbmennene og kremmerne; også alle kongene i Arabia og stattholderne i landet avgav gull og sølv til Salomo.
besides what the men who were regularly appointed and the merchants brought, and all the kings of Arabia and princes of the land: all brought gold and silver to king Solomon.
15 Og kong Salomo lot gjøre to hundre store skjold av uthamret gull - det gikk seks hundre sekel uthamret gull med til hvert skjold -
And king Solomon made two hundred shields of beaten gold: there were six hundred [shekels] of pure gold to one shield.
16 Og tre hundre små skjold av uthamret gull - til hvert av disse skjold gikk det med tre hundre sekel gull - og kongen satte dem i Libanon-skoghuset.
And three hundred buckles of beaten gold: [the weight] of three hundred gold shekels went to one buckler: and the king placed them in the house of the forest of Lebanon.
17 Kongen lot også gjøre en stor elfenbenstrone og klædde den med rent gull.
And the king made a great throne of ivory, and he gilded it with pure gold.
18 Tronen hadde seks trin og en fotskammel av gull, som var fastgjort til tronen; på begge sider av setet var det armer, og tett ved armene stod det to løver;
And [there were] six steps to the throne, riveted with gold, and elbows on either side of the seat of the throne, and two lions standing by the elbows:
19 og på begge sider av de seks trin stod det tolv løver. Noget sådant har aldri vært gjort i noget annet kongerike.
and twelve lions standing there on the six steps on each side. There was not the like in any [other] kingdom.
20 Alle kong Salomos drikkekar var av gull, og alle karene i Libanonskoghuset var av fint gull; sølv blev ikke regnet for noget i Salomos dager.
And all king Solomon's vessels were of gold, and all the vessels of the house of the forest of Lebanon were covered with gold: silver was not thought anything of in the days of Solomon.
21 For kongen hadde skiber som fór til Tarsis sammen med Hirams folk; en gang hvert tredje år kom Tarsis-skibene hjem og hadde med gull og sølv, elfenben og aper og påfugler.
For a ship went for the king to Tharsis with the servants of Chiram: once every three years came vessels from Tharsis to the king, laden with gold, and silver, and ivory, and apes.
22 Kong Salomo blev større enn alle jordens konger i rikdom og visdom.
And Solomon exceeded all [other] kings both in riches and wisdom.
23 Fra alle jordens kanter kom det konger for å se Salomo og høre hans visdom, som Gud hadde lagt i hans hjerte,
And all the kings of the earth sought the presence of Solomon, to hear his wisdom, which God had put in his heart.
24 og hver av dem hadde gaver med: sølvkar og gullkar og klær, våben og krydderier, hester og mulesler; så gjorde de år om annet.
And they brought every one his gifts, silver vessels and golden vessels, and raiment, myrrh and spices, horses and mules, a rate every year.
25 Salomo hadde fire tusen stallrum for hester og stridsvogner og tolv tusen hestfolk; dem la han dels i vognbyene, dels hos sig selv i Jerusalem.
And Solomon had four thousand mares for chariots, and twelve thousand horsemen; and he put them in the chariot cities, and with the king in Jerusalem.
26 Han rådet over alle kongene fra elven til filistrenes land og like til Egyptens landemerke.
And he rules over all the kings from the river even to the land of the Philistines, and to the borders of Egypt.
27 Kongen gjorde sølvet i Jerusalem like så almindelig som sten, og sedertre like så almindelig som morbærtrærne i lavlandet.
And the king made gold and silver in Jerusalem as stones, and cedars as the sycamore trees in the plain for abundance.
28 Og hester innførtes til Salomo fra Egypten og fra alle andre land.
And Solomon imported horses from Egypt, and from every [other] country.
29 Hvad som ellers er å fortelle om Salomo, både i hans første og i hans senere dager, er opskrevet i profeten Natans krønike og i Akia fra Silo's spådomsbok og i seeren Jedis syn om Jeroboam, Nebats sønn.
And the rest of the acts of Solomon, the first and the last, behold, these are written in the words of Nathan the prophet, and in the words of Achia the Selonite, and in the visions of Joel the seer concerning Jeroboam the son of Nabat.
30 Salomo var konge i Jerusalem over hele Israel i firti år.
And Solomon reigned over all Israel forty years.
31 Så la Salomo sig til hvile hos sine fedre og blev begravet i sin far Davids stad; og hans sønn Rehabeam blev konge i hans sted.
And Solomon fell asleep, and they buried him in the city of David his father: and Roboam his son reigned in his stead.
