1 Timoteus 6
1 Så mange som er træler under åket, skal akte sine herrer all ære verd, forat Guds navn og læren ikke skal bli spottet.
Let those who are under the yoke of servitude hold their masters in all honour, that the name of Aloha and his doctrine be not blasphemed.
2 Men de som har troende herrer, skal ikke forakte dem, fordi de er brødre, men så meget heller gjøre sin tjeneste, fordi de som nyter godt av deres velgjerning, er troende og elsket. Dette skal du lære og formane til.
But let not those who have believing masters slight them, because they are their brethren; but serve them the more, because they are believers, and beloved who are refreshed by their ministry. These things teach and require of them.
3 Dersom nogen farer med fremmed lære og ikke holder sig til vår Herre Jesu Kristi sunde ord og den lære som hører til gudsfrykt,
But if there be a man who teacheth other doctrine, and who accedeth not to the healthful words of our Lord Jeshu Meshiha, and to the doctrine of the fear of Aloha,
4 han er opblåst skjønt han intet forstår, men er syk for stridsspørsmål og ordkrig, som volder avind, kiv, spottord, ond mistanke,
this (is one) who extolleth himself while knowing nothing, but is infirm with disputation and questioning of words, from which are envy, and contention, and evil speaking, and supposition in the evil mind,
5 stadig krangel iblandt mennesker som er fordervet i sitt sinn og har tapt sannheten, idet de akter gudsfrykten for en vei til vinning.
and conflicts of men whose minds are corrupt and deprived of the truth, and who consider that gain is the fear of Aloha.
6 Ja, gudsfrykt med nøisomhet er en stor vinning;
But thou, remove thyself from them. For our gain is great which is the fear of Aloha, with the use of our sufficiency.
7 for vi har ikke hatt noget med oss til verden; det er åpenbart at vi heller ikke kan ta noget med oss derfra;
For nothing brought we into the world, and we know that nothing we are able to take from it.
8 men når vi har føde og klær, skal vi dermed la oss nøie;
Therefore sufficient to us are food and raiment.
9 men de som vil bli rike, faller i fristelse og snare og mange dårlige og skadelige lyster, som senker menneskene ned i undergang og fortapelse.
But they who will be rich fall into temptations and snares, and many lusts which befool and injure, and which plunge men into destruction and perdition.
10 For pengekjærhet er en rot til alt ondt; av lyst dertil har somme faret vill fra troen og har gjennemstunget sig selv med mange piner.
For the root of all evil is the love of money; and there are who have coveted it, and from the faith have erred, and have made themselves enter into many sorrows.
11 Men du, Guds menneske, fly disse ting, jag efter rettferdighet, gudsfrykt, tro, kjærlighet, tålmodighet, saktmodighet!
But thou, O man of God, from these things flee, and follow after righteousness, and after equity, and after faith, and after charity, and after patience, and after meekness.
12 Strid troens gode strid, grip det evige liv, som du blev kalt til, du som og har avlagt den gode bekjennelse for mange vidner! (aiōnios g166)
And contend in the good agony of faith, and lay hold of the life which is eternal, unto which thou art called, and hast confessed a good confession before many witnesses. (aiōnios g166)
13 Jeg byder dig for Gud, som gir alle ting liv, og for Kristus Jesus, som vidnet for Pontius Pilatus den gode bekjennelse,
I ATTEST thee before Aloha, who vivifieth all, and Jeshu Meshiha, who witnessed before Pontius Pilatos the good testimony,
14 at du skal holde budet rent og ulastelig inntil vår Herre Jesu Kristi åpenbarelse,
that thou keep (this) commandment without spot and without blemish, until the manifestation of our Lord Jeshu Meshiha,
15 som den Salige og alene Mektige skal vise oss i sin tid, han som er kongenes konge og herrenes herre,
whom in his time will show Aloha the blessed and only Strong One, the King of kings, and Lord of lords;
16 han som alene har udødelighet, som bor i et lys som ingen kan komme til, han som intet menneske har sett eller kan se; ham tilhører ære og evig makt. Amen. (aiōnios g166)
he who only is incorruptible, and (who) dwelleth in light which no man can approach; whom no man of men hath seen, nor is able to see: to him be honour and power for ever and ever. Amen. (aiōnios g166)
17 Byd dem som er rike i den nuværende verden, at de ikke skal være overmodige eller sette sitt håp til den uvisse rikdom, men til Gud, som gir oss rikelig alle ting å nyte, (aiōn g165)
The rich of this world instruct, that they be not uplifted in their minds, nor be trustful upon riches which have no security, but upon Aloha the living, who giveth to us all abundantly for our comfort; (aiōn g165)
18 at de skal gjøre godt, være rike på gode gjerninger, gavmilde, godgjørende,
and that they perform good works, and become rich in welldoings, and be ready to give and to communicate,
19 så de legger sig op en god grunnvoll for den kommende tid, at de kan gripe det sanne liv.
and lay for themselves a good foundation for that which is to be, that they may lay hold on the true life.
20 Timoteus! ta vare på det som er dig overgitt, så du vender dig bort fra det vanhellige tomme snakk og motsigelsene fra den kunnskap som falskelig kalles så,
O Timothy, watch over that which is confided to thee, and fly from vain words, and the turnings of false knowledge.
21 som nogen bekjenner sig til, så de har faret vill i troen. Nåden være med dig!
For they who pursue it err from the faith. Grace be with thee. Amen.
