1 Samuels 17
1 Filistrene samlet sine hærer til strid og kom sammen i Soko, som hører til Juda; og de slo leir mellem Soko og Aseka ved Efes-Dammim.
And they gathered [the] Philistines armies their for battle and they were gathered Socoh which [belongs] to Judah and they encamped between Socoh and between Azekah in Ephes Dammim.
2 Og Saul og Israels menn samlet sig og; de leiret sig i Terebintedalen og fylket sig mot filistrene.
And Saul and [the] man of Israel they were gathered and they encamped in [the] valley of Elah and they deployed battle to meet [the] Philistines.
3 Filistrene stod ved fjellet på den ene side, og israelittene ved fjellet på den andre side, så de hadde dalen imellem sig.
And [the] Philistines [were] standing to the mountain from this and Israel [were] standing to the mountain from this and the valley [was] between them.
4 Da gikk en tvekjemper ut av filistrenes leir; han hette Goliat og var fra Gat; han var seks alen og et spann høi.
And he came out [the] man of the champions from [the] camps of [the] Philistines [was] Goliath name his from Gath height his [was] six cubits and a span.
5 På hodet hadde han en kobberhjelm og var klædd i en skjellbrynje, og brynjens vekt var fem tusen sekel kobber.
And a helmet of bronze [was] on head his and body armor of scales he [was] clothed and [the] weight of the body armor [was] five thousand shekels bronze.
6 Han hadde kobberskinner på leggene og et kastespyd av kobber på ryggen.
And leg armor of bronze [was] on feet his and a javelin of bronze [was] between shoulders his.
7 Skaftet på hans spyd var som en veverstang, og odden på hans spyd veide seks hundre sekel jern, og hans skjoldbærer gikk foran ham.
(And [the] wood of *Q(K)*) spear his [was] like a beam of weavers and [the] blade of spear his [was] six hundred shekels iron and [the] bearer of the body shield [was] walking before him.
8 Han stod frem og ropte til Israels fylking og sa til dem: Hvorfor drar I ut og fylker eder til strid? Er ikke jeg filisteren og I Sauls træler? Velg eder en mann og la ham komme ned til mig!
And he stood and he called out to [the] battle lines of Israel and he said to them why? do you come out to deploy battle ¿ not [am] I the Philistine and [are] you? servants of Saul commission for yourselves a man so he may come down to me.
9 Hvis han kan stride med mig og feller mig, så skal vi være eders træler; men hvis jeg får bukt med ham og feller ham, så skal I være våre træler og tjene oss.
If he will be able to fight with me and he will strike down me and we will become of you slaves and if I I will prevail to him and I will strike down him and you will become of us slaves and you will serve us.
10 Så sa filisteren: Idag har jeg hånet Israels fylking; kom hit med en mann, så vi kan stride med hverandre!
And he said the Philistine I I defy [the] battle lines of Israel the day this give to me a man so let us fight together.
11 Da Saul og hele Israel hørte disse filisterens ord, blev de forferdet og fryktet storlig.
And he heard Saul and all Israel [the] words of the Philistine these and they were dismayed and they were afraid exceedingly.
12 David var en sønn av den før omtalte efratitt fra Betlehem i Juda som hette Isai, og som hadde åtte sønner. Denne mann var i Sauls dager gammel og avfeldig.
And David [was] a son of a man an Ephrathite this from Beth-lehem Judah and name his [was] Jesse and [belonged] to him eight sons and the man in [the] days of Saul he was old he had gone among men.
13 Isais tre eldste sønner hadde draget ut og fulgt Saul i krigen; og av disse hans tre sønner som hadde draget i krigen, hette den førstefødte Eliab, den annen Abinadab og den tredje Samma.
And they had gone [the] three [the] sons of Jesse old they had gone after Saul to battle and [the] name of - [the] three of sons his who they had gone in the battle [was] Eliab the firstborn and second his [was] Abinadab and the third [was] Shammah.
14 David var den yngste. De tre eldste hadde fulgt Saul,
And David he [was] the young and three old they had gone after Saul.
15 men David gikk stundom hjem igjen fra Saul for å vokte sin fars småfe i Betlehem.
And David [was] going and [was] returning from with Saul to shepherd [the] flock of father his Beth-lehem.
16 Filisteren gikk frem både morgen og aften; i firti dager stilte han sig frem.
And he drew near the Philistine rising early and [the] evening darkened and he took his stand forty day[s].
17 Så sa Isai til sin sønn David: Kjære, ta en efa av dette ristede korn og disse ti brød til dine brødre og skynd dig til leiren med det, til dine brødre!
And he said Jesse to David son his take please to brothers your [the] ephah of roasted grain this and ten bread[s] this and bring [them] quickly the camp to brothers your.
18 Men disse ti skiver fersk ost skal du ha med til den øverste høvedsmann; så skal du se til dine brødre om det går dem vel, og ta med et pant fra dem.
And [the] ten [the] portions of milk these you will bring to [the] commander of the thousand and brothers your you will pay attention to welfare and pledge their you will take.
19 Saul er med dem og alle Israels menn i Terebinte-dalen og strider med filistrene.
And Saul and they and every man of Israel [are] in [the] valley of Elah fighting with [the] Philistines.
20 Morgenen efter stod David tidlig op og overlot småfeet til en gjæter; så tok han det han skulde ha med, og gikk avsted, som Isai hadde befalt ham. Da han kom til vognborgen, drog hæren nettop ut for å fylke sig til strid og opløftet krigsropet.
And he rose early David in the morning and he left the flock with a watchman and he lifted up and he went just as he had commanded him Jesse and he came the camp towards and the army which was going out to the battle line and they shouted a war cry in the battle.
21 Og Israel og filistrene stilte sig op, fylking mot fylking.
And it deployed Israel and [the] Philistines battle line to meet battle line.
22 David la de ting han hadde med sig ned hos den som hadde tilsyn med trosset, og sprang frem til fylkingen, og da han kom dit, hilste han på sine brødre.
And he left David the baggage from with him on [the] hand of [the] keeper of the baggage and he ran the battle line and he came and he asked of brothers his to welfare.
23 Mens han talte med dem, kom tvekjemperen, filisteren Goliat fra Gat, nettop frem fra filistrenes fylking og ropte de samme ord som før, og David hørte det.
And he - [was] speaking with them and there! [the] man of the champions [was] coming up [was] Goliath the Philistine name his from Gath (from [the] battle lines of *Q(K)*) [the] Philistines and he spoke according to the words these and he heard David.
24 Og alle Israels menn flyktet for mannen da de så ham, og var meget redde.
And every man of Israel when saw they the man and they fled from before him and they were afraid exceedingly.
25 Og en mann av Israel sa: Ser I den mann som kommer frem der? Han kommer for å håne Israel; den mann som feller ham, ham vil kongen gi stor rikdom og la ham få sin datter og gjøre hans fars hus skattefritt i Israel.
And he said - [the] man of Israel ¿ have you seen the man who comes up this for to defy Israel [he is] coming up and it will be the man who he will strike down him he will make rich him the king - rich[es] great and daughter his he will give to him and [the] house of father his he will make free in Israel.
26 Da sa David til de menn som stod tett ved ham: Hvad skal han få den mann som feller denne filister og tar skammen bort fra Israel? For hvem er denne uomskårne filister, at han har hånet den levende Guds hær?
And he said David to the men who were standing with him saying what? will it be done for the man who he will strike down the Philistine this and he will remove reproach from on Israel that who? [is] the Philistine uncircumcised this that he has defied [the] battle lines of God living.
27 Og folket gjentok for ham de samme ord og sa: Det og det skal den mann få som feller ham.
And it said to him the people according to the manner this saying thus it will be done for the man who he will strike down him.
28 Eliab, hans eldste bror, hørte hvad han talte med mennene om; da optendtes hans vrede mot David, og han sa: Hvorfor er du kommet her ned, og til hvem har du overlatt de to-tre får der i ørkenen? Jeg kjenner ditt overmot og ditt hjertes ondskap; det er for å se på striden du er kommet her ned.
And he heard Eliab brother his old when spoke he to the men and it burned [the] anger of Eliab on David and he said - why? this have you come down and with whom? have you left [the] fewness of the sheep those in the wilderness I I know arrogance your and [the] wickedness of heart your that so as to see the battle you have come down.
29 Men David sa: Hvad har jeg gjort nu? Det var jo bare et ord.
And he said David what? have I done now ¿ not a word [was] it.
30 Så vendte han sig fra ham til en annen og spurte om det samme; og folket svarte ham som første gang.
And he turned away from beside him to [the] front of another [person] and he said according to the manner this and they brought back him the people word according to the word the former.
31 Det kom ut hvad David hadde sagt, og Saul fikk og høre det. Han lot ham hente,
And they were heard the words which he spoke David and people told before Saul and he sent for him.
32 og David sa til Saul: Ingen må tape motet! Din tjener vil gå og stride med denne filister.
And he said David to Saul may not it fall [the] heart of anyone on him servant your he will go and he will fight with the Philistine this.
33 Men Saul sa til David: Du kan ikke gå mot denne filister og stride med ham; for du er ung, og han er en krigsmann fra sin ungdom av.
And he said Saul to David not you will be able to go against the Philistine this to fight with him for [are] a youth you and he [is] a man of war since youth his.
34 Men David svarte Saul: Din tjener voktet småfeet for sin far; kom det da en løve eller en bjørn og tok et får av hjorden,
And he said David to Saul shepherding he was servant your for father his the flock and it came the lion and with the bear and it carried off a sheep from the flock.
35 sprang jeg efter den og slo den og rev fåret ut av gapet på den; og reiste den sig så imot mig, tok jeg fatt i dens skjegg og slo den og drepte den.
And I went out after it and I struck it and I rescued [it] from mouth its and it rose up on me and I took hold on beard its and I struck it and I killed it.
36 Både løve og bjørn har din tjener slått ihjel, og det skal gå denne uomskårne filister som dem, fordi han har hånet den levende Guds hær.
Both the lion as well as the bear he has struck down servant your and he will be the Philistine uncircumcised this like one from them for he has defied [the] battle lines of God living.
37 Så sa David: Herren, som har fridd mig av løvens og bjørnens vold, han skal også fri mig av denne filisters vold. Da sa Saul til David: Gå! Herren skal være med dig.
And he said David Yahweh who he delivered me from [the] hand of the lion and from [the] hand of the bear he he will deliver me from [the] hand of the Philistine this. And he said Saul to David go and Yahweh he will be with you.
38 Og Saul lot David få sine egne klær og satte en kobberhjelm på hans hode og hadde på ham en brynje.
And he clothed Saul David garments his and he put a helmet of bronze on head his and he clothed him body armor.
39 Og David bandt hans sverd om sig utenpå sine klær og vilde til å gå; for han hadde ikke prøvd det før. Og David sa til Saul: Jeg kan ikke gå med dette, for jeg har ikke prøvd det før. Så tok David alt dette av sig
And he girded David sword his over garments his and he fell short to walk for not he had put to [the] test and he said David to Saul not I will be able to walk in these [things] for not I have put to [the] test and he removed them David from on himself.
40 og tok sin stav i hånden og søkte sig ut fem glatte stener i bekken; dem la han i hyrdetasken som han hadde med sig, og sin slynge hadde han i hånden; og så gikk han frem mot filisteren.
And he took stick his in hand his and he chose for himself five smooth [ones] of stones - from the wadi and he put them in [the] bag of shepherds which [belonged] to him and in the pouch and sling his [was] in hand his and he drew near to the Philistine.
41 Og filisteren kom nærmere og nærmere bortimot David, og hans skjoldbærer gikk foran ham.
And he came the Philistine coming and approaching to David and the man [the] bearer of the body shield [was] before him.
42 Da filisteren så frem for sig og blev var David, foraktet han ham, fordi han var ung og rødkinnet og fager å se til.
And he looked the Philistine and he saw David and he despised him for he was a youth and red with handsome of appearance.
43 Og filisteren sa til David: Er jeg en hund, siden du kommer mot mig med kjepper? Og filisteren bante David ved sin gud.
And he said the Philistine to David ¿ a dog [am] I that you [are] coming against me with sticks and he cursed the Philistine David by gods his.
44 Så sa filisteren til David: Kom hit til mig, så skal jeg gi ditt kjøtt til himmelens fugler og markens dyr.
And he said the Philistine to David come! to me so let me give flesh your to [the] bird[s] of the heavens and to [the] animal[s] of the field.
45 David svarte filisteren: Du kommer mot mig med sverd og lanse og kastespyd; men jeg kommer mot dig i Herrens, hærskarenes Guds navn, han som er Gud for Israels fylkinger - han som du har hånet.
And he said David to the Philistine you [are] coming against me with sword and with spear and with javelin and I [am] coming against you in [the] name of Yahweh of hosts [the] God of [the] battle lines of Israel whom you have defied.
46 På denne dag skal Herren gi dig i min hånd, og jeg skal slå dig ihjel og skille ditt hode fra din kropp, og jeg skal på denne dag gi likene fra filistrenes leir til himmelens fugler og til jordens ville dyr, og all jorden skal få se at Israel har en Gud.
The day this he will deliver up you Yahweh in hand my and I will strike down you and I will remove head your from on you and I will give [the] corpse[s] of [the] army of [the] Philistines the day this to [the] bird[s] of the heavens and to [the] animal[s] of the earth so they may know all the earth that there a God [belongs] to Israel.
47 Og hele dette folk skal få se at det ikke er ved sverd og spyd Herren frelser; for Herren råder for krigen, og han skal gi eder i var hånd.
So they may know all the assembly this that not by sword and by spear he saves Yahweh for [belongs] to Yahweh the battle and he will give you in hand our.
48 Da nu filisteren gjorde sig rede og gikk frem og kom nærmere bortimot David, skyndte David sig og sprang frem mot fylkingen, filisteren i møte.
And it was that he arose the Philistine and he came and he drew near to meet David and he hurried David and he ran the battle line to meet the Philistine.
49 Og David stakk sin hånd i tasken og tok frem av den en sten; den slynget han ut og traff filisteren i pannen, og stenen trengte dypt inn i hans panne, og han falt på sitt ansikt til jorden.
And he sent David hand his into the bag and he took from there a stone and he slung [it] and he struck the Philistine to forehead his and it sank the stone in forehead his and he fell on face his [the] ground towards.
50 Således vant David over filisteren med slyngen og stenen, og han slo filisteren og drepte ham, enda David ikke hadde noget sverd i sin hånd.
And he was strong David more than the Philistine with the sling and with the stone and he struck down the Philistine and he killed him and [was] a sword there not in [the] hand of David.
51 Og David sprang frem og stilte sig tett ved filisteren og tok og drog hans sverd ut av skjeden og drepte ham og hugg hans hode av med det. Og da filistrene så at deres kjempe var død, tok de flukten.
And he ran David and he stood to the Philistine and he took sword his and he drew out it from sheath its and he killed him and he cut off with it head his and they saw the Philistines that he had died mighty [man] their and they fled.
52 Da gikk Israels og Judas menn frem, opløftet krigsropet og forfulgte filistrene til bortimot Gat og like til Ekrons porter; og det lå falne filistrer på veien til Sa'ara'im og helt frem til Gat og til Ekron.
And they arose [the] men of Israel and Judah and they shouted a war cry and they pursued the Philistines until coming you [to] Gath and to [the] gates of Ekron and they fell [those] slain of [the] Philistines on [the] way of Shaaraim and to Gath and to Ekron.
53 Så forfulgte ikke Israels barn filistrene lenger, men vendte tilbake og plyndret deres leir.
And they returned [the] people of Israel from hotly pursuing after [the] Philistines and they plundered camps their.
54 Og David tok filisterens hode og hadde det med sig til Jerusalem; men hans våben la han i sitt telt.
And he took David [the] head of the Philistine and he brought it Jerusalem and weapons his he put in own tent his.
55 Da Saul så David gå ut imot filisteren, sa han til Abner, hærføreren: Hvem er denne gutt sønn til, Abner? Abner svarte: Så sant du lever, konge, jeg vet det ikke.
And just as saw Saul David going out to meet the Philistine he said to Abner [the] commander of the army son of whom? this [is] the youth O Abner and he said Abner [by] [the] life of self your O king if I knew.
56 Da sa kongen: Spør efter hvem denne gutt er sønn til.
And he said the king ask you son of whom? this [is] the youth.
57 Da så David vendte tilbake efterat han hadde slått filisteren ihjel, tok Abner ham og førte ham frem for Saul; han hadde ennu filisterens hode i sin hånd.
And just as returned David from striking down the Philistine and he took him Abner and he brought him before Saul and [the] head of the Philistine [was] in hand his.
58 Og Saul sa til ham: Hvem er du sønn til, unge mann? David svarte: Jeg er sønn til din tjener Isai fra Betlehem.
And he said to him Saul son of whom? [are] you O youth and he said David [the] son of servant your Jesse [the] Beth-lehemite.
